Chapter 34: The Birth of Perfection
The dense forest lay in eerie silence, the rustling of the leaves the only sound accompanying the soft flow of a nearby river. The air was heavy, as if the earth itself was holding its breath. Nestled within the trees, Android 17 leaned casually against a rock, arms folded across his chest, his expression set in mild frustration.
"I'm telling you, 18," he said, his tone bored yet sharp. "We don't have to keep running. Goku's strong, sure, but we're not just going to dodge him forever."
Android 18, standing near the riverbank, kicked a small stone into the water, watching the ripples spread outward. "You're still underestimating them. Did you forget how easily they handled us back there?" she muttered, crossing her arms.
17 rolled his eyes. "We weren't fighting seriously."
"Neither were they," she snapped.
A heavy sigh escaped from the towering figure sitting nearby. Android 16, silent up until now, finally spoke. "We should not be idle. Staying in one place makes us vulnerable." His voice was steady, mechanical, but laced with something else—an instinctive warning.
17 scoffed. "To what? We're the strongest beings on the planet."
But something in 16's expression darkened. His gaze flickered toward the surrounding trees. His advanced sensors, tuned to detect even the slightest irregularities in the environment, had detected something unusual. Something unnatural.
Something… hunting them.
His eyes narrowed. "Something is coming."
17 raised an eyebrow. "Goku?"
16's voice was eerily calm. "No. Something worse."
Then, the silence shattered.
A blur of green burst from the darkness, moving at an inhuman speed. Before 17 could even turn, something struck him in the back with the force of a missile. He gasped as he was sent hurtling forward, his body crashing into the ground, tearing through trees and boulders like a ragdoll.
18 barely had time to process what had happened before a shadowy figure stepped forward from the trees.
Tall. Monstrous. With mottled green skin, an elongated tail twitching behind him like a scorpion ready to strike, and piercing orange eyes that gleamed with pure menace.
The creature smiled.
"Well, well," the deep, slithering voice came, dripping with amusement. "What a fortunate day this is."
18's breath caught in her throat. "Who… what the hell are you?"
The monster's smirk widened. "Oh, don't worry about that, my dear. You won't be conscious long enough for it to matter."
Then, he lunged.
But before his claws could reach her, a massive fist slammed into the creature's face, sending him rocketing back through the trees.
Android 16 had moved.
His normally impassive face had hardened into something unrecognizable. Something dangerous.
"You are a threat," 16 said coldly, stepping in front of 18 like an immovable wall. "I will eliminate you."
Cell grunted as he pulled himself out of the debris, rubbing his jaw, where 16 had struck him. He glanced at his hand, spotting traces of green liquid. He chuckled softly. "That actually hurt," he admitted, his voice carrying an eerie excitement. "I should've expected this. You're stronger than me in my current state."
He barely had time to finish speaking before 16 was on him again.
There was no wasted movement, no hesitation. 16's attacks were cold, calculated, and brutally efficient. His fist drove into Cell's stomach with a devastating blow, making the bio-android's entire body jolt from the impact. Cell gasped, a strangled sound escaping his throat, but 16 wasn't done. He brought his elbow down onto the back of Cell's head, sending him crashing into the ground, leaving a crater in his wake.
The ground trembled as 16 pressed his advantage, delivering a relentless flurry of punches, each one harder than the last. Cell barely managed to block a few, but he was being completely overwhelmed.
From a short distance away, 18 and 17 stared in shock.
"He's actually winning," 18 whispered, her blue eyes widening.
17 smirked. "Of course he is. Cell's strong, but 16's stronger."
Cell groaned, coughing up green fluid as he struggled to rise. He wiped his mouth, grinning through the pain.
"Wow," he chuckled, his voice eerily calm despite the damage he had taken. "You really don't mess around."
16 raised his arm. "No."
Then he moved in for the final blow.
But just as 16's fist came down, Cell's tail lashed out—not at him, but at 17.
"NO!" 16 roared.
It was too late.
Cell's tail impaled 17's chest in an instant.
17 barely had time to let out a strangled gasp before his body glowed… and then vanished.
Absorbed.
The ground trembled as Cell's body began to change. His muscles bulged, his form twisted and contorted, and his power skyrocketed to unimaginable levels.
As the transformation settled, a new being stood in his place.
Semi-Perfect Cell had been born.
16 took a step back, his systems registering something horrifying.
Cell was now stronger than him.
Cell rolled his shoulders, flexing his new fingers, feeling the raw power flowing through him. "Oh, now this is much better," he mused.
16 charged again, trying to end it before Cell could adjust to his new power.
But this time, Cell dodged effortlessly.
With blinding speed, he countered with a devastating punch to 16's gut.
16's body jerked violently from the impact, and before he could recover, Cell followed up with a brutal elbow to the back, sending the massive android crashing into the ground.
For the first time since his activation, Android 16 was losing.
Cell turned his gaze toward 18, his golden eyes gleaming with hunger. "Now… where were we?"
Without hesitation, 18 turned and fled.
She flew over the ocean, trying to put as much distance between her and the monster as possible. But Cell was already on the move.
He didn't need to chase her.
He only needed her to hesitate.
And so, with a smirk, he created an afterimage of 17.
"18!" the illusion called, its voice desperate. "Help me!"
She stopped.
Only for a second.
But that was all Cell needed.
He appeared behind her, his tail shooting forward—
And Android 18 was gone.
A massive explosion of power erupted from Cell's body as his final transformation began.
The ocean split apart, the sky darkened, and the entire world trembled at the arrival of something truly terrifying.
As the dust settled, a new figure stood where Imperfect Cell once was.
