Theirs a fine line between being a Hero and being a memory.

Chapter 12 Embers Start Fires

Two days had passed since the Sato mansion robbery. Ube kept his mouth shut about the whole thing wanting to get the heat off himself and was surprised that his mother didn't ask him about the incident. Ube sat on a tall building watching over the city with diligent eyes. He was in the poverty area, knowing full well not too many eyes would be on him. Ube hadn't seen much from Asami and her presence at work was lacking as well.

Ube took a long sigh and hoped he would be able to see her again, especially after that kiss.

Ube took a calm breath and glazed over the street only hearing the sound of busy streets and honking horns belonging to automobiles. Ube stood tall and put his hands on his sides, making a superhero pose.

Then without warning the door to the roof slammed open. As Opal had a cheery smile. Ube let out a frightful yelp and flinched at the sound noise.

"Hey Ube, wait, what are you doing," Opal asked, noticing Ube standing close to the edge and fidgeting to stand normally.

"Nothing, I wasn't doing anything," Ube said in a panicked and fluttered voice. Opal who had the experience of living with three older brothers could tell Ube was posing. Opal had to hide her laugh but failed miserably at it.

"Were, You, posing?" Opal said, trying to hold in her laughter. Ube was quickly flustered with embarrassment.

"No, I was just watching over the city!" Ube shouted. He crossed his arms and pouted, and looked away from his cousin. Opal sighed at her cousin but walked over to him. Ube noticed the newspaper in her hands.

"What's this?" Ube asked.

"What do you think, you made it to the front pages again," Opal said with a sly smile. Ube glanced at the front pages. The title reads as follows: Trouble Strikes the Sato Mansion.

Ube read the paragraph with interested eyes; The Sato Mansion was attacked by a group trying to steal the unknown mecha that terrorized downtown. However, it appeared fortune had smiled upon the family. One of our local spirits and lend a hand to the family in need. Going by the name Diamond Head, watch out ladies this one is quite the sharp-dressed man.

After this break-in attempt, the Sato are currently housed in a new location which hasn't been shared with the public yet.

Due to this rampant spirit, The councilmen and police chief have arranged a big feast for these spirits in the councilmen's hall. In the hope of speaking and negotiating, to settle this vigilante behavior once and for all. This operation is being spearheaded by Councilman Tenzin. Along with more projections, General Bumi from the United Nations acted as security.

Civilians are welcome to watch however it would be at their own risk for safety.

Ube's eyes widened as he read the article. The city was going to try and talk to him. Master Tenzin was a good friend to Lin and him of course but could he do it? Ube didn't want to put Tenzin's statues at risk. He wasn't sure if he should come. Not to mention he really wanted to see Asami again but just hoped she was okay.

"This is bad," Ube said in worry. Opal raised her eyebrows in confusion.

"What are you talking about, this is perfect, you can finally address the problems in this city," Opal said looking towards the poor-class ghettos. Ube shook his head in disagreement. Ever since he was put through the window by Rojo, Ube needed to think more about his choices. Not rush in head first to danger.

"Opal this as a trap. General Bumi is going to be here, I've read his books, he's a master tactician," Ube said, knowing what this truly was. This was a show of intimidation, Ube didn't want to lock horns with the government and yet he looked outwards to his surroundings, Seeing the people in the streets who had no home and nowhere to go. The hungry children sat on the cold stone floor. Ube took a deep breath if he did this, then he needed to think about it. He needed advice. Ube began to walk to the door past Opal.

"Come on Opal," Ube said, opening the roof door.

"Where are you going?" Opal asked.

"We're going to get some advice from the Happy Dragon," Ube said. If there was anyone who could help him, it was Mr. Shi.

Tenzin watched as the people set up at the stands and banquet table. He took a tired sigh thinking this was a huge mistake. The air nomad walked to the steps of the Councilman Hall.

On those steps talking with Bumi was Tarrlok who had a sly smile on his face. Tenzin narrowed his eyes at Tarrlok. Tenzin originally thought and advocated for the idea of this spirit banquet. Though he wanted it to be private with only the councilman, Bumi would offer any support to security. Tarlok surprisingly agreed with the banquet idea but not the private part. Making this a public event was a grave mistake.

Tenzin knew this was Tralock's tactic to try and gain more sway with people trying to show he wasn't afraid of these spirits with force.

"My word I cannot believe you are here, A war hero like you has quite the career," Tarrlok said. Tenzin immediately recognized that Tarrlok was trying to butter up Bumi with his false flattery. Bumi was enjoying it. He proudly stood puffing up his chest in pride.

"Well I did get the most decorated awards in my platoon, but I'm sure you know all of that," Bumi said. The two then laughed with each other. Tarrlok then put a hand on Bumi's shoulder in a friendly manner.

"I hope I can count on the great Bumi for support, it's just in these dire times you don't know who you can trust, I mean you never know when a dinosaur bursts through your office," Tarrlok said. Bumi was about to answer when he could see over Tarrlok's Shoulder seeing Tenzin wanting to talk to Bumi.

"Excuse me, do you mind if I have a word with my brother," Tenzin said. Tarrlok spun around to see Tenzin behind him, with a cool demeanor, he gave a nod. Not before giving one more glance at Bumi.

"If you ever need a favor please don't be afraid to knock on my door," Tarrlok said as he walked away from the two brothers.

"So I'm guessing Tarrlok has been very thoughtful to you," Tenzin said. Bumi let out a soft chuckle.

"You know you're right about him, he is a snake," Bumi said. Tenzin let out an agreeing smile. However, he was here to talk to his brother about business.

"Bumi are you sure everything is fine, this area is secured," Tenzin asked. The last thing he needed right now was a poor human soul getting injured by an angry spirit.

"It's all fine little brother securities everywhere on the roofs and the surrounding ten blocks us," Bumi said with unwavering confidence. Tenzin needed to accept the answer, for it was the best he was gonna get. Bumi snorted at his little brother's stress.

"Well why wouldn't the spirits through these past couple of days have been completely unpredictable lately," Lin said as she approached the two. Tenzin looked at the police chief with an agreeing nod.

"I swear Tarrlok as the rest of the other council members wrapped around his finger," Tenzin said in frustration. already seeing the Domino's being stacked just waiting for a push for all of them to fall.

"Come on Tenzin it's all fine, I mean, why are you so stressed? You invited the Firelord and Mom here," Bumi said nonchalantly like it was common knowledge between the two. Tenzin and Lin both had stun faces.

"What are you talking about? I didn't invite the Firelord or my mother here," Tenzin said. Then in a sudden realization glared at Tarrlok who was talking to the hounding group of reporters. Tenzin couldn't believe it. How could one of his fellow council members call such big leaders to report here? Tenzin was about to storm over there to the council member when suddenly a large red dragon landed in the empty courtyard space. Tenzin's eyes almost popped out of his skull in shock.

