One day, the children and two teenagers... And Soos... Are once again hanging out inside the Mystery Shack... With Atlas drinking from a gallon of juice in the middle of the circle of friends.
Dipper and Juniper looked around awkwardly while the rest of the group chanted, "Chug! Chug! Chug!"
Soon enough, the boy in the hoodie ran out of juice and tossed the bottle onto the floor. With a huge smile, he puts his hands up in victory.
Mabel pretended to blow into an imaginary trumpet, "Dododooooo! And Atlas is crowned the Juice King!"
Atlas stomped both his feet on the ground, "Yeah! Thank you dehydrated body due to the hot sun!"
Which made the lumberjack ruffle the hair on his head...
...Though their celebration was interrupted by Soos. He peered down at his phone with a frown, "Uh oh, I gotta cut this short dudes! Mr. Pines says we gotta head out for a... Gotta go you know... Do a sort of business deal."
Aurora's eyes widened in interest, "Oooooooh! Business deal?"
The tall man shook his head and held up his hand, "Sorry, dude. Mr. Pines already told me you can't come."
The girl in pigtails snapped her fingers in frustration, "Aw man!"
The old man is heard outside with a shout, "Soos! Come on!" He honked the car horn before speaking to himself, "Those guys aren't going to buy these legit puppies themselves... Wait..."
This made the handyman start to hurry his pace but was once again stopped by one of the kids.
Dipper raises an eyebrow at the man, "Wait a minute, who's in charge while you and Grunkle Stan are gone then?"
The handyman pondered for a minute before pointing to his coworker, "Oh! Wait, uh be careful, dudes! I heard there was gonna be some fog later! But to answer your question... Uhhhhhhh, I guess Wendy is in charge." He turned his head towards his friend, "Is that okay, dude?"
The redhead pumped her fist in the air with a cheer, "Of course it is okay, man! Now go! Gooooooo!" She gestured for him to leave, which he did.
Juniper shrugged her shoulders with a smile, "Wow, I'm surprised you wanted to be in charge of the shack, Wendy."
Wendy laughed while picking her feet up on the counter, "Oh no, I just wanted to put my feet up and relax all day."
The black haired teen let out a giggle before relaxing in her chair, "Yeah, that sounds more like you."
The lumberjack then kicked the portable boombox right next to her, "Impromptu dance party, dudes!"
This made Mabel and Atlas cheer and immediately start to dance. Meanwhile, Dipper and Aurora simply shrugged and stood awkwardly. Juniper let out a giggle while shaking her head.
...
Eventually, the phone on the wall rang throughout the shack. Which prompted the worker to walk over and pick up the phone. She nodded her head occasionally, listening to the man on the other end of the phone.
Wendy then pumped her fist after pressing the button to hang up, "Yooo, that was Mr. Pines! He said him and Soos are gonna be getting back late! Who wants to close early and have a pizza party?!"
All of the younger children began to cheer. Dipper then placed the journal on the table in order to read it.
Juniper let out a giggle, "You mean you order it and have me pay for it."
Wendy then elbowed her friend in the arm, "You know me so well!"
The black haired teen clutches the area she hit, "Yup... Yes, I do."
Mabel hopped in between the two, "Sooooooooo! Have you two known each other a long time or what?"
Dipper had kept the journal open but held his head closer in order to listen in on them.
Wendy giggles before pulling out her wallet and opening it, "Juniper and I have been friends for a really long time, dude." She pulls the picture of her and her brothers out to show a picture of a much smaller version of herself and Juniper underneath to the girl. The younger Wendy is wearing a green shirt, blue overalls and brown boots while the young Juniper is wearing a pink shirt with a red heart on it, black shorts, a black sneakers. The two are hugging with huge smiles on their faces.
She shrugged, "We were born on the same day, in the same hospital too. Her mom actually works there."
Mabel gushed at the picture of the two, "Aw! Baby Wendy and Juniper! You two are birthday twins!"
The black haired girl nodded in response, "Yup, you got that right."
The redhead smiled before pushing her friend's arm, "Yeah! Now come on man, let's get that pizza." She then reached for her cellphone.
The girl twin cheered when she saw the redhead pick up the phone, "Woooo! And get garlic knots too!"
Juniper raised a finger with a concerned face, "Uh... About that!"
Wendy shook her head while still speaking on the phone, "Wait, wait, no garlic knots though. Juniper doesn't like 'em."
Mabel points at her, "Ha! She totally is a vampire! Who doesn't like garlic knots!"
The redhead hung up the phone after she finished placing the order, "...Someone who's allergic to garlic." She elbowed her friend's arm, "I ordered wings instead, dude. Like... A double order too with how much you eat."
This made her friend giggle nervously, "Aw come on, shut up about that..." But she lightly pushed her in a playful manner.
