Hello there, this is something I've been thinking up for quite some time but was a little nervous to post it. Until now of course.
A couple of things I'd like to point out before we start. First being that this is my first time writing a story added in with English being my second language there will be quite a few spelling/grammar mistakes.
Second is Destiny's lore, there's honestly so much that it is hard to keep up and remember (in my opinion), so forgive me if I forget or miss interpret some information revolving around Destiny. This also means the number of the changes I'll be making for the sake of this fanfic will not stray too far off the path of the lore. (I will try my upmost best)
Third is the feats of some of the characters, it's insane how overpowerful a number of Destiny characters are, which is why I'll be toning some of them down. Rest assure many of your favorite characters will still be insanely powerful (still borderline of OP) just some minor tweaks to their strength.
Fourth is I will not be making any Author notes unless it is an important update to the story.
Last is not very important but I am going to change to cover photo. I'm trying to have one that better represents the story via commission but I have little experience in such work so it will be a little while before I have an official cover.
Disclaimer- This is a fanfiction crossover story. I do not own anything from Destiny/RWBY so please support the official companies and studios that do.

Throughout Time. Throughout the Cosmos. From Life to Death. An eternal game between two intangible forces has dictated the laws of the universe and the fate of countless individuals. From their first breath to their very last.
A game of Light and Dark.
Piece after piece we are moved across the board with nothing but simple whispers. Whispers which govern our every action. All for what? The sake of Salvation? Destruction? Or perhaps the Final Shape of something greater.
But what if one day a piece refused to listen to the whispers and rejected the path to the Final Shape. And instead, chose to carve a new path envisioned for themselves. One that would bring about the death and destruction of billions. But ultimately lead them to their ideal universe.
Their Perfect Final Shape.
So.
How does one stop such a fate? A fate which even the Light isn't enough to change it.
The answer is quite simple really. All you need is a piece in the game who will listen to the whispers of both. A Piece in the game who will walk the path of Darkness and Light.
Late in the night beneath a shattered moon, a Kingdom peacefully slept, with only a small handful of its citizens still walking the streets. Amongst them was a suspicious group making their way up the street. People who saw the group immediately did their best to avoid them out of fear.
They continued onward until arriving at a store. From Dust Till Dawn, the store was called. Led by a tall man smoking a cigar they enter the building.
Inside, the old owner quickly became uneasy by the number of men who entered his store. The man leading the group glances at the Dust dispensers on the wall, then removing the cigar from his mouth he approaches the counter. "Do you have any idea how hard it is to find a Dust shop open at this hour?" Before the shop owner could react, a gun was pointed at him.
"P-Please don't shoot! Just take my Lien and leave!"
"Shhh, hey don't worry, we're not here for your money." The man looks over his shoulder. "Grab the Dust." His henchmen opened two protective cases and pulled out several cylinder-like devices then immediately went on to drain the store of its Dust reserves. Another approached the counter with an empty protective case, "Dust Crystals. Burn. Uncut." The old man could only helplessly obey.
As the store was being robbed, one of the Henchmen heard faint music and some humming coming from the back of the store. Walking towards the sound he spots a girl in a red cloak standing in front of a magazine shelf. Unsheathing a red blade, he points at the person and approaches her. "Alright, put your hands where I can see'em." No reaction comes from her. "Hey, you got a death wish or something! I said put your hands up!" He says, grabbing the girl by the shoulder.
She turns around from the sudden physical contact. "Huh?" The girl had on a pair of red and gray headphones. Irritated, he gestures to them.
The girl removes the headphones. "Can I help you?"
"I said, put your hands in the air, now!" He repeats.
She confusingly tilts her head, then looks past him after hearing commotion come from the front of the store. She spots others like the man in front of her stealing Dust and Dust Crystals from the store. Realization hits the girl. "Are you…robbing me?"
"Yes!" The man answers.
"Oh…" She says with a smug smirk. With a hard kick she sends him flying across the store and through the wall. She looks away with a wince, "Ouch, maybe I should've held back a bit."
Her action caught the attention of the criminals at the front of the store. The boss of the group gestures to the others to apprehend her. From outside, one could see shelves flying and Dust bullets being fired at a red blur zipping around the store before crashing through the window. The girl rolls across the floor and then flips onto a parked car.