Two individuals slowly got off the dragon. The first was an old man, he was tall and wore bright red Fire royalty clothing. He had a clean white beard that reached to his sideburns. His white hair was tied in a clean bun. Held together by a fire nation crown. While a faded red burn scar covered his left eye. The leader of the Fire Nation, held himself with a great pride and stoic face, that it was like looking at a sunset. That his percent was like that of a golden light.

Tenzin didn't know what to say as Fire Lord Zuko approached him. Tenzin gave a respectful bow as did Lin. Bumi of course gave a salute to the Fire Lord.

"Tenzin, I'm glad to see you again," Zuko said in a kind humble voice. Tenzin felt like a fool knowing his choice was going to bring The Fire Lord here. Lin was very shocked and hoped this wouldn't start any trouble in her city.

"Lord Zuko, I apologize but I'm afraid the message you received was not from me but from Tarrlok," Tenzin said shamefully. As the nomad raised he could still see that Lord Zuko was calm.

"I know Tenzin, I'm not here to talk about politics, I understand you have a spirit problem," Lord Zuko said in a knowing tone of voice. Tenzin was surprised but nodded his head. Zuko looked at Lin and bowed his head toward her.

"It's nice to see you as well Lin, I hear you've got a son," Lord Zuko asked kindly. Lin in all her family drama smiled at the Fire Lord. Bumi and Tenzin were both shocked to see Lin with a bright smile.

"Yes I do, he's a good young man, maybe you could meet him today," Lin said as she would never say anything horrible about Ube for all she felt when she looked at her child was pride and joy.

"Lin, I'm so happy for you," A gentle old voice called out from behind them. Tenzin and Bumi instantly recognize the voice of their mother. Lin with a humble expression nodded her head as Katara approached them.

She was an elderly water tribe woman, she wore a dark blue water tribe dress, and her gray hair had a net style. While on the side of her were hair loops. She had an old withered face that had a kind smile. Lord Zuko gave a bow to an old friend

"It's good to see you again," Zuko said.

"So am I," Katara said warmly.

Tenzin protectively walked over to his mother.

"Mother, what are you doing here, it's not safe," Tension said. Tenzin gave a soft chuckle at her son's worry.

" Relax, you don't think me and your father saw any spirits when we were young, we're not here to start any confrontation," Katara said with a calm smile. The Fire Lord nodded and walked to Tenzin.

"We are here to lend aid and advice," Zuko said. Tenzin could accept that having two experts in such a situation did put him at ease. Tenzin took a calm breath and could only hope that things would play out without incident. Lin could see her friend was deeply thinking. The police chief would make sure that things were secure. Even though Tarrlok was twisting the situation to his favor he may not play out in his favor.

Night the banquet of spirits would begin.

Ube walked into the happy Dragon with a newspaper in his hand. Mr. Shi was of course sitting at a table lazily playing solitaire at the table in the corner. Mr. Shi quickly noticed Ube approaching him, while Opal wasn't too far behind.

"Hey, what's the matter you look like you just got invited to dinner with the Firelord," Mr. Shi joked trying to lighten up the mood. Ube showed the paper headline to old restaurant work.

"You know I was being speaking figuratively, right," Mr. Shi said as he was in utter shock at what he read. "This certainly big news,"

"Isn't this great Ube can finally address the problems in this city and they're gonna listen," Opal said in a rising hopeful tone of voice. Ube was in distress by the whole ordeal and took a seat across from Mr. Shi.

"I know you wanted to help people and get your message to help more of the non-benders, so why are you getting all stressed about this?" Opal asked unsure why Ube was so reluctant about it. Mr. Shi raised an eyebrow at Opal.

"I'm guessing you know about all of this alien business?" Mr. Shi asked even though the answer was quite obvious. Opal nodded and was happy to see she wasn't the only person who knew about Ube's secret.

"Opal, it's probably not such a good idea," Ube said. "And besides this is just a show they won't take me seriously,"

"But maybe they will if you tell the truth!" Opal said. "This city has been attacked by mutants, robots, and aliens. They need to know you're on their side,"

"And what good will that do me when all they're gonna see is a monster, who's give me vigilante justice I mean, probably not even gonna listen to me," Ube said in a moping tone of voice. he of course wasn't giving up on his dreams to save people and change the world but how was he sure that this would be a turning point?

Mr. Shi rolled up the newspaper and whacked Ube on the head.

"Ow! What was that for?" Ube said as he held his head in pain. The wise restaurant owner shook his head in disappointment.

"You're overthinking things, Ube right now you're facing a great opportunity here you're not afraid it's a trap or afraid you're not good enough to do this, are you?" Mr. Shi said, which made the young teen hero slide down slightly in his chair in disappointment. Opal was stunned to hear this, seeing Ube's reaction as speaking the truth.

"How could you not think you're worthy?" Opal said in worry. She then had a sudden realization and put a gentle hand on her cousin's shoulders.

"Is it because of what happened at the Sato mansion," Opal said. Ube's fist tightened in self-hatred. The young hero's face scrunched up and discomfort, remembering how recklessly he was.

"Asami's father was hurt because I didn't act fast enough, I didn't even beat Rojo, Asami had to do all the heavy lifting, while I got thrown out of the window," Ube looked at Mr. Shi who listened to the young teens' words.

"How can I save anybody if I keep lucking my way out of things, I don't know it's just nerve-racking, that's all," Ube said uncomfortably. There was a moment of silence as Ube wallowed in his embarrassment. Mr. Shi took a deep sigh and gently put a hand on Ube's shoulder.

"I understand you're afraid of failure, but do you know how I became a chef Ube," Mr. Shi asked graciously. Ube knew the answer and looked away from Mr. Shi.

"You learned how to cook," Ube said plainly.

"Yes I did, but every time I tried to make it I failed over and over again never getting it quite right on my first try or the second or even the third, failure is the greatest teacher of them all. Never get it right on your first try my dear boy because you'll never learn anything," Mr. Shi said. Ube looked at the restaurant owner with a confused gaze. Opal however could see how inspirational Mr. Shi was being, and it moved her heart.

Mr. Shi up from his chair and pointed at the wall across from them, showing all the pictures and newspaper cutouts that were framed showing police chief Lin's accomplishments in keeping the city safe.

"You think your mother was a super cop the first day, heck no she fell flat on her face when she was chasing her first crook that got away," Mr. Shi said as he got back to the young teen with hope in his eyes.

"Mom failed one time," Ube said.

"She failed a couple of times and she moped around always coming by my restaurant but that's not the point," Mr. Shi said.

"Kind of just seems like you were throwing some secrets out for no reason," Opal thought.

"Ube the most important thing right now is that you learn from your mistakes, you're a good person with ironclad morals, you think that watch is the only thing saving your butt, right?" Mr. Shi asked as he looked down at the Omnitrix that was on the young teen's wrist.

