Beacon Academy
-Mistral-
"We now arrived at Mistral Station. I repeat, we are now at Mistral Station."
The students-to-be stopped at Mistral Kingdom. The rest that aren't going to Haven Academy are gonna head to an airport to Vale.
Weiss then steps out the train and turned to the blue-haired boy. She was about to leave, not wanting to have a conversation. "Um..." He spoke. Weiss turned to him in response, but wasn't sure why she bothered to hear what he was going to say next. Weiss turned around briefly and rolled her eyes before turning back to him.
"Yes?" Weiss asked, tapping her right heel.
First he was a confidant "heart-throber wannabe" when they met in Argus. But now he was at a loss for words. Until he came up with a sentence. Weiss sees a blush in pink on his cheeks. Boys from Atlas would often try to woo her for her status as an heiress. But none had fooled her given her father never loved her mother and only married her for her fortune, for as long as Weiss can remember.
Of all the young men she met, the one in front of her seems stunned. But then he shook his head and spoke. "Will I ever see you again?" He asked.
Weiss blinked. Pondering the fact of when he will see her again. He wasn't asking for anything in return. Not sure if this was a trick, or a prank. But for some reason, she just feels like listening.
"Not sure." Weiss replied, firmly. But before she walks away, the boy called out, "It's Neptune!"Weiss stopped to turn around. The boy now called Neptune takes a deep breath to calm himself. "It's Neptune Sky." Neptune extends his hand to offer friendship. Weiss relectantly shakes his hand before letting go. "Weiss." She says, not daring to say her last name.
Despite her cold stare, Neptune happily nods, wanting to know more about Weiss. He took out a piece of paper and wrote down his number. "Here, just in case. Can't wait till the Vytyl Festival." Neptune winked at her again. The fact that Neptune never asked for her number. He just offered his to her. Weiss was stunned, she cannot tell why she felt her cheeks hot at the sight of the boy.
Without looking, Weiss got tripped by her own feet. Causing her to almost fall. "Whoa!" Weiss exclaimed. She nearly fell on her own face. However, she was caught by Neptune as he saw this. Weiss felt shaken as she saw Neptune this close to her, feeling mesmerized by his eyes. But he immediately lets her go. Neptune felt bad for bothering Weiss. Blushing after the unintentional move.
"Sorry. Just feel like helping you again." He backed off and apologized, then waved goodbye to her as he left. Weiss' face went from pink to red. She looked away. The feeling of Neptune's arms, it felt gentle and soft. And felt warmth that comes from him. But she shook her head to keep her head up. Her eyes squnited to snap back to reality. She cannot let herself be distracted by people her father claimed to be "out of the high-status circle." Meaning she cannot associate with those below her family status.
No, don't even think about it, Weiss. You're a Schnee. No distractions. You're supposed to be the best. Nothing more.
Weiss simply folded and stuffed the paper in her bag. Awaiting her next flight to Vale. Neptune continued to see her off before heading to Haven.
He was met by his best friend, a monkey faunus with a tail and blonde hair, he has ripped jeans and sneakers, and a white short that was unbuttoned, exposing his abs.
"Forget it, dude." Said the blonde faunus. Recognizing who Weiss is from the media. "She is out of your league."
"Sun, you kidding? She's a mystery and I like it." Neptune admits hiding his blush. Sun shook his head in disaproval.
"Neptune. Hate to tell you this. But she's bad news and you better stay away from her." Sun warns him, considering that the Schnees has bad history with Faunus. Neptune wasn't sure what to make of his comment but brushed it off. Since he knows that people are not who they seem behind the mask.
"Dude, it's a little late for that." Neptune told him, after remembering he gave her his number. But didn't mind at all as he just wants to be respectful. "Besides, you wouldn't know her until you get to know her." Neptune assured him.
Weiss walks out the station to meet with a man in a grey suit with a snowflake emblem that represents the Schnee Family. He was standing in front of the limousine. "Miss Schnee." He said, opening the back door of the limo for her. Weiss nods and gets in.
After sitting down, Weiss takes out her scroll. To text a fellow user on a forum, who she has yet to meet in person. In a forum about a book club. She secretly likes the literacy of books, poems and battle strategies.
Her username is Snowflaker6. And the other user she is communicating with is MidnightBlue9.
Neptune takes out his scroll, turns out his user name is MidnightBlue9. And the two had yet to find out.
Snowflaker6: Did you catch on the novel of Across the Stars?
Neptune replied to the text to keep himself from getting bored on the way to Haven.
MidnightBlue9: Just got to Chapter two. Aaron Skywaker just got a a little arrogant than how he was as a kid.
Snowflaker: No kidding, it's like the council of gladiators kept him in checked.
MidnightBlue9: Wanna tell me about the rest of the chapters?
Snowflaker6: I'd rather not spoil the story.
MidnightBlue9: Same here.
Neither Weiss, nor Neptune had any idea they were talking to each other.
At the same time, Jaune and Pyrrha also stepped out of the same train. Jaune cannot help but feel happy he found a friend to talk to. Pyrrha also felt the same, the smile just rose on her face.
