It was the beginning of spring in Metropolis with the sun shinning bright and barely any clouds in the sky. All was calm in the city as there was no robbery, no major crisis, no fires breaking out, there wasn't even in a jay walker in the city. Apparently the presence of Superman and Supergirl not only gave Metropolis a sense of hope but also a sense of civil responsibility. With Kara to help Clark with the super responsibilities they both had a light workload thus giving them time for Lois and Jimmy. Clark now had a much more sunny disposition as he now has a job working with his best friend and girlfriend while also having family close by, thus he no longer felt alone. Kara was still adjusting to life on earth but she knew she had a home here with friends and family. After Cadmus was rebuilt and established as a new government research lab with Mallah and Brain in charge Kara was hired as a security guard with a generous salary. Kara needed some practice to hide her powers at first but with some help from Clark she was able to blend in and make friends, especially Lois. Lois was glad that Clark had more free time to spend together and Jimmy was happy to have Kara around, however they were both still too shy to admit they liked each other. It was going to be a sunny spring for Metropolis and the Super Best Friend Squad.
It was a sunny Saturday morning in Metropolis with Clark doing something he wasn't able to do in months, sleep in. Clark had the day off from work and there was no major crime in progress that needed Superman. As Clark's clock struck 8:16am Clark was woken up by his ringing phone but Clark was not upset instead he was happy to see that it was Lois calling. Lois greeted Clark and Clark greeted back then asked Lois why she was calling so early in the morning especially on a Saturday. Lois responded, "Clark it's barely 8 in the morning and it's a beautiful spring day with the sun shining. Besides this has been a slow week for the news and Superman. Besides I have a surprise for you so get dressed and meet me at the docs at 9. I promise you'll like it." Lois hung up and Clark began getting dressed and doing his morning healthcare routine. Clark had finished his routine and quickly left the apartment his using super speed to avoid waking Jimmy, who was woken up anyway by a phone call from Kara. When Clark arrived at the docs he was greeted by Lois who was wearing a white t-shirt with a Superman logo and jean shorts. Lois explained, "Well since things have been so calm I figure we could go out on the water and do some scuba diving. I mean we did learn to scuba dive when we were covering that new exhibit at the aquarium last month and we did take that scuba class together and got certified. Plus a cool dip is a must during spring." Clark replied, "Well I suppose things have been quite in the city so I do have the time plus this a good couple activity. And according to that marine biologist I was interviewing yesterday there aren't any sharks in the area so we should be fine." Clark and Lois had climbed onto the ship Lois had rented with Clark loading the scuba gear onto the boat. Before the couple sailed out to the bay of Metropolis they shared a wonderful kiss then sailed off.
The sky was clear with only a few clouds brushed across the sky with the sun shining down on the cerulean blue water of Metropolis. Lois was at the bow smiling and enjoying the calm like a child on her first boat ride with Clark steering the boat with a smile on his face. Lois was amazed that Clark had a license to drive a boat and asked how he got it with Clark explaining, "Well Pa's friend, Norman, had a boat like this and they took me fishing with them and they even let me steer the boat. After I got my driver's license I decided to try for my boat license and I pass. The instructor even complimented me saying that I was the safest driver he ever tested. It is was pretty convenient since that year Norman accidentally broke his arm so he couldn't steer so he asked me to drive and I did." Lois responded, "Wait how did he fish with one arm or did he fish with both arms even though one was in a cast? Cause that sounds kinda dangerous especially if he fell overboard." Clark giggled and replied, "Didn't you and Jimmy work with Livewire and Heatwave to steal a spaceship from Star Labs?" Lois blushed and responded, "That was totally different. I mean our limbs were in tact and we had a plan that we kinda followed. Plus that was to save you from that crazy war computer." Clark laughed and thanked Lois for going through all that to save him saying he was lucky to have a girlfriend like Lois.
Upon reaching a nearby reef Clark cut the engines and proceeded to drop anchor, for Clark the anchor was hardly heavier than a coffee mug. Clark then proceeded below deck to change into his swimsuit, a pair of red swim trunks with cerulean blue horizontal stripes. Lois then slipped below deck after Clark exited to change into her wetsuit for the scuba dive, a short sleeved pearl white wetsuit with a crimson red triangle in the middle of the chest and several thin crimson red lines along the short arm and leg sleeves. Lois struggled a bit to carry the scuba she brought but Clark gave her a hand though she said, "Okay Clark, you can help me carry this stuff not cause it's too heavy for me but because I know you like helping people." Clark then replied, "Okay but I have to ask what made you decide to go diving today? I mean even when we took that diving class you seem like you were already knew what to do before the instructor." Lois replied, "Well while my family moved around including a lot of seaside towns. I was pretty athletic and I did learn about diving from a buddy my dad had in the navy. I really like swimming and underwater it's kinda like flying though you probably know how awesome that feels. I thought scuba diving on a spring would be a more chill and fun adventure compared to some of recent action packed and nearly deadly adventures we've been on." Clark replied, "No arguments here and I have to admit this is more fun than just sleeping in and a cool swim on a hot day is kinda nice." Clark and Lois strapped on their matching gun metal gray scuba tanks, cerulean blue fins, and scuba masks then back rolled into the sea.