"That watch doesn't make you special, you make that watch special," Mr. Shi said. Ube didn't know what to say but understood what he heard. Ube took a deep breath and glanced at Opal and Mr. Shi. Ube nodded slowly and took a big sigh.

"I never really thought about it like that," Ube admitted honestly.

"You don't have to hold everything in. We're here for you, we're not gonna leave you. And gosh darn it we're gonna go and help you make that banquet," Opal said in a determined way. Making Ube smile in disbelief, as a thought, crossed his mind that possibly he didn't have to do all this work alone. Mr. Shi rolled his shoulders, walked to the front of the store, and flipped the open side to close.

"Then what are we standing around here for? let's get this kid ready for the best speech in his life," Mr. Shi said with a proud and loud shout. raising the spirits of the two teams that are in the restaurant. Ube stood up and rolled his shoulders.

"All right, Republic City, get ready for me," Ube thought.

The sun was finally setting upon Republic City. In a couple of hours, it would be night, and the spirit banquet would begin.

Some residents of Republic City would occasionally watch the sunset. One person was strictly doing it more than others. an individual with a white mask loomed over the sun. waiting patiently for the time to arrive.

Ube and Opal were sitting at a table with papers, crumpled up, and some spread on the table. With pens in both of their hands being tensely gripped.

They had spent hours trying to write a speech for Ube to say to the councilman. right now the young teen hero wanted to shove his head through the table. He had gotten nowhere past the first sentence. Opal also suffered the same fate as writing, wasn't her strong suit. The door opened as Mr. Shi put on his black outing coat.

The older man looked at the two with disarray.

"What are you two doing? The banquets begin in an hour," Mr. Shi said looking at the two with a stern look. Opal and Ube staggered to look at the man across the room. Both of them were extremely tired of trying to write.

"I'm sorry Mr. Shi I can't do this, I don't have anything grand words to say to these guys," Ube said. Opal nodded her head I she picked up one of the pieces of paper and read the context on it.

"Yeah, I'm gonna have to agree with Ube, because the best we have so far is 'Hey guys spirits here'," Opal said with disappointment. Mr. Shi gave a soft chuckle at what he heard.

oddly passed as it was the first time he truly thought about why he was doing"Ube you'll be fine you just only have to ask yourself one question, and that is why are you doing this?" Mr. Shi said. Ube oddly passed as it was the first time he truly thought about why he was doing this. Was it for himself? Was he trying to make his mother proud or was he just tired of seeing how much bad there was in the world?

"Ube please go get me some help,"

Ube's eyes widened as he felt a nostalgic memory wash over him. The young shapeshifting hero was in deep thought. Ube silently got up from the table and put on his black jacket. Opal was confused. It was only minutes ago that they were in utter disarray and confusion but now seeing her cousin, so determined in a matter of seconds, was a bit strange. Opal wondered what was Ube's drive to help people, why did Ube care so much.

She didn't even notice but Ube had this burning look in his eyes.

"Mr. Shi I'm ready," Ube said. The restaurant owner calmly noted his head and opened the door gesturing to the young teens to get in his car.

Ube didn't move and glanced down at his Omnitrix and back at the car that waited outside.

"I'll meet you guys there I have to take care of some business," Ube said calmly. Opal and Mr. Shi both had their concerns. Mr. Shi awkwardly scratches the back of his head.

"Do you know the whole gas prices thing I said doesn't affect me at all," Mr. Shi said thinking that he might've said something to dissuade Ube from entering the car.

Opal stepped forward and sternly glanced at her cousin.

"You're acting weird and not in a good way," Opal said. Ube took a deep breath and calmly glanced at the two trying to reassure them that he would be fine.

"Listen, I'll be there at the banquet. I just have to make a quick stop first it's personal," Ube said.

"Whatever You say, kid just don't be late I mean you're the guest honor," Mr. Shi said as he walked out of the door and entered his car. Opal awkwardly walked forward to her cousin, rubbing her right arm.

Opal without warning lightly punched Ube's arm in a sibling manner.

"Just don't be late," Opal said with a somber voice, then in the next few moments, it begrudgingly changed into a smirk.

"Dork," Opal said her strange goodbye, and walked out of the door, closing it behind her. Leaving Ube all alone. The young teen waited for them to leave as they drove off down the street. Ube walked out into the back door and slowly walked out of the alleyway and towards the opposite direction from where Opal and Mr. Shi drove.

Ube held his head down saying that the streets weren't too busy. so he could aimlessly walk around without worrying about pumping into somebody.

The lights in Republic City were always calm every night. Yet the teenager couldn't care less about the surroundings.

"Why am I doing this?" Ube said.

After some walking Ube finally stopped at a dirty alleyway, filled with grime and garbage. He glanced up above to see the street sign's name. This was West Turtle, Dove Alley.

He slowly began to walk into the place and looked down at the floor. Knowing this is where it all took place, the day he lost everything. A life was taken from the spot, an event that made Ube so brazen.

He tried to speak but the mom and he opened his mouth but couldn't manage the words to come out. The young teen's hands started to fidget and sniffled, holding back tears.

He gripped his fist tightly and shut his eyes remembering a time when he was young and… innocent.

Years ago Ube we called this spot home. Despite how unsanitary it was, a young child with hope in his eyes ran around with his arms out playing with broken discarded toys.

Right behind him was that metal shed. it might've been a garbage house but the young child loved it. The door to the shed opened. She wore born clothing that was made out of rage and reached her legs. Her hair was long black and her eyes were a remarkable amber color. Her skin was sun-kissed and a smile was as bright as the sun was on her face. This woman's name was Daiyu.

"Ube what are you doing sweetie?" She asked. The toddler ran toward her with a strange bowl in his hand.

"Mom look! I mixed these foods from the trash cans, and it tasted super good," Ube said with excitement about the amalgam soup he put together. Daiyu laughed at her son and gently picked him up. She took a swig from the bowl and swallowed the context inside.

"Mmm, that's delicious!"

"Oh wow, look at this, did you make this all by yourself," Daiyu said, picking up the child in her arms, now carrying her child in her arms.

"Yes," whispered

"Oh this is so good, I bet you wanna be a chief," Daiyu said in an amazed tone of voice. She gently kissed Ube's forehead making the child giggle.

"And when you're a chief I bet everyone from around the world's gonna want to try your meals," She said In wonder. Then Ube's face turned into disappointment.

"No," Ube said

"Ube what's wrong?" Ube turned her head away and to the exit of the alleyway seeing the rich busy people walking down the streets.

"We should be the only ones getting the food around here, not any of these people, they should starve," Ube said, crossing his arms, hating the people out there. Daiyu gasped at her child and shook her head.

"Ube never say that to anyone," Daiyu scolded her child, Ube was confused and didn't know what to say.

"But Mom!" Ube whined.

