Namaskar, everyone, once again am glad to be back with something. Now I originally began this idea half a decade ago back in 2020 during when COVID was dominating us, thanks to being inspired by Jason Statham's movie 'Homefront', which for this, my now decided second attempt and this time FULLY intended full length doing, I'm gonna re-watch again to help.
And as I know everyone's gonna agree with me, Spallen/Barry and Patty is a ship we all love and prefer so much more than ANYTHING of the absolutely DISGUSTING and unbearable BS poison that a certain Ms West-Allen has done nothing but give off like a never ending stinkbomb in the now VERY very happily end sad sorry mess of a saga the Arrowverse was nothing but. That, and plus Spallen is still not as abundant on Fanfiction and Ao3 as it damn well should be, like FlashFrost/Barry and Caitlin and SuperFlash/Barry and Kara always seem to be.
So without any further ado, here I am with a second and this time fully intended fulfilled run with this 'Homefront' movie inspired idea, where our Scarlet Speedster boy Barry enters the movie's plot himself and falls in with Jason Statham star Phil Broker and his daughter Maddy and what befalls them over the movie's course, hope everyone enjoys. To help, we begin at the very end of 'The Flash' season 2 finale episode after Jay Garrick, Harry and Jesse have departed from Earth 1, but before Barry makes the decision which ultimately paves the way for the conveyer belt load of batshit that 'The Flash' show starts going down with season 3, something which is NOT gonna happen ONE SINGLE BIT HERE, let me assure everyone.
I do not own 'The Flash' show, 'Homefront' 2013 or any of the characters within either
Barry sat where he was on the steps of the West house, all sorts of emotions running through his head- the sheer pain of losing his remaining much loved real parent, dad Henry, to the psychopathic monstrous Hunter Zolomon; and the shock at learning that the real Jay Garrick of Earth 3 was his own dad's doppelganger, all of this he felt despite he and the rest of Team Flash and their two departed Earth 2 friends having just beaten Hunter and freed Jay from his long imprisonment- and what he had just exchanged about it all, followed by the kiss, with Iris, who had just closed the front door to the house.
He got to his feet and walked up to the window, looking through the curtains as Iris rejoined Joe, Wally, Cisco and Caitlin on the living room sofas. "That's why I'm so sorry," Barry said, as if he was in the room with them instead of outside, his voice thick with emotion, "But I have to do this."
He stepped back and turned round, preparing to speed away, knowing what he had to do, but at the last moment, something seemed to switch on in his mind and made him stop. A woman's voice, that of his own mum Nora, seemed to speak to him inside his head. Don't do it, my beautiful boy, she said, If you do, you will only make things for yourself, for everyone in your life, even for Oliver and the rest of your friends in Star City as well as here.
Barry just stood there, the tears which had been threatening to break free for some time finally doing so and coursing down his cheeks, his hands coming up, fingers grasping his hair very tightly they almost seemed to want to pull two fistfuls of it out of his scalp, as he knelt down on one knee, his mouth opening as he broke down. But I want to, Mom, he screamed in his mind, I've got nothing left thanks to Thawne and Hunter. Thawne took you away from me, sent dad to prison, and ruined both my life and those of all my friends and Joe for several years before we finally unmasked him. Hunter did the same thing with his poisoned lies and deception, and now he has taken Dad, the one family member who still meant so much to me even after you were killed, away from me too.
I know, Nora's voice said soothingly, caringly, You miss him very much indeed, and learning that the Flash of Earth 3 has his face probably doesn't help tremendously in itself.
So then what do I do instead, huh?, Barry countered back, If I can't go back and save you, stop Thawne from killing you, prevent all of this from ever happening so that I can have them back, you and dad, my family, back, then what else can I do?
Patty. And that, the one single word, broke the emotional wall, as Barry receeded in his sobs, his eyes opening, then blinking rapidly as he looked across the road towards the other side of the street, the voice in his head now having stunned him into silence. Think about Patty, Barry, what she would want you to do, what she would say about all this, about what you're going through and this decision you're thinking of doing, his mum's voice went on.
As Barry listened, he slowly realized that his mum was right, about everything. He had time travelled four times now, on two of which he had prevented the total destruction of Central City by stopping the perpetrators intent on said deed before they could do so, one of which he had had the opportunity to save his mum but had been signalled not to do so, and the last time had resulted in a former enemy being redeemed.
"But if I do so again, and this time to well and truly save Mom with nothing at all to stop me..." he said out loud to himself, "As much as I wanna see her and Dad again so bad, if I did do it, what if something goes wrong, something that this time I might never ever be able to put right?" He straightened up, wiping his wet cheeks with a hand, and turned back round to face his house. "What would happen to Joe? To Cisco, Caitlin, Oliver, Felicity, all of them?" Now his eyes widened, his mouth dropping open, as something even more horrific came to his mind. And Patty, he thought, Oh god, you're right, Mom. What would happen to Patty if I did it?
