Ok so those of you that have stuck around have seen a lot of small updates.Small rewrites. And I think I may finally have a layout for this story. Sorry for all of those around that think its taken to long(to be fair it has...sorry) but I shouldn't be gone as long this time... Hopefully. Thank you all for still reading if you are. The rest of these chapters will be updated the final time within the month.
Also I do not own Percy Jackson. That belongs to Rick Riordian. I own some of the ideas for the plot but some have been ripped off of others. Dont like don't read simple. I own any OCs that I may introduce don't know if i will yet all the way. Also please comment. Im interested in what you all have to say and can always use a tweak to my writing. That said anything overyly hateful will be ignored...

The Betrayal
Tartarus
Being a hero isn't as great as people believe it to be. There's great things that come out of it for sure, but there are things far worse. No matter how strong or how great you are, things always take a turn for the worst. No matter what you do, no matter how great the achievement there will always be someone to replace you. You will always be seen as expendable to those who believe themselves better than you. Trust me it's how I ended up in this godsforsaken Pit.
Camp Olympus boundary 2012
Atop Half-Blood Hill a lone man stood guard underneath a large tree with a shiny fleece among its branches. With his hand among a massive dragon's head he looked over his home.
"I wonder what life will bring now, Peleus," he spoke. " Our wars are over. What do we have left in this camp? The young ones don't want to listen to tales of war and our generation doesn't talk about them either. We-"
Spinning around, he could only stare in horror at the black cloud that rose into the sky. "The camp..." he whispered, before disappearing in a mist.
Camp Olympus
Rematerializing in the camp the man immediately took stock of the situation. Monsters were rushing from the forest into the camp and overrunning the defense force. Taking the moment to breathe the man's sea green eyes flared in a show of power and a large wave crashed over the army of monsters. Immediately, he charged into the fray, slicing his way through the army and to the front of the demigod ranks. He paused as he made a circle around a secluded half-blood and cleared the monsters around him in a wave of bronze. Looking at the child he recognized as a child of Apollo and he flicked his head to the side before continuing on his way.
Once he made his way to the line of demigods he turned around and planted his blade in the ground. The ground started to shake before a large crack shattered the earth, staggering the monster's movement and allowing the demigods to reorganize. Once the tremors stopped, he stood up and watched the formation of monsters try to reorganize. He started to move forward and blocked an empusas blade, before he twisted and slashed through her gut, coating the blade in black ichor.
The demigods behind him were rejuvenated by the new arrival. Roman and Greek worked together as they moved through the city. The rigid Roman formations protected by the staggered groups of Greeks along the sides and in front of them. After a few minutes several familiar figures staggered around the demigod as he floated through the monster army.
With a lull in the fighting the tall man looked around himself. He saw the chaos of war again and felt alive for the first time in a while. He saw the fallen demigods and several more that looked like they were near death's door and for a moment felt wrong. Looking back he slipped into leadership again as he met the eyes of his friends.
Looking at them he came up with a plan and said, "We need to split up so we can cover more ground. Me, Annabeth, and Clarisse can cover this area. Will and Chris you guys get all the wounded and dead back inside the city. Leo take the left side of the formation with Travis and Conner. Rest of you take the right side." While reluctant, the small group of veteran campers did as Percy told them and retreated with the wounded and fallen.
As the group of demigods entered the city the monster attacked again. The new attack forced the guards to close the gates and keep any demigods still in the city to stay there. Realizing their situation the campers that were outside joined up in front of the gates. They worked in perfect harmony as the monsters attacked. A spear would slam through a distant target while a dagger covered her back. A burst of fire flew around them before a pair of xiphos cut through the ranks of monsters with blonde hair and grinning faces. Then a xiphos lashed out, cutting through several monsters at once. Slowly the group started to be pushed back. Their attacks moving slower. More predictable. And finally after several hours of battle, their fatigue slowly made itself more known. Small wounds started to rack up among the demigods and finally, something broke.
A black arrow flew through the battle and slammed into Clarisse's shoulder. The force of the attack picked her up off her feet and slammed her into the ground. The man was immediately by her side standing over the injured daughter of War. Annabeth moved over her seconds later looking at the injury. The rest of the group held off the monsters as the man gently picked Clarisse up.