The henchmen jump outside to chase after but halt when she sits down. The man giving the orders stood by the shattered window looking between the mess inside the store and the girl. "Okay, was not expecting all of that." The girl in the red cloak smirks at him and rests her head on her fist. "What's your name kid?"
The girl had dark red hair and a pair of silver eyes. She wore a black short-sleeved shirt with a red long-sleeve one underneath and a red hooded cloak fastened to her shoulders by cross-shaped pins. Grey cargo shorts with a black utility belt, long black socks, and a pair of black combat boots. "Ruby Rose. And you Mr. Bowler hat guy?"
"Heh, Mr. Bowler hat guy." The man lights a cigar, "Name's Roman Torchwick. I take it you may have heard of me." The man now known as Roman had orange hair and a pair of green eyes. He wore a red-lined white suit with long black pants and shoes. His accessories consisted of a small gray scarf around his neck, black gloves with buckled sleeves and a black bowler hat with a red band around it.
Ruby grips her chin and looks up in thought. "Mm…nope." Emphasis on the letter 'p'.
Roman's brow twitches, a little annoyed by how casually she denied knowing his fame. "Whelp can't say that doesn't sting. Alright Red, how about I throw you a good chunk of Lien to look the other way? I'm sure someone of your age could use the money."
"Hm…How much?"
"100 Lien how's that sound."
"Make it 500 Lien and we got a deal!" She excitedly says.
Roman comedically trips over himself, "500 Lie—you kids are insanely greedy these days." His henchmen look to him. "I'm sure you all must've noticed negotiations just fell through. Get her." The men turned back to Ruby, weapons out.
Ruby hops off the car, "How about I make this easy for you guys. Since you know, none of you could hit me inside." Raising one arm. "I'll only use my right." The group of men look between one another before one ran up at her.
Ruby looks up with a grin as the man brings down a blade. Then in the last second, she dodges to the side and counters with a left punch to the rib followed by a right roundhouse kick, sending him straight into another car.
Everyone stares on with shock. "Y-You said you would only use your right arm!" One of them shouts.
Ruby bursts out laughing. "Pfft…Hahaha! You actually believed me?! Gods you guys are dumb!" Her insult wasn't taken lightly as the three remaining men charged at her. Ruby nonchalantly wipes a tear from her eye and evades the first and second men, and ducks under a swing of the third. She then kicks off towards the fourth man and lands a spinning back kick, sending him straight into the store wall.
The two criminals quickly turn around for another attack, only to see Ruby already in front of them. With a right hook, she nails the first man across the face then grabs him by the collar and throws the man at his partner. Roman's last remaining Henchman rolls out the way and empties a clip at the girl.
Ruby smirks as she effortlessly dodges the bullets and instantly closes the distance and connects an uppercut to the man's chin. His body flew up high before landing in the next block. "Whelp, that takes care of that." She says, dusting off her hands.
Roman glances at the unconscious men lying around the street and store. "You lot were worth every cent. Truly you were."
"If this is all your Lien could afford then I seriously think you should consider a career change. I hear bartending pays well. I mean you already kinda have the look for it."
Roman forces a smile annoyed by her remark. "Arrogant little—" His words were cut short when he noticed a contraption strapped or magnetized to her belt behind her. "So she's a Huntress. A Huntress in training no doubt. But she easily managed to take down all my men without even using her weapon. Definitely someone I had wished to have avoided during my endeavors." Soon after finishing his thoughts, police sirens were heard.
"Sorry Red, while I did enjoy watching your promising talent as a rising Huntress and would love to see more of it." Roman drops his cigar and crushes underneath the cane. Then lifting the cane, he points it at her. "I really don't plan on spending the night in a cell." Ruby raises a brow as a lid pops open at the end with a little scope. "Later." He waves before an explosive Dust round is fired at a surprised Ruby.
A small explosion erupts from the impact causing a great deal of smoke to cover the area. Then from within, a gust of wind blows it all away. Revealing an unharmed Ruby. "That cane shoots explosion rounds?! Huh, who would've thought." She quickly notices Roman has disappeared. Looking around she spots him climbing a ladder to a rooftop. Before she pursues him, Ruby turns to the store owner. "Um," She takes in all the damages within the Dust shop. "Sorry about the mess. I promise to help clean it up!"