That's right, my beautiful boy, Nora's gentle never angry caring voice said, And don't forget also about what you had going for with her so much, before your special job as Central City's Scarlet Speedster ended it all.
And as Barry took in these latest words, he suddenly realized just how much they meant. And they were right. He and Patty had been so strong in their relationship, with Barry even saving her life at Christmas when Mark Mardon and James Jesse were on the loose, she had made him so happy, as happy as a man could ever had been made by a woman. And what had caused it all, this happy strong solid going relationship, to end?
The answer, Barry remembered with a twinge of both sadness and bitterness, was simple: it was him. He had lied to Patty over and over so many times about who his other self was, even denying it all that day in his lab at CCPD, after sending Eobard Thawne's earlier in time self back to the future in order to save Cisco, when she revealed that she finally managed to work out he was the Flash and had put it to him, denying it right to her face, the face of the woman he had been engaged in such a good strong happy relationship with, the end result being with her leaving Central City, and him.
"You're right, mom," he said to himself again, "Me and Patty were going so well together, even on that day Dr Light caused me to be temporarily blind and Cisco had to help me." Despite everything, Barry chuckled at the memory, "I broke through the impossibility barrier of the Turtle's slowing down powers in order to save her from him. I got her out of the Rogues' hideout before the Trickster's playbombs blew it to smithereens." He sighed and shook his head, "If only I had told Patty the truth at the very start, or at least freely admitted without hesitation that she was indeed right, that I am the Flash, instead of making her think she was going crazy in the head by denying it all, everything we'd built so well and so much of together despite all the troubles I face as the Flash wouldn't have been ruined. I wouldn't have lost her, and not made her feel all bad about it and leave Central City."
Now, his grief, sadness and brokenness all forgotten, a look of determination came upon Barry's face, and he nodded slowly. Thank you, Mom, he spoke to Nora in his head, You're absolutely right. As much as I would dearly love to see you and Dad again, more than anything else on this whole world, I have to think of the bigger picture, about what Patty would want me to do. He looked towards the front door of the house, then up towards his bedroom window, the determination on his face more set than ever. And that means I have only one other option, only one other alternative which could help me overcome all that Thawne and Hunter have both taken from me without going back in time to do so. And that is that I have to leave here, go and find Patty, reconcile with her, make up for everything that I myself made responsible by lying to her, see if I can make things right with her.
That's it, my beautiful boy, my Barry, Nora's voice replied, and this time Barry drew a mental image, picturing her standing in front of him, her whole never ever forgotten face lit up by her soft loving smile as her right hand came up to rest on his cheek, her blue eyes looking deep into his. "Go and find Patty," Nora said, "Make things right with her, no matter however long it takes for you to locate her, and hopefully that will help you deal with everything that you're feeling right now. And remember as you do so..." she leaned forward and kissed him gently on the forehead before returning to the correct posture, "That I love you so much, and your dad does too, and we will always be in your heart forever."
Barry nodded, the tears threatening to come again, as he smiled back at the mental picture of his dear mum. "I will, mom. I promise," he said, and then he snapped himself back into reality, Nora disappearing.
"But first..." Barry said, and with a small but fresh spring to his stride, he walked back up the West house steps, opened the door and went in. Closing the door behind him, and with a brief glance in the direction of the Wests and Cisco and Caitlin still seated together in the living room area, he strode over to the stairs which lead up to the bedrooms and started to ascend them.
"Barry?" Joe called from behind him, but Barry ignored him and continued up, arriving at the top floor and went into his bedroom. Once there, he set to work, first ringing the taxi company, arranging for a soon as possible pick up from the house, then packing clothes and other essential items, some from the bathroom, into an army rucksack, and then retrieving his wallet from where it sat on the bedside table and checking that everything he kept in it was there before placing it in his trouser pocket, along with his phone.
"Barry." It was Joe again, and Barry turned to see him standing in the doorway, looking quite stunned at what he was seeing Barry do. "What's going on?" Now he noticed the rucksack, all zipped up and ready, loaded with everything that Barry knew he would need for the journey ahead, "Are you leaving or something?"
Barry nodded. "I can't stay here, Joe," he began calmly. Joe was shocked, but didn't say anything, allowing Barry to continue, "If I do, all I'll be doing is thinking over and over about Dad, about Jay and the fact that he's my dad's doppelganger, and of everything else that Hunter has taken from us." He shook his head and came forward slowly so that he stood directly in front of Joe.