Tall. Refined. Perfect.
His golden eyes gleamed with confidence. He flexed his fingers, admiring his body, feeling the absolute power radiating from within.
"Ah…" Cell exhaled, a satisfied smirk spreading across his face. "So this is what it means to be perfect."
His gaze turned to the horizon. There was still one last thing to do.
The earth trembled beneath their feet as a sinister energy spread across the planet like a storm swallowing the sky. The air grew heavier, as if gravity itself had increased under the sheer force of the power radiating from one single point.
At Capsule Corp, Bulma's hands shook as she dropped a wrench she had been holding. The metal clattered loudly against the floor, but she barely noticed. Baby Trunks began to cry in his crib, as if sensing the overwhelming darkness pressing down on everything.
At the DEO, J'onn J'onzz, usually calm and collected, felt a chill run through his Martian body. "This presence…" he murmured, his eyes narrowing. "This is unlike anything we've ever faced."
In Kame House, Master Roshi nearly dropped his tea, his expression grim. "That's no ordinary power… This feels worse than King Piccolo… worse than Frieza."
But the most immediate reaction came from the Z Fighters.
Trunks clenched his fists, his breath coming in sharp gasps. "That energy… it's monstrous. It's nothing like the androids'—this is something entirely different."
Piccolo's face was pale. "It's… worse than Frieza," he muttered, horror creeping into his voice. "Worse than anything I've ever felt before."
Krillin, usually quick with a joke to lighten the mood, was silent. He swallowed hard, sweat beading at his temple. "This is bad. Really bad."
Goku stood still, his expression unreadable, his golden Super Saiyan aura flickering gently around him as he focused on the energy. Kara stood beside him, her eyes narrowed, her jaw tight. Neither spoke for a long moment.
Then, finally, Goku took a step forward. "We're going."
Kara nodded without hesitation. "I'm coming with you."
Goku placed his hand on her shoulder.
And in an instant, they vanished.
They reappeared in a desolate wasteland, where the very ground had been torn apart by the sheer force of power that had erupted moments ago. The sky above them was a dark, sickly shade of green, as if nature itself had recoiled in fear.
And in the middle of it all stood a single figure.
He was tall and eerily elegant, his body sleek and refined, every movement exuding absolute confidence. His green exoskeleton gleamed in the fading sunlight, his golden eyes watching them with amusement. His arms were crossed, and a smirk curled at the edge of his lips.
Goku and Kara both tensed instinctively.
They didn't know who—or what—this was, but every fiber of their being told them he was dangerous.
The creature let out a low chuckle. "Ah," he mused, his voice smooth and oddly polite. "I was wondering when you'd show up."
Goku's gaze hardened. "Who are you?"
The creature tilted his head slightly, his smirk widening. "Ah, where are my manners? I suppose introductions are in order."
Slowly, he raised a hand, gesturing toward himself as if presenting a work of art.
"I am Cell," he said smoothly. "The perfect being. The ultimate lifeform."
Kara's brow furrowed. "Ultimate lifeform?"
Cell chuckled. "Oh, my dear Kryptonian. Allow me to enlighten you."
He took a slow step forward, his golden gaze locking onto them with a predatory amusement. "I was created by Dr. Gero, though I suppose 'engineered' would be a more accurate term. You see, I am not just one being—I am a collection of the strongest warriors to ever walk this planet."
Goku and Kara exchanged brief glances before looking back at him, their muscles tensing further.
"Your DNA, Goku," Cell continued. "Piccolo's. Vegeta's. Frieza's." He paused, his smirk deepening. "And even yours, Supergirl."
Kara stiffened, her eyes flashing with fury. "You're lying."
"Oh?" Cell chuckled. "Come now, Kara. I know you can feel it. There's a reason you sensed my power and knew it wasn't just a human or a Saiyan. I am Kryptonian, in part, thanks to the cells extracted from the battle you fought against Vegeta and Nappa years ago."
Kara's hands clenched into fists.
"But unlike you," Cell continued, his voice dripping with satisfaction, "I don't have your weaknesses. I am not hindered by Kryptonite, nor do I suffer the limitations of a yellow sun. I am perfection itself—without flaw, without vulnerability."
Goku remained silent, but his jaw tightened.
Cell sighed dramatically, spreading his arms in a theatrical gesture. "But I didn't summon you here just to boast. No, I have something far more entertaining in mind."
His golden eyes gleamed with pure arrogance as he continued. "I am the strongest being on Earth. But I think it's only fair to give you all a chance to prove me wrong."
A cruel smirk stretched across his lips.
"So, let's play a little game."
The air around them vibrated as his power subtly flared.
"In ten days, I will hold a tournament. A competition for the world to see," Cell announced, his tone casual, yet carrying an undeniable authority. "The Cell Games."
Goku's eyes narrowed. "A tournament?"
"Yes," Cell said, clearly enjoying himself. "I will fight anyone who dares challenge me. One by one. And when I emerge victorious, the world will finally understand true perfection."
Kara took a step forward, her voice sharp. "You think this is a game?"
Cell grinned. "Yes."
Her fists shook with fury. "How many people are you going to kill before then?"
Cell chuckled softly. "Oh, Supergirl," he said, shaking his head as if she were a child who didn't understand the rules of a game. "That entirely depends on how long it takes for you all to amuse me."
A long silence stretched between them, the air thick with tension.
Then, finally, Goku exhaled slowly and gave a small nod. "Fine," he said. "We'll be there."
Cell's smirk widened.
"I look forward to it."
And with that, the fate of the world was sealed.
To be continued...