"No buts Mister, Ube the world is a dark place. It doesn't need any more malice in it. I may be hungry, and we may not have a lovely house, but we are more fortunate than some people who live out there in this cold world, people are even hungrier than us," Daiyu said in a sad voice. Ube felt sadness in his heart, thinking of the ill words he said.

"Sorry Mom," Ube apologized, looking down at the ground. Daiyu shook her head but still had that gentle smile.

"Ube what kind of world do you want to grow up in?" Daiyu asked, however, Ube was confused by the question. Ube mother could see the confusion on your son's face.

"Oh Ube, here let me explain the world I want us to live in and we're living in it right now. We're both happy, and I want you to be the happiest until you grow old," Daiyu said. She then gazed down at her child again, seeing that he had an awe-written face.

Young Ube thought deeply trying to have a good honest answer. Ube twiddled with his fingers and hopefully looked up at his mom.

"But I can't do anything. I don't have any fire-bending," Ube said innocently. Daiyu still smiled and used her other free hand to snap her fingers making a flame appear on top of her fingertips. Ube watched in amazement as the fire danced on our fingertips only for it to suddenly go away.

"Everyone has a fire in them it just takes a while for everybody to find it," Ube was inspired by the words, and truly took a moment to think about what world he wanted for him and his mother to live in.

"I want to live in a world, where no one goes hungry and everyone can be happy!" Ube said in a hopeful voice. Daiyu smiled and nuzzled her head into Ube's neck.

"That's my little Ube," She said with a joyous laugh.

Ube knelt in honor as his palm was lying flat on the floor. His eyes were still shut, yet he felt a wet drop hit the back of his hand.

He opened his eyes and noticed his eyes were crying. Ube took a deep shaky breath and stood up. He brushed his hands over his hair and let out a sad exhale. With a deep breath, he looked at his Omnitrix. He turned the dial, looking for the right silhouette. The face-to-device popped up. Before he could push down on it, he gave one more final glance at the alleyway.

He was taking one final moment to look at the place he used to call home.

"Thanks, Mom," Ube whispered as he pushed his face down, while a green light overtook his body.

Opal and Mr. Shi were walking toward the councilman's hall. They approached the building from far away. Seeing United Republic troops observing from above the buildings, while ground forces were making up security. They noticed a small line to get into the main courtyard. Opal could see the giant table from here, seeing all the exquisite and expensive food. She swore. She had only seen sets up like this at her home. Mr. Shi narrowed his eyes at the gate entrance seeing that most of the people inside were extremely wealthy.

"All the upper class is here, this is a solitary banquet. It's a tourist trap," Mr. Shi said in utter disgust. Opal nodded his head and gripped her fist tightly. The police at the gate were letting only the elite in.

As they got closer they could see a father and his son trying to get in. The two people guarding the gate weren't budging an inch. Mr. Shi now it is eyes, recognizing the two voices, and then can see the two people who are regarding the gate, resulting in him slapping his forehead.

"Aw come on not these two clowns," Mr. Shi said in an annoyed tone of voice. Up head was Gang and Lu acting as bouncers more than detectives.

"Please Sir, my son, and I need to see the spirits. They help us all the time in the non-bender ghettos," The man said, trying to get in.

"Yeah one of them kicked these criminals but so hard that they never came back again," The child said.

Lu and Gang were unimpressed and didn't falter at all.

"Beat it, kid! we got a strict guest list here so no exceptions that goes for the rest of you who are on the list!" Lu called out as this caused many of the people in line to fall back knowing it would be the same answer, leaving only Opal and Mr. Shi standing.

The two walked toward the two bouncers yet they were cut off by two other people.

An extremely well-dressed water tribe, a man with slick back hair, and a thin, mustache war, rich man smirks. He wore a fur coat, blue gloves, light blue clothing underneath that fur coat, and very sharp black shoes, to go with his blue dress pants.

The woman next to him was more neat and relaxed, looking more like the assistant, to this gentleman. She wore small circle black glasses. She wore a blue overcoat and a white skirt that reached past her knees. While her hair was tied in a neat bun.

Gu and Lang immediately stepped aside and opened the gate for the two.

"Oh Mr. Varrick, please come in," Lu said putting on a humble smile. The man walked by them and glanced at the two.

"I swear they're gonna be spirits at this party or else be a dead banquet you know what I mean fellas," Varrick said with a laugh. He snapped his fingers, the woman by his side was hyperfocus and waiting for his command.

"Zhu li do the thing," Varrick commanded. Then the assistant pulled two gold coins from her pocket and tossed them to Lu and Gang. Both of them were startled by the action and scrambled to grab the coins mid-air.

Mr. Shi and Opal were next and walked up to the gate. Lu picked up his clipboard and glanced at the two.

"Names, please!" Lu said in a monotone voice.

"Oh, Opal Beifong,"

"Shi Kanto and you can drop the act right because I recognize two usuals to the Happy Dragon any day, so I'll cut you to a deal, free meals for the next five days with desserts, I understand you two like cakes correct,"

The two looked at each other for a moment and stepped aside. Mr. Shi nodded at the two as he walked by he couldn't help but say. "Good men,"

Lu and Gang suddenly had a realization, realizing the girl's last name was the same as their police chief.

"Oh boy, let's hope she doesn't start any trouble," Lu said.

"You know the Chief gonna kill us, right?" Gang said as he slumped his shoulders in disappointment.

Opal walked along the many bleachers that pointed towards the banquet table of people sitting were more like spectators than dinner guests. She could see a podium set up in front of the councilman square.

The light from the surrounding buildings helped illuminate the area in a calm party mood. Opal was staring at the many people here, hoping that this was an elaborate trap.

"I hope this isn't a trap," Opal said her worries out loud.

"It isn't besides, I don't think they have enough man-powered to even take on that kid," Mr. Shi said with a stoic look. Opal didn't notice the moment they walked in, the restaurant owner was scanning the area studying all the people there. Also finally hearing his name, Opal could've sworn she'd heard that name before.

"Opal?" someone called out in shock.

Opal had spun around to see Lin who was walking towards her with a displeased expression. Opal let out a nervous gulp.

"Hey Aunt Lin," Opal said in a nervous, shaky voice. Lin had crossed her arms and glared at Lin.

"What are you doing here young Missy? This place is not for adventurous kids like you! How did you even get in here, " Lin said in a grave tone of voice. Opal couldn't take the pressure and powder head towards her aunt.

"I'm sorry Aunt Lin, I just wanted to see the spirits. Please don't be mad at me!" Opal said in an apologetic voice. The police chief was slightly taken aback by the apology. She was expecting more resistance and attitude. Yet her attention did go towards the man next to Opal.

"Kanto what are you doing here?"

"Lin it's alright she is being supervised by me I have to look out for one of my coworkers," Mr. Shi then offered a kind glance at the police chief. " Besides, I also hear how much you are overworking. Please tell me you're eating healthily and resting,"

Lin rolled her eyes and cracked a smile.