Standing back up Annabeth watched in shock as water rushed over them and tore the monsters apart. Looking back towards her leader she was terrified of the look in his eyes. The glowing sea green eyes looked at the wall of water and slowly shifted to the daughter of Athena beside him. Once they reached her and she made eye contact Annabeth found herself frozen in sheer terror. Those were the same eyes as the monster that he became in Tartarus. He said "Annabeth. Get Clarisse to the medical building. I'll take care of this."
She faintly heard before she shook her head looking at him in shock before softly saying. "But Percy...not even you can handle this many monsters!" Percy stood up Clarisse still in his hands and handed her to Annabeth.
"Go. Now. The rest of you follow her in." He ordered, leaving no room for argument as he turned and walked towards the water wall. When he reached the wall of water, the ground below them turned to ice and shot them out of the tunnel back into the camp. Once they finally got their bearings back, with Clarisse slowly fading away, they saw the wall close before slowly freezing itself, closing all the demigods in on one side.
As they watched the wall, the fighting on the other side seemed to stop before pained roars reached their ears as Perseus began his attack.
With Percy
I was sick of it. My family was injured or killed. Jason Grace. Dead. Bob, Zoë, Silena, Charles, Bianca and so many more are also dead. I was done. No more. My friends will not suffer as the past ones have. I charged the monsters, no longer caring if they died quickly or slowly as I attacked them, cutting off arms, legs and anything that I could reach, becoming what my name implies. The destroyer. As my anger grew, the ichor in my veins glowing with power as a hurricane grew around me.
With every monster I cut down, I felt the ichor in their veins raining down on me, sinking into my veins through the small cuts I had across my body. Paying the burning heat no mind, I continued my rampage unaware of my canines growing longer and sharper, or my body becoming stronger. I simply continued through the monsters that got in my way.
Once I made it to another small zone of emptiness, my foot stumbled over a small obstacle and when I looked down, I saw the remains of an arm. It only fueled my rage more as I immediately corrected my form before grabbing an empousa that charged me and slamming her into the ground. Sadly, she bit my arm and the effects seemed to be immediate as the burning in my body intensified. With the burning pain, the storm around me intensified itself and I had to steady myself as a hellhound flew through the air next to me. Huh. Never thought I was this powerful.
Deciding to pay this heed another time, I continued to wade through the monsters as my ichor continued to burn brightly in my body, illuminating my godly veins with a murky golden black color as I absorbed more of the ichor. But as I collected more of the godly blood in my veins, something started to change in me. I could still feel my connection to the sea, but I couldn't feel my connection to the people. Everyone around me was a demigod... I couldn't feel them like I could minutes ago...what is happening to me?
MINUTES LATER
This was the most alive I've felt in years! The tugging in my gut from the power I was unleashing was the only thing keeping me grounded, but even that was beginning to fade. I knew I should stop, but...It feels so good. I felt alive in the thrill of battle. It reminded me of my triumphs. The fun of winning. My instincts kept telling me to kill, but something else was involved. I could hear the monsters around me as they died. I could hear their thoughts. Their emotions. Their FEAR. When the water finally started to cloud my vision, something that I didn't even know could happen, I let my feelings and senses drive me. Every stroke brought down a new monster, a new curse, and more ichor. More power. I knew that I should've stopped while I was ahead. While they were retreating. But something didn't let me. Maybe the glow my veins now have. I never thought that I would glow a golden black.
Then I heard it. The telling sign that an immortal had flashed onto the scene, followed by a gasp. It was a small thing that I barely registered and knew I should have stopped for. But I continued my fighting, my hurricane growing around me as I continued my assault.
For what felt like hours I continued. The monsters slowly falling to my blade or the storm as I watched them retreat before something tried to sneak up on me. I immediately thought it was another monster so when I turned around and caught sight of silver eyes and auburn hair, my blade trembled when it stopped inches from the face of Artemis. Her eyes were wide when they connected with mine. She seemed shocked, but I wasn't surprised until I saw the glint of gleaming silver knives in her hands as she stared at me. I watched her as she seemed to try and come up with an excuse before she was blasted back by a small stream of water and landed in the middle of a pile of monster ash.
