Mc's POV
It's been 3 days since I got my ass beat by Morrigan and when I was all healed up, I went back into training, I used animal soul on a black cat and snake to add to my collection. Yesterday I visited the library and got to the magic section of the place. The place held just common types of magic but luckily, I found a section covering requip magic. Now from requip magics concepts were rather simple but the problem was creating my own pocket dimension.
"Damn" I mumbled as I read the book explaining the process of re-quip in a park on a bench. "Man, how the hell am I supposed to create a separate space within my own thoughts?" I said frustrated.
"You need a lot of control and focus kid." A mature womanly voice said, making me jump and turn and it was Morrigan. "Hey junior." She chuckled at his reaction.
"Ack what are you still doing here I thought you traveled around looking for treasure or something." I said getting back to the book and the woman just sat beside me.
"Am on a break Junior. You have to relax once in a while and I saw you here so I was curious about what you were doing." She looked at the text explaining requip magic. "Not going so great I take it?"
"No, it's actually day two now and I am still falling to conjure up my internal space even though I really tried but I just didn't work." I sighed.
"Hm well it's not like requip magic is your primary source of magic it's hard for most wizards to learn an additional magic typing so most prefer to stink to one through their whole lives especially if the magic channel in their bodies isn't very flexible." She explained lighting a cigarette.
That really got me thinking that it might be possible that my magic channel isn't that flexible to learn other types of magic fast. Or am I just doing it wrong?
"So, I need some help in re-quip." I just looked at her when she offered that. "Oh, don't look at me like that there isn't much to do besides hang out with Annie and she's usually at work plus yeah I am bored a little plus I do know actually requip magic." She blows a smoke.
"Okay." I answered simply and now it was her turn to give me a look. "Come on, I'm not the same arrogant dumbass who thinks he can do everything and anything plus you're an experienced mage so if anyone is going to help me it would be you." My comment caused her to laugh.
"Oh my~. Here I thought you would be pissy about me kicking your ass yesterday." She continued to laugh and I just groaned at that. "At least I know that you're not some arrogant little asshole." She finished laughing and got up. "Come on~."
"Wait like now?"
"Yes, now come on, I know a good spot here in the park to practice." She told me and I just followed her. Due to it being a small town it wasn't that busy in the park. "So why do you want to learn requip magic anyway?" She questioned.
"I just don't want to lose most of my stuff." I shrugged and it's not like I was lying.
"That's not the answer I was expecting but I thing am going to like you a little." She grinned a little at me.
Five days later
It's been two days since Morrigan began teaching me some requip magic and he had to say it might have been tricky to get down but after hours and hours in practice he finally got it done and I still did some additional training with my new forms. He wasn't as fast in it but at least now he can store some stuff while travelling. He also looked at the anomalies he had to take care of in the death forest and the high c-class one was said to be a young Rathalos from the monster games and luckily said young.
The s-class one was where he actually sweated. The Quetzalcoatl and he didn't know if this was the actual god or just a creature with the same name but for now, he will leave it be until he gets stronger at least. Luckily the anomalies don't seem to attack the town but seemed to stay in their lane but he forgot Morpheus what will happen if he didn't take care of these anomalies or if his extra late with dealing with one will the space-time of this world collapse and what happens when another person deals with them will they just respawn or something like virus.
"So many questions." I said to myself as I walked in the yellow zone of the blood feather forest to get my first anomaly. Luckily the phone also acted like a sort of tracker so I could locate them easily and the Rathalos was not that deep in the yellow zone of the forest. I avoided any unnecessary encounters with creatures to save my energy.
After some more aimless wandering around I found the thing I was looking for. The young Rathalos though it was young it was still at least as big as an elephant if not a tad in size. Its appearance was that of a red dragon like creature, most of its back and tail covered by overlapping red armor plates, its tail was flat and shaped like a paddle with spikes and wings.
'Don't want to get hit by those spikes.' I thought as I looked at the thing. 'The best thing right now is to sneak attack it while I have the advantage.' The scales looked tough. Its front must have been weaker than the back so striking there would be better but it needed to be fast and hard as it didn't notice him yet.
