For all intents and purposes, Mirko was used to receiving messages. Her agency, as small as it was, was often littered with the messages of people showering her with adoration about how cool and strong she was. Many of these actively got ignored while a handful ended up on a wall in her training room, reminding her every now and again that she was performing her duties as an inspiration to the next generation. Sometimes it was hard to remember that she was a role model when she was decimating criminal organizations.

In that regard, Mirko was happy with the life that she lived. Other agencies had a plethora of interns who soaked in a majority of the media requirements while she chose to ignore it for the most part. She had tried the whole intern thing and frankly found it a waste of time. It also helped that by only running a bare minimum of staff in her agency she kept her financial payments significantly lower than the operations of her peers. She could only imagine the paperwork that would be required for Endeavour's agency with his seemingly never ending supply of bargain bin fire heroes.

So instead of paying fifty odd people, her staff consisted of three people, herself included. Firstly there was Denni, a rather scraggly looking guy whose quirk she couldn't even remember but it didn't matter given how much of a clean freak he was. He had no ambition that she knew about and if he was happy keeping her training area spotless every morning, she was more than willing to keep him on her skeleton crew.

The other employee was a little more bitchy, and she meant that in the nicest way possible. Kairi had a sheep quirk which was effectively good for being a good pillow in times of stress and annoyance. That wasn't why Mirko kept her on the payroll however. Turned out that being the butt of many a joke growing up, Kairi had actively developed a unique power when answering the telephone. That unique power was actively telling people to piss off it whatever they were after was not worth Mirko's time.

Such an attitude was just what Mirko needed. Formal meetings, interview requests, sponsorship deals, having Kairi actively telling all these people to piss off and leave her alone was so refreshing.

Which was why it was surprising that while she was in the middle of her morning exercise, Kairi interrupted her. "You've got a call," they said, seemingly annoyed by actively having to do her job.

"Who is it?" asked Mirko, expecting it to be somebody incredibly important if Kairi had taken the effort to leave her desk.

"They say that they're the guy who kicked your ass."

Unsurprisingly, that sparked Mirko's attention and she gestured for her secretary to give her the phone. Kairi, seemingly annoyed by the fact that Mirko wasn't coming to her, actively dragged her feet as she crossed the small distance and handed her boss the phone.

Mirko didn't say any words of thanks as she looked at the item in her hand, realising that Kairi hadn't even put the line on hold. Placing it by her ear, she spoke quickly. "What's going on Shirou?"

"I must say, your secretary sounds like an absolute delight." Mirko found herself pausing as it most definitely didn't sound like Shirou on the other line. "Please, after the decades I've spent with him it's not all that hard to mimic Shirou's voice to a point which is believable. It's not exact by any means but over a telephone line it is rather convincing."

Mirko found herself trying her best to break down what had been said but instead focused on the main part. "You're Rin Tohsaka," she said in a much more serious tone.

"Oh, should I be glad that one of this country's top heroes knows me?" mocked Rin on the other side of the line.

Mirko chose to ignore it. "Why are you calling me?" she asked.

"I'm contacting you because I believe that you should be aware of what is happening in this country and how you choose to utilize this information is up to you," said Rin. "I know that what I'm about to believe you may sound a bit ludicrous but in your industry I'm sure that you've witnessed a lot weirder."

"What's going on?" said Mirko, trying to contain herself. She wasn't sure why but the way that Rin spoke just seemed to grate on her nerves.

"Do you know much about the Meta Liberation Front?" Mirko blinked a couple times as she tried to rack her brain. She might have heard about it in a class one time but whether she paid enough attention to it was a different story altogether. "I'll skip to the important parts," said Rin after the brief pause. "Basically in Deika City there are a hundred thousand people who believe in the word of Destro and how every civilian should be allowed to utilize their powers if the need calls for it. This need in case, is to defend themselves in case of being attacked. I've received word that they plan to antagonize the League of Villains, getting them to attack their city where if the civilians are able to take down an enemy that even professional heroes cannot, then their goal is justified."