"I can take off myself not to mention I don't always need someone watching over me," Lin said calmly. She did, however, uncross her arms and calmly gazed at her niece.

"So you got a job well that's good to hear. Just keep out of trouble," Lin said, slightly relieved that her niece wasn't going to get into any trouble. She did thank her son for helping Opal, yet something deep inside the police chief still gave an amount of mistrust towards Opal. Lin thought about the situation she stumbled upon and realized there were bigger things on her plate.

"You two stay out of trouble," Lin said as she walked away. Opal exhales in relief. Kanto bumps Opal's shoulder playfully.

"Hey, she seems to be warming up to you in her way," Mr. Shi said.

"Let's just find some seats and remember if something goes wrong execute the plan," Opal said while Mr. Shi calmly knotted back understanding her. The two sat in the front row seats waiting for the guest of honor to arrive.

Lin walked toward the stage, sitting in personal chairs were Fire Lord Zuko, Tenzin, Bumi, Katara, and the other council members. Lin quickly noticed the absence of the white Lotus members. Yet they could be working in the shadows. Lin walked up to the stage, standing digitally by the speaker's podium. Lin looked at the people in the stands, however, her gaze still fell upon Opal who sat by Mr. Shi.

Opal waved to Lin, yet the police chief did not return the kind gesture.

Tenzin could see Lin was tense and wanted to help his old friend. He stood up from his seat and was about to walk to her only to be blocked off by Tarrlok.

"Tenzin please stay seated, the banquet is about to begin," Tarrlok informed with a hint of smugness. He was about to protest to his fellow councilman but was stopped by Katara who put a hand on his shoulder.

"It's alright Tenzin, please sit," Katara said. The nomad reluctantly agreed to sit back down. Tarrlok was satisfied, and about his head to the water, bending master.

"Thank you for being here today. I know your son didn't call you here but I'm glad you accepted my invitation," Tarrlok said with that showmanship smile. Walking away from the two. Tarrlok walked to the podium and cleared his throat. The last of the guests took their seats as the party was starting.

"Ladies and gentlemen I thank you for your participation in this grand banquet, to hopefully welcome and speak to the spirits, all of this is an attempt to gain some normalcy back in this city," His voice echoed in the courtyard.

"Thankfully this wouldn't be possible without the aid of Tenzin, now please watch and enjoy the first-ever peaceful negotiation between councilman and spirit," Tarrlok said sitting back down. He glanced at Tenzin seeing he was boiling with rage, Tarrlok showed him an innocent smirk. knowing full well, he was putting his fellow council members' reputations on the line.

"Mother, can't you see how dangerous this is, I can't believe you're even here to partake in this horrible debauchery of honoring the spirits," Tenzin said in frustration. Katara held a gentle smile.

"I wouldn't worry about any spirit showing up here, this place does give off the wrong energy to attract spirits," She said in an old wise manner. Fire Lord Zuko nodded in agreement with her.

"You see all this human greed, indulgence, and pride would scare away spirits, well it certainly wouldn't attract any good ones and we know for a fact all the bad ones are locked away," Zuko said with an unwavering tone. Tenzin realized what this meant, no matter what spirit wouldn't show itself, and he would look like a fool in front of the whole city. Yet he still felt hope on the horizon if one did show up.

The people waited and talked amongst themselves. except one individual stood out from the crowd and yelled to the podium.

"Man this place is dead, I might as well throw my money in the air and watch people fight for it is more interesting," Varrick said in a bombastic voice. Then he glanced at his assistant.

"Zhu Li write that down, I have an idea for a radio show," Varrick said. Mr. Shi rolled his eyes as they had to sit right next to the man.

Minutes had gone by waiting for anything. Bumi and Lin had their eyes set all over the exit and entry points towards the city hall, yet no guard or reporter noticed anything. Opal began to have a worried face, wondering where Ube was. There was a long silence as it appeared that no one was going to show. Tarrlok disappointedly mockingly shook his head towards Tenzin.

"That snake," Lin thought as she narrowed her eyes at the council member.

"Well, it appears that no spirit will arrive. I do apologize for any inconvenience to you people, and I will-." Tarrlok stopped talking as he noticed it was starting to get hotter. As he pulled on his collar.

"Sorry, just noticed the heat appeared in fall weather...at night," Tarrlok jokes. The people in the courtyard also noticed the heat start to rise. Opal felt as if a campfire was warming next to her. Then another bright light started to illuminate the courtyard. Lin quickly looked around, trying to see where the light switch was coming from, but realized it was coming from up above. She turned her head up. Her mouth gaped with shock. Seeing a giant fireball slowly plumbing down towards the middle courtyard.

Women let out a terrified scream seeing a great bag ball fire, falling to the ground.

"Goodness gracious everyone, hit the deck," Varrick yelled in terror. The crowd soon enveloped itself in mass pandemonium. Opal was about to get up from her seat but found a hand on her shoulder seeing Mr. Shi smiling at the fireball.

"It's him," Opal gazed in wonder, thinking of what alien form could allow her cousin to control fire. Without warning the fireball slammed down into the space of the courtyard. Lord Zuko jumped from his seat and was about to redirect the flames upward, so it wouldn't burn anyone. Yet before he could try to manipulate the heat, The flames shot up into the sky making them beautifully dissipate into the air. The flame didn't extinguish regularly. They popped like fireworks. Everyone's fears were halted seeing the light show above them.

The flames began to flow free like ribbons, being pulled by someone. Then those ribbons of fire began to twirl and circle each other, repealing someone standing in the courtyard. Opal's eyes widen seeing the familiar Omnitrix faceplate on the fiery alien chest. She gasped in excitement.

Lin and Tenzin watched as the congregation of flames began to stink and collapse within itself. Lord Zuko's eyes weren't and surprised as he looked at the fiery alien. Heatblast held up one finger as all the flames were being absorbed into his magma hands. Now in a matter of seconds, the great fire was reduced to a single tiny flame igniting on the pyronite index finger.

Heatblast brought his finger to his rock-like face and blew it out, equivalent to blowing out a birthday candle. Heatblast put his hands on his hips and looked around seeing everyone was in shock at what they were watching. Heatblast wasn't bothered at all because this was his party. He walked to the table, picked up an apple from the table, and looked at the fruit. The reporters let out yelps. Their cameras in their hands were shaking, too afraid to even click a button worrying that they might've upset the spirit with their flash.

"You want to talk then talk," Heatblast said. Opal was surprised as he was going off script. Katara and Lord Zuko were in awe at this so-called spirit. At the same time, Bumi's jaw was on the ground.

Tenzin could feel the sweat running down his shaved head. This spirit was not one of wind, but the element of fire. The Firelord felt a strange feeling of heat emanating from this fire inspector. He had only felt such heat from sense Sozin comet.