'Beast Soul: Werecheetah!' After I transformed, I ran straight to the thing at high speeds and swung my extra sharp claws in its front before it had the chance to front close to its neck before it could react and drew blood.
I heard it roar but when I turned around it was bleeding but the wound wasn't deep enough to kill it, I underestimated its durability. The Rathalos turned its direction towards me and shot fire from its mouth towards me. But I easily dodged it. My air attacks wouldn't do much against it and I tested slashing it some more and it caused some minor damage. It tried blasting fire at me but I quickly dodged all of them.
It quickly got annoyed and quickly went off in an attempt to gain an aerial advantage and began blasting fire at me to which I avoided.
'I should really kill this thing before an accidental forest fire happens.' I thought as I transformed into my owl form and took to the skies and it chased after him. 'Looks like I am still faster.' I thought but I noticed that it was slowly gaining up on me.
It still shot fire at me and I just dodged but it's aim was getting better and better with each shot. I flung my feathers at it but they only slightly scratched it. I then decided to got for the eyes this time and it's a good thing this also increases my eyesight but a ton and so I had good aim. Once I shot the feathers, they stabbed its eyes making it stumble in the air as it roared in pain and began to shot fire everywhere.
I then flew towards it and high-flying speeds and transformed into my ant form and with the extra momentum and times ten in I rocketed towards its neck from the front. The fire did hit me but with my added depravity with the exoskeleton my ant form provided I could take it and so I smashed into its neck sending us down. I went owl mode again to safely got into the air as the Rathalos crashed down. After I flew down, I was still alive but barely.
"Alright not bad I could use something like this in my arsenal." I said to myself and as I older and more powerful, so will my transformations and this Rathalos will give me my biggest boast so far. "TAKEOVER!" I yelled as I took over the wyvern. "Yeah, I felt myself get stronger after that." I spoke.
'Though why was it high C-class though was it that I was stronger than I thought? No, it may have some little gimmick that it couldn't properly use in its fight with me.' Thoughts ran into my head on the class system.
"Nice fight boy!!" I heard a familiar womanly voice and it was Morrigan.
"Don't you have anything better to do?" I asked her.
"Nope, I am leaving but I will be leaving in two days. But enough about that lets talk about that wyvern like creature I saw you fighting." She said scanning me a bit or something. "It wasn't like any other I've seen before."
"Yeah, you could say it was really out of this world." I joked slightly even though I knew she wouldn't get the context of it. She looked at me intensely but then just shrugged.
"Meh whatever strange things happen in Earthland on a daily basis." She said nonchalantly. "How is that now?"
"Huh?"
"How many animals and beasts have you taken over?"
"Well 5 animals and 2 beasts so in total just 7." I answered her weird question and she just nodded but than gave me a serious look which I never saw these past days that I've known her.
"Am going to warn you know junior be careful with the number of creatures you absorbed if you absorb a shit to of animals and magical beasts, they will there is a high chance your body and soul will get overwhelmed if you're not strong enough and believe me when I say it's not a pleasant experience" she said solemnly as she then looked in the sky a little.
"Thanks, I'll keep that in mind." I thanked as I felt my phone rattle in my pocket dimension so I re-quip it and I saw Morrigan's eye slightly widen than kick myself in forgetting that this type of technology wasn't popular or invented yet around these times.
I still checked my message though and it was Morpheus messaging me a good job and saying he understands that I skipped the Quetzalcoatl but he said more anomalies have appeared so I need to exorcise them. Six more appeared here in Pergande, 2 appeared in a place called iceberg and 4 appeared in the Fiore country.
"Damn looks like I have my work cut out for me." I sighed and noticed Morrigan was in front of me looking at my phone "Um can I help you with something?"
"Wow you got the experimental communication lacrima how?" She asked me with her signature smirk but with starry eyes.