On top the building, Roman runs to the other side of the roof but stops when he hears someone land behind him. Turning around he was shocked to see Ruby had already caught up. "How the— you sure are persistent."
Ruby smirks, "I'll take that as a compliment." She moves in to take him down but halts when a Bullhead flies up behind him. "Whoa, okay so maybe he doesn't really need a career change."
A ladder drops from the Bullhead. Ruby sees this and goes to stop him. From his pocket, Roman pulls out a Fire Dust crystal and tosses it at Ruby before firing an explosive round at it. The redhead immediately stops and flips away from the large explosion then rushes into the smoke.
Roman climbs into the Bullhead and waves, "Until next time Red!" He shouts, then makes his way to the front. Only to suddenly stumble after the Bullhead abruptly stopped in the air. Running back to the open door he spots Ruby down below grabbing onto the ladder! He quickly noticed the Bullhead losing altitude. "Is she seriously pulling us down!? What're they feeding kids these days!?"
Ruby looks up with a smirk. "We're not finished yet, Roman!" With her arms and legs, she begins to pull the Bullhead back. Roman aims once again and fires another explosive round. This time, Ruby was prepared. With one hand, she lets go of the ladder and backhands the explosive round away.
"Did she just backhand that?!" Roman thought with clear shock. He shook his head after noticing the Bullhead was already quite close to the rooftop. Any closer and she could very much jump aboard.
A voice from the cockpit caught his attention. Taking one last glance at the girl below Roman walks to the front of the Bullhead.
Ruby sees this and wonders if he's giving up. Suddenly, the floor beneath glows with an ominous orange shape. Ruby rolls out the way as an explosion erupts. Having no anchor to halt the Bullhead she was pulled across the floor. Ruby quickly jumps back to her feet, then with one hand she removes the contraption attached to her belt and transforms it into a large scythe. Immediately stabs into the floor behind her, stopping the Bullhead in its tracks.
Ruby looks up at the Bullhead and spots not Roman but a woman, clad in a crimson and yellow dress. Her face was obscured by the shadows within the Bullhead, only her Amber eyes glowed within the darkness.
The woman's hand ignited with flames; then she fires two fire bolts. Ruby leans forward and back dodging both attacks with ease. The projectiles hit the ground behind her, splattering bits of the fire bolts. With a simple gesture of the woman's hand, the splattered bits all become the same ominous orange shape from before.
Ruby kicks off to the side as the floor explodes. Rolling to feet she halts herself and the Bullhead again. Shifting her grip, she brings the scythe over her other arm all the way to her shoulder. The woman raises her hand. Silver eyes lock on with Amber ones.
She could see it. The annoyed look in her eyes, she was not liking how difficult it was to get rid of her. Ruby flashes a grin and tightens her grip as the woman releases another larger fire bolt. The redhead moves to intercept the attack, but before she could, another figure lands in front of Ruby, shocking her. A fiery explosion erupts, engulfing the entire roof in fire and smoke.
A brief moment passes, and the smoke finally clears up, revealing an older blond woman with thin glasses and green eyes. She wore a white long-sleeved pleated blouse with a wide keyhole neckline and gauntlet cuffs that flare in pleats at her wrist. A black-high waisted pencil-skirt with brown buttons, along with black stockings that fade to brown covered her lower half. She also wore black boots with brown heels, and a cape consisting of black on the outside and purple on the inside. The cape was stylized to have flames and arrow-like shape at the end.
At first glance, Ruby immediately recognized the woman as. "A Huntress."
The woman in the Bullhead scowls as the Huntress points a riding crop at her. Roman looks out the window and spots the newcomer. "Okay, time to go." With a turn of the cyclic the Bullhead pulls away, forcing Ruby to hold on tighter. The woman on board sees their situation becoming more complicated and decides to blast the ladder, releasing the Bullhead from the Scythe wielder's grasp.
"Damn it!"
Amber eyes shift from those of the older woman to those of the young girl. She'll remember her face.
