Chapter 3: A Difficult Battle

Zack stepped forward as the other rangers nodded. It was time to test out the morphers and see if they were going to work, "It's Morphin' Time!"

As the rangers reached behind their backs, the rangers went to grab their morphers. As they did, the morphers stretched out as they went to strike them in front. All were silver with black lines containing a red circle with gold coins.

"Mastodon!" shouted Adam and Zack.

"Pterodacty!" Kat shouted.

"Triceratops!" Billy responded.

"Saber-Tooth Tiger!" shouted Minh and Aisha.

"Tyrannosaurus!" Rocky shouted.

As they pressed the buttons, the morphers did… absolutely nothing. As the rangers looked down, Billy turned around as he put his Power Morpher away. The creature laughed as he released a flame attack. The rangers dodged it as the palm trees were caught on fire. Team Rainbow Rocket laughed, "As long as you are here, you won't be able to use your powers."

Zack turned around as he looked at him, "Yeah, but we can still fight."

"Sharpizard, attack!"

Sharpening its blades, Sharpizard struck across. The rangers landed on the ground as they rolled across, falling on the street. The grunt laughed as he looked at him. Zack ran across as Sharpizard went to strike. Zack dodged it as he grabbed the creature by the tail. As the creature pushed across, Zack held on as he noticed that the creature was dragging him to a rock wall. Using his feet, he pushed up, landing on top of him. The creature roared as Zack tried to punch him. Punching him, the creature aimed its tail, releasing flames. Zack yelled as he landed on the ground, rolling as the smoke simmered from his jacket. Adam turned around as he looked at Zack, "I don't think that's going to work."

"No kidding," he said.

Minh turned around as she found a log, just heavy enough to use to swing. Swinging it, Sharpizard released silver flames, incinerating the log. She looked up as Sharpizard used its tail, smacking Minh across. Minh landed on the ground.

"Minh!" Billy and Zack shouted. As Minh carefully got up, Sharpizard roared as flames were released in the air.

"This is great…," said Rocky, "Anyone have better ideas?"

Aisha turned around, noticing Pawni. Pawni jumped up as it landed on the ground. The grunt laughed as it turned to her, "Please… let's not!"

Aisha turned around, examining the grunt. He laughed as he had a silver and red device. The device was controlling Sharpizard's movements. It made total sense. As she turned around, Sharpizard was heading straight for Quaxly.

"QUAXLY!"

"Quaxly!" Billy shouted.

"Billy, go for the grunt!" shouted Aisha.

Billy turned around as the grunt reached for his device, ready to press the button. Red sparks surrounded the monster as flames were about to be unleashed. It was obvious that the monster did not have a mind of its own. Billy used a sidekick in the face, causing the device to fall in the air.

"Now… Pawni, Thunder Shock!"

Pawni nodded as it jumped up in the air. Its yellow cheeks released an electric charge, destroying the device. Sharpizard yelled as sparks occurred.

"Sharpizard!" he shouted. He turned around as he went to press another device button. Before the rangers could defeat him hand to hand, a blue aura surrounded it as he disappeared. The rangers turned around as the grunt stepped forward, "So… it looks like you know what Pokémon can do. Fine, let's see how you handle this! Rattata, I choose you!"

Opening the Poké Ball, a purple rat landed on the ground. Billy turned around as he saw Quaxly, rushing toward Billy, fearing for his life. Billy crouched as he picked him up, "It's okay, you're safe!"

"Billy!"

Billy turned around as he noticed Clevell rushing over to him. Clevell took a deep breath, "These monsters are being controlled by Rainbow Rocket. But the grunts also have Pokémon to use at will."

"Wait, they have Pokémon too?" asked Rocky.

"As a precaution. You can use your Pokémon to battle!"

"Rattata, use Hyper Fang!"

The rangers noticed the Rattata's tail went up in the air. It was well trained. Immediately, the Rattata jumped up, ready to chomp on Pawni. As Pawni was bit, Pawni screamed loudly as Aisha watched, "Pawni!"

"How do we fight?" asked Rocky.

"Rocky, Kat, Billy… each of your Pokémon has a special attack they use. Allow me…," Clevell said, "Sprigatito, use Leafage!"

Sprigatito jumped up as a green aura surrounded her. Green petals and leaves struck Rattata. Rattata yelled as it landed on the ground.

"Fuecoco, use Ember!"

Fuecoco jumped up as flames emerged from its mouth, Rattata was hit again. However, Rattata was able to withstand it.

"My Pokémon are really strong," said the grunt, "Use Quick Attack on Sprigatito!"

Rattata jumped up, going as fast as it could, heading for Sprigatito.

"Quaxly, Water Gun!"

Quaxly jumped up as it released a blast of water. Rattata was hit. Rattata yelled as it was hit. Landing on the ground, Rattata turned around as it took a deep breath. Zack turned around as he looked at the rangers, "That thing is strong…"

Aisha turned around as she looked at the Rattata, "Kat, Rocky, Billy… I got an idea! Let's attack again!"

"You can't do diddly!" said Rocket Grunt, "My Rattata is way too powerful. Rattata, Take Down! Knock them all out!"

Rattata grinned as it dashed toward the four Pokémon. Gulping, Billy turned around as it was about to knock all four of them out.

"Billy…"

Billy looked up as he went to reach for his smartphone. A green glow surrounded it as he went to pick it up. A golden aura, symbolizing Arceus appeared on the screen, "Follow Clevell's advice."

Billy nodded as he turned around, "Quaxly, dodge it!"