"A friend of mine who hired me for a big job gave me this lacrima to help give information." He said the half-truth as I put the phone back to his pocket dimension.
"Damn he must be crazy rich!" She said and made a proposal. "Hey Junior. I noticed that you're basically going where I am heading after two days so let's just travel together and spare ourselves the trouble of running into each other." That got me by surprise.
"Wait, why do you care where I'm drifting to?" I questioned her as she was showing red flag signs.
"Am more interested in this communication lacrima and these new monsters you're facing, most of them are in parts where a lot of gems have been found. So come on kid if you hang with me, I'll properly teach you the ropes on magic, fighting and this country." That sounds too good to be true. "Plus, I will make sure you live this time." She moved a good distance away from me and said that part really quietly.
"Well, I do need help on some aspects of magic so you got a deal." I offered my hand which she took with a small genuine smile on her face.
A little while later
It's been three days and Morrigan and I where recently left the little town and where now on the road. I did spend a little time getting to know the Shiruku family and it turns out they were from the eastern continent in a country called Taiyo country. I wasn't familiar with the place so when they gave an explanation of what it was like and they showed me some pictures and it was a lot similar to Japan now I knew what was on the origins of their houses design and dressing, there were both very kind and even made me some extra batch of clothes as the owned a tailor. But geez man there was so much about Earthland that I didn't know about.
I also visited Doctor Maple to buy some medical supplies from and since he was a doctor, I took the ones he recommended. I fooled around with my Rathalos form and it basically turned me into a human wyvern hybrid and replaced my arms with its weak talons, scales, full take over was possible but it was a little difficult to maintain. Now I was on the road with Morrigan and we were heading to the direction of my next anomaly in a place called the Twilight Slopes. It was far away from Enia but Morrigan had a magic vehicle with her and good thing as we were on a dirt road. but hers was different like the weirdly designed ones from the show as hers looked really cool, plus she told me that a lacrima powers is but she has to pre charge it with magic.
"Just how much did this thing cost?" I asked Morrigan as a vehicle like this must have cost a ton.
"Really fucking expensive junior. The costs go into the custom design, the color and the mechanical workings to support the lacrima. In fact, the only reason why I have this is because I know a guy." She said flinching probably from the amount of money she spent on this thing.
"So, a shit load of cash from your pockets then. But why not get a normal one?" It has saved her a lot of money.
"I needed something more of my style, kid." She answered simply. "By the way, what's with the history book junior?"
"Oh, since I am going to be here in Pergranda for a while I might as well know its basic history." I bought a book from the library about the country's history to at least get a basic rundown of it. "By the way I know where to go to the twilight slopes but how far is it really?"
"Oh, for now I am holding off on twilight slopes and stopping at a clearing for a little while."
"Why is the lacrima out of magic or something?"
"Yep, I've been using it for a while now and my girl really needs to recharge soon." After she said that and after some time, she stopped by a rocky forest area. "All right Junior we'll be camping in this forest for about a day. It takes a little long to fill up my girl here with magic but we're going to pass the Boiling beds dessert to get to twilight slopes so I don't want it ruining out of magic while we're in there."
"Why is that desert full of bandit activity or some sand village which is hostile towards outsiders?"
"Well good guess but still no as the dessert which actually has people living in it is the Ivory wasteland. This dessert in particular is full of giant sand worms, giant scorpions, some sand golems and dessert lizards etc.
"Isn't there a safe route for something?"
"There is but after some recent events people have just been going around it now which wastes a lot of time and I really don't like recharging my ride frequently."
After she found a suitable place to stop the magic vehicle and basically camped out, I went outside to practice my magic to get ready for my next anomaly while she charged her ride. I was just practicing my Rathalos form and busting some boulders through my strength and fire breathing.
"Hey kid, what benefits does that form give you besides the usual physical boosts?" Morrigan asked while she sat on her ride watching me train.
"Oh, from what I can tell I got some mini fire magic and high fire resistance for now I am still exploring what I can do." I flew down to her transforming back to normal.
