Location: Darkness 60
The first thing in the morning the pair of Uni and Brin made their way through the dungeon while avoiding every unnecessary battle
"It seems like a good nights sleep helped you get your head together" Brin comments idly
Uni huffed and turned her head away from Brin with a blush on her face
Much to the Blue haired knight's amusement
Brin chuckles, "relax, if you're that bothered by it I'll make sure to keep it between us~" she says with a sing-a-sing tone of voice
Why? Because she's one of Nepgear's familiars, and attributes of herself that she's long since grown out of, has gone to her familiars at varying degrees through their connection
One such attribute that Brin gained was Nepgear's once love for Uni's tsundereness, sure Nepgear still has an appeal for it but it's more for her amusement rather than something she'd search for in a love interest
(Am I, the author, shipping Uni with Brin? Probably, but there's a reason for it that you, the audience, will find out about later down the line so feel free to drop your guesses in reviews or comments)
AHEM* anyways~
Uni, now essentially steaming out of her ears, just starts walking faster as if to get away from Brin
Not that it did much, the Blue haired girl is rather speedy afterall
Very deep into the dungeon the pair finds an ancient dragon that was sleeping
It was coiled around a whole lot of precious gems, on the top of all the precious gems is the treasure gem that they're searching for
"There it is" Uni whispers to her companion
Brin hums, "we should be careful, it'll wake up once we get close" she says, "make sure you're ready before we approach it"
Uni nods and takes a deep breath to calm herself before she gives the Blue haired knight the all clear to approach the sleeping beast
It was tense as they approached the sleeping ancient dragon
But much like the bluenette had said earlier, once they got within a certain range of it, the dragon's eyes snaps open
It gets up and lets out a mighty roar
"It's coming" Brin says as she prepares to strike the beast, "cover me"
Uni nods and enter HDD and aims her railgun at the beast, ready to fire at a moment's notice
'i see, so lady Nepgear was right' Brin thinks to herself, 'at this point in time Uni and the others were far too reliant on the HDD' she suppressed a grimace, 'as they are, they wouldn't last a day of what she's gone through'
Regardless, now's not the time to think on how to deal with that particular can of worms
"Geryon inferno" Brin declares as she slashes upwards sending a swirling inferno of blue flames at the ancient dragon
The beast jumps away, but it's not fast enough as the blue inferno claims it's right arm and part of its tail
Uni, seeing an opening, takes aim and "EX Multi blaster" she declares as she fires a beam of energy at the evading beast
Hitting it directly on its chest, but it didn't seem all that bothered
"It's hide is much thicker than a regular ancient dragon, especially on its underbelly where it's typically much softer" Brin says to the candidate
"Oh…" there wasn't really a lot that she could say to that piece of information
All that told her was that she just needs to hit it a lot more than what would otherwise be necessary
It took less time than Uni thought that it would take but they have defeated the ancient dragon and gained the treasure gem
"Yes! We did it!" Uni exclaimed in her excitement after having returned to her human form
"Treasure gem down, just the hematite crystal to go" Brin says with a small amused smile, "by the time we get to Lastation my companions should have it located"
"Even if they do, you losers aren't going to get it" came the tomboyish voice of our favourite girl failure
"You're an unbearably persistent underling, you know that" Brin says dryly
"I suppose no matter the occupation, all the underlings have to do the manual labour" Uni says off handedly much to Linda's increasing annoyance and anger
Linda growls, "oh I'm SOOO fucking sorry for who I am" She clicks her tongue, "not that it'll matter once im done with you" she dramatically snaps her fingers, "come on out my secret weapon!"
"Congratulations, you learnt that little minions like you need to attack en masse" Brin says dryly while giving a series of slow taunting claps
"Let's finish this quickly" Uni says as she tries to transform into her HDD only for it to fail, "what…?"
Linda laughs, "did you think I wouldn't be prepared for your cheats? These monsters seals your ability to transform" she gives them a dark grin, "lets see you win now!"
"Easily" Brin says as she twirls her sword a couple of time before shouldering it
"Hey, stop right there!" a sudden yell caused all three to look towards the shouter
The individual that yelled is a young girl with a short stature and childlike physique and a very well-endowed chest. She has fair skin and black eyes as well as bright red hair that at some parts fade to white with some of it from the left side of head worn in a fashion similar to a side of a tied ribbon that is held by a black ribbon with yellow beads on the end.
