Episode 430: Tag! We're It Part 2
Last time, it was after Sora has retrieved the Relic Badge from Fantina and Kairi has won her Contest Ribbon in the Hearthome City Pokémon Contest, so Zoey suggested that Sora, Lucas, and Dawn all enter the Tag Battle Tournament to help lift her battle spirits, so Sora and Lucas were quick to take Zoey up on her suggestion as they meet up with Dawn and she accepts to take part of the tournament. The first step was find their tag battle partners. Sora's partner was much to his delight Yugi Muto. Dawn was paired with an eccentric but strategic Trainer named Conway as Lucas was paired with Paul, much to his dismay. Paul shared Lucas's dismay as well. Working well with their partners, Sora, Dawn, Yugi, and Conway managed to win their first battle as Lucas and Paul managed to win it, but Paul preferred to do things his own way. Now the first round has been concluded, so the next series of battles were underway.
Sora is doing some sparring with Mai as she has a Vespiquen and all three forms of Wormadam. Sora had his Piplup going against Vespiquen.
"You ready to go, Piplup?" Sora asked.
"Piplup," Piplup nodded.
"Thought so," Sora said.
"Vespiquen! Begin with Slash!" Mai ordered. Vespiquen came for the Penguin Pokémon with Slash.
"Okay, Piplup! Dodge and use Peck!" Sora ordered. Piplup dodges Vespiquen's Slash and lands a Peck on the Beehive Pokémon. "Great job! Hydro Pump!"
"Defend Order!" Mai ordered. Vespiquen forms a yellow barrier and Piplup's Hydro Pump bounces off. "Come at Piplup with Slash again!"
"Dodge!" Sora called out. Piplup tried to dodge Vespiquen's attack, she came too fast for him to dodge and he's hit hard by it.
"Use Attack Order!" Mai ordered. Vespiquen sends out bee-like projectiles right at Piplup. The Penguin Pokémon is hit hard as Piplup fell on his face. Piplup refuses to stay down as Piplup started to evolve.
"Look at that," Joey said.
"Piplup's evolving," Téa said. Piplup had evolved into a Prinplup, much to Sora's joy.
"Way to go, Prinplup! You evolved!" Sora said.
"Prinplup," the newly evolved Prinplup said.
"And since you evolved, that means you have a new move under your belt, so Metal Claw!" Sora ordered. Prinplup came at Vespiquin with a Metal Claw.
"Dodge it, Vespiquen!" Mai called out. Vespiquen tried to dodge Prinplup's attack, but the newly evolved Penguin Pokémon came too fast for Vespiquen to dodge in time.
"That's fast," Serenity said.
"If Prinplup is that fast on land, then I'm wondering how fast Prinplup can be underwater," Bakura said.
"That's enough, Vespiquen," Mai said. She looked right at Prinplup. "I gotta hand it to you, Sora. Your Piplup evolving caught me by surprise. But what other surprises can your other Sinnoh Pokémon can have?"
"Well, let's find out together, right?" Sora asked.
"Right," Mai agreed. She looked at her Plant Cloak Wormadam. "You go in." The Plant Cloak Wormadam stepped in, ready to go. Sora took out his next Pokéball and threw it.
"Snover! Go!" Sora called out. His Pokéball opened and Snover came out.
"A Snover?" Joey asked.
"Snover's an Ice-type Pokémon, so it's a good match-up against Mai's Plant Cloak Wormadam," Duke said.
"You can have the first move," Mai said.
"Snover! Powder Snow!" Sora ordered. Snover blew a Powder Snow right at the Plant Cloak Wormadam.
"Protect!" Mai ordered. The Plant Cloak Wormadam creates a protective barrier and Powder Snow bounces off. "Use Energy Ball!" The Plant Cloak Wormadam fired Energy Ball right at the Frost Tree Pokémon.
"Dodge and use Ice Punch!" Sora called out. Snover dodges her Energy Ball and lands an icy punch. "That's the way, Snover! Razor Leaf!" Snover fired a Razor Leaf and sends it right at the Plant Cloak Wormadam.
"Protect!" Mai ordered. Wormadam forms a protective barrier to block out Snover's Razor Leaf. "Now, use your own Razor Leaf!" The Plant Cloak Wormadam unleashed her own Razor Leaf and sends it right at Snover.
"Powder Snow to block!" Sora ordered. Snover uses his Powder Snow to block and freeze the Plant Cloak Wormadam's Razor Leaf.