Then, I made the one mistake that every amateur makes when in their first fight. I turned my back on a goddess. Before I could correct my mistake, everything went black with the sound of a powerful crack. The last thing I saw was a pair of saddened silver eyes, as I heard a melodic voice whisper in my ear "Forgive me Perseus."
Camp Olympus Artemis and hunters
Me and my Hunters had packed up camp as soon as we heard that Camp Olympus had been attacked by a large army of monsters, but when we reached the camp all of us froze at the sight.
A single man was fighting against the tides of monsters and at first, I thought it was an immortal as the veins in his body were glowing gold, but then I saw the eyes. The sea-green orbs of anger that I only knew of two people having.
Poseidon, but he was on Olympus. And finally… Perseus…
Letting out a gasp, I watched as Perseus Jackson stood in the middle of the monsters, battling them all alone. No, battling wasn't the right word...slaughtering was. Not a single monster from empousa, hellhound, or dracaena, was spared. All falling to his blade or the ice that shot out of the storm, impaling them through the stomachs, leaving them to lay there bleeding out.
My stomach dropped at the sight of an empousa slashed in half, as she tried to escape the battlefield only for Perseus' heel to be brought down on its head splattering it before it turned to dust. The black ichor covering Perseus' foot and leg.
"Bring us Perseus, Artemis. His power has been unchecked for far too long and he is going to face punishment for abandoning his post and letting the monsters into camp-half-blood." Zeus' voice boomed in my mind, and I flinched.
"But father, surely there is a mistake! Perseus' fatal flaw is loyalty, after all! Could he truly betray his friends and family?" I responded, still staring out at the massacre, thinking 'Why aren't the monsters automatically bursting to dust?'
Then, Zeus' voice boomed in my ears "Bring me the boy, Artemis!" in response. Although I wasn't happy with the way this was going, I looked back at Perseus, watching him pick an empousa up before slamming it into the ground, destroying the demon's head.
I tried to sneak up behind him, feeling a sense of foreboding as I pulled my twin hunting knives out. When I was a few paces from him, his veins pulsed and he whipped around, blade stopping inches from my face. I immediately froze, eyes wide as I met his gaze. His eyes seemed surprised for a moment before they trailed down, stopping by my thighs... where my knives were in my hands. I watched him warily as his gaze hardened and the storm intensified around us before a whip of water threw me away from him and into the mountains of dust around us.
I watched him turn his back on me before freezing. It was too late, however, as I was already upon him, crashing my pommel into the back of his head. As he fell, I gripped his arm and placed a pair of shackles on him before, regretfully, placing him on my shoulders. Once he was up I flashed to Olympus, leaving my hunters to pick off the stragglers as the storm dissipated.
Olympus
When Artemis arrived in the Council Throne Room on Olympus, Perseus strewn across her shoulders as she stared at the other gods, she was surprised to see all the gods staring at her. She was even more shocked when she noticed Poseidon glaring at her. No Perseus, who was upon her shoulders. Hephaestus walked towards her with another set of chains in his hands and took Perseus from her. He then dropped him onto the ground, unceremoniously before putting the extra chains on him. She looked at Perseus sadly again before watching Athena's smug, smirking face turn to Poseidon before it dropped at the glare he was sending his only demigod son.
She watched Poseidon carefully as she stood to collect the demigods with Hermes. After all, it isn't every day that you see a god turn on their favored hero or child.
As the two Olympians flashed back in, hundreds of Demigods from both Roman and Greek gods sat in the throne room. The demigods slowly swiveled their gazes to the prone person in the middle of the room. They watched him struggle to his feet, shaking his head. In stunned silence, the demigods watched the battered person raise his head and blood dribbled down onto the floor. After all, who could be in enough trouble to be brought to Olympus like this? They watched the golden-black mixture of fluids drip from multiple wounds across his body before they started to pull the flecks of gold off. Finally, sea-green eyes opened in a mixture of fury that had almost every demigod in the room flinch.
When Zeus saw that Perseus was finally awake, although still groggy, he decided to start the trial.
With a flash of thunder Zeus declared "Perseus Jackson! You have been called here for treason of the highest degree and are now in trial. What have you to say for yourself?" his booming voice echoed across the throne room as a smug grin appeared on his face while he glared down at the demigod.