"Seven sisters? Your family must be big, Jaune." Pyrrha told him. "It must be nice to have family around. Being an only child myself, I wish for a sister for a very long time. But I don't mind having a brother too." Pyrrha said to Jaune.
"Well, if you were me. It's not easy being in a full house of siblings when they were juggling some things." Jaune replied with a laugh. But then he came to a stop when he frowned. "Trust me, it's too much. But my sisters are cool though." Jaune adds. "But my oldest sister, Saprhon is the best."
"She does sound nice." Pyrrha brushed her hair back. The mention of siblings makes Pyrrha wanted one herself. But her parents were busy on jobs to get her to Beacon. And she appreciates it.
"Do you have a favorite fairy tale?" Pyrrha asked. Jaune spun in surprise, cause normally, nobody would speak of interest. But meeting Pyrrha now, he felt like he can just be honest, but not all of the details.
"I guess one was called the Huntsman's children. My dad told me this story time and again." Jaune replied. "And now it's been stuck in my head."
"Mine was the Four Maidens. It's interesting when they were myths and legends. I think what our ancestors witnessed was according to the books." Said Pyrrha.Janue felt nothing more but feeling glad he made a friend. Even for a second. He was nervous to set foot into the school, but now he doesn't. But what will await him is not going to be easy.
A trial for the new students is what will come.Pyrrha and Jaune tried to come up with some more words. But neither of them have something to word out. Jaune looked away, trying to think. Pyrrha stared deeply into his blue eyes.
To her, Jaune is quite the mystery. But was glad he didn't figure out who she is yet. Cause for her, it was better that no one shove her fame into presence.
"So, after the inauguration ceremony, wanna go for a look around Vale City? I wanna have a tour in tbe city." Pyrrha asked. Jaune was surprised that he never got invited for hanging out with friends.
"Wait, you're asking me?" Jaune asked. Pyrrha was stunned, thinking she offended Jaune by just asking to hang out around tbe city. Jaune blinked as he realized her reaction.
"Um, sorry. I mean..." Jaune cleared his throat. "Sorry, I never got invited by a friend before. But sure. I would like to." That made Pyrrba feel better. Feeling glad she found herself gaining a friend.
"Well, then. We should get going." Pyrrha smiled as she blushed. Grabbing her suitcase with necessary items for Beacon.
Jaune stumbled forward as he just remembered about the flight. "U-um. Yeah, that's right.""You know, the city is known as the city of light." Jaune and Pyrrha turned to see a black-haired girl with a bow and amber eyes. Her soft glare kinda scared Jaune. But Pyrrha knew the girl mean no harm.
"I couldn't help but overhearing. Kinda heard you guys are going to Beacon. Said the mysterious girl. Closing the book she has been holding in front of her face.
"It's alright, friend. Say, is that the book called "A Man with two Souls?" Pyrrha asked. Seeing the book in her hand.
"Yes, it's about a man whose soul was split into two when a spirit awakens. Fighting who can control each other's lives." Said the amber-eyed girl.
"W-wow. Quite interesting." Jaune stammered.
"Have you been to a combat school?" Pyrrha asked.
"Actually, I didn't. But I did pass the entrance exams. Since I grew up on an island." Said the girl.
"Really? I guess combat school isn't needed when doing entrance exams. But it's cool though." Pyrrha said.
"An island? Sounds amazing. Think you can tell us more?" Jaune asked. But the girl turned around and walked off. "Maybe some other time." Said the mysterious girl. Leaving Jaune and Pyrrha confused.
-Vale-
Ruby was astonished to see a huntress in person. The hubtress before her looked at her with a mix of seriousness and concern. Amazed, Ruby watches as they stand against the enemy party.
In the ship that Roman was using to escape from the pursuers, a young woman in a red dress and glass heels and diamond anklets emerged from the cockpit.
The woman then uses her semblance by heating the spot Ruby and the huntress were standing on. The huntress notices this and uses her semblance of telekinesis to move Ruby out of the way. She back flipped away. And the spot of the floor exploded into rubble.
With it, the huntress uses her semblance to lift the rubble into the air and send it towards the ship to prevent the criminals from leaving. It did made an impact on the ship, but it made no avail as the vehicle kept flying away. The woman made one last move by blasting fire with the same rubble to threw at the huntress.
Ruby wasted no time to shoot her sniper at the ship, but it only created small dents.
But once again, the huntress uses her semblance to block the rubble against them. Colliding with the invisible force of telekinesis.
But to the huntress' dismay, the criminals got away. She then turned to Ruby, who stared at her in awe to see a real-life huntress in front of her.
"You're a huntress?" The huntress nods, Ruby's eyes lit. "Can I have your autograph?!"In the Vale Police station, Yang and Taiyang were informed of the incident by the huntress that saved Ruby. They were grateful to her, but at the same time, they were worried because Ruby got into trouble despite her good intentions."Ugh, Ruby, what were you thinking?" Yang groaned, though proud of her sister for standing up against the criminals that robbed the dust store. This still got her worried.