"That wasn't bad. Your Snover has some spunk," Mai said.
"Thanks. Your Wormadam and Vespiquen are the same way. And I think I have an idea on which one on I'll use in our next battle," Sora said.
"You think you're going to send in your Snover for this?" Téa asked.
"Why not? If Mai sent out the Trash Cloak Wormadam, Snover would have been at a disadvantage. Mai would have had her use a Steel-type move against Snover and that would have given him a lot of damage," Yugi said.
"You have a point, Yugi," Téa said.
"Anyway, Sora, I know you're going to do great out there tomorrow," Yugi said.
"Same with you, Yugi," Sora said as he fist bumped.
Meanwhile, Arthur is making contact with his mother.
"Hello, Arthur. How's everything in Sinnoh? I hope Ben is training you well," Padgette asked.
"Everything is going okay, mom. Sinnoh is amazing," Arthur said.
"Where are you right now?" Padgett asked.
"I'm in Hearthome City. Sora won his third Gym battle against the Gym Leader here and Kairi won her third Contest Ribbon, so Sora is competing in the Tag Battle tournament in Hearthome City. He and his partner already won their first battle as a team," Arthur said.
"That's wonderful. It's no surprise to me since your cousin is a skilled Pokémon Trainer," Padgette said.
"Yeah, he did win the Indigo Plateau, along with the Johto and Hoenn Pokémon Leagues, and the Pokémon Stadium Cup," Arthur said.
"Well, Keep on rooting for your cousin, Arthur. I know Lily and I will," Padgette said.
"I will, mom," Arthur said.
"Anyway, I should go. Something important came up. Love you," Padgette said.
"Love you, too," Arthur said as he and Pagette broke contact.
Meanwhile, in the Pokémon Center, a lot of Trainers had their Pokéballs presented to the young nurse.
"Thanks for the help, Nurse Joy!" The many Trainers said.
"Well, that's what I'm here for," Nurse Joy said, smiling. She sighed. "These Tag Battle Tournament openings are very busy. This is going to be quite a challenge," Nurse Joy said. Joe approached Nurse Joy.
"Nurse Joy, if it's okay, I would like to volunteer my assistance anyway I can, since I'm studying to be a Pokémon doctor," Joe said.
"Um, who are you?" Nurse Joy asked.
"My name's Joe Kido. It may make it easier for you when you have some additional help," Joe offered.
"In that case, I'd love for you to help me," Nurse Joy said.
"Chansey," Chansey said.
"Thank you, Nurse Joy," Joe said.
The rest of the DigiDestined, all except for Izzy, weren't surprised to see Joe volunteering to assist with the injured Pokémon.
"Good ol' reliable Joe," Tai said.
"Hey, where's Izzy?' Mimi asked.
"He's in a chat with an internet friend of his," Tai said.
Speaking of which, Izzy is indeed in a chat with Rebecca. Her profile picture is displayed as she is sitting on top of her Metagross.
"Anything from your end?" Izzy asked.
"Things have been pretty quiet around here ever since your recent escapades in the Digital World. No further signs of Digimon have been reported so far. Hypnos and DATS haven't been finding any other signs of any activities in the Digital World either. But I'm keeping a much closer eye on it just in case there's some clues I missed," Rebecca said.
"I knew I could count on you, Rebecca. It's nice to know there's someone I can really talk to about these sort of matters with the same skills as me. After what the Dark Masters and the Demon Lords almost did, we can't afford to overlook anything related to the Digimon in case something like this happens again," Izzy said.
"I agree. I'll let you know when I find anything else," Rebecca said, breaking contact.
"Please, do," Izzy said.
Meanwhile, Paul is doing his own training with his Pokémon consisting of Torterra, Elekid, Ursaring, Murkrow, Gyarados, and Weavile. He was hoping he would battle Sora next. Lucas was doing his own training with Monferno, Staravia, Grotle, Aipom, Shinx, and Onix. As they trained, Shinx then evolved into a Luxio. Lucas knew who he was using for the next battle.
Meanwhile, Dawn is being treated to a drink by Conway as he gives his words of wisdom to Dawn.
"So, a Pokémon's potential ability is greatly influenced by the quality of the relationship with its Trainer which is evidence by otherwise unthinkable displays of power in their moves and abilities," Conway said.