"Hm well how about a little spar to test it out then." When she said that I couldn't help but raise a brow now its not like I was denying the spar but she didn't need to fill up the magic vehicle. "Oh, don't worry it's just a quick spar for nothing serious." Ithan says she basically put the whole car in her requip pocket dimension. "Oh, don't be so surprised Junior, remember the more magic you have the bigger your pocket dimension is."
"Hmm if you say so." And with that we got into positions and I transformed into my Rathalos form and got into fighting position. We then dashed and struck her with my talons which she dodged and she was about to give a hard punch but I took skies. Since I had wings instead hands and no proper kicking technique a little long range will be the best option.
I than breathed fire balls at her which she was easily dodging like a pro and she jumped toward me at high speeds and I barely reacted and quickly roared a big blast of fire from my mouth towards her. My instincts kicked in and I felt a strong blow on my left cheek throwing me higher in the air but on reflex my tail to smack the source. I got my bearings and I saw Morrigan with her wings out rubbing a side of her face.
"Anatomy transmutation: Claw Harden!" Her arms than began to morph and turn black and her nails seemed to have grown and looked sharper. "Don't just stay there staring at me!" I didn't hesitate and blew a stream of fire at her but she just held out her hand and easily blocked the attack.
'Okay so she basically has greed from fma's powers' She then zipped in front of me and gave me a hard slash to the stomach with got past the scales protecting it drawing some blood. I throw an upwards kick with my talon but she blocked with her hardened arm but she than moved away much to my confusion.
"Hm interesting." She mumbled looking at the arm I clawed. Without further reason, she began zooming around clashing with each other at high speeds which she was mostly winning but I was getting some hits in. I flung some fire balls at her frequently here and there but she easily dodged them. I was holding out to her hits mostly thanks to my scaly body.
She then turned her arm into a tentacle and stretched and captured me but I dodged it and after a few more speed clashes she got me and pulled me in but not before blowing a fireball at her she smacked away. When she pulled me, her face was completely neutral like she was a little disappointed.
"Really kid, don't you have anything else besides breathing and spitting fire?" She asked but I think she didn't notice that the fireballs I was spitting weren't all gone but floating up behind her and so I head butted her making her let go of me letting me get some distance. "OW! Okay should have se… The fuck!?" She questioned as she saw multiple fireballs surrounding her.
"Hellzone." I than made them all attack Morrigan causing a blazing explosion in the mix. After the smoke cleared Morrigan looked like Kirishima when using his powers but looked like she took damage be it minimal. "Fuck me man." I sighed. She then speed blitzed me and landed critical hits before I could do something. Her arm grows huge and smacked hard to the ground leaving a crater.
Sure, the excuse durability reduced the damage of the attack. It still hurt like hell and most of my armored scales seemed to be cracked. I transformed back to a human breathing heavily from the spar and looked up and saw Morrigan descend down.
"Not bad Junior surprised me a little there." She then turned off her magic and offered me a hand up which I took and began recovery. "Ready for some?" She asked and I nodded. "Okay first one you have to increase the time it takes you to transform. If it was a real battle to the death, I would have killed you while you were transforming so work on that as in most fights life or death if battle the faster opponent controls the flow of a fight easier.
Two: Stop getting your head in your own ass sometimes especially in a fight as enemies can easily take advantage of your lack of focus. Finally, while you have decent magic control, it's still not very defined and you use absurd amounts of its power leading to you burning through soldiers fast." She finished and the man looks like still has a long way to go.
"Damn what do I do to refine it?" I asked
"Well, you got the gathering of the Ethernano part down but I will help out in true magic control and I'll start by your object for today will be taking over one part of your body. Sounds up to the task?" She asked, smirking at me, which I returned a little.
"Sure let's do it."

Also there is this thing I'm doing for the anomalies where I sometimes pick out which creatures from different words to use, be it monster, spirit, demon etc, via fan suggestions as it also helps with the creative process.
As for romance, it might take a little while to get there but I'm weaving it in as it is also a harem through a small one.