Quaxly nodded as he turned to the other Pokémon. The Pokémon nodded as they dodged the Take Down. A flash of white light went into a rock wall, causing Rattata to land on the ground. Rattata screamed as it was hit by recoil.

"Morphinomenal!" said Zack, "Finish him!"

"Sprigatito, use Leafage!" Kat shouted.

Sprigatito jumped up as green leaves clustered around striking the Rattata. The Rattata yelled as it was bruised from the attack. Rocky nodded as he was next, "Ember attack, Fuecoco. Set his butt on fire!"

Fuecoco released flame attacks, causing Rattata to turn into a ball of flames. As the Rattata ran around, Billy turned to Quaxly, "Water Gun, Quaxly!"

Quaxly jumped up as a blast of water emerged from his beak, causing the Rattata to be soaked by the immense water from the attack. Rattata spun around as Pawni jumped up.

"Thunder Shock!"

Pawni yelled as blasts of yellow electricity formed, causing Rattata to land on the ground. Rattata rolled its eyes, fainting. The rangers turned around as the grunt withdrew its Poké Ball. A red laser beam struck Rattata as it returned. The rangers looked up as the grunt laughed, "You may have defeated my Rattata, and it was a tough level. However, you won't be able to defeat Robo-Zedd's monsters. Just because you're here doesn't mean your powers will work here."

Laughing, he turned around as he walked away, snapping his fingers as a blue aura surrounded him. Billy scratched his head as he looked at Quaxly. Quaxly grinned as he jumped up, hugging him. As Billy hugged Quaxly, Adam looked over to see Zack's jacket. Zack sighed as he saw the burns, "Darn it… that was a great jacket."

Adam nodded as he shook his head, "Well, I am sure we can find a new one. That monster though… without our powers, what are we going to do?"

"More importantly," said Zack, "Why won't our powers work?"

The rangers turned around, seeing Clevell. Clevell grinned as he walked over toward them. Billy reached into his pocket, picking up his smartphone. A green aura surrounded the phone as Alpha appeared.

"Alpha, do you know why our powers don't work here?" Billy asked.

"Well, that's the one thing I've been trying to figure out. I was able to check into our world with Arceus's permission. It seems that the Morphin' Grid was damaged during that Z-Wave. No one can use powers right now until it's fixed," Alpha said.

Rocky turned around as he looked at Alpha. Zack stepped forward, "Alpha, Robo-Zedd now has monsters like what we fought on Earth! How are we supposed to beat them?"

"I wish I could be there to go back and forth," Billy said.

Aisha looked up as she turned to Billy, "Hold on. We may not need to do anything right now."

The rangers froze and looked at her in confusion as she turned to her Pawni, "It seems Pawni was able to do some direct damage to Sharpizard before he backed away. Is it possible that maybe our Pokémon can defeat his monsters?"

"That would be a good theory," Adam responded.

"Well, rangers, while you were battling, it seems Sharpizard is a Pokémon Monster. The attributes for each monster Robo-Zedd creates exist. For example, here are the two monsters that he used."

The rangers looked up as a green aura surrounded the smartphone. A Bisharp and a Charizard were shown, "Bisharp is a dark and steel type, Charizard is a fire and flying type. Flying types are weak against electricity, but damage wasn't super effective because of steel-type attributes."

"Interesting… and how many types of Pokémon are there?" Kat asked.

"18 types to be exact."

Clevell walked over, watching them. The rangers turned around in shock as Alpha quickly turned off the screen by itself. Clevell took a deep breath as he went to speak, "All I can tell you is that with the new monsters, Paldea and other places will be Zedd's stomping grounds. Your rangers did a good job figuring out how to stop the monsters. It seems that these monsters have Pokémon DNA, which means you can use your Pokémon to battle."

"So… is there a weakness for every type?" asked Adam.

"Yes," said Clevell, "It seems you will need to know more about that."

The rangers walked over as Alpha went to talk. Alpha spoke over them, "At this point, our best bet is to stay in Paldea and listen to Clevell's instructions. Even if these Pokémon become more powerful, we can work together to save both worlds. The Paldea Region has mystery beyond belief."

Minh went to speak as she heard what was going on, "But, where do we begin?"

"Well, if we can figure out Sharpizard's type advantages, maybe we can work together to shut the monster down," Adam replied.

"There's a lot to look up though," said Aisha, looking at Pawni as the Pokémon climbed up on her shoulder.

"Yeah, but just like any roadblock, we can overcome it," said Rocky, looking at the rangers. The rangers were silent as Rocky folded his arms across his chest, "And I am sure with experience, we can try to stop Robo-Zedd in a different light."

For Billy, it made no sense as he went to process everything, but he was willing to figure it out, just like any issue or problem he dealt with in the past. He turned around as he looked at the other rangers, who then went to Clevell. Clevell grinned as he waved his hand. The rangers turned to notice a woman walking toward them. The rangers watched as she wore a black suit with a golden stripe down the middle. She had violet gloves and black shiny boots. She had violet eyes, and her dark hair was flowing down her back with purple stripes. Her face was tan-skinned.

"Power Rangers, I want to introduce you to Geeta. Geeta is the chairwoman of Naranja Academy and is the Top Champion of Paldea."

"It's a pleasure to meet you," she said, turning to the four Pokémon, "And it looks like you've a lot to learn about Pokémon."

A/N: Well, that was an interesting chapter to write. Rather than fighting monsters with their suits, using Pokémon would be a great idea. The monster will be back eventually, but this was also the time the rangers had to fight in a Pokémon Battle. So, I wonder what Geeta has in store for them. See you next chapter!