"Sounds great. Although, i don't have much of a clue of what you just said. Although, it does sound like the better Pokémon and Trainers are friends, the stronger they get, right?" Dawn asked.
"Yes, precisely. See? You do get it. And remember, this applies to Contests, too," Conway said, taking off his glasses to clean them.
"Friendship, that's the key," Dawn said. She looked right at her partner and smiled. "I gotta pass this one to Lucas." Conway still sat in his seat as he continued to clean his glasses.
"Of course, no matter how you look at it, Lucas is the enemy. The same can be said for Sora, Yugi, and Paul," Conway said, laughing.
On the very next day, the group have returned to the stadium as the Tag Battle Tournament continued. During the first battle of the second round, Dawn and Conway has taken down a pair of Trainers with a Tauros and a Granbull with Pachirisu and an Aggron.
"It's Tag Battle day two! With a sizzling second round! We've had 24 hours for our teams to get comfortable and really lock in sync! And I can gurantee this audience that both Trainers and Pokémon will be pushing each other to even greater heights! Up next is our next battle! Choose your Pokémon and come out battling!" Enta announced as Sora and Yugi took out their Pokéballs. The Trainers they were up against is a boy wearing a blue baseball cap and a man a mustache.
"Go right in, Toxicroak!" The man called out.
"I choose you, Carnivine!" The boy called out.
Toxicroak and Carnivine both came out to battle. Sora took out his Rotom Phone and scanned Toxicorak.

It bounces toward opponents and gouges them with poisonous claws. No more than a scratch is needed to knock out its adversaries. It booms out a victory croak when its prey goes down in defeat.
Sora puts his Rotom Phone away and threw his Pokéball.
"Go! Snover!" Sora called out.
"Let's go, Gallade!" Yugi called out. Both Pokéballs opened and Snover and Gallade emerged from inside. Snover's Snow Warning ability activates and it starts hailing. Gallade, Carnivine, and Toxicroak ends up getting hit by the hail.
"Intereting. Snover is a wise choice to use against Carnivine because of its Ice-typings while Gallade is a wise choice against Toxicroak. But Snover is vulnerable against Toxicroak since Grass-types are vulnerable against Poison-types, and Ice-types are vulnerable against Fighting-types," Conway said, adjusting his glasses.
"Carnivine! Use Crunch on Gallade!" The boy ordered.
"Toxicroak! Use Drain Punch on Snover!" The man ordered.
"Gallade! Use Psycho Cut!" Yugi ordered. Gallade lands a Psycho Cut on both Carnivine and Toxicroak.
"Snover! Use Powder Snow on Carnivine!" Sora ordered. Snover blew a Powder Snow on Carnivine.
"Carnivine and Toxicroak aren't making a very good start in this battle! Gallade and Snover are making good work of their teamwork against their two opponents!" Etna announced.
"Toxicroak! Use Cross Poison on Snover!" The man ordered.
"Carnivine! Sleep Powder on Gallade!" The bot ordered. Toxicroak heads right for Snover with a Cross Poison.
"Gallade! Use Psychic on Toxicroak!" Yugi ordered. Gallade uses Psychic on Toxicroak and the Toxic Mouth Pokémon ends up taking the snootful of Sleep Powder. Toxicroak ends up falling asleep.
"Toxicroak! Wake up!" The man pleaded.
"Thanks for that, Yugi," Sora said.
"Anytime, Sora. It's your turn," Yugi said.
"Right! Snover! Powder Snow!" Sora ordered. Snover unleashed a powerful Powder Snow, hitting Carnivine on the spot. "Now, use Ice Punch!"
"Gallade! Psycho Cut!" Yugi ordered. Gallade lands a hit with Psycho cut on Toxicroak as Snover lands an Ice Punch onto Carnivine, resulting in a double knockout.
"Carnivine and Toxicroak are both unable to battle! Snover and Gallade wins! The winners of the tag battle are Sora and Yugi!" The referee announced.
"A special congratulations goes to these two young trainers for a splendid battle and a splendid expression of teamwork!" Enta announced as the crowd cheered on. It was now the time for Lucas and Paul's battle. They were up against two young men. One has red hair and is wearing a purple cape while the other one is dressed in a karate outfit. "And now! Presenting our last battle of the day! Our two teams are poised and ready! So, Pokémon to the battlefield!"
"Luxio! Go!" Lucas called out as he lets out his Luxio.
