Trydan's interview: It's really hard to guess who's voting for who. Most of us just have one or two people everyone knows we aren't voting for. I think Kallik and Val are still sticking together. I'm pretty sure Leo always votes for someone he thinks doesn't have enough votes to be in danger. I don't want to vote for Shep because he's pretty cool. It's a mess.
Trydan's interview, edited: It's really hard that Shep is in danger. Most of us think he's pretty cool.
Lana's interview, unedited: Oh my gosh, I love our house! It's so warm when we're all in there! And next time it rains, we won't get wet!
Leo's interview, unedited: Honestly, don't ask me about voting. I've never once guessed right who was gonna go.
Shep's interview, unedited: I hear when the merge happens there's a big food giveaway. Gosh, I hope that's true. I'm so hungry. I'm tired of rice.
Enzo's interview, unedited: Our house is a dugout. I read a book once about a girl who lived in a dugout house and a cow went on the roof and its foot punched through into the kitchen.
Kallik- District Two female (18)
It was so morbid how tribal council happened after sunset. Every time we'd sit around the fire watching the sun sink, feeling the ominous symbolism about whichever of us it would be. Then darkness fell and we rose to walk into the night.
"It's definitely it," Val said again. "After this it's the merge."
"How would you know?" Trydan asked. Stones crunched under my feet as I walked just ahead of them. Twilight cast spooky shadows between the trees. I wondered who among us was still afraid of the dark.
"Octavia did a ton of studying during training," Val said. "She said it's usually from eight to fourteen people at the merge. Of course it will be an even number, since people like even numbers. The Capitol's going to want to merge early since there's more drama when everyone's on one tribe. And there's thirteen of us now."
"Thirteen people. Like a coven," Shep said. I didn't look back to see if he looked as creepy as he sounded.
"You sound like Taylor," Leo joked.
It was a relief to see the lights of the tribal council area. Onscreen it would just be the torches, but off to the side there were a bunch of stage lights and floodlights for the camera crew.
"Good evening, Huldra. Time for yet another tribal council," Isabella said.
"Wow, you don't have to roast us like that," Yarrow commented.
"It's been a hard run for you," Isabella agreed. "Has it made these councils any easier?"
"No."
"Not really."
"No, still sucks."
"Any resentment toward Ellekoner?" Isabella asked.
"It's not really their fault. The Gamemakers put together the teams without knowing much about us. They just got the luck of the draw," Leo said.
"Yeah, I mean, I wish it was me, but I can't be mad they want to win, too," Yarrow said.
"Any weak links on the team?" Isabella fished.
"We decided Yarrow was going to be the sound bite this week," Trydan said as Yarrow raised her hand in a V-sign. "A lot of us feel like Yarrow didn't perform in the last challenge."
"Whatever. Plenty of us struggled," Yarrow pretended back. The Gamemakers could go ahead and stitch together more quotes and edit the challenge footage to skip Yarrow's bits.
If Isabella had only known how very scattered we were, she could have gotten plenty of quotes. We all sat nervously as one vote after another was cast. There wasn't a person in the benches who wasn't thinking it just might be their day.
"If anyone has an immunity idol they want to play, now is the time to do so," Isabella said. We'd talked about it at camp ad nauseum, but nothing had come out.
"Once the votes are read, the decision is final," Isabella said. She took the first vote. "Trydan."
Trydan stiffened.
"Kallik." At the sound of my own name, I felt my heart jerk. Did they finally do it? The merge is coming so they're getting rid of a "strong" one?
"That's one vote Kallik, one vote Trydan," Isabella continued. She picked another. "Yarrow."
Yarrow scowled.
"Trydan," Isabella read. "That's two votes Trydan, one vote Kallik, one vote Yarrow, two votes left."
We all sat leaned forward on the bench, looking at the paper like we could see through it. Two was enough for any of us to tie. It was just like the Gamemakers to leave two matching votes to the end.
"Twelfth-" My heart jerked again, this time in relief. Everyone sat back on the bench"-eliminated from Survivor: Trydan."
Trydan was unemotional as he rose. He gave his torch a last look as he picked it up, then held it out to Isabella. He gave us a wave and walked off.
Trydan's final interview: Right now I'm weirdly relieved. It was so stressful being afraid every council. I'm sure I'll be sad once it sinks in. I got a lot of money to bring home, though, and what an experience! I have a lot to be thankful for.
Twelfth eliminated: Trydan Briod
I knew Trydan's number was coming up from the voting patterns recently (especially last week- RIP Taylor) so I let Huldra lose this time to see if last week was a fluke or if he'd get it again and thus kinda should have gone last time, though I'm happy I could give him a bonus week by scuttling Taylor. Sure enough, he got the votes this time, too. The votes were scant, which is unfortunate (Yarrow's was actually a bogus vote I added for suspense) but Huldra never did vote consistently. Trydan could have been a target from the start, with his brains and fussiness, but the others took to him pretty well. He did get a good payout, though, and he's still got strong in the LCS story