"Yes, we beat him, Joe, Hunter is gone," Barry went on, and when he next spoke the emotion, thick and heavy, came back into his voice, "But I don't feel the sense of victory right now. Like I told Iris a few minutes ago, I feel so hollow and broken inside, and because of that I almost made a big and potentially terrible mistake, but very thankfully I manage to prevent myself from doing it." Now he rested his hands on Joe's shoulders, looking deep into his surrogate father's eyes as they now prickled with tears themselves, "And that is why the only other option I have left to me is to leave Central City for a while, until I fix what's wrong with me. I need to find some peace."
And with that, Joe pulled Barry into a crushing hug, Barry doing the same and feeling his shoulders dampening as a result as Joe started crying. They remained like that for some time, till finally, they slowly came apart. "Where will you go though, Barr?" Joe asked.
Barry shrugged. "I dunno, Joe," he answered, "I may be wandering the whole country for a while, go walkabout if you like, but I do have an objective in mind."
"What?"
Now Barry managed a slight smile. "I have an old friend who I need to find and make a few things right with," he said, "And who I should've been honest with from the start, which if I had I wouldn't have lost her and cost us our relationship."
At first, Joe was confused, then understanding came and his face brightened as he nodded. "I know who you mean, Barr," he said, "And I support your decision completely." He rested his hands on Barry's cheeks, "And remember, if ever you need some family level support, from me, Cisco or Caitlin, this place..." he gestured briefly with his head, indicating the hallway where they now both stood, "...and us, we will always be here when you need us."
Barry smiled fully now. "Thanks, Joe," he said, and they embraced a second time, Joe patting Barry on the back. Then they came apart again and Barry went back into the bedroom and reached down for his rucksack, throwing the straps over his shoulders and tightening them, before having a last look around his room, taking in the familiar place which had meant a lot to him during all the years he had lived in this house ever since his mum's murder. It was then that the sound of a car came from outside, and he went over to the window and looked out, seeing the yellow taxi that had just pulled up outside the house.
He turned back to Joe. "I think my ride's here," he said simply. Joe nodded, and together the two of them headed back downstairs.
"Hey, dude," Cisco said, he, Caitlin, Iris and Wally waiting at the bottom of the stairs, as Barry and Joe appeared, "What's with the taxi arrival?" Then he noticed the straps of Barry's rucksack, an expression of complete shocked surprise now came upon his face as he pointed, "Are you...?"
"Are you going somewhere, Barry?" Caitlin finished the question off, she, Iris and Wally, having also seen Barry's bag, just as shocked as Cisco.
Barry nodded. "Can I talk to you guys?" he asked.
"Dude, of course," Cisco said instantly, and as Joe opened the door he and Caitlin went outside. Iris and Wally prepared to go next, but Barry blocked their way and raised a finger.
"No, Iris," he said firmly, his face hard and determined. Iris opened her mouth to argue, but a glance at her father and a shake of the head from a firm mouthed Joe shut up any possibility and she kept silent.
"Uh, can I...? Wally spoke up.
Barry nodded. "Of course, mate," he said. He looked to Joe, who nodded his additional agreement, and Wally exited the house, joining Cisco and Caitlin out on the porch, Barry and Joe following after him, Joe closing the door behind him. The taxi stood where it had been parked in front of the house, the driver, a young Chinese American with a beard, waiting by it, leaning against the car with his arms folded.
"D'you mind waiting a moment, please?" Barry called out to him.
"Sure. Take as long as you need. The meter's running," the driver said in confirmation.
Barry nodded. "Thanks. I won't be long," he assured him.
"What's going on, Barry?" Caitlin asked. And Barry explained everything.
"Who's Patty?" Wally asked after he had finished.
"Barry's ex-girlfriend who left Central City at the beginning of this year," Cisco answered in explanation, "She served with CCPD as a detective and a member of the Anti-Metahuman Task Force while she was here. Almost got killed twice, first time by the devilish terrorist clown Trickster, second time by a guy called the Turtle. Surname's Spivot by the way"
"And now you're going to go find her," Caitlin said to Barry.
Barry nodded. "I have to, Caitlin," he said calmly, "If I'd been honest with Patty at the start, or not at all denied that I was the Flash when she managed to figure the whole thing out herself, I would still be with her. She was always there for me." He glanced at Cisco, "Even during when you had to guide me through our whole first proper date while I was temporarily unable to see thanks to Dr Light." The two of them chuckled at the memory of it. "And she made me happy, as happy as I could ever have been in a manly relationship with a woman," Barry went on. He now glanced towards the closed door to the house, knowing who was waiting on the other side.
"I should've realized this a long time ago, but any feelings I possibly ever had for Iris..." Barry shook his head and turned back to his adoptive father and two friends and Wally, "That is not true love at all. Infatuation, that's what it always is with her." A look of disgust came over Barry's face, "She and I grew up under the same roof, thanks to you taking me in after Thawne murdered mom and dad got sent to prison for it all, Joe, and that is supposed to make her a sister figure, not the other way round."