"Weavile! Stand by for battle!" Paul called out as he lets out his Weavile.
"Metagross! Let's go!" The Psychic called out, letting out his Metagross.
"Zangoose! Come forward!" The black belt called out as his Zangoose came out to battle.
"Now, battle begin!" Enta called out.
"Now, Metagross! Use Bullet Punch!" The Psychic ordered. Metagross comes at the opponents.
"Weavile! Go!" Paul ordered. Weavile comes at the two opposing Pokémon.
"X-Scissor!" The black belt ordered. Zangoose jumps to deliever X-Scissor on the two Pokémon.
"Luxio! Spark!" Lucas ordered. Luxio charges right at Zangoose, but the cat ferret Pokémon dodges and lands a hit onto Luxio. Metagross lands a good clean hit onto Weavile.
"Crush Claw!" The black belt ordered. Zangoose comes at Weavile with Crush Claw.
"Use Metal Claw!" Paul ordered. Weavile comes at Zangoose with Metal Claw and lands a good clean hit onto the cat ferret Pokémon.
"Luxio! Thunder Fang on Metagross!" Luxio ordered. Luxio heads towards Metagross with his fangs emitting electricity. Luxio lands a good clean bite onto Metagtoss. The iron leg Pokémon ends up being paralyzed by the bite. "Yes! Metagross is paralyzed!"
"Weavile! Night Slash on Luxio!" Paul ordered. Weavile uses Night Slash on Luxio, much to everyone's surprise.
"Why did you do that?!" Lucas exclaimed.
"You were in my way," Paul stated.
"Luxio! Thunder Fang on Zangoose!" Lucas ordered. Luxio lands a strong Thunder Fang onto Zangoose.
"Weavile! Dark Pulse on Metagross!" Paul ordered. Weavile fires Dark Pulse and it struck Metagross on the spot.
"Metagross! use Bullet Punch!" The Psychic ordered. Metagross moves in and lands Bullet Punch onto Weavile.
"Crush Claw!" The Psychic ordered.
"Ice Beam!" Paul ordered. Weavile fires Ice Beam right at Zangoose.
"Bullet Punch again!" The Psychic ordered. Metagross comes at Luxio.
"Thunderbolt!" Lucas ordered. Luxio fires a powerful Thunderbolt and lands a hit onto Metagross. Metagross had been taken down with that kind of power.
"Metagross!" The Psychic gasped.
"Metagross is unable to battle!" The referee announced.
"Zangoose! Crush Claw!" The black belt ordered as Zangoose heads right towards Luxio and Weavile.
"Dodge and use Thunderbolt!" Lucas ordered. Luxio avoids Zangoose's Crush Claw and fires another Thunderbolt right at Zangoose. "Now, use Spark!" Luxio heads right towards Zangoose and lands a good charge right at Zangoose. The cat ferret Pokémon has been taken down.
"Zangoose is also unable to battle! Weavile and Luxio wins! Lucas and Paul wins the battle!" The referee announced.
"And that concludes the second round and we move right on to the finals taking place tomorrow! Which one of these four teams will be advancing to the final match? Will it be the teams of Dawn and Conway, Sora and Yugi, Doug and Larry, or Lucas and Paul? The only way to find out is by showing up to the finals first thing tomorrow and see!" Enta announced.
Now that the second round has concluded, one more day of the Hearthome Tag Battle Tournament is on, so which team will emerge victorius?
On the very next day, Sora and Yugi had just arrived and they are in the finals of the Tag Battle Tournament.
"The first battle of the finals is about to begin! We are now down to four teams and only one team is going to earn the Soothe Bell! Now, let's get the battle underway! Choose your Pokémon and begin your battle!" Enta called out. Sora, Yugi, Dawn, and Conway took out their Pokéballs and threw them.
"Go! Prinplup!" Sora called out.
"Sirfetch'd! Go!" Yugi called out.
"Buizel! Spotlight!" Dawn called out as she lets out her Buizel.
"Heracross! Appear!" Conway called out. Buizel and Heracross both made their appearance. "A Sirfetch'd. If I recall correctly, it's the evolved form of the Farfetch'd that lives in the Galar region. This should be interesting."
"A Sirfetch'd, huh?" Dawn asked, taking out her Rotom Phone for information.

Sirfetch'd is said to have the spirit of a warrior who have wielded a powerful sword and a sturdy shield in the old days of yore. It is said that only Farfetch'd who triumph in fierce combat can obtain this evolution. Once it withers, it will then retire from combat.