The tiny brunette gasped, "What!" She quickly turned to face the teenager, "You can't be seriously allergic to garlic, can you?"
The black haired teen backed up from the smaller girl, "Yeah no, seriously. Mabel, I break out in hives if I get even a lick of that stuff!"
Dipper rubbed his eyebrows while shaking his head, "Mabel, come on. She's not a vampire. If she was, she'd be burning up in the sun."
Aurora shrugged her shoulders, "Yeah and no, sparkling skin is not accurate to vampire characteristics. And to add to Dipper's statement, I think we would have known by now if she was a vampire."
The brunette pouted before folding her arms, "Okay, you got me there!" She then pointed at the shy teen, "But I have my eyes on you!"
In the background, Atlas shrugged his shoulders with a smile, "Anyway! Who wants to play charades?!"
Mabel's tone still remained serious, "I do!" She started to follow Atlas while walking backwards, "...My eyes are still on you!" She then turned and bumped into the wall but her face remained unchanged, "...Ow."
...
Soon after a long session of charades, the phone rang, which spooked everyone in the room. Juniper walked over and picked up the phone, listening to the restaurant worker on the other side.
She put her hand on her hip before hanging up the phone to address the group, "Uh guys, the pizza place just called and said the fog was too thick to drive through. They did say we could go pick it up if we still want the pizza."
Wendy spun the golf cart's keys on her finger, "I can go get it."
The other teen looked at her phone after feeling it buzz in her pocket, "Nah, don't worry about it. Uh... My mom is already out so, we'll meet up and get it. Besides, we both know my eyesight is better than yours at the night." She put her phone in her pocket while awkwardly shrugging her shoulders.
The redhead shrugged her own shoulders with a frown, "Oh... Uh, okay. See you later, June."
And with that, the teen with the heart stitched on her jacket headed outside the door...
...Which was several hours ago.
Inside the Mystery Shack's living room... The younger children kept themselves occupied in different ways but were clearly worried. Mabel was coloring in a puppy she had drawn.
Dipper had reread a segment of the journal multiple times before Aurora spotted a photo inside while holding the grappling hook she had reassembled, "Hey, what's that?" The creature in the picture resembled a giant sea monster with green scales and glowing yellow eyes.
The boy in the cap shrugged, "Oh uh, it's a... Fake Gobblewonker. Mabel and I got this picture on Family Fun Day at the lake."
The girl in pigtails stops reassembling the grappling hook, "Aw what! You guys got to go on a whole adventure?! All I got was a dad lecture about fishing..."
Atlas then spoke up from off to the side, "At least your dad got in the boat! My mom and I were waiting for mine to stop crying about the tree cut down to make the canoe."
The boy was revealed to be lightly hitting his head against one of the walls in complete boredom.
Eventually... Wendy looked at her phone to check the time before peeking out the window, "Juniper's been gone for a really long time, guys. I know she enjoys the night time but she doesn't normally stay out this late."
Mabel pointed to the TV with her wide eyes, "Uh... Guys!"
On the nearby television, an image of a large bat is shown flying over the town. It's a bit blurry but it is clearly a giant, black bat with large fangs.
A man's voice is heard reporting the news, "This just in! A giant bat has been seen flying over Gravity Falls. It has already attacked several people and small animals so we are assuming it is a vampire... Or something. Everyone is cautioned to stay indoors. But good news is, the fog should be clearing up soon!"
Wendy quickly opened the door and made a pushing gesture to speed everyone else, "Come on! We gotta get Juniper before she gets hurt!"
Mabel stopped in the doorway before pointing her grappling hook upwards, "OR! She IS the vampire bat thing!"
The redhead folded her arms in frustration, "Mabel!"
The brunette raised her hands in the air, "What! It's a possibility!" She ran off when she saw Wendy's face, "...Okay, okay, I'm leaving now."
...
Now in the town... The group quickly rushed down the street, passing by so many buildings on the golf cart... They look closely despite the high speed.
Meanwhile, Juniper is down the street walking with a taller man with large fangs and point ears...
...Ears that look similar to the bat's seen on TV.
Dipper gasped while pointing at the duo, "Guys look! There's Juniper and the vampire bat! But a person!" Though he ignored the fact that she was carrying two pizza boxes with two take out containers on top of it.
Meanwhile, Wendy rushes to push her friend behind her, shielding her from potential danger. She picked up her axe to point it at the tall stranger, "Get away from her, man!"
The man backed up, which resulted in him falling backwards with his hood leaping down his face, "Woah! I do not want any trouble! I swear, lumberjack girl!" He had a strange accent, like a cross between Transylvanian and country. He was extremely pale with blonde hair and sharp purple eyes. His ears are pointy, a sharp nose, a beauty mark under his right eye and large canine fangs poking outside his mouth. He is wearing a black vest with a white undershirt, gray pants, black boots and a black cloak wrapped around his shoulders.