Perseus looked around the throne room, looking for any faces that he was able to recognize. He spotted Annabeth's gray eyes, which stared at him in a mixture of horror and surprise. While his gaze continued to slide across the room, he only truly recognized a handful of people. Immediately he knew that this was to be a farce trial, he was meant to lose. He had already heard the rumors of him. 'The emotionless one' is a common nickname among the younger generation of demigods. All his accomplishments were there, but so too was the fear of his abilities. Most of the demigods at the camp believed he was unstable after Tartarus and his friends' deaths.
Then he turned to the gods and started to look at the faces among them, immediately spotting the ones that disliked him. Not surprising it seems to outweigh the ones that do. By quite a large margin it seems... His eyes turned around before they met Artemis who he glared at heavily. He felt betrayed by her. His head hurt like hell too...
Getting impatient a voice rang out with venom "Well, demigod? What do you have to say to the charges of being a traitor?" Perseus' eyes snapped around at the voice that spoke. It was so full of hatred for him, that he couldn't believe who it was that spoke, even as he met the sea-green orbs of his father as he finished the sentence.
Perseus stared at his father, not looking at the shocked faces of gods and demigods alike as they stared at Poseidon or Neptune for some of them. He stared and when he went to open his mouth, a smartass comment on his lips which he immediately stopped. Now wasn't the time.
Opening his mouth again he instead asked "What are the charges, father? I do not remember being told them?" He asked as the gods looked around the room, seeing many of the demigods' nod, even if they disliked him.
Zeus nodded his head slightly looking at the demigods around the throne room before standing. "Perseus Jackson," He boomed. "You are accused of leaving your post as a guardian of Camp Olympus. You have also been convicted and are being charged with the allowance of monsters into the camp boundary and the attack of an Olympian Goddess." Zeus declared.
Perseus looked at Zeus in shock, his brain working overtime as he thought about what this would mean for him if he was found guilty. "I plead not guilty to these charges. I have given my life to the protection of Olympus and my friends, do you truly think that I will turn my back on all of that now? I have a friend in the Apollo cabin right now that I need to know if she is alright." As soon as he finished, he turned ready to leave before the chains around his wrist stopped him in his tracks. When he looked down at the chains, his eyes flashed in anger as they rocketed towards Hephaestus and growled lowly before returning to the center of the room. "Alright, so I'm not going anywhere. Fine." He looked through the group of demigods before, finally meeting the eyes of a random Apollo camper. Sadly, he couldn't remember what the kid's name was. However, he thought that the kid liked him somewhat. "Hey, kid. You know anything about Clarisse? She took an arrow to her upper left shoulder. Just above, if not clipping, her heart. Is she alright?" He asked.
"She's fine, Jackson. Although, she may never be able to use her left arm again unless some miracle happens because of you." the kid bit out hatefully.
Percy's eyes widened as he looked at the child in shock. "What do you mean? What happened!?" The chained demigod roared, the chains binding him straining as his anger once again rose before it calmed down almost instantly. "Please, kid...what happened with Clarisse?" Most of the gods looked shocked that he cared for his rival so much and a few of the demigods did as well, especially the ones that had seen the two at each other's throats.
The Apollo kid glared at him even harder. "The arrow that hit her grazed her heart. She's stable right now but to get it out in time to save her we had to pull it out without checking what type it was. It turned out to be a barbed tip and it tore through several of the muscles and veins connecting the arm to the nervous system. It is nearly unresponsive to everything we do." The kid turned away from the demigod. The emotionless one is not a demigod that he would follow. Ever.
The Olympians started at Percy, who seemed ready to break down in tears. Before he did, however, stone seemed to cover his face and he looked back to the fourteen Olympians and asked quietly, "Can you help her...no that's not the right question. Will you help her?" He glared at the floor but he looked up when Zeus growled.
Annoyed with the change in topic Zeus growled "Perseus. You are here because you are believed to be the one that let the monsters into the camp, as well as abandoning your post. What do you have to say to this?"
Percy looked up at the figures of the Olympians seeing Zeus' and his father as well as several others glaring at him. Sadly, he realized that only Hestia, Hades, and... Artemis? He growled lowly, seeing that she seemed afraid for him. 'Stupid bitch'... he thought. 'If you didn't want me in this position, you shouldn't have brought me here.'
