Chapter 46: The Saiyan and the Kryptonians
The weight of disbelief hung heavy in the air.
Zor-El and Alura stood motionless, their expressions frozen in a mix of shock, confusion, and sheer refusal to accept what they had just heard.
Their daughter—their Kara—was standing before them, completely serious as she declared that this Saiyan was her husband.
The very idea was unthinkable.
For a long moment, no one spoke.
Then, Kara inhaled deeply, steadying herself.
"I know exactly what you're thinking," she said, her voice measured. "Because I thought the same thing."
Her parents' eyes narrowed slightly, as if waiting for an explanation.
Kara met their gazes head-on. "When I first landed on Earth, I saw his tail… and I attacked him."
Alura's breath hitched. Zor-El's frown deepened.
Goku chuckled awkwardly, rubbing the back of his head. "Yep. That happened."
Alura looked at her daughter, startled. "You fought?"
Kara nodded. "For a while. I was so sure he was a threat." She let out a soft, almost amused sigh, shaking her head at the memory. "And then Bulma happened."
Zor-El and Alura exchanged puzzled glances. "Bulma?"
Kara smirked. "A scientist. An Earthling. She walked right up to us in the middle of our fight and told us to stop acting like children before we destroyed everything."
Zor-El's brows furrowed. "And he just… stopped?"
Kara nodded. "Yeah. And then he caught a giant fish and cooked it for us."
Alura's lips parted slightly in surprise. "He… cooked?"
Kara nodded. "I tried to kill him, and the first thing he thought of was making sure we all had something to eat."
Goku grinned. "Well, I was hungry."
Kara rolled her eyes but smiled fondly. "That was the moment I started to question everything I'd been taught about Saiyans. Because Goku? He wasn't some ruthless warrior. He was just… a kind, selfless kid."
She glanced at Goku, her gaze softening. "To be honest, he still kind of is."
Goku pouted slightly. "Hey, I've matured a lot since then!"
Kara smirked. "Debatable."
Despite the seriousness of the moment, Alura couldn't help but notice the way Kara looked at Goku—the affection, the certainty.
But Zor-El? He wasn't swayed so easily.
"Even if that's true," he said, his voice sharp, "you can't ignore what the Saiyans have done. They were conquerors! They—"
"They're gone," Kara interrupted firmly.
Zor-El stiffened.
Kara's voice softened. "Frieza wiped them all out. The entire Saiyan race was exterminated, along with their homeworld."
Alura gasped. "What?"
Kara nodded. "Only two full-blooded Saiyans remain. And they both live here, on Earth."
Zor-El's fists clenched. "Who?"
Goku raised a hand sheepishly. "Uh… me?"
Kara nodded. "And Vegeta."
Zor-El's expression darkened. "Vegeta… King Vegeta?"
Kara shook her head. "No. His son."
Alura and Zor-El exchanged looks of pure disbelief.
Goku took a breath, stepping forward slightly. "Look, I get it. You don't trust me. And yeah, I do like fighting—"
Zor-El's eyes narrowed dangerously. "So you admit it!"
"But I don't fight to hurt people," Goku said simply, his voice sincere. "I fight to challenge myself. To get stronger. But never to destroy."
Kara turned to her parents, her tone shifting into something fiercely protective. "Goku has saved this planet more times than I can count. He's risked his life for people he doesn't even know. If it weren't for him, Earth would have been destroyed years ago."
Zor-El stared at her, his face a mask of doubt.
Kara took a breath. "You want to talk about Saiyans? He's the one who defeated Frieza."
Alura and Zor-El froze completely.
The words hit like a meteorite.
Alura's voice came out as a whisper. "He… defeated Frieza?"
Kara nodded. "On a planet called Namek. It was a battle that nearly destroyed everything. And Goku? He didn't fight for himself. He fought to protect innocent lives."
Zor-El took a staggered step back, as if trying to process the information.
Kara took another step forward, her voice pleading. "You've spent your whole lives fearing Saiyans because of what they were. But have you ever stopped to wonder what they could have been if someone like Goku had led them instead?"
Zor-El looked completely lost for the first time.
Alura, however… was listening now.
Kara took a slow breath, lowering her guard slightly. "I know this isn't what you expected. I know it's a lot to take in."
Her expression softened, her tone shifting from defensive to gentle.
"But I am alive. I have a home. I have a family."
She swallowed the lump in her throat, tears forming in her eyes. "And I want you to meet them."
Alura's expression wavered, as if something in her heart had cracked open.
Zor-El remained silent, his emotions unreadable.
Then, after a long pause, Alura took a step forward and reached for Kara's hands.
Her grip was warm, trembling slightly, but her voice was firm.
"We want to meet them."
Zor-El's shoulders tensed, his jaw clenching… but he said nothing.
For now.
But Kara knew—it was a start.
To be continued...
