The class was pretty simple to be honest though that might be due to the fact that I have been around someone like Hank for so long along with my own knowhow. At this moment though he'd probably tell me something like…

'Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world..' Nelson Mandela I think…..ah man i'm even quoting people like him. I did not get out of the mansion fast enough. I felt the small rumble in my chest though at the fact I could think like my friend and mentor.

Where was I?

Oh yeah.

I was going through my classes gaining some looks, this is what I get for not wearing masks before now. I'm sure the rumors are already spreading through the school. Kitty Pryde aka Shadowcat, Mutant seen in ESU, blah blah blah…God I hate people sometimes. My thoughts drifted to Peter and they became concerned in how he'd react once he realized who in fact I was but…he hadn't said anything yet so maybe I'm good...I hope.

Most of my other classes were pretty much the same. More eyes, more whispers, more…more….more…god maybe Bobby was right…I sighed in relief though when lunch finally came around and i went out into the main hall looking around for Peter. I gasped when I felt a hand on my shoulder and i grabbed it instinctively flipping the person.

"Okay…ow…ow that's my hand." I looked and finally recognized who in fact it was. Peter.

"Peter?! God don't sneak up on me like that." I spoke exasperated.

"Got it…don't sneak up on Kitty…..got it….um my hand is actually starting to hurt right now." He grunted and finally I released his grip helping him up.

"Sorry."

"Hey no problem. It was on me anyway." He patted himself clear and chuckled looking at me.

"So um….Lunch?"

"Lunch." He grinned and we made our way to a couple of food trucks grabbing some tacos and sitting down. "Ah good i was hoping they'd come around here."

"A regular I'm guessing?"

"Yeah I swing by every chance I get. Here and Stan's."

"Stan's?" I asked.

"An italian restaurant. It's a friend's of my aunt."

"Sounds delicious."

"Yeah we should go sometime." My eyes widened slightly. "Something I said?"

"It's nothing just….I'm surprised you would still want to hang out."

"Why?" He looked so adorable with how his eyebrows bunched in confusion and as I was about to respond a voice could be heard.

"Wow Puny Parker I thought you couldn't get any lower." A blond haired boy approached with a similarly blond chick…..ugh I hate jocks and cheerleaders…

"What do you want Eugene?" I giggled a little at his comeback. Eugene? God that fits way too much.

"Oh we just came over to see what you were doing with someone like her." The other blond responded to my annoyance…and slight worry.

"What's that suppose to mean?" Peter's voice rose as he stood coming eye to eye with Eugene.

"What it means Parker is that your hanging out with one of them Muties." Eugene finally spilled the beans pointing at me. And I felt the collective acknowledgement from evberyone around and i shrunk a bit at it…a constant reminder of just because I was different meant I would be ostracized…again….Bobby may have been right….

"How do you know that?" Peter argued.

"Dude there's photos and videos from the Sentinel attack. She was in it along with some weird hairy dude and some Ice dude….She um…oh what does she do again…"

"She goes through objects Flash." The girl sneered in glee. God…why did my day have to turn into this? For a brief moment I hoped for a brief moment I hoped I could have a normal li-

"Why does that matter?"

I'msorrysaywhat? I froze and turned my head so fast I was sure it spun around my neck as I looked at Peter.

"What did you say, you twirp?" The girl glared.

"Maybe if you paid attention for once Sally you'd hear me." Wow…both their parents were scraping the barrel for jock and cheerleader names weren't they? "I said Why does that matter?"

"She's a freak."

"And you're an idiot." Peter retorted. "If she was there against the Sentinel then she was there protecting people from its stampede. Or are you so stupid you'll believe what the Bugle says about everyone but Spider-man?"

To say the two high cliche members were stunned was an understatement…and it felt so good to see them get stomped in their place ... .and I won't lie it felt nice having someone else not a mutant standing up for me.

"But…..They….She…." Eugine was about to speak when a hand touched his shoulder. Looking up I saw a man standing behind him, an African American, looking about our age.

"That's enough Flash." Duh duh duh duh Flash! Aaaaaaah….I am so sorry…. I wince at the song used in my head. Anyway…. "Come on." The man pulled him by the jersey and grabbed Sally's arm too, pulling them away probably to speak to them. Okay make that TWO people who have stood up for me that are not human…. I looked at Peter and smiled lightly.

"Thanks."

"Don't worry about it." His smile met mine and a small blush appeared on both of our faces. "I can only imagine how bad it is for you."

"Its….it's rough…but that was why..I knew the rumors were starting to spread."

"Hey don't worry about it, I've had to deal with my own rumors before." He shrugged.

