After the Attack

The Lookout was on high alert.

After Gideon's men breached their defenses in an attempt to take Marshall, the team wasn't taking any chances.

•Chase and Rocky reinforced the security systems, checking and double-checking every inch of the perimeter.

•Skye flew constant patrols over Adventure Bay, scanning for anything unusual.

•Marshall trained harder than ever, pushing himself to master his fire powers.

But despite all their efforts, something felt wrong.

It wasn't over.

Ryder knew it.

Gideon wasn't the kind of enemy to strike once and walk away.

He was studying them. Learning. Waiting.

And the worst part?

They were running out of time.

A Stranger Appears

That evening, as the sun bled into the horizon, a faint knock echoed through the Lookout's front door.

The pups froze.

Chase reacted first, stepping forward, ears up, body tense. "No one should be out here this late."

Ryder lifted a hand, stopping him. "Stay back. I'll handle it."

He moved cautiously, pressing the button to check the external camera feed.

A figure stood at the entrance. Hooded. Half-hidden in the shadows.

Not one of Gideon's men.

Not someone Ryder recognized.

But something about them felt… off.

His fingers hovered over the security lock.

"Who are you?" Ryder's voice was firm, unwavering.

The figure tilted their head slightly. "I'm here to warn you."

A cold weight settled in Ryder's chest.

"Warn us about what?"

The figure let out a slow breath. "About Gideon."

A Risky Decision

Chase growled low in his throat. "This could be a trap."

Marshall shifted uneasily. "Or… it could be real."

Ryder hesitated.

If this was a setup, they'd be ready.

If it wasn't…

He exhaled, pressed the button, and unlocked the door.

The figure stepped inside, his movements slow, deliberate. As the door sealed behind him, he pushed back his hood.

A man stood before them—mid-thirties, sharp features, piercing dark eyes. A long scar ran down his cheek. His clothes were worn, his face shadowed with exhaustion.

Someone who had been on the run.

Ryder folded his arms. "Who are you?"

The man hesitated before answering.

"My name is Silas. And I used to work for Gideon."

The Truth About Gideon

Silas scanned the room, his gaze lingering on each pup before locking onto Ryder.

"I know Gideon better than anyone," he said. "And if you don't stop him now, you're going to lose everything."

Ryder's eyes narrowed. "Why should we believe you?"

Silas's expression darkened. "Because I made the mistake of believing in him once. And it nearly cost me my life."

Silence settled over the room.

Finally, Ryder spoke. "What does he want with us?"

Silas didn't answer immediately. Instead, his gaze flickered toward Marshall.

Not at him. Through him.

"Not you," he said grimly. "Him."

Marshall stiffened, his tail lowering.

Silas took a step closer, his expression unwavering.

"Gideon sees power as a tool. He doesn't care about people—he cares about control. And your pup here?" He gestured to Marshall. "He's the most valuable thing Gideon has ever seen."

Ryder's fists clenched. "He's not a thing."

Silas nodded. "I know that. But Gideon doesn't."

Gideon's Plan

Chase stepped forward, his voice sharp. "If Gideon wants Marshall, then why hasn't he come for him himself?"

Silas exhaled. "Because Gideon doesn't take risks. He studies his enemies. Watches them. Waits until he knows exactly how to break them before making his move."

Rocky's ears twitched. "So… you're saying the attack on the Lookout wasn't his real attempt?"

Silas shook his head. "No. That was a test. He wanted to see how you'd react. How well you'd protect Marshall. And now?"

His expression darkened.

"Now, he's planning his next move."

Marshall swallowed hard. "What does he want to do to me?"

Silas hesitated before answering.

"He wants to make you his."

A chill passed through the room.

Zuma's ears flattened. "Dude… what does that mean?"

Silas turned back to Ryder. "Gideon has a way of… convincing people to work for him. It starts with doubts. Fear. Isolation. He'll make Marshall believe he's too dangerous for his own team. He'll make him question everything he is."

Marshall's chest tightened.

Silas's voice was quiet, but firm. "And when Marshall is at his lowest? When he's scared and alone?"

His next words were ice-cold.

"That's when Gideon will offer him a way out. A choice."

Skye's fur bristled. "But Marshall would never join him!"

Silas's gaze sharpened. "Don't be so sure. Gideon is a master manipulator. And if Marshall starts believing that he's a danger to you all…"

He let the thought hang.

Ryder's stomach twisted.

Marshall wouldn't fall for it.

Would he?

A Choice to Make

Silas turned to Ryder. "That's why I came here. To warn you."

Chase's expression was skeptical. "Why help us?"

Silas hesitated. Then, his voice softened. "Because I know what it's like to be used. And I know what it's like to lose yourself."

His gaze met Marshall's. "And I don't want him to go through what I did."

Silence stretched between them.

Ryder exhaled, steadying himself. "So how do we stop Gideon before he gets the chance?"

Silas's jaw tightened.

"There's only one way," he said. "We have to take the fight to him."

Ryder's breath caught. "You mean—go after him?"

Silas nodded. "We find out where he is. We take away his advantage. We end this before he can make his move."

The pups exchanged uneasy glances.

Zuma's tail flicked. "Dude, that sounds… really dangerous."

Rocky frowned. "But if we just sit here, Gideon will attack again."

Skye's pink eyes hardened. "So we have to do something."

Marshall clenched his paws. "I'm tired of being afraid. If Gideon wants me? Then I say we show him that I'm not running."

Chase turned to Ryder. "What do we do?"

Ryder looked around at his team.

They weren't just scared.

They were ready.

He exhaled slowly.

"Then let's find Gideon