Surprisingly, the other teenager jumped in front of the mysterious man, "Wait, woah! Guys! Put the weapons down! This is my dad!"
Wendy froze upon hearing this, "Your what?!"
The man behind Juniper stood up with his hands extended in front of himself, "It's true! Juniper is my daughter!" He awkwardly reached to shake the redhead's hand, "Lumberjack hat, freckles... You must be Wendy Corduroy! My daughter has told me so much about you but I've never gotten the chance to meet you in person! My name is Oleander but I guess you can call me 'Mr. Blake'. Though I suppose it is true, I am a vampire. But I'm not attacking the town, my daughter and I were just taking a walk."
Wendy narrowed her eyes before she pointed at her friend, "Juniper, you told me your dad was dead!"
The older man backed up, "Oh yikes, this sounds like a heavy conversation." The children all followed his lead took a step back.
Juniper rubbed the back of her neck, "I... Uh, wait. Yeah, I may have not told the truth... My dad's been living in my family's basement the whole time."
The freckled teen folded her arms with a raised eyebrow, "Are you serious?"
The dark haired teen slumped her shoulders, "Wendy... I swear, I didn't want to lie to you for so long. I just..." She then sighed, "It went on for so long and when your mom... Passed, I couldn't find a good time to actually tell you everything. I was scared of what you would think of me if you found out I was half monster. You were my only friend for a really long time and I didn't want to lose that..."
The redhead folded her arms with a frown, "That doesn't excuse it! You could have said he worked overseas! Military, anything!"
The half vampire nodded, "I know! I know! Wow, you're right about that part." She played with her hands nervously, "But I'm so sorry, I just... I didn't know what to do. I'll do anything to make it up to you."
Wendy let out a sad sigh, "Juniper, just..."
But then, Aurora quickly chimed in, walking next to Wendy, "Wait, not to interrupt this emotionally charged conversation between two teenage girls... But if you aren't the vampire bat like Mabel thought and it's not your father, then what's been attacking the town?"
Suddenly, something swooped over everyone's heads... Something big. It twirled in the air and opened it's wings to reveal that it is indeed... A bat with giant fangs. Not unlike Juniper and her father's own.
The monster hissed at the group, it's fur black with eyes shining like the moon.
Aurora hid behind Atlas before speaking again, "I see! So it is a giant vampire bat! ...Atlas, you're my meat shield."
The boy shrugged his shoulders, "Yeah, I had a feeling I was gonna be that." He spread his arms to appear bigger, "Just stay behind me, it ain't gonna get ya!"
Dipper backed away, slightly pushing his sister behind him, "Woah! Come on, maybe we can outrun it with the golfcart?" The girl behind him nodded...
But then the giant bat turned it's attention to the brunettes, shooting through the air in an attempt to attack the girl.
Wendy took a step forward with her axe in hand, "Dipper! Mabel!"
However... The beast stops upon smelling the air... The scent of meat had caught it's attention. It turned it's head to see Juniper climbing up a drain line running along the side of a nearby house.
The teenager pulled herself up onto the house, "Hey! Over here! You're hungry, right?!" She held up the food container holding the wings.
Wendy gasped before attempting to climb up the pipeline, "Juniper!"
Oleander put his hands on her shoulders to keep her on the ground and he shouts at the other teen, "Juniper, no! Get down from there!"
But the monster followed the girl on the roof, smelling the scent of meat from the wing in her hand.
The black haired girl nearly slipped off the surface, "Woah, woah, woah!" But she regained her balance and turned to face the creature, "Here! Have some of this!" She picked the container up in the air...
But then the teenager opened the sheet metal fully, revealing that there was garlic knots inside instead of wings.
The beast gasped before backing away from her. It opened it's large wings and barred it's fangs in a hiss.
Juniper took out one of the garlic knots and waved it into the air, "Yeah! You don't like that, do you? I can barely stand the smell!" She threw the food at the giant monster, ignoring the sting in her fingers.
The garlic knot made contact with the creature's arm, causing the area to become red and swell up. The pain caused it to fall off the roof and onto the ground in front of the group. It lurched forward towards the girl's father.
Wendy stood in front of Oleander, holding her axe threateningly. Though the father behind her lets out a growl, showing off his fangs to threaten the beast.
Atlas picked up his fist while Aurora clutched his jacket to keep him in front of her.
Mabel quickly jumped in front of her brother, picking up the already thrown garlic knot off the ground. She held it like it was a sword in front of her.
Juniper then slid down the roof, holding the garlic knots in the air. The smell nauseating herself, her father and the beast.