Taiyang sighs, being a single father, it's understandable that sometimes it's hard to keep track on teenagers when it comes to having a job as a combat teacher. No one would know if anyone can wander around alone.
"At least she didn't get hurt. I should've known this would happen." Taiyang adds. Still relieved that his younger daughter is safe. But still shaken by the events that not only landed Ruby into a situation, but also nearly getting killed by a crime boss.
"Dad, don't worry, you did fine. I guess Ruby just let her ways of helping people getting the better of her. Or maybe Uncle Qrow's training got to her." Yang assured her father. But that didn't make her feel any better.
Then a man in a black casual coat and pants, along with the green short and scarf came in. Holding a cane, white hair and reading glasses. He seems youthful for his age.
"Worrying as always, Mister Xiao Long." A voice is heard. Taiyang and Yang turned to see who it was.
The Police officers saluted him in respect, being the headmaster of Beacon. "Professor, how can we help you, sir?" Asked one of the officers.
"Professor?" Taiyang inquired. Yang cannot believe she seeing the headmaster himself.
"I would like to speak with the young lady with the scythe. I would like to have a word with her." Ozpin requested, interested for how the girl managed to use a scythe. In the interrogation room, Ruby was questioned by the same huntress that saved her. And because Ruby isn't a liscensed huntress, she was taken in. Ruby felt death tone by the sound of her voice.
"I hope you realized that you could've been killed during the battle. And it's not just you, but other people who had gotten involved. And your actions will not be taken lightly." Said the huntress, whom Ruby learned is named Glynda Goodwitch.
"They've started it!" Ruby protested. While intentions can be good, it sometimes lands anyone into conflict. Which happened right now.
"If it were up to me, you'd be sent home." Ruby blinked as she listened. "With a pat on the back." Glynda continued as she paced around while speaking. Then she glanced back at Ruby. "And a slap on the wrist." Glynda told her as she slammed her crop whip on the table near Ruby's hand. And she snatched it away before it did. Glynda might mean well, but she just doesn't take breaking the law lightly.
"However, there is someone who wants to meet you." Glynda said as she stepped back. Behind her is Professor Ozpin. "Ruby Rose." He spoke. Ruby is stunned to see the veteran huntsmen herself, Professor Ozpin. One of the oldest hunters and headmaster of Beacon Academy. The school she hoped to get in. Since she is still two years behind to graduate from Signal.
The headmaster looked at Ruby curiously. "You have silver eyes." Ozpin said to her. Leaving Ruby confused. He eyed her as if she had some resemblance to one of his former students. Or someone he worked with years ago. But Ozpin decided to talk about the main subject.
Ozpin sat down a plate of cookies and milk on the table Ruby is sitting in front of. Once the cookies were placed on the table and slid to Ruby's side, she wasted no time to munch it down.
"Now then, can you tell me where did you learned to do this?" Asked Ozpi as Glynda shows the video of Ruby using her scythe to fend off against Roman's gang.
Ruby was still earing some cookies that seemed full on her mouth. "In Signal Academy."
"There hasn't been a scythe user for years after the opening of Signal Academy. Was there anyone who could've taught you that?" Ozpin knew there was more to the story.
Ruby finished chowing down some more cookies, and sip down some milk. She swallows to continued with the conversation.
"That would be my Uncle Qrow. He's a teacher at Signal. He is the one who taught me on how to use it." Ruby replied, thrilled that someone sees her skills.
"That's dusty old Qrow for ya. He was one of the few who used it when he was a student of Beacon. Reckless, but skilled." Ozpin explains. Recounting the times he had seen one of his students with unique, but also dangerous weapons.
"I was a complete mess before he took me under his wing. But now I seemed to be ready, and whoo! Wha-cha!" Ruby performed karate chops.
"I noticed." Ozpin then puts down his coffee mug on the table.
"So let me ask you this. Is there any agenda you have to train in a school meant to train warriors?" Ozpin asked.
With full determination to demonstrate to the headmaster, Ruby decided to speak. "I want to be a huntress." Said Ruby."Is there more to this goal than to slay monsters?" Ozpin is curious to see that the eyes of the girl can tell more than her own words. "To be honest, my parents are huntsmen. My mom used to tell me stories of heroes and villains. I mean, I have two more years before I graduate from Signal. My sister is also starting to enter Beacon tomorrow to become a huntress. I mean, I want to know more what the ways of a huntsman was like, if there was more than just fighting monsters and stuff." Ruby stated her story.
Silence was filled for seconds. Glynda remained in a calm posture. Ozpin then decided he should let Ruby skip grades to enroll her in Beacon. Something tells him that she might be more capable than the rest of the Signal students her age. That is something it had to be foreseen itself.
"Do you know who I am?" Asked Ozpin.
"You're Professor Ozpin of Beacon Academy." Ruby replied.
"Nice to meet you, then. How would like to enroll into Beacon?" Ozpin asked.