Tarrlok was stunned that a literal spirit made fire and rock was standing right there in the middle of the courtyard. He did clear his throat and was about to speak in the mic.

"Oh great spirit, you honor us-." Tarrlok couldn't finish, as Heatblast cut him off.

"Why are those people on the other side of the gate? I thought this was an open banquet," Heatblast said as he narrowed his glowing eyes. Tarrlok let out a nervous chuckle.

"Well, you see we can't allow everyone in here," Tarrlok said in a tempered voice. Heatblast glanced at the large table that stretched on for 40 feet, with exquisite drinks and food. Heatblast began to walk to the black gate, no guard wanted to stop him. Opal raised your eyebrow curious, wondering what he was going to do.

When Heatblast walked to the black gate he immediately recognized these hungry faces. The same face as he would always bring food to. The people who always fought for food and warmth. His eyes widened seeing a familiar father, and son, standing at the gate. The non-benders did not step away, for they felt no fear for the guardian who watched over them. Tarrlok had no clue what he should do next but before he could speak on the mic. Heatblast put one hand on the metal gate, then glanced into the eyes of one of the children who was on the other side.

"This banquet is for everyone," Heatblast said in a stern tone of voice that carried such volume it was not considered shouting but commanding. Tarrlok was stumped by Heatblast words then without warning, the black gate that Heatblast held, started to melt the bars around him, leaving a giant gap in the black fence. The people all took a step back. Yet the hot metal quickly cooled and Heatblast tossed an apple to the child who caught it.

Heatblast stood triumphant being a beacon to these people's darkest day.

"This banquet is for everyone!" Heatblast declared one more time. All the people on the outside of the gate were stunned by this declaration. The fiery aliens smirked and stepped aside for the public to enter.

"What are you all waiting for? Eat!" Heatblast said in a joyous shout. Many people were hesitant however a brave soul walked forward, being the father of the child with the limping leg. The two walked past the gate and bowed to Heatblast in a humble bow while they stood. The father couldn't bear to hold his tears of gratitude.

"Thank you for this meal!" He said humbly. Even his child did the same but as the two rose from the bow they both were surprised to see the fiery spirit bowing to them. The whole audience gasped at such humble action, by such a powerful being.

"Thank you for allowing me to help you," Heatblast said in his raspy voice. The two walked to the table and began to eat their fill. Another person walked in however Heatblast recognized this man. It was Gommu with that same silly smile.

Gommu bowed to Heatblast the same as the people before him.

"Thank you for this meal, and the hospitality you're showing us folks," Gommu said—heatblast bows to the man with great modesty.

"Thank you for allowing me to help you," Heatblast said. So many people began to walk in and form a line of greetings to the fiery spirit that let them into a grand feast. Heatblast minor floss, count how many times he bowed to these people might've been over a hundred, yet he didn't mind. Opal and Mr. Shi watched on with great pride. Opal cried a single tear of beauty at what she witnessed.

"Oh Ube always thinking about us," Opal said. Unfortunately, she was heard by the rich person next to Kanto.

"Kid I don't know who this Ube fella is but man, can this fire guy make an entrance," Varrick said in joy. He began to tap his fingers. "You think that guy does party tricks? I wonder how much?"

This caused Mr. Shi to slap his forehead in annoyance.

"I always got to sit next to the idiots,"

Tarrlok watched as the many people from the ghetto poured in, they laughed and smiled, eating food that cost this council so much money. Tarrlok wanted to stop this and turned to face Tenzin to ask for assistance. Unfortunately, when he turned around Tenzin was gone. Tarrlok looked to see where Tenzin went but could see he was halfway across the courtyard walking towards the spirit. Katara wanted to call out to her son but didn't know how to judge this spirit, she had met plenty of them in her journeys, and to get out of all of them, this one felt incredibly different.

Tenzin walked to the Heatblast who was finishing greeting the last of his guests.

"Thank you for the meal," A woman bowed. Heatblast returns the bow again.

"Thank you for allowing me to help you," Heatblast said. Tenzin then could see Lin walking by his side. The nomad was a bit speechless. The police chief shrugged her shoulders.

"Can't let you get burned to a crisp," Lin said, making Tenzin laugh a bit. Soon the two stopped being only a couple of feet away from Heatblast.

"Well, you certainly know how to break a room," Lin said in her usual sarcastic tone. Tenzin gave a respectful bow to Heatblast.

"Apologies for my friend, but we are very grateful that you have graced us with your presence, may I get your name?" Tenzin asked. Heatblast smiled and stood with great pride.

"Names Heatblast, I know who you are, Terraspin couldn't stop talking about you," Heatblast said. Ube had to admit he was getting pretty good at this lying stuff. Tenzin stood up and looked a little excited.

"Really, well if he's still interested in more lessons, I will be happy to teach him," Tenzin said. Heatblast smiled and walked by the two.

"Careful you don't want another tornado on your island, that guy always tends to get a bit carried away," Heatblast joked even though it was a jab to himself. Tenzin let out a chuckle seeing how the spirit appeared to be more lighthearted.

"So aren't you guys going to eat?" Heatblast asked. The two were more here for business than food. Tenzin gestures to the podium.

"Some of the council members and I wish to speak," Tenzin said as he led the way. Lin followed behind Heatblast making it feel more like a guard, watching a prisoner than a friendly guide welcome.

"We were expecting more of you, will the others be joining soon," Tenzin said. Heatblast Lesley put his two arms behind his head.

"Naw all of them have better things to do, I've got plenty of free time," Heatblast said. Lin raised a suspicious eyebrow at what he said.

"And what are they doing?" Lin asked.

"Watching over the city without saving everything and anyone," Heatblast said. Knowing fully well it was just him doing everything. Tenzin let out a tired sigh, knowing that they needed to talk to the spirits about this vigilante behavior. Tenzin thought in the beginning that the spirits were being disturbed yet it proved wrong when he recounted all the incidents he read about. It appeared that the spirits were intentionally trying to save people.

Heatblast walked closer to the podium, then before he could take the three steps that led to the platform, he stopped seeing an individual on top of the steps looking curiously at him. Heatblast felt his breath halt in awe. Seeing no other than Firelord Zuko standing there looking towards the spirit.

Lord Zuko was also in awe, looking at this strange being that stood before him. A living flame, and yet he felt no connection to the foreigner fire, to even think to attempt to bend it might make a fool himself. Zuko couldn't see or feel any hateful malice in the spirit's presence. Before he could speak or show his respect to the spirits.

Heatblast stepped onto the platform and bowed before the Firelord. Then quickly the fiery alien gently grabbed one of his hands and began to shake it. Zuko was a little surprised, seeing that the pan was made out of heat, but yet it did not burn him.

"Thank you so much for coming out here for a little old me. I'm hoping I didn't start any trouble, sir. I'm a really big fan of yours I think you're cool," Heatblast geeked out in a hyper voice.