"Wow, that is so cool," Dawn said, placing her Rotom Phone back in her pocket.
"Dawn, word of caution. The shield Sirfetch'd holds is built for absolute defense. And that leek is nothing to sneeze at since Sirfetch'd are stronger than the leeks that a Kantonian Farfetch'd holds," Conway warned.
"No need to worry," Dawn said.
"Good. Sirfetch'd may know Detect. Aim your Buizel's Water Gun at Sirfetch'd, and I'll handle the rest," Conway said.
"Alright, Prinplup! Use Drill Peck on Heracross!" Sora ordered.
"Use Megahorn to block!" Conway ordered. Heracross uses Megahorn to block Prinplup's Drill Peck.
"Buizel! Water Gun on Sirfetch'd!" Dawn ordered. Buizel fired Water Gun right at Sirfetch'd.
"Use Detect!" Yugi ordered. Conway grinned.
"I was hoping for that. Feint!" Comway ordered. One of Heracross's claws glows orange and it slashes Sirfetch'd on the mark.
"What the?! Feint?!" Sora gasped.
"Wow, that was awesome!" Dawn said at awe.
"You see? As you just witnessed, Feint is a Normal-type move. It bypasses Protect and Detect and cancels them out," Conway explained.
"Sirfetch'd's Detect backfired on me," Yugi said.
"Don't worry, Yugi. It's just getting started," Sora said.
"You're right. We can't just quit that easily," Yugi said.
"Prinplup! Use Bubble Beam on Buizel!" Sora ordered.
"Buizel! Use Sonic Boom!" Dawn ordered. Buizel uses Sonic Boom to counterattack Prinplup's Bubble Beam. "Use Aqua Jet!" Buizel uses Aqua Jet and comes right the Penguin Pokémon.
"Sirfetch'd! Meteor Assault!" Yugi ordered. Sirfetch'd came at Buizel with with its leek emitting a yellow aura. Sirfetch'd lands a hit on the Sea Weasel Pokémon. Buizel had taken a lot of damage from Sirfetch'd's attack, but Buizel got back up on his feet.
"I figured Dawn's Buizel wasn't going to go down that easily," Sora said.
"What do you mean, Sora?" Yugi asked.
"Dawn's Buizel is a heavy battler, unable to go down that easily. The same can be said for my Buizel and Roxas's, too," Sora said.
"Sirfetch'd can't attack right away after using Meteor Assault, and this is our chance to attack! Heracorss! Use Megahorn on Sirfetch'd!" COnway ordered.
"Use Aqua Jet on Sirfetch'd, too!" Dawn ordered.
Buizel and Heracross head right for the Wild Duck Pokémon.
"Okay, Prinplup! Use Metal Claw!" Sora ordered. Prinplup rushes at both Pokémon and slashed them both with Metal Claw. "Use Bubble Beam!" Prinplup fired Bubble Beam, hitting them both.
"Counterattack!" Conway said.
"Right! Water Gun!" Dawn ordered. Buizel fired Water Gun right at Prinplup's Bubble Beam, blocking each other.
"What we're seeing a real clash of power between these two teams! Not one is giving the other any time to recover!" Etna announced.
"Push hard!" Sora and Dawn called out. Both Water-types kept on firing at each other, pushing hard. Prinplup managed to push back and land a hit with a powerful Bubble Beam.
"Sirfetch'd! Use Brutal Swing!" Yugi ordered.
"Use Brutal Swing!" Yugi ordered. Sirfetch'd swings its leek and lands a hit on the Single Horn Pokémon.
"Prinplup! Drill Peck!" Sora ordered. Prinplup uses Drill Peck on the Sea Weasel Pokémon. Both Pokémon have been taken down, resulting in a double knockout.
"Buizel and Heracross are unable to battle! Prinlup and Sirfetch'd wins! The winners of the tag battle are Sora and Yugi!" The referee announced.
"Sora and Yugi are the first team to make it right to the finals! We will have our next battle shortly!" Etna announced.
"Way to go, Sora," Kairi said.
"We lost," Dawn said.
"My strategy was foolproof," Conway said.
The next battle was now beginning as Lucas and Paul entered the battlefield as two young men have entered as well. Doug is wearing a plaude-pattern shirt and a stetson hat and Larry is a young man, wearing a white shirt and blue overalls.