She wears a dark grey and black, collared, sleeveless vest with gold trimming and red stitching. On the top back of her vest is a red circular-like logo, on her chest is a golden trimmed, light blue Magatama. A smaller version of the Magatama is also behind the bottom of the back of her vest
On her arms she wears red detached sleeves with cherry blossom flower patterns and has a black, on the top of her sleeves are black frills, and at the near bottom end are golden five-petaled patterns with golden linings at the top and bottom of the patterns
There is also a scaly, golden Chinese dragon with red eyes, wrapped once around her belly area with its head resting on her shoulder
She also wears a golden trimmed, red skirt designed like it's separated into five large petal-shaped sections, the skirt contains cherry blossom flower patterns similar to her sleeves.
She also wears black tight shorts with red linings at the bottom on her ankles are red, textile ankle cuffs with cherry blossom patterns similar to her sleeves and skirt
On her feet are short black socks that only reach through her ankle cuffs. On her feet are red getas with light brown wooden bases and a Magatama, similar to the ones on her chest, on the straps on each side.
"Who the hell are you!?" Linda demanded
"How dare you threaten such cute girls like that!" the red haired girl says loudly while dramatically pointing at the Underling
"...huh…?" "pardon…?" came Uni and Brin's respective flat voiced reactions to the still unnamed girl's declaration
"I've been looking for you my Wifey candidates~" the redhead said said to the ravenette CPU candidate and the Bluenette knight with a sweet smile before she goes back to pointing dramatically at Linda, "so if you make any funny moves, you'll meet the wrath of RED!"
Uni, Brin AND Linda were all stunned to silence by the absurdity of the girl's statements
"What…the…hell…? Does…she have screws loose?" Linda asks with confusion evident on her face, she shakes her head, "whatever, GET THEM!"
RED pulled out her weapon, which happens to be a large yoyo, "take this roboty!" and whacks one of the bots, then a second time with a spin and a final time afterwards destroying the robot in question
"Not bad" Brin says as she walks forward, "but you lack finesse, now stand still" as soon as she said the words 'stand still', a bubble of magic covered the area and slowing down everything and everyone within it except for Brin herself
And within seconds the Bluenette has carved through the remaining bots and presses her blade against Linda's neck before the magic bubble was pulled back into her body
Location: Planeptune
The trio 'escorted' ASIC underling, Linda, to the Planeptunian police department and had her processed (again in Brin's case)
"RED" Brin says, now that they're done with dealing with Linda for the time being
"Yesy" the redhead says with a grin
"Mind getting us some ice cream?" she asks while handing the redhead some credits, "Blue-raspberry swirl for me and a dark chocolate delight for Uni"
RED blinks but takes the credits "oh, er, sure!" she bounces off to the ice cream parlor across the street
"You froze" Brin says plainly to Uni now that RED was out of earshot
"I… I'm sorry" Uni says with a quiver in her voice
'Oh gods, it sounds like she's about to cry' Brin thinks as she takes a deep breath, "it's not your fault", she says evenly, "i'm just pointing this out to tell you that i think that you maybe too reliant on your HDD"
"W-what do you mean…?" Uni says with a sniff
Brin gently puts her hand on the ravenette's head "think back" she speaks softly, "did you really need to go into HDD against the ancient dragon?"
"...maybe not?"
"Is that a question or an answer?" Brin asks with a shake of her head, "right now, you're too reliant on your HDD" she pulled Uni into a side hug, "that's most likely why you froze"
Uni looks down but doesn't say anything
"HDD is a great tool" Brin says, "but at the end of the day that's all it is, a tool in your arsenal"
Brin squeezes Uni's shoulder, "getting reliant on a tool is a great way to get stagnant"
"Then how do I get stronger?" Uni asks softly
"Training and experience is the best way to do that" the bluenette says while looking at the ravenette
Brin looks up, "you might want to make yourself presentable, looks like RED's done getting our ice cream"
"So what's the plan now?" RED asks as the trio makes their way out of Planeptune
"Back to Lastation" Brin says, "I'll need to check in with Magi about the Hematite crystal"
"So getting the Hematite crystal will be tomorrow?" Uni asks
Brin nods, "if you're up for it we'll meet up with you at the guild to say… 9-ish?"
Uni nods