Finally, his eyes landed on the Seven. Or what was left as Jason was killed. All of them looked like they hated this, along with Reyna, Nico, and Thalia. But Annabeth, she looked conflicted as she looked at me then her eyes looked over into the crowd of demigods. Percy followed her gaze to a son of Apollo that he knew. The demigod looked back at her and smiled reassuringly, which seemed to make her relax immediately. He sighed softly, wondering how he could have let her slip away. But as he looked at Tony, the son of Apollo, he smiled sadly. At least she'll be happy after he's gone.
Sighing again to himself he looked towards Zeus before speaking. "Is there any reason for me to say anything, Zeus? This was rigged to be my downfall the second I was brought in, wasn't it? I'm not as stupid as I may act. This was designed to get me killed. But to humor you, Zeus, I will oblige. Yes, I abandoned my post. But If you look through Peleus' memories, you will see that I was at my assigned spot the entire time, up until that moment! I abandoned my post because the camp was under attack. I thought that it would be better to leave my post to help the camp instead of staying at my post and knowing that I could have saved someone. I mist traveled to the camp as fast as I could where I battled with all I had until Clarisse was hit. Then I sent her and Annabeth and the rest of the demigods outside back to camp as I slaughtered the enemy to the very last one before Artemis tried to sneak up on me. I had caught her and then made the mistake of turning my back, which is why I am now here on trial. Now, what was the punishment you had in mind for me Zeus, because we all know that I'm not going to be getting out of this without taking it."
Zeus looked at Perseus in shock before smiling wickedly at him "You will be banished to Tartarus, Perseus, for the rest of your life. When you fall the blade, Riptide will be returned to its rightful owner Heracles where it will be untainted by the foul smell of the sea. I will only allow this one reprieve for you as well as give you partial immortality. We will get great sport watching you as you battle for your life. Now, who all agrees that Perseus should be sent to Tartarus for the rest of his days?"
As soon as Zeus finished that question almost every hand except for his closest friends flew into the air. Percy looked around and noticed dejectedly that his father had even raised his hand and as he continued to look around the room he saw more and more hands rising until barely twenty were left down. Then finally, as he reached the seven he saw Annabeth's hand down and he smiled slightly knowing he could still trust her even though she cheated on him before that smile died as her hand slowly rose to freeze before climbing the rest of the way up into the air.
Watching Annabeth's hand raise like that was the last straw for Perseus, as what was left of his humanity seemed to shatter. Everyone in the Throne room saw it as his eyes slightly changed color before he fell to his knees. The room rumbled as his anger grew and the chains shook with his power. The veins in his body glowed again as he roared in agony, head-turning to Zeus as a feral snarl escaped his lips.
Growling lowly as he tried to regain control Perseus looked at Zeus. "What... what have you done to me, Zeus?" The demigod growled as he fell to his hands. He tried to push himself up but something wasn't right. His arms seemed a little bit stronger. His eyes locked on Zeus, who flinched slightly at the sight before he growled louder than before "What have you done to ME!?"
Zeus flinched again before he glared. "I have done nothing to you, boy. You are allowed five minutes to say goodbye to those who still care about you then most of the gods flashed out as the demigods left, besides the seven, Nico, Thalia, and Reyna.
As Percy slowly got his anger under control he turned to his friends. He took a few steadying breaths before trying to stand again feeling the muscles in his arm coil before launching himself to his feet. Once standing again Percy smiled at the few friends that he still had.
When he went to walk over to them he was stopped by the thick chains holding him to the ground. His anger flared again as his veins glowed the murky blackish-golden color and his eyes glowed a poisonous green. Percy looked down before the chains snapped like toothpicks at the base and then whipped across the room with an extension of his arm before he pulled them back. "Hmmm. These will do. I will need to practice though, a lot of practice." Then he wrapped them around him before tying them to each other on his back leaving just enough room to move comfortably and still protect himself. Finally, he moved over to his friends as they moved to him.
