I sat shotgun in my mom's minivan. Sam sat behind me in the middle row, Emerie and Molly were in the back. We were waiting for Ginny. She came out and sat next to Sam. Mom drove us to Playdium. It was my 13th birthday. She was going to pick us up about three hours later. We waved as she drove off, then went inside. I got everyone wristbands an Credits for the games, then we split up. Emerie and Molly went to Dance Dance Revolution. Me, Ginny and Sam went to Luigi's Mansion. We took turns, one person watching while the other two played.
At one point while I was watching, I saw a flash of grey out the corner of my eye. I turned and saw what it was. It had grey skin, yellow eyes, modern clothing, and if I looked at it long enough I could see through it to it's skeleton. Skeleton! Thank you Percy Jackson. I thought. I got exited.
I know he always starts with 'Look I didn't wanna be a Half-blood.' But I did. I absolutely did. I wanted to meet my heroes; Solangelo. I wanted that so much. I wanted to go to CHB. If I can see this that must mean I'm either a clear sighted mortal or a Half-blood! Or a Legacy. Then I remembered the skeleton and I forgot about being exited, for now at least.
Ginny and Sam finished their game. "Alex, are you okay?" Sam asked. Then she saw the skeleton too. "I-Is that..." Ginny asked. I nodded. She grabbed our wrists, which snapped me out of the terrified trance I was in. She let go of my wrist and I lead them over to Molly and Emerie. "We need to go, now." I told them. "Why?" "No time. I'll explain later."
We ran out of the Arcade, got a taxi, and went to the harbor. We boarded a Ferry.
I told Em and Molly about the skeleton. Once our boat got to Long Island we got off. Once I'd spent a day trying to figure out where CHB would be on Apple Maps. So I somewhat knew where we were going. I lead them to what I hoped was Half-blood Hill.
We were at the base of the hill when Molly asked what was happening. I was about to respond when a voice behind us said "hello."
Everyone but me jumped. I'd been trying to match a voice to the person for a while, now that I'd heard him I knew exactly who he was. I spun around. "You-you're..." my voice failed me, so I tried again. "You're Nico Di Angelo." I said unable to mask the awe and excitement at meeting my hero in my voice.