"That's crazy," said Mirko.

"I told you that it sounded ludicrous."

"But what of the professional heroes located in the city?"

"Corrupt."

"Thousands of people could die."

"And they'd be happy to do so if it helps their cause."

"So, why are you giving me this information?"

"I'm only sharing this with you because Shirou, being the idiot that he is, has taken it upon himself to stop this before it starts."

"What? How?"

"Because, despite the fact that with all these jailbreaks and hundreds of convicted criminals roaming the streets, there seems to only be one person outside the League that heroes are actively trying to track down."

"Oh," said Mirko, the pieces practically falling into place. "Shit."

"Nicely summarized," said Rin. "Now, Shirou thinks that he can save all these people a painful death by basically surrendering to the Meta Liberation Front where they can spin a tale about how the common people were able to capture a wanted criminal. Incredibly frustrating but this is how he believes he will be able to save as many people as possible. How this effects the world afterwards, that'll be for you and your Hero pals to debate over. Frankly, I don't care but if you believe that it's going to be detrimental to society as a whole, well you better do something about it then."

Before Mirko could respond, the line went dead. As much as she wanted to say more it may have been a blessing in disguise. This was so much to take in and something which could have massive ramifications across the entire country, perhaps even globally if it really got out of hand. The power of social media was a terrifying prospect at the best of times, all it would take is for one video to go viral and then suddenly all these factions around the world could pop up in a matter of days.

Now the question was, what the hell was she meant to do?

The pieces were rather straight forward. Shirou was going to confront these Meta Liberation people. His belief that in doing so he was protecting these people from dying was noble but utterly foolish at the same time. Keeping people alive, even if they were fanatics, was something worthwhile but the utter chaos that his actions could cause would likely have effects far greater than he had considered.

There were two things that she had to be considerate of however. Firstly, what was the likelihood of this faction actively agreeing to everything? Would they take the gift offered to them or would it go against their beliefs? If that happened, would Shirou be safe or could everything go sour quickly?

On the other side of it all, what if what she had just been completely lied to? While this entire thing felt far too elaborate to come up with, there was absolutely nothing backing up Rin's statements. She couldn't contact the heroes in Deika City; if they were corrupt and said nothing was wrong it would be the same if there was actively nothing wrong and they were innocent. She couldn't ignore the possibility that this was actively happening but she couldn't just summon every hero she could contact in case it was all a hoax.

Mirko grabbed at her ears in utter frustration. Why did such an important possibility have to be her responsibility! She had just planned to roam the streets and beat up some crooks. Now she had to deal with...this! Growling something incomprehensible, Mirko started dialing the first person that came to mind. More than likely, it would be the first in a long line of people she needed to call.

She was going to owe a lot of favors after this.

...

Rin put the phone down on the dining room table, knowing full well that she had probably caused a world of trouble for Mirko. Still, she was young, surely she could figure out what to do on her lonesome. What that was, well quite frankly it didn't matter to her.

"So, did that go according to your plan Shirou?" asked Rin as she looked at the person sitting on the other side of the table.

"You know that I don't have to tell you that you acted perfectly," responded Shirou.

"Still, I'd like you to say it if only for my own enjoyment," said Rin, shooting Shirou a knowing glance.

Shirou did his best to not roll his eyes as he responded. "Fine, you did perfectly Rin."

"Thank you," said Rin with a playful smile. "So I take it then that you'll be on your way shortly."

"I'll be off shortly," mused Shirou. "There's no rush, it'll take Mirko a while to figure out who she's going to contact and organize a crew."

"You're so confident that she will go to Deika City," commented Rin as she wondered over to the kitchen counter to pour herself a glass of water.

"I know she will," admitted Shirou as he stood up from the table. "Even if she goes there and finds nothing, it would be better than not doing anything."