Ruby and the Huntress could only watch as the Bullhead flew further until they were out of sight. "So," Ruby starts, grabbing the older woman's attention. "You're a Huntress, huh? You think I could get an autograph?" She asks with a hopeful and awkward smile. The next minute, Ruby found herself in an interrogation room at the police station.
"I would've taken a simple no ya know." She says with some irritation.
It had been several minutes since she was left here, and no one has come to talk to her yet. "Ugh! What the hell is taking them so long!? I know they have to check my credentials and everything but it's not like I've ever done anything bad!" She drops her head on the table. This was so boring.
But just when she thought she'd have to wait a little longer, the door of the room opens. Walking inside was the Huntress from before, a stern and disapproving look was written on her face. Uh oh, this doesn't look good. "Thank you for patiently waiting. I am Professor Glynda Goodwitch." Oh, maybe not. "First off, I want you to know that your actions tonight will not be taken lightly." Ruby mentally sighs, never mind. Glynda begins to circle around her. "Not only did you cause property damage to a store and two vehicles. You also put yourself and others in great danger."
"All I did was run around the store. What was I supposed to do? Let them shoot me? And I had everything under control even without your help in the end." Ruby argues. Glynda glares at the young girl but Ruby doesn't back down. With a sigh, the older woman relaxes herself. "Be that as it may, if it were up to me you'd be sent home with a pat on the back." Ruby's ears perk up. "And a slap on the wrist." The Huntress finishes, striking the table with her crop, barely missing Ruby's hands. The Scythe wielder doesn't react and keeps her eyes locked with the older woman.
Glynda pulls the rod back, "But there is someone here who wishes to speak to you." Taking a step back a new person walks in, a middle-aged man with silver hair and brown eyes. He wore shaded spectacles, and his attire consisted of an unzipped black suit over a dark green buttoned vest, and a green shirt. He also wore long dark green pants and black trousers shoes. In one hand he held a white mug bearing a familiar emblem and in the other a plate of...chocolate chip cookies.
"Ruby Rose," The man starts. Leaning across the table. "You…have silver eyes."
"Uh huh…" Ruby mutters, her eyes glued to the plate of cookies and her mouth hanging open. The man glances at the plate and sets it in front of her. She looks up at him for a moment then immediately starts vacuuming the cookies with no regard for manners.
The man lets a small smile form while Glynda gives a disappointed look and walks up next to him. "So, where did you learn how to fight like this? Your movements are quite impressive, even by Huntsmen standards." Glynda shows a video on her scroll of Ruby's fight with the criminals.
"Lobs ov panfull taiwing." The man raises a brow. Ruby takes a second to swallow food in her mouth. "Sorry. I said lots of painful training. With my sister."
"Your sister taught you how to fight like this?" The man asks.
"Yea, she and several others taught me how to fight at first. Then later it was just my sister who would spar with me." Ruby explains.
The middle-aged man cocks his head in curiosity. "Why is that?"
A small smug smile appears on her face. "She's the only one who can keep up."
"That so." He glances at Glynda who swipes the screen to another video. This one featured the moment when she used her Scythe, Crescent Rose. "Did she also happen to teach you how to utilize one of the most dangerous weapons ever designed?"
A quick shake of her head answered his question. "I learned how to use Crescent Rose at Signal Academy. One teacher in particular." She grabbed the cup of milk which Glynda placed on the table.
"I see… It's just that there's only one other scythe wielder of that skill who comes to mind. A dusty, old crow."
Ruby holds up a finger, gesturing to him to hold on for a second as she finished up the cup of milk. "Ah! Sorry. Yea that's my uncle Qrow. He's a—or was a teacher at Signal. I was absolute garbage when I first picked up my Scythe but after almost a year under his wing! Now I'm like—Hooowaah! Wichaaa! Swish Swish Slash! Bang Ba-." She quickly shut up and ceased the comedic swings of her arms after noticing the looks she was receiving.
The man takes a sip of his mug. "So I've noticed. And what is an adorable girl such as yourself doing at a school designed to train warriors?"
Ruby rests her arms on her lap and sits up straight. "Well… I want to be a Huntress."
"You want to slay monsters?"