Ube is always a fan of the stories The Last Airbender and his companions who helped stop the Hundred Years' War. He must have read those stories almost every night when he was a child. Inside Ube quickly realized what he did wrong. He pulled his hand away from the Firelord and gave an apologetic bow.

"Please forgive my impudence!" Heatblast said in worry. He was expecting to get yelled at by a king and make a fool of himself. He heard the sound of laughter, it made him raise his head seeing the Lord have the fire nation laughing. He wiped away a tear seeing how excited this Heatblast was. Opal facepalm in embarrassment. Seeing her cousin was slightly making a fool of himself.

"Well I've met plenty of spirits in my day, but I have to say you're certainly cut from a different stone," Zuko said in a happy voice. Heatblast wanted to ask for an autograph but realized that may have been a little over-the-top.

"Well thank you for accompanying the banquet," Heatblast said. then it dawned on him, that he could ask the unanswered question in most of those great avatar books.

"Pardon me, but I have to ask what happened to your mother?" Heatblast said. Zuko could've sworn that he was seeing more of a fanboy than an ancient spirit.

"Well, it's quite a long and interesting story," Before Zuko could answer the question, somebody cut him off.

"My, my, aren't you full of fire," An old voice called out from behind. Heatblast spun around to see no other than Katara. Heatblast felt his jaw drop.

"Oh my gosh! You're Katara, I'm such a big fan!" Heatblast then let out an excited scream. "Aaaaahhhh~!"

There is a moment of awkward silence as almost everyone in the courtyard looks at Heatblast. The shapeshifter gave a soft cough and acted like nothing happened.

"Sorry, just excited to meet you is all," Heatblast coughed into his hand. The old water bender master couldn't help but find something strange about this spirit. Most of them seemed detached from the world, knowing better than anyone yet this one seemed more attached.

"I have to say I haven't counted many spirits in my day. Nothing like you though," Katara noted in her honest opinion she couldn't see that whack of humanity. It was more human than a strange creature. Heatblast had a smirk and did a proud pose.

"What can I say, I'm just made of hot stuff," Heatblast joked and Katara couldn't help but cringe at the quip made. Katara had to admit she hadn't felt like that in a while. She oddly felt like her brother was standing right in front of her.

"You don't look upset at all," Katara said. Heatblast knew why he was here and to be honest, he was trying to take his time before he gave his big speech.

"I'm here to speak about my concerns and grievances," Heatblast said. Tarrlok overheard him and thought this was his chance to possibly rile up the spirit, with all these reporters here if this being a fire freaked out, he could use this to his advantage, gain more favor in the council, and then take over as a powerful member. People's fear can be easily manipulated by the right man. Tarrlok was about to reach for the mic when he was suddenly cut off by Heatblast, who wanted to speak before him.

"Sorry man, I just have to say something," Heatblast said.

"Hey, you guys in the stands eat as well! This is for everyone," Heatblast said. The rich people in the crowd were a bit hesitant. They didn't know if they should or not. Opal worriedly looked around seeing the concerned and disgusted faces period seeing these high elite people eat, with the poor.

"These people aren't gonna eat with them. This isn't gonna resolve some big fight, isn't it? Opal thought. no one moved from their seats out of spite or pride. Heatblast grew worried and even Master Tenzin hoped that this wouldn't backfire. This was the first time he had ever seen the poor being this close to the rich, in this city.

Then Mr. Shi stood up and walked down. He sat at the table and nodded at the people around him, welcoming him with open arms. Then Opal narrowed her eyes and walked down to sit with Mr. Shi, some people gasped at the action, finding it to be a bit appalling. attention grew amongst the elite however that notion quickly died out when an eccentric man stood up.

"Well, what are you folks waiting for? I'm starving!" Varrick yelled in a happy voice. Many people looked at each other and shut their shoulders, 'to hell with it,'

Varrick sat by Gommou who offered him a plate.

"I do say you dress quite appropriately sir," Gommou complimented. Varrick smiled and rubbed his thin mustache.

"Why thank you I certainly enjoy your Vagabond clothing as well, quite ingenuity," Varrick said.

"Well, thank you for noticing. I picked this out straight from my garbage can yesterday. Care for some frog eye salad," Gommou asked, offering the gelatin dessert to the man.

"Why yes I would love some!" Varrick said.

Opal watched as the people slowly approached the table and ate with each other learning to enjoy the other's company. Her gaze fell back to her cousin who was watching the event with joyful eyes.

"You are always thinking about everyone," Opal said.

Lin and Tenzin watched in surprise at how this event was supposed to be for the spirit, and yet it seemed more about building human bonds, than that of spiritual gratitude.

"All my time I never thought I'd see this," Lin said out loud. Tenzin silently nodded in agreement. Not even Avatar Aang could these people together and eat at the same table. The reporters who held their cameras could see the opportunity that lay in front of them as they took pictures of the event, making this go down in history. Some even took some of Heatblast and were surprised you didn't mind the camera flash. The Pryonite even made some poses. Bumi who was sitting next to Heatblast had to say something.

"You think you're doing a bit too much showboating there," Bumi said in a joking tone. Katara and Zuko were worried that might've upset the spirit. Heatblast shrugged his shoulders.

"Says the man who wrote five books about himself," Heatblast said. Bumi nodded at the verbal burn.

"Hm, touché."

Heatblast sat down in an empty chair and watched as the two different classes of wealth were enjoying each other's company. The event was full of laughter and jokes, and bonds being made. Tarrlok watched on in seething anger seeing that things were getting out of control he needed to put the fear into spirits and take the people's trust. Tarrlok quickly walked to the podium and took the mic.

"Well I am glad we can all enjoy the banquet but I feel there are some issues we have to address before we can continue," Tarrlok said. Tenzin narrowed his eyes at Tarrlok wondering how he was going to run this. Heatblast sat calmly and waited for Councilman Tarrlok to speak.

Mr. Shi knew how much of a snake this councilman was thanks to Lin's small rants. Tarrlok could see the crowd was on him.

"These past months, we have suffered from strange events, and our city is suffering more from these monsters, robots, and mad scientists. As much as we appreciate these noble spirits' help we must ask them to stop what they are doing to think about their actions."

Tarrlok glanced at Heatblast behind him.

"I've understood that the spirits' concerns are for the poor and defenseless. The sudden crime rate rise is concerning and all of these actions have been disturbing you. It is why I councilman Tarrlok and my other council members have agreed to look into the problems of the city, and finally address them, it will take time and resources that we do have at our disposal, so please great spirits, return to your world, and rest comfortably, knowing that we are looking into the situation at hand. Unfortunately, if this vigilante behavior continues from the spirits, we do have to act against it, please know that we are only looking out for the people of Republic City and their safety. Think about this, the spirits are helping us now, but what if they fail us, what if an accident happens and takes an innocent life even though they had the best intentions." Tarrlok said. every word that came out of that man's mouth didn't sit well with Ube. However, the most concerning factor was the 'look into it part'. Tenzin was about to yell at Tarrlok knowing full well he was speaking out of place. Even the Fire Lord and Katara had stunned faces at what the man had said.

