Purah
I shoved a stack of notebooks off the table. Taking a hold of the paper underneath them.
I shook it violently as I went over to the machine in the corner. Dust fell off the paper.
I was fluent in six languages, but code was something I struggled with. Probably because I had a hard enough time remembering to practice my Goroeic to remember to practice my Morse code.
According to the Captain, Zeldy and her friends were most likely at Akkala Citadel, which had faced a massive siege, one that would've spelled the end for the famous battalion, but the monsters were successfully driven away to deep dark hell they came from.
Captain Sephei had tasked me with sending them the message while she and her men held them off. But they didn't know how long they could.
I flinched as another blast shook the building. Another book came loose from the shelf and slammed onto the marble floor. Causing me to jump again.
The other researchers were following my example. They were trying to find some way to override the Guardians. But the panic was making their actions and thoughts rash and all jumbled up.
I wasn't much better.
I prided myself on my work. I bragged on how accomplished I was, and my high success rate. But the truth was… I couldn't do half that stuff with Robbie, he's like a brother to me.
And he helps with the stress and keeps me from dissolving into a panic attack.
But he wasn't here right now.
My hands shook as I handled the device. I had to keep my hand steady, so I don't accidentally add another dot or turn a dot into a dash. But that only made the paper tremble worse.
I took in a shaky breath as another boom shook the Fort.
I entered the final digit and sent it off before allowing myself to slump against the side of the desk. The paper falling out of my hands.
I felt the cold hand of fear wrap itself around my heart, almost lifting it out of my chest cavity. I knew I was hyperventilating, but my all so brilliant mind couldn't work well enough to tell me to stop.
This time, I cried out with the other researchers as another boom came. Screams echoed through the small space.
Some distant part of my mind idly noted how much closer it was than the last one.
I only had enough time to wrap my hand around my kodachi before the door was blown off its hinges.