"Yea. I mean I have the strength and skills for combat. Why not use them to help people who can't defend themselves? I only have a year left at Signal after that I'll be applying to Beacon and from there on it'll be smoooooth sailing to my Huntress License."
"You sound confident." Glynda comments.
"Why wouldn't I be." An arrogant smirk comes across the Scythe wielder's lips. This earned her an annoyed frown from the older woman.
The man remained unfazed, "…Do you know who I am?" He asks.
Ruby crosses her arms and leans back on the chair as a confused look appears on her face. "Um should I?" She says, looking towards Glynda for an answer.
The older Huntress heavily sighs, "This here is Professor Ozpin, Headmaster of Beacon Academy."
Silver eyes widen like saucers. Slowly and quietly, Ruby sits up from her chair and drops her gaze to the table. Her silence confused both adults. "…I want to apologize for my actions and the damages I caused and my rudeness towards you andhowtoldyouwaitwhileIfinishedmymilkandhowarrogantIvebeenactingand—!"
"Ms. Rose." Professor Ozpin speaks out, stopping her. He offers a small smile when she looks up to him.
"I-It's nice to meet you Professor Ozpin."
"Likewise, Ms. Rose." The headmaster nods. "You want to come to my school?"
Composing herself, Ruby's face becomes serious. "Your academy is one of the best there is in all of Remnant. I'd be greatly honored if you'd accept me as one of your students."
Glynda rolled her eyes when Ozpin looked towards her. With a smile the headmaster says. "Well alright."
The Scythe wielder blinks with uncertainty. "Um, alright?" She looks between the two. "What does that exactly mean…?"
Ozpin stands, cup in hand. "It means I expect you to be on the airship that will be transporting the first-year students to Beacon tomorrow morning." He smiles after seeing the shock in her eyes, but her bright smile expressed her happiness. "Of course, there is the matter of the events that transpired tonight which needs to be handled first. I'll be notifying your—."
Ruby abruptly stood up causing the chair to fall back, surprising both Professors. Ruby quietly walks around and bows. "Professor Ozpin, please keep what happened with the Dust robbery between us."
"…Ms. Rose, is there a reason why—." His words were cut off when Ruby dropped to the floor in pleading position.
"PLEASE KEEP WHAT HAPPENED WITH THE DUST ROBBERY BETWEEN US! I BEG YOU!" Ruby's outburst further shocked the professors.
Ozpin glances at a concerned Glynda who then shrugs. "…Very well Ms. Rose. We'll…alter some of the details for you."
Ruby lifts her head, "Thank you."
.
The next day in an Airship transporting students to Beacon Academy, the Scythe wielder found herself pulled into a hug by a pair of powerful arms and her head buried deep into a pair voluptuous breasts. "Oh, I can't believe my little sister is going to Beacon with me. This is like the best day ever!" A blond girl exclaims.
Ruby frantically waved her arms around. "Release me, you giant boob!" From one perspective some would believe the heavy hitting, scratching, and nose pulling to be quite violent, but to these sisters it was nothing than a little sibling roughhousing.
The blond girl laughs at the other's frantic desperation for freedom. She enjoys the playful moment a little longer before releasing her sister. "Gasp* Thought I was going to suffocate for a second! Keep those things away from me Yang! And stop calling me a little sister! There's only a three month difference between us."
The girl now known as Yang crosses her arms and rolls her Lilac colored eyes. "Yet by all rights, that still makes me the older sibling. And stop being so dramatic! I barely hugged you."
"Dramatic?! You can actually kill someone with those things!"
"Now you're being overdramatic, Ms. Little B Size." Yang says with a teasing grin.
Her words struck a nerve which earned a growl from the red head. "Those sacks of fat are nothing special Yang!" She accusingly points.
Using her arms underneath her chest Yang raises them to make them appear bigger. "And yet, boys will go crazy for them." She drops her arms and rests them on her head. "Anyways, it's about time you and I are in the same year."
Ruby scoffs. "Yea, stupid education system." Then with a mocking tone she repeats what was said before. 'I'm sorry, but we can't allow your daughter to attend the same grade as her sister because her birthdate is after the school's enrollment date'. My birthday is literally the next day!"