"What do you mean?"

"A few years back people thought I was Spider-man." We both laughed at that.

"I remember reading about that in the Bugle!"

"You read the articles on Spider-man?"

"Yeah…though most of them are way too exaggerated." I spoke exasperated. "Your photos are cool though ... .I kinda collect them."

"Spider-fan?"

"Spider-fan…" I admitted shyly. "Oh that reminds me you were gonna show me the new ones." I hope I didn't sound too excited.

"Oh yeah here." He pulled out a laptop and pulled up his photos as I scooted over and looked at them grinning. They were three goons with one of them turning into water. "What do you think?"

"It's incredible!" I grinned as I flipped through them. "This guy's new right?"

"Yeah, some kind of water based powers."

"Maybe a Mutant as well?" He shook his head to my question.

"I don't think so." He said. "I met the guy before. He worked with explosives for Oscorp before disappearing after an incident when his bombs got hacked." Peter admitted. "Norman Osborn had invited me to see the demolition."

I made a huh noise as I looked. "So a workplace accident?"

"It's what I'm guessing…" Peter shrugged.

"And you get to follow Spider-man and see these fights in person…You're either brave or stupid." I giggled.

"Aunt May would say a little of both." He grinned like he was proud of that fact.

"God you're such a dork." I giggled.

"Hey I'll take that. So what is your day looking like now?" He asked.

"I'm actually done for the day. My other classes are tomorrow with labs on friday."

"Cool." Peter grinned. "Maybe we can go after labs on friday then."

"Sounds like fun." My voice grew in excitefulness.

"Awesome."

"Awesome?"

"Exactly. It's awesome. What did you want to use a different adjective?"

"Well I can think of a few better ones." I teased but relented for now as I sat back in my chair and looked at him. Definitely Peter was someone I wanted to get to know a whole lot mo-

"Pryde!" A roar of a man resounded and I looked over to see the one…the only…Logan walking towards me and grabbing my arm as we stood. "Come on, I've been waiting for you for the past couple hours!"

"Wha… Logan?" I blinked in surprise.

"Come on Half-pint we got some things we need to take care of." Logan said and gestured backwards the way he came.

"Okay can you give me a moment first?" I asked exasperated. "I need to say goodbye to someone."

Logan looked over at Peter and I instantly saw the analyzing look he was giving poor Peter. It was a look he gave whenever any boys were sniffing around me or Rogue as we were growing up…wait what is that? For a bit of a moment I saw him sniff.

"Um hi uh….I'm Peter…Parker…." Peter said uncomfortably.

Logan sniffed again as if he was trying to prove that what he had smelled was correct.

"You have a few moments." Logan huffed and walked away…weird he never walks away like that. I turned and looked at Peter.

"So uh…was that like your Dad? Step Dad?" He asked which made me giggle a little.

"No he's not my dad… He's a teacher back at my old school. Logan has always been that way around me and a close friend of mine. He's like a mentor to me honestly."

"Huh…" Peter looked back in that direction at Logan then looked back. "Cool."

"Cool? He almost shish kabobed ya!" I laughed.

"I meant the whole mentor part." He explained laughing. "Honestly the last time I had one it didn't quite end very well if I'm being honest with you."

"What do you mean?"

"His name was Normon Osborn."

"OH!" I facepalmed as I heard him say that name and instantly recalled the news articles surrounding the destruction of the Green Goblin otherwise known as Normon Osborn." Sorry if that brought up some bad memories."

"Ah Don't worry about it…it's just a tad bit…iffy. It caused some issues with a good friend of mine." Peter looked down as he spoke.

"I get it." I spoke sheepishly as we stood there. "I've had that happen before between a few friends." We stood there for a good moment in the awkward atmosphere. "I uh….gotta."

"Yeah I um…me too."

"Lunch tomorrow?"

"I'd love to." I spoke a bit too quickly than I would have preferred.

"Cool."

"Cool." We stood there for a good moment before I waved and left. Hoping in Logan's truck and looking at him. He was staring at me as one finger rubbed his brow and a small smirk on his face. "What?" I asked confused.

"Who's the runt?" He asked and by the sound of it he was quite amused. God he was acting strange today.

"Um…Just some guy from my class. He takes Spider-man's photos."

"Ah." Logan nodded as he drove off from the university. "Then why ya smiling?"

"I'm not smiling!" I spoke annoyed at him and turned my head to look out the window at the passing city as he drove us somewhere. Probably wherever he needed to show me after school. Then my eyes drifted down slowly to the mirror and widened.

God damn it Logan was right…. I was in fact smiling. And it was all Peter Parker's fault.