"And you're going to be waiting there for her, the damsel in distress, ready to be rescued."

"Maybe, or maybe I'll have already dismantled the entire organization from the inside."

"And what will happen if you can't manage to cut the head of the snake?"

"I don't have to cut it off," said Shirou confidently. "I just have to leave it confused, dazed and maybe even a little broken. If that means I have to dismantle their chain of command while they figure out what to do with me."

"You know if things go south..."

"They won't," cut off Shirou.

Rin sighed as she took did her best not to crack the glass in her hand. This was Shirou's plan and while she had made some adjustments to it, it was his plan at the end of the day, Had he had his way, he likely would have already been in Deika City with heroic backup some hours upon hours away. If he had to hold out for a handful of minutes against an entire city, she rather that than however long it could have been.

"Just...be careful," she said softly.

"Don't worry," said Shirou as he closed the distance between them before giving her a light hug. "Everything will be fine."

"It better," pouted Rin as she returned the hug, holding onto him for a couple more seconds than necessary.

Shirou didn't seem to mind.

Midoriya gulped at the water he had been given, the criminals he had helped apprehend currently being restrained by the police. With so many escaped prisoners still roaming the streets, U.A had seen fit to offer students to agencies which needed extra hands on deck.

This was the fourth time that Midoriya had been summoned to the front lines, apparently he was making a bit of a name for himself. His strength was a welcome addition to most rosters while having Black Whip available to restrain individuals was always a bonus.

Midoriya had been keeping track and the only person who had been brought out into active duty more than he had was Ida, although he had done all of his stints on the street alongside his brother. On the family side of things, Todoroki had been requested a number of times by his father's agency although by the sounds of it he had refused every time.

Midoriya, along with the rest of his peers, chose not to get into that one.

"How are you faring?" asked the sidekick who had been assigned to stay by his side during the course of the day.

"I'm doing well Ronin," said Midoriya. "I'll be ready in a minute."

"No need to rush," chuckled Ronin as he adjusted his hat. "You just helped take down half a dozen hardened criminals, take a bit of time to bask in the moment. You've got a bright future ahead of you and in a couple of years, I'm certain our the boss would love to have you on the team."

"That's kind of you to..." started Midoriya before a shockwave crashed into the two of them as a figure landed violently in front of them. Midoriya tried to quickly establish himself but found himself being lifted up by the collar of his costume.

"You're from U.A, first year, correct?"

"Umm...yes?" answered Midoriya, still in a little shock of who it was who was hoisting him up.

"Good, you're coming with me," commanded Mirko as she bounded off, her powerful legs sending the two of them soaring away. Ronin meanwhile just left in a state of confusion knowing that he had to tell his boss that their intern for the day had been kidnapped by a top ten hero. Then they would have to tell U.A that their intern for the day had been kidnapped by a top ten hero.

This was not going to go down well.

Gentle erected a protective barrier, preventing the attack that had been aiming for his throat from hitting it's mark. The repelling force sent the assailant sprawling backwards but they were on the hunt at a frightening speed, weaving left and right in an attempt to force Gentle to make an error. Gentle was prepared however, planting one of his elastic discs while skipping backwards so that the attacker landed on it, sending them safely over his head. Although he did have to shuffle swiftly to the side to avoid the serrated knife that was hurled downwards.

The combatants spread as they eyed one another carefully, waiting for the first twitch of movement to send them on their way. In a somewhat odd state of affairs, it was Gentle who made the first move as he charged at Stain, constructing and bouncing off numerous elastic platforms that he erected in swift succession. While his angle of attack continued to change with each passing moment, Stain watched on carefully as he held his katana to his side.

Left? Right? Straight? Behind?

No, that would be too simple.