The reporter hounded the council member with questions as he sat back down. acting completely innocent. The people sitting at the table murdered amongst themselves. Tarrlok was so sure that this spirit would outburst right here and now. When he turned to his side, all he could see was calm Heatblast. That didn't even look troubled. Tenzin was about to walk to Heatblast and apologize but Lin's hand stopped him from going any further. Tenzin could see the living flame stand up.

The murres stopped when Heatblast approached the podium. He glanced into the crowd seeing Opal and Mr. Shi watching on.

"Knock 'em, dead kid," Kanto thought. Heatblast gently tapped the mic, making sure it was on. Tarrlok knew he cornered the spirit with his speech. How is he gonna get out or would it make a fool of himself?

"I have failed," The declaration made everyone silent. Lin and Bumi thought that this speech was going to turn into a confession. Tenzin's eyes widened at the words.

Opal who sat in her seat had her mouth open. Ube had let someone die on his watch. no, she couldn't think like that, there had to be more.

"What do you mean?" A reporter asked. Heatblast took a deep breath and had a sad face.

"The reason why we keep helping you is because we failed one individual. It was a long time ago, but it is still fresh in my mind. There was a woman who was homeless. She had a child and they lived in an alleyway in a metal shed. It was a hard life for them, but she was a firebender and she always made sure that they were safe and warm. Despite how sad their circumstances were, they were happy." Heatblast said in joy. There was a momentary pause from the Ube. Lin's feet were glued to the floor. She recognized the beginning of this tragic tale.

"No matter how cold or how horrible the days were, the two stood against it all without fail, even the boy who had no bending helped as much as he could. The one day- one day, one day," Heatblast began to stumble on his words, and he had to stop and take a moment.

"One day the mother lost her fire, and they couldn't get warm again. Cold night after cold night the mother eventually fell to sickness of the worst kind due to the unsanitary conditions of the city. Then one rainy day she succumbed to her illness, even though one person passed away. It felt like two did as we watched a child crumble before us. We stood by and did nothing because we were afraid to do anything, thankfully her passing words were to get help, and if it weren't for the generosity of a kind police officer that boy would've died then and there." Heatblast paused again, tears of hot magma tripped onto the wooden podium. Tenzin held his head down in shame, any person who lost their life in this city was his responsibility. To hear it right in front of him was heartbreaking. Lord Zuko and Katara could hear the grief in his voice and greatly understood his pain.

"We failed that night, I failed that night, and it cost the life of an innocent. Because I was scared to even do anything while I watched life slip away, I understand that every person, no matter where they're from, has a flame inside them that burns with compassion, love, and hope. I must protect those lives." Heatblast slowly held himself with great stoicism. The people in the coward were looking to Heatblast, not a flame but great fire, whose words carried great passion

"I have to make sure no child has to see that world again. I hold on to that pain tight until it burns my soul, and I say no one will ever feel like this again, no one will suffer like this again. You can drag me to the spirit world, and back. Banish me to the deepest, darkest parts of the world. I refuse to let that happen again. Because there will never be another person to feel that pain, because I am here to protect that flame from the cold indifference in the world," Heatblast said as his words moved the crowd's hearts even the council members didn't know what to say. Opal had tears running down her face, realizing that this was her cousin's pain. This is what he held onto for so long, something he could never let himself down. Mr. Shi was completely quiet now, knowing why Ube didn't like fire.

"And one more thing to the people who want to hurt others or those who want me to stop, All I have to say is this... good luck because you're gonna need it," Heatblast had declared, as he was going to keep protecting these people. He backed away from his mic and slowly walked off the stage. The reporters flooded him with flashing camera lights and endless questions. Heatblast didn't even listen as a ring of fire enveloped him, making the reporters all take a step back. Tarrlok was at a loss for words as the people started to cheer him on. Heatblast used his fire to push the rock beneath him. Then quickly flew away on the flaming slab of stone.

Many were shocked or scared, yet a feeling of hope for a better future with the main feeling at this banquet. Lin's eyes were locked onto the flying Heatblast unsure what to say. Lord Zuko chuckled and glanced at his old friend Katara.

"Korra certainly does have a handful this era doesn't she," Zuko said.

"I would say it's going to be quite an interesting one," Katara said with a smile. Opal watched and smiled, clapping for her cousin.

"I hope you do make this world a better place," She thought.

Heatblast flew high in the sky, having said what he needed to get off his chest he was ready to take on the world. Heatblast could see his regular abandoned building where he goes to train. He flew downward and landed on the ceiling.

He landed the fiery rock on the ceiling, which had a ginormous hole in it. Heatblast thankfully had the DNA lock on the entire time so he was going to enjoy this form for a while. He glanced across the horizon, only holding, hoping in his heart that he would be able to make this dream come true. Heatblast looks down at his hand, admiring the fire within, finally feeling worthy of it.

"I'm going to do things right Mom," Heatblast said with a determined voice.

"I am honored to meet such a noble spirit like you," A voice called out behind him. Heatblast spins around, raising his open par, ready to set up a blaze of who is going to try to attack him. Someone walked out of the shadows, an individual wearing a white mask with a red dot on the forehead. Une knew who this was for the leader of the equalist, standing right in front of him.

"So The rumors were true, spirits do appear in the non-bending ghettos. It is quite fortunate for my cause," Amon said calmly and collected.

"What do you want?" Heatblast asked.

"I want to talk," Amon said.

Hey guys this is chapter 12 I hope you guys enjoyed this one, sorry if their any typos or mistakes I shall mix them later. Also, I know Amon wasn't the focus but I got so inspired to write this since I just couldn't put it off. Why not make Ube an actual symbol of peace? So why not kick it off with his humble banquet? I also think it's funny because both Zuko and Katara were vigilantes, Aka Blue Spirit and Painted Lady. Maybe they might figure it out. ;)

So what do guys think about Ube's speech? Also, we finally get to know Ube's mom's name. how cool.

I also found the next alien to show up. number 11 but we can worry about that later. Also just a heads up tomorrow I'll be posting the next chapter to a hero in the Beast Wars.

I hate to address but I notice some strange reviews about Ube saying that my character should die. All I have to say, it is what it is. People can say whatever they want about this story. I just don't want arguments to break out. Let the people hate and call it a day. However, I always do appreciate the reviews you guys leave on this fic, to the notes 'nice!' and the long in-depth ones. I'm just here to tell a story so please keep on enjoying the fic.

You guys have a good day, stay safe, and just let the people do what they want. Thank you:]