"Up next is the battle between Doug and Larry against Lucas and Paul!" Enta announced. Barry looked over to Lucas and their eyes tell each other to give each other everything they've got.
"Go! Staravia!" Lucas caled out.
"Torterra! Stand by for battle!" Paul called out. Staravia and Torterra both came out to battle. Doug got a Pokéball out and threw it.
"Girafarig! Go!" Doug called out.
"Go! Xatu!" Larry called out.
A Girafarig and Xatu both came out to battle.
"Battle begin!" Enta called out.
"Staravia! Aerial Ace!" Lucas ordered. Staravia flew to land a hit onto Girafarig.
"Girafarig! Crunch!" Barry ordered. Girafarig's tail opened its mouth and heads right towards Staravia.
"Xatu! Air Slash!" Larry ordered. Xatu forms a ball of air and hurls it right at Torterra as it turned into a blade.
"Hyper Beam!" Paul ordered. Torterra fires Hyper Beam and it almost struck Staravia and it cuts through Xatu's Air Slash and lands a hit onto Xatu. A cloud of dust erupts from where Xatu is standing. Satravia was blown back, but Lucas was pissed by what Paul had just did.
"What the hell, man?! You didn't have to hit Staravia!" Lucas exclaimed angrily.
"Your Staravia is just too slow," Paul said. Lucas growled in anger towards the teammate he was forced to work with. He felt it was a huge mistake to be paired up with him.
Once the dust cloud has cleared Xatu is seen on the ground beaten.
"Xatu is unable to battle!" The referee announced.
"No, no!" Larry gasped.
"Paul almost hits Staravia with that Hyper Beam," Matt said.
"He did it without the concern for his teammate," Izzy said.
That Torterra is powerful, there's no denying that," Ken said.
"Man, I wasn't expecting that to happen," Larry said.
"Me neither. I'm going have to do the heavy lifting for the both of us," Doug said. "Girafarig! Head right towards Torterra and use Bite!"
"Staravia! Aerial Ace again!" Lucas called out. Staravia heads towards Girafarig, but Doug saw that coming.
"Staravia's right behind you!" Barry shouted. Girafarig gets under Torterra, but Staravia pulls up when it almost hits Torterra. Doug grinned as he had taken advantage of Torterra's blind spot. Girafarig came out from under Torterra and gets on its back.
"Turn back around!" Lucas called out.
"Stay out of this!" Paul said.
"NO!" Lucas said. "Do it now!" Staravia heads right towards Girafarig.
"Leaf Storm!" Paul ordered. Torterra fires Leaf Storm and it causes some serious damage to Girafarig. Doug was shocked to see it with his own eyes. Girafarig had been taken down by one hit just like Xatu.
"Girafarig is also unable to battle! Torterra and Staravia wins! The victory goes to Lucas and Paul!" The referee announced.
"And it is Lucas asnd Paul who will advance to the final round of the Hearthome Tag Battle Tournament! The teams of Sora and Yugi versus the teams of Lucas and Paul! The exciting concluding battle will take place later this afternoon!" Enta announced.
Lucas sat alone on a table as he is joined by Sora.
"Hey," Sora said. He looked right at Sora.
"Hey guys," Lucas said, feeling down.
"Not looking forward to the final round, are you?" Sora asked.
"What gave that away?" Lucas deadpanned.
"I can bet it's because of Paul," Sora said.
"You've said it. This tournament is supposed to be fun, but ever since I stuck with Paul, he's been sucking the fun out of this. He almost blasted Staravia with that Hyper Beam and he has his Weavile Metal Claw on my Luxio! I clearly don't like that guy," Lucas said.
"None of us do, but it just can't be helped. Just do what you can against me and Yugi and we'll do the same thing," Sora said. Lucas smiled, feeling better.
"I'll do my best," Lucas said as he and Sora fist bumped.
It was now time for the final round of the Hearthome Tag Battle Tournament. Both teams are in placed on opposite sides of the battlefield as it is about to begin. Sora and Yugi stood in one side while Lucas and Paul stood on the other.
"All right folks, this is it! The final match of the Hearthome City Tag Battle Tournament, in our warm and kind city where hearts meet! And very soon, for their winning performance, one of our most gifted Tag Battle teams will recieve the magnificent Sooth Bell!" Enta announced. Sora nodded as Pikachu entered the battlefield as Yugi took out his Pokéball and threw it.