Feeling the pain from the garlic laced food, the giant vampire bat flapped it's wings and flung itself into the air. The creature clumsily flew away from the group, roaring and hissing on it's way out of town...
Juniper cheered through the pain, "Yeah, you better run! Er... Fly!"
She then hissed, clutching her reddened hand, "Ow! Ow, hives!" It began to swell, slowly but surely taking over the fingers. The food container dropped to the floor, the garlic knots falling to the ground.
Wendy reached into her pocket and pulled out an EpiPen, "Woah, hang on!" She stabbed the girl in the leg and the medicine made the swelling go down. She let go after it was in securely, "You okay?"
The half vampire put her hand on her chest while she breathed in and out, "Wendy... Do you just carry one of my EpiPens on you all the time?" Her eyes widened at her friend...
The freckled girl nodded back at her, "Well, of course I do. I don't care if you're half monster or whatever. You're my best friend, I don't want some vegetable do you in!" She yanked the other teen into a hug.
Juniper hugged her back, "Haha, yeah... Mine too." However, her face held sadness upon hearing 'best friend' come out of her mouth... But she still smiled, "So... I'm still sorry about the years long lie."
Wendy shrugged her shoulders after releasing the girl from the hug, "Aw, stop worrying about it. I get it, I can see why you couldn't figure out how to tell me. Plus you just risked your life to save us from that giant bat! You're forgiven, just don't let it happen again. Oh aaaaand you have to pay for my food for the rest of eternity. Deal?"
The black haired teen nodded her head with a smile, "Deal!"
A cloud above them passed by, with the moonlight revealing that Juniper's two fangs are now poking outside her lips.
The redhead blurted out quickly, "Is it me or do the fangs make you look ten times cuter?"
The half vampire blinked, missing what she said, "What."
Wendy blinked back at her, "What."
And an awkward silence followed...
But Wendy continued the conversation, "So... Why DID you get garlic knots? You're allergic to them."
The black haired teen motioned to the girl twin, "Well, I actually got them for Mabel." She shrugged her shoulders before rubbing the back of her neck, "She seemed pretty bummed that you weren't ordering any but I figured the potential hives would be worth it." She then whispered to Wendy, "Besides, I had to get another pizza otherwise, there wouldn't have been enough with just one pie."
Mabel waved her hand in the air, "Awww, you didn't have to do that! I wasn't THAT upset!" She pulled the girl into a hug before quickly letting go, "But thanks, Juniper."
The adult looked at his watch, "I'll have to leave, kids, but it was nice to finally meet you, Wendy." He shook hands with the mentioned girl before smiling at his child, "And Juniper, I'll see you tomorrow night."
The teen hugged her father, "See you, Dad! Have a good flight, okay?"
With that, Oleander let his daughter go and jumped into the air. His form shifted into that of a giant vampire bat, albeit with purple eyes rather than silver and his chest fur is blonde. He flapped his large wings before shooting off into the early morning sky...
Aurora rolled her eyes, "Jeez, Juniper! Next time, tell us your dad is some giant vampire man before we go out to find you in the dead of night."
Atlas shrugged his shoulders, "Psssh, leave her alone, Aurora. Come on, at least everyone is fine!" He then lead his friend back to the golfcart, eager to have pizza back at the shack.
Mabel walked over to the older girl while tilting her head, "Sooooo... You ARE a vampire?"
Dipper chimed in while pointing his finger in the air, "Actually! This makes Juniper a dhampir!" He stopped when his sister simply stared at him, "...It's the official name of someone born between a human and a vampire. Since you know, her mom is a human and her dad is a... You know."
The girl twin grinned triumphantly, "Oooooh... So technically! I was correct!" She then jumped up and down excitedly, "Oh! Oh! Does this mean you drink blood and can turn other people into vampires?!"
Juniper gave her a shrug, "Ehhhhh, I can give you half a pass on that." She stuck out her tongue in disgust, "I'm sure I can but ew! Blood is gross! But it makes me starve like all the time. It's why I have such a big appetite."
The brunette gasped dramatically, "Whaaaat! That's so wild!" She then started to giggle, "Also hehehe, I get it... Half. Cuz you're half vampire."
After a quick laugh, Dipper then held up his journal with a smile, "Hey? Juniper, do you think I can write about dhampirs in the journal using you for a base?"
The half monster nodded with a fanged smile, "Uh, sure, dude. I don't see why not."
The two began walking with the rest of the group back to the golfcart... Though Juniper walked back on her own after realizing she had to get another order of pizza from the restaurant...
Back at the Mystery Shack... Dipper and Juniper began writing in the journal, putting the dhampir entry right next to the vampire entry... With even some additions from Wendy's input about the two's childhood...