Stain watched as Gentle's weaving culminated in him being mere feet away before he ricocheted upwards and above Stain. This was immediately followed as Gentle propelled himself downwards, where Stain's katana was pointed upwards. Seeing the immediate threat, Gentle had to act swiftly and forced himself to evade. The sharpness in the movement however cause his well constructed plan to collapse around him as he bounced painfully off the ground.

"That's enough," declared Stain as Gentle pushed himself back into a standing position. Having heard that Stain had called an end to the skirmish, Gentle brushed himself off. "You are showing signs of improvement, there are less wasted movements."

"Rare to hear you give a compliment," stated Gentle. "Were my moves so predictable?"

"On the contrary, I've been by your side in battle and watched you survive against a man whose quirk could end either of our lives with a single touch," recollected Stain. "Had I not watched you in action there I would not have known your patterns of assault. Even if you had been acting as more of a support at that time, your movements do not change so easily."

"I will keep that in mind," said Gentle as he finished smoothing out his hair. If even a single strand were to be out of place then it would be most uncouth. "Tell me, this Front, were their ambitions to seek fruition, how would you find the new world?"

Stain sheathed his blade slowly, the corresponding sound echoing through the basement which had served as their arena. "It would be a waste of a world," he finally said after a few seconds of thought. "Anarchy would reign if you utilized your quirk in a way to help, no matter how mild. You could be more of a hindrance as a dozen people rush to the forefront, all thinking that they have what it takes to save the day. If everybody wants to be the hero of the day they get in each other's way and at the end of it all, the one they are trying to save dies. Would they be punished for their actions? Unlikely, as all they were trying to do is help."

"You have given this some thought then," stated Gentle.

"Ever since the witch and I confronted the Front, I have pondered the existence of such a world and I have found it sickening."

Gentle paused a second before he spoke. "Many years ago, I watched as a man fell from a building at a speed which would have been life threatening," he said slowly. "I acted, knowing that my quirk could save his life. I did not know if there was a hero nearby or not, I just saw a man in need and acted accordingly. From the result of my actions, while his life was saved but he sustained multiple injuries and my world came crashing down around me. Expulsion, isolation, I had nothing with nobody wishing to even consider hiring me for a position. All because I acted in an attempt to save another life. In this world the Front is proposing, perhaps I would have been hailed as a hero for my efforts."

Stain looked at his fellow villain who seemed to be caught in his reminiscent moment. "You sacrificed your future, not for fame or fortune, but because someone needed saving," he concluded before he started to walk towards the exit. "Perhaps if circumstances were different, you would have been one of the true heroes of this world."

Gentle watched the back of Stain, pondering what the man had meant by that.

Shirou sat on the train casually, having been given a wide berth by practically everybody else on the train. Thankfully with it being an express to his destination, he didn't have to worry about someone trying to apprehend him at every station.

As much fun as that had been last time.

Still though, his destination was clear and he would not be getting a lukewarm reception. By now social media would have essentially informed a number of individuals that he was on his way to Deika City and phone calls would be happening all over the place. The police would be doing their best to organize the heroes of Deika City to be ready to apprehend him. The citizens of Deika City would be seeing this as an opportunity that would not come again and the Front would act accordingly.

If he were them, he wold be waiting to ambush him right outside of the train where other passengers would be able to film the entire thing happening. In doing so, it would be a matter of hours or even less before major news companies were receiving footage from showing a bunch of regular people doing what the heroes couldn't.

Looking out the window, Shirou could see the main building that served as the centre of Deika City. Rin had been very adamant in describing which one he would find Re-Destro in. The main thing was being able to get there, without being caught by any of the civilians who would be hell bent on capturing him. There was only a hundred thousand odd people to worry about. He wished he could say that it would be easy but he had no intention of causing any of them harm.

He wasn't here to hurt them.

He was here to save them.

So, as the train slowed down as it neared it's destination, Shirou stood up from his chair. Mana surged through his body as he reinforced his limbs, heightening his physical strength to the highest point he could.

The train came to a stop.

The doors opened.

The world exploded into action.
