3rd person pov

Jack Reagan was studying late into the night in his college dorm at Hadleigh College, as he often did as a Medical student. What normally didn't happen was a knock on his window at... 1AM. His shock only grew once he saw the source of the noise. His jaw dropped

"Joe?!"

His newfound oldest cousin tumbled into his dorm room with the student's assistance, and the oldest son of Danny Reagan gave him a once-over. This was not good.

"Gashes, nearly broken ribs, black eye, split lip... What exactly happened here?"

Joe sighed, accepting the ice for his face and ribs

"Op went bad. I was with a real bad group about 10 minutes out, but one of their girls accidentally blew my cover. Turns out she was my ex. I couldn't wait for a bus, they were too far out. Besides, there's a similar group I can infiltrate, but not if my prints are in any database, even a hospital. You were closer."

Mouth agape, Jack asked

"How did you manage to get here without bleeding out or passing out?"

The Detective shook his head

"Dunno. Just as surprised as you. Can you patch me up?"

Coming out of his stupor and focus lacing his face, Jack nodded, and , with a demeanor much like his mothers' , he spoke

"Sit on the bed. Wrapping your ribs and stitching these gashes and your lip is gonna HURT."

Sarcasm oozing from his lips, the Detective spoke

"Joy."

A few very painful moments later, Joe had fallen asleep after getting patched up. Sighing, Jack let the rest of the family know what happened and went to bed himself. Considering how his evening turned out, he figured he had studied facial sutures and how to properly wrap bruised ribs well enough for his demonstrative quiz tomorrow.