"Raichu! Go!" Yugi called out. His Pokéball opened and his Raichu came out, floating in the air with its psychic powers.
"Grotle! Go!" Lucas called out as Grotle came on out to battle
"Elekid! Stand by for battle!" Paul called out as Elekid came on out.
"Thunderbolt!" Sora and Yugi ordered.
Elekid! Protect!" Paul ordered. Elekid forms a protective barrier and both attacks bounced off. "Now, use Brick Break on Pikachu!"
"Grotle! Razor Leaf!" Lucas ordered. Grotle fires Razor Leaf right at the opponents as Elekid heads right towards Pikachu.
"Iron Tail!" Sora ordered. Pikachu swings his tail and hits Elekid on the mark. Elekid gets hit with Razor Leaf.
"Elekid! Thunder Punch!" Paul ordered. Elekid rushed and landed a Thunder Punch on Pikachu. Paul grinned. "Good. Brick Break!" Elekid swung his arm to strike at the Mouse Pokémon.
"Use Psychic!" Yugi ordered. Raichu uses Psychic on Elekid and sends the Electric Pokémon.
"Use Quick Attack on Elekid!" Sora ordered. Pikachu dashed fast enough at Elekid and lands a hit. "Good work!"
Elekid gets back up and growled. Elekid started to evolve. Sora and Yugi were surprised by the sudden evolution. Paul grinned again to Elekid's evolution.
"Elekid's evolving," Sora said. Elekid had evolved right into an Electabuzz.
"Elekid's an Electabuzz," Yugi said.
"Now that my Elekid evolved into an Electabuzz, and you will learn the true meaning of power," Paul gloated.
"I already know the true meaning of power, Paul!" Sora said.
"THUNDER!" Paul ordered. Electabuzz fires Thunder right at the two Pokémon.
"Raichu! Use Psychic!" Yugi ordered. Raichu uses Psychic to block Electabuzz's Thunder and sends it back at the newly evolved Electric Pokémon and got hit hard. Electabuzz was overwhelmed with the two attacks and fell to the ground beaten.
"Electabuzz is unable to battle!" The referee announced.
"WHAT?!" Paul exclaimed.
"Grotle," Lucas said. Grotle was hurt from that Thunder outbreak and he knew he might not last long in this condition. Grotle fell on the ground.
"And Grotle is unable to battle! Pikachu and Raichu wins! The winners of the Hearthome Tag Battle Tournament are Sora and Yugi!" The referee announced.
Sora and Yugi stood on the winner's circle as the other participants of the competition were all present, all but Paul. Pikachu, Snover, Prinplup, Chimchar, Aerodactyl, Gallade, Sirfetch'd, and Raichu.
"Well done to you both. This Tag Battle challenge has brought out something new and exciting in you both. So now, I'm pleased to present you each with a Soothe Bell," Enta said as Sora and Yugi accepted the Soothe Bell.
"Thank you," Sora and Yugi both said.
"No, thank you for being part of our wonderful tournament. And I wish you both luck in the future," Enta said. Kairi and Téa were proud of their significant others for winning the tournament. Lucas was happy that Paul wasn't his parnter anymore.
Everyone made it over to the Pokémon Center to have the Pokémon healed up from that battle. Grotle was especially in bad shape becuase of Thunder. Dawn felt bad for her crush for losing, but Lucas didn't care.
"Congratulations to the both of you," Téa said.
"We knew you'd pull it off, you two," Joey said.
"Thanks. And now, the next stop will be Veilstone City," Sora said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"It was a thrill be teamed up with you, Yugi," Sora said.
"You too, Sora," Yugi said, shaking hands.
Now that the tournament was over and done with, Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel took their leave of Hearthome City for Veilstone City. Roxas, Xion, Lea, Ash, Leaf, Ethan, Kris, Lyra, Brendan, May, Chase, Lyra, Lucas, Dawn, Wes, Rui, Michael, Rei, the four DigiDestined teams, Yugi, and his friends have gone to different in different directions, so the Keyblade wielders promised to meet up in Veilstone City. But there are some other adventures coming up and some Pokémon to meet up later, so stick around if you wanna see some more action.
Originally, I was going to make it a three chapter arc, but I decided to make it a two chapter arc just to get it over it with quickly. Anyway, the Hearthome Tag Battle Tournament is over and done with, also there are some other fics that I have been working on, and I will have those done as soon as I can.
