Disclaimer: Card Captor Sakura and all related characters belong to CLAMP. The old English dub names belong to Nelvana, I guess. Regardless, they don't belong to me and never did.

Author's Note: I found this old story sitting around and decided to dust it off and post it. The story uses English names for the characters because at the time this was written Cardcaptors, Nelvana's English-language dub, was a thing.

Name chart:

Kinomoto Sakura = Sakura Avalon
Li Syaoron = Lee Showron
Daidouji Tomoyo = Madison Taylor
Yamazaki Takashi = Zachery
Mihara Chiharu = Chelsea

Special Author's Note: Please note that there are two versions of this story. They are, for the most part, the same. The difference is that the middle portions are told from different points of view in each version. There isn't much to this story because it was primarily an example to a group of young students who were practicing their writing skills by writing fan fiction. I wanted to show them how you could tell the same events from different perspectives and thereby change the tone or details of the story.

Unbelievable

Bang.

"Ouch!"

"Be quiet, or you'll wake someone up!"

Too late, thought Zachery as he slowly opened his eyes. Even if the loud noise or the sound of the girl yelling had not woken him up, which it did, the boy telling her to be quiet would have done it. Of course, Zachery didn't know for sure if it was a girl that yelled first or if it was a boy that yelled at her. That was because he, like any good fourth-grader, was at home, in bed, asleep. At least, he had been sleeping until all the noise woke him up.

Turning his head to the side, Zachery looked at the clock on his wall. It was dark, but he could just barely see one clock hand pointing at 11 and the smaller at 12. It was almost midnight, so why were people outside his bedroom window making noise, he wondered. Zachery's imagination ran wild, picturing burglars or maybe spies. When the noise got louder, Zachery decided he just had to know what was going on. The dark-haired boy crawled out of bed and crept over to his window. He pushed the curtains aside, prepared to see all sorts of interesting things. What he saw was something he never imagined.

The first thing he noticed was a boy holding a sword. Actually, he noticed the sword first, given that it was practically the size of the boy, and swords were not something you saw every day. Of course, it was not long before he noticed the boy. It was hard not to notice considering he was holding the also hard-to-miss sword and was wearing some fancy, but very strange robes and a funny looking hat. In the dark of night it was difficult to be sure, but Zachery thought they were green.

A few seconds later there was enough light for Zachery to positively identify the robes as green. Of course, the light was coming from the boy's sword as it shot lightning at some strange thing floating in front of it, so he was not exactly paying attention to the boy's robes anymore. In fact, Zachery's attention was focused entirely on the floating thing. He wished he could put a name to it, but it was so strange that the best he could come up with was a thing. Zachery was completely focused on the thing, trying to figure out what it was, until he heard a familiar voice shout, "Hang on, Lee!"

Looking down, Zachery saw someone scramble to their feet and run toward the boy in green. Based on the feminine sounding voice and the frilly pink dress—maybe it was white, it was difficult to be sure in the dark—with a large bow in the back. Before she reached the boy, she stopped suddenly and lifted some sort of stick above her head. She began shouting, and Zachery wished he could recognize the very familiar voice, even if she was saying something rather odd.

"Shield, protect Lee! Release and dispel, Shield!"

Zachery watched as the stick arced down and hit something hovering just in front of the girl. It was all too much for the fourth-grader—swords, floating things, and people in strange outfits all just outside his house. Even he was having trouble believing what he was seeing.

"What good is that going to do?" shouted the boy in green, drawing Zachery's attention back to him. The boy still held the sword out in front of him, although it seemed as though the floating thing was having trouble getting any closer.

"Gee, you're welcome." Zachery turned his head in time to see the girl reach behind her back and seem to toss something in front of herself. "Just watch and see."

Zachery thought again that the girl's voice sounded very familiar, but all of the incredible action going on in front of him kept him from concentrating enough to find the answer. And then, the girl raised her stick again and shouted, "Wood, trap the card in your branches. Release and dispel, Wood!"

When the stick dropped again, a tree appeared before the girl. Unfortunately, the girl's shouts attracted the attention of the floating thing, and it turned to go after her. Much to Zachery's relief and surprise, the tree's branches began growing at a fantastic rate, and in a matter of seconds, the thing was completely stuck between dozens of strong tree limbs.

"You did it, Sakura," came a shout from close to Zachery's house. As he tried to see who was talking now, Zachery finally realized the name he heard belonged to one of his classmates. And when he saw Madison appear from behind the bush next to his house, he knew for certain that the girl in the strange dress was Sakura and the boy with the sword was Lee. It was almost impossible to believe that two of his classmates, his friends, could wield swords and do magic, but he had seen it.

Zachery was so amazed by what he had just realized, that he was not paying attention when Sakura walked toward the tree she had just made, so he did not hear what she said. He did notice the light that appeared just before the tree disappeared, and he did notice all three of his friends walk away together.

He was just about to call out to them when he remembered what time it was. His parents would be very upset if they found out he was awake this late on a school night. Instead, Zachery decided to go back to bed and wait until tomorrow at school to tell everyone what he had seen.

-CCS-CCS-CCS-

Zachery had been waiting all morning to tell everyone about what he had seen last night. He would have done it sooner, but he had been so tired because of his late night that he woke up late and just barely made it to school before the bell. But now it was lunchtime, and he had plenty of time.

"I have some really exciting news," Zachery announced loudly so that everyone turned their attention to him. "Last night, I discovered that our own Sakura and Lee can do magic."

Silence reigned for a few moments, and then everyone began talking at once.

"Really, magic?"

"No way!"

"C'mon. Get real, Zachery."

Zachery waved his arms for a few moments until it quieted down enough that he could be heard again. "It's true," he said matter-of-factly. "I saw Lee make lightning with a sword, and Sakura can make a tree out of thin air." And before another round of shouting could begin, he added, "Just ask them."

Every eye turned to Lee and Sakura. Lee just folded his arms and stared straight ahead. Sakura just stuttered incomprehensibly and waved her hands in front of herself.

"That's enough!" Chelsea nearly shouted as she marched toward Zachery. "Haven't you embarrassed Sakura and Lee enough with your stories?"

"But…but it's true," Zachery insisted as Chelsea grabbed him by the ear. "Madison has it all on tape."

Chelsea let go of him to look at Madison, who sat next to Sakura looking quite innocent. Then she turned back to Zachery, once again grabbed his ear, and dragged him out of the room as she said, "For goodness sake, if Madison DID have something like that on tape, don't you think she would have shown it to everyone by now? You know how much she likes showing off her Sakura collection. Honestly!"

While everyone else had turned their attention back to lunch, Sakura and Lee had turned their attention to Madison. Lee looked both angry and curious at the same time, while Sakura just looked shocked and embarrassed. Madison, however, just continued to smile that innocent smile and said, "Well, I'm glad that's settled."

Seconds later, the students were distracted from lunch again, this time by the sound of Lee's and Sakura's chairs hitting the ground.

The End
