Dib sat on the wooden bench. He assumed this is what people called people watching, only there were no people. He and Zim had once again been at each other and explosions and… well it was all pretty much a disaster, which is why most people had vacated the school area. In the end Dib had prevented Zim from… He actually wasn't sure what Zim was doing now that he thought about it. Something about the water supply or something like that.
Whatever it was though Dib was pretty sure he was up to no good which is why he had stopped him.
Dib sighed, he was always stopping Zim from doing things yet everyone seemed to think he was just some kid going around causing havoc. Even his classmates were all pretty much done with him at this point. What made matters worse though was lately Zim actually hadn't been up to much. It had been 4 years since he came to earth and he had actually…
…Slowed down quite a bit.
While it was true that the two were still rivals of sorts, they had sort of had a bit of a acquaintanceship as of late, which made Zim trying to… do something to the schools' water source far more bizarre. Perhaps Zim was just playing the long game, trying to get Dib off his guard, he wasn't actually sure.
Whatever it was Dib was glad he was there to stop Zim, even if his whole school did blame him for causing a ruckus.
"In deep thought?" Asked an all too familiar voice asked.
"Sure you want to associate with an outcast like me?" Dib asked Jokingly.
"I'll take my chances." She said as she sat next to him.
"So, what did Zim try to do this time?" She asked.
"I'm not really sure, but whatever it was I stopped him." Dib assured her.
"Well aren't you a little hero." She told him.
"Hey, I'm not so little anymore." Said Dib. I mean you were taller than me before but…
"…Oh don't remind me." She said as she gave him a gentle nudge on the shoulder.
The two kept talking, at first about what Zim was up to, then just about paranormal stuff and space travel and before he knew it Dib was totally nerding out. And she seemed to be enjoying every minute of it. She literally just sat next to him petting that little cat as though it were real.
"So, there I was ready to catch big foot… but it turned out to just be some really hairy homeless person." Dib ended.
"So, it seems like the great Dib may have made a mistake." Said Tak.
"Oh, I've made plenty, but I keep persisting…" He replied.
"Perhaps you should add some discretion on to your persistence." Tak insisted causing Dib to turn to her.
"What do you mean?" He asked.
"I'm just saying that sometimes you just rush in without assessing the situation. Perhaps you wouldn't have so many mishaps if you just took a moment to verify what's actually going on." Replied Tak.
Dib eyed her… this was a strange turn from the conversation. He suddenly felt slightly off.
"I would love to check but there isn't usually time to." He assured her.
"Oh but there's time to make a bigfoot trap?" She asked and basically mimicked his sister's raised eyebrow. Though Dib had to admit it looked cuter on her.
"Where are you going with this?" Asked Dib.
"Just saying like today with Zim." She replied. "You admitted you have no idea what he was doing but you stopped him anyway."
"Are you actually taking Zim's side?" Asked Dib.
"Of course not." Tak replied. "Just saying…"
"You weren't even there." Interrupted Dib as he stood up.
"I know I wasn't but…"
"In fact where were you?" Asked Dib.
At this Tak stood up.
"Now what are you getting at?" She asked him.
"I don't know, it's just odd I mean class was about to start and I don't remember seeing you before or after the incident. In fact I don't remember seeing you all day." He accused.
"Really Dib… Don't go there." She warned.
"Perhaps you and Zim were in on… whatever he was doing to the water supply together." He accused again.
At this Tak went silent and Mimi hissed at him almost like a real cat would.
"I think it's time for us to go." Said Tak as she turned to leave.
Dib suddenly felt like an anvil had dropped from his throat all the way down to his stomach. Part of him wanted to stop her from leaving, while the other part was still wondering if Tak had been in on… whatever it was with Zim.
So instead of calling her or talking it out, he simply turned in the opposite direction…
…and headed home.