Percy wrapped as many of them in a hug as he could before pulling Thalia and Nico to him on their own. Looking at them he smiled a sad smile "You two are truly the only family that I care for. there will always be a special place in my heart for you two." Looking at the rest of the group he smiled "These seven demigods.. you're my family. Take care of each other and don't let each other's sacrifice be in vain if they have to be made. When I am out I will find you all and we are going to go get drunk. Or as drunk as our high metabolism will allow us before they burn through the buzz... huh that's almost like Barry Allen in the Flash" Percy chuckled along with everyone else at the reference before he turned serious. "Always have each other's backs. Tell Clarisse what happened and Chris as I doubt he'd be here as he cares far too much for Clarisse to even bother coming to the council meeting. Hey- Nico, what's wrong?" Percy asked as he looked at the son of Hades.
Nico looked at Percy and sighed "Chris died in the attack. When the monsters made it in, he was the first to notice and called the alarm. It was the only reason anyone even got the young demigods away from the battle. But since Chris was the only one ready to start-" Nico was interrupted by Percy who understood where it was going.
"He was torn apart by the monsters. Alright tell Clarisse I'm sorry for not being fast enough, for not noticing the-" Again, Percy was stopped mid speaking when a lightning-covered fist hit him in the ribs, followed by a shadow-covered knee to the head, and finally a flaming ball to the chest.
"That wasn't your fault, Percy!" Nico, Thalia, and Leo yelled at the same time. Percy just stared at them before smiling sadly and speaking again.
"Sadly it was, as I was the one on guard duty. But anyway, protect her. She may not want it, but until her arm is better she will need it. Don't fail me in this. Please." He pleaded with them as they all nodded.
He smiled and looked behind him, seeing Artemis, Hades, and Hestia. As they looked at him, he opened his arms smiling as Hestia buried her head in his shoulder crying. He patted her back as he stared at Hades, who simply nodded before saying "I would like to give you my blessing, Perseus. It won't be much, just the power to shadow travel and call shadows to you, but it should help." Percy nodded his thanks as Artemis stepped up.
"As would I, Perseus. I've heard you need drastic help with a bow." Artemis said with a snicker. Percy however just stared at her, leaving many of the people around him to worry. But, Hestia still buried in his shoulder mumbled something through her tears.
Percy just stared down at her and asked: "What was that milady?" Hestia's head immediately snapped up as her hand hit him in the gut
"Don't take your anger out on her. She was forced to do it by Zeus. He threatened her Hunters. And I would like to offer you my blessing as well." she said as her glare softened. Percy just nodded, still trying to stand up straight. After all, a god can still hit a lot harder than any monster can.
As the gods took turns with their blessings, Percy had to clench his teeth as the pain struck him and made him double over. His powers going haywire as they tried to adjust to the overload in his veins once again. With the ichor in his veins, his eyes and skin started to glow black and gold again. When it stopped, his breathing was heavy and he was on a knee. Slowly, he stood up and looked at his friends again, smiling slightly. Her blonde curls shook as she was hunched over in her seat, not even having the strength to leave the room. Sighing, Perseus started to walk over, before thinking better of it and turning around. He said his final goodbyes as the throne room started to fill with people again.
Zeus flashed back into his throne with the rest of the gods. Immediately he looked at Perseus. "Are you ready for Tartarus, demigod?" Zeus said smugly, an insult on his tongue as he waited for Perseus to say something insulting to him and the other gods. He was shocked, however, when the demigod just nodded. Zeus started before looking at Ares, who nodded and stood up as the chasm to Tartarus was opened in the middle of the throne room. He was ready to send the little punk to Tartarus. Suddenly, the chains around his arms lashed out, sending Ares into Zeus.
The gods flinched back before reading their weapons, only to watch as Perseus dropped into the hole and disappeared into the pit.
Several days later Tartarus(Kelli)
'Stupid Hyperion. Making me march through this pit. Making me look for this stupid demigod. Oh, why does he hate me so? Now, I have to trudge through this stupid pit, watching every entrance just to maybe find a stupid demigod. Of all things! A demigod!' Kelli raged to herself. But as her group of scouts stopped a whistling sound was heard.
Looking around they couldn't find any threats, so Kelli started to look up. She immediately spotted a small human-like shape falling toward them. Kelli tried to scream for her sisters to move, but could only watch in horror as the falling object crashed into the small group of empousa. Immediately bloody chunks flew from the cloud that encased the area. Multiple slamming into her body and covering her in their black ichor.
Her eyes moved back up looking through the cloud, where they met poisonous sea-green eyes.