"True, but what could we do? It's Remnant's law."
Ruby leans on the giant window, "I know I know. Still, it's a stupid system." Yang joins her and ruffles her head.
"By the way, you never told me how you managed to get accepted to Beacon so early. You blackmail someone?" She asks with another teasing grin. Which earns her a mild glare from her sister. Ruby goes over the events which transpired last night, not leaving out a single detail. Especially the woman in the red dress. "Wow, and I thought I had a fun night out. So, this chick really shot fire bolts from her hands?"
"Yea, never seen something like that before. She could also ignite the bits of the fire bolts spread around to explode. It was pretty cool actually."
"Were you worried?"
The Scythe wielder looks away with a scoff. "Hell no! You really think something like a fire bolt could hurt me?"
Yang looks up in thought for a moment, "Mm… Nah, I guess not. But remember what—"
"Yea yea, don't get too cocky just because you're different. But you do it too!" She argues.
"Yea. But that's only because I benefit from my Semblance after being hit. You don't." After making her point Yang glances down at her sister's attire. "By the way, I like the new look."
She was currently wearing a compressed black shirt with a large red rose sigil across the right side along with black detachable arm sleeves that went from her wrist to above her elbow. Black pants held by a grey belt with several ammo pouches. Strapped to her left thigh was a small utility pouch. A pair of black steel-toe boots with red soles. And her cloak resting around her neck like a scarf. Her Scythe in its holster mode was magnetized to the back of the belt.
"Yea, I thought if I'll be going to a new school I should at least go with a fresh new look." Ruby states.
"Well, I like it!" Yang snickers, "Better than your old little red riding hood getup."
"Hey! Don't diss my old Huntress Outfit! They were nice and cool! Plus, they were warm and comfortable to wear." Yang rests her face on her fist and smiles. "What about you, huh!? You're not wearing your usual getup either."
Yang was currently wearing an open brown jacket with the sleeves rolled up to her elbow. Underneath, she wears a black sports bra with her yellow emblem on her right breast and a purple bandanna tied around her neck. Black fitted pants fade into yellow flames towards the bottom, held by a tactical belt with a couple of accessory pouches attached to it. Brown knee-high boots and black fingerless gloves. On her wrist were a pair of wrist bracers.
Yang gives a casual shrug. "What can I say. I like a change of pace here and there." She says, "Though, I was thinking maybe I'd wear something with a bigger window to show off my assets. Ya know, to distract my guy opponents." She jokingly says, which earns her a grimace look from her sister. Yang laughs at this.
A hologram of the afternoon news appears next to them, reporting about the robbery which occurred last night led by the nefarious Roman Torchwick.
Ruby crosses her arms. Looks like he wasn't just some common criminal with a decent bit of Lien on him.
The reporter continued on by advising citizens to report to the Vale Police Department if they come across any information regarding Roman Torchwick's whereabouts. The reporter then switched back to the News station as they began talking about the recent Faunus Rights peaceful protests taking a bad turn due to the actions of the White Fang becoming involved.
Ruby paid little mind to it since it wasn't of much of an importance to her. Not a second later the hologram of the news station switched to a familiar blond Huntress. "Who's that?" Yang asks.
"Glynda Goodwitch. She's the Huntress I told you about when I was taken to the police station." Ruby answers.
"Ah." The Professor began by greeting everyone and introducing herself to the students aboard the airship. She then goes explaining how they are among the few who have the honor to be selected to attend Beacon and with their help they'll be provided the knowledge and training to help protect the world. Then with the end of her introduction, the hologram disappears.
Ruby pushes off the window and looks outside. "Whoa! We're really up high. Wonder if you can see Signal from here." A moment passes and a well known building comes into view. "Oh! There it is. Guess home isn't too far after all."
Yang rests her arm around Ruby's shoulder with a smile. "Beacon is our home now." The Scythe wielder returns the smile. Their sibling moment was quickly ruined when a blond boy ran across the deck in the midst of throwing up.
Both sisters shrug. "It was nice while it lasted."
"Pfft haha, you got vomit on your boots."
"Are you serious!"
That is it for this chapter. I hope you enjoyed it and stay to read more of this fanfiction story.