Wally looked shocked, Cisco and Caitlin shared looks and nodded their agreement on the same thing, as Joe also nodded. "You're right, man," he said, "I should've done the same thing as you too when I had the chance." He turned to his son, "And the fact that your own sister blame me and Barr for Eobard Thawne-"
"That's Barry's greatest enemy, just to let you know of the basic facts for now," Cisco briefly interrupted with.
"...taking her boyfriend and future fiance Eddie Thawne, Eobard's ancestor here in the present, when it wasn't even our fault. And taking till only this year, when your mother was dying, to tell me of your very existence, son..." Joe shook his head.
"I know what you mean, dad," Wally nodded, laying a hand on Joe's shoulder, "And I don't blame you for any of it." He gave his father a reassuring smile.
"And I now accept the fact that Iris did deliberately sabotage mine and Linda's first go," Barry concluded. Another shake of the head followed, and then he went on, "And that's why I need to do this, why I have to go in search of Patty. And it's not just because of her."
"Man, I understand," Cisco said gently and he came forward and hugged Barry. "Take as long as you need, I would certainly need the same thing myself if it happened to me." They came apart, "And remember, you need any sorta support from the STAR Labs master creator and joke giver..." Cisco did a gesture with his hand as if he was holding a phone to his ear, "Just ring."
"No worries, dude," Barry answered, not needing any further words as Caitlin now came forward to hug him also.
"Good luck. And I hope you find what you're looking for along the course of your journey," she said, kissing him on the cheek as they now came apart.
"I will, I'm sure of it," Barry nodded, giving her a reassuring smile as well, Caitlin returning it with her own. Then he turned to Wally and held out a hand.
"I know we haven't exactly known each other for a long time, Wally, but now that you know who I am, thanks to Zoom, welcome to our world," Barry said to him, "And look after everyone while I'm gone."
Wally nodded and shook Barry's hand. "Thanks, dude, and I will, I promise," he replied.
"Doesn't that fall to me?" Joe asked teasingly. He and the other four all chuckled at his remark, and then he and Barry came forward to each other and embraced a third time.
"Go get her, Barr," Joe said, "And find the peace you badly need after all that has happened in the last day or so."
"I will," Barry answered.
"Mr Allen, sir?" the taxi driver called out at last, and as Barry and Joe released each other, Barry looked in his direction, and the driver spoke again, "Think it's time we were going, don't you think, sir?"
Barry nodded. "Coming," he said and headed down the steps to the waiting car, the driver opening the driver's door and getting back in. Barry opened the back door, un-shouldered his bag and reached in, placing it on the seat beside where he was about to sit himself, behind the driver. Before he did so though, he looked back one last time towards the quartet who remained where they were on the West house's porch, watching him with emotional faces, and gave them a smile and waved. They answered with their own waves, Caitlin, Cisco and Joe struggling to hold back tears, as Barry got into the cab and closed the door.
"Where to, Mr Allen?" the driver asked.
"Central City train station, please," Barry answered. And as the car moved off, he looked out of the back window, waving one last time to his friends and adoptive father, doing so until they and the house were out of sight.
Settling back against the back seat, looking out through the front window, Barry contemplated on the mammoth task he knew lay ahead of him, but he knew full well, and he was utterly determined on the matter, he was going to see it out to the end. He would find her, however long it would take for him to do so, he had to, if he was to make up for all the past mistakes that had lead to their break-up and her departure from his life. I'll find you, Patty, he said to himself, I promise. I'm coming.
And there we are, hope everyone enjoyed this starting chapter. As I said at the start, this now restarted after five years, and this time WILL be done in the full at last as I've been wanting to do so again for a while now, idea of mine has been inspired, as it was back then also, by the movie of 'Homefront' itself, and so from next chapter onwards that is where we get into- the movie itself, in the same location as it's set, with Jason Statham's character Phil Broker and daughter Maddy and the rest of the character cast played by the same actors as they are in it, and the exact same plot that happens in it, with of course the necessary changes that'll be done considering Barry's own part to play in it himself in this, though a certain Sheriff Keith Rodrigue will actually be someone else entirely. If anyone caught the title name and figured out exactly where the words come from originally, give yaselves a pat on the back, cos THAT'S the clue to what'll be coming.
Now as I believe the Louisiana town where Phil and Maddy Broker and everyone else in the film live has no name, could I possibly, to help with here, a good name suggestion for it? Please drop me a proposal in ya reviews, and I'll decide who gets the winning score and decision, haha. Until then, adios, amigos, from Flashraven