After the splash Lois grabbed Clark's hand and the two began swimming towards the coral reef on the sea bed. The sunlight shining down gave the two divers an excellent view of the ocean flora on the sea bed with some local ocean fauna swimming around. Lois had been to outer space but she was so amazed by the ocean and its natural beauty with Clark just amazed. Clark had barely been to the beach when he was growing so he never really explored the ocean though he read about marine life often when he was in school. Clark and Lois shared a look as they turned towards each other as if they were speaking with their eyes. Lois then let go of Clark's hand so she could examine a school of Angelfish swimming by with Clark further examining the coral reef. Despite having been to outer space, seeing an undercover government lab, having superpowers, and after all the technological wonders (though most of them being weapons or combat armor) Clark was as fascinated by the ocean like a little boy visiting an aquarium for the first time. Lois was awestruck by the school of Angelfish swimming by as even though she has seen many other rare sights she had never seen an Angelfish up close before let alone a whole school. As Lois was floating in the ocean she began thinking to herself, "This is so amazing. I can't believe I'm seeing a whole school of Angelfish this was definitely worth it. Wish I brought a camera with me though I probably could have asked Jimmy when he was throwing money around but on second thought nah." Clark swam up behind Lois and tapped her on the shoulder with Lois turning around then the two began swimming along the sea bed enjoying this aquatic excursion. The couple reached a trench where they stopped and turned towards each other with Lois pointing at her regulator. Lois removed her regulator with Clark following Lois' lead and the two shared a beautiful underwater kiss. After a minute the two put their regulators back in their mouths and proceeded to swim back towards the boat.
Upon surfacing Lois asked Clark if this was better than sleeping in with Clark replying, "Well it's not quite as relaxing it is a lot more fun. Though why don't we ditch the scuba tanks and just go for a swim." Lois responded, "Are you just saying that cause you wanna see my swimsuit instead of my wetsuit?" Clark was flustered and replied, "No I mean that I don't want to see you in your swimsuit cause I'm sure you look beautiful in it. But I mean it's such a nice day and a simple swim would be kinda nice. I mean you already look pretty in your wetsuit and I'm sure your swimsuit is very flattering." Lois kissed Clark on the cheek and said, "I was just kidding Clark. I'm sorry but you are very funny to fluster. A cool dip would be kinda nice and I guess the simple things are kinda nice." As the two climbed back up onto the boat, Clark used his super senses to see or hear if Metropolis or any of its citizens needed his help but this a rare day where the city was completely fine with not even so much as a jaywalker. After placing the scuba gear below deck Lois unzipped her wetsuit to reveal her two piece pearl white swimsuit decorated with a sky blue diamond pattern. Upon seeing Lois in her swimsuit Clark was on the verge of an anime style nosebleed though Lois was close to one also upon seeing Clark in his just swim trunks without his glasses.
The sun was still shining down with the two lovebirds holding hangs as they prepared to jump into the ocean. Clark and Lois leaped into the ocean like teenagers in a spring break movie then after surfacing Lois decided to start a splash fight with Clark. After a few minutes of playful splashing the two then just floated in the water holding hands, taking a cue from the gentle otters. Lois then asked Clark, "So Clark, I was curious when you sent that message to Kara, and I was being a bit distant, why did you?" Clark replied, "Well after we found that Kryptonian ship in the arctic I discovered I had a cousin that survived. I mean I know I was raised on earth but losing your home planet makes you feel lonely plus I was kinda lonely cause I had to hide my powers. I guess I just wanted to meet Kara so I wouldn't feel alone and it wasn't the best first meeting but I'm glad to meet her." Lois replied, "Yeah meeting your cousin was a bit much to take in but she is kinda fun, especially since she makes me feel like a big sister. Kara really seems to take to earth culture though it's word she likes the same documentaries and movies my dad does but, she also has a stuffed animal collection at the same time. Sorry again about sticking you with my dad a couple weeks ago." Clark replied, "Well it wasn't the best but after the whole debacle we seem to get along better these days. We even went bowling with my dad last week in a tournament and won. Though it was kind of a surprise he owned his own bowling ball. But in all seriousness, I have to say life is pretty good cause I have you, Jimmy, Ma, Pa, and Kara." Lois was to see Clark no longer felt alone and began a second splash fight with her kryptonian boyfriend.
Meanwhile in Metropolis, Jimmy and Kara were walking around the Metropolis Zoo and Aquarium in the sunny spring weather. Kara was curious about some of earth's animals plus, she was wanted a reason to hang out with Jimmy today. The two would-be lovebirds were standing in front of a large glass tank filled with many fish. An aquarium guide saw the look of interest on Kara's face and walked up to her and Jimmy then asked if they had any questions. Kara asked the guide for any information on the fish in the tank. The guide responded, "Well first off, all of the fish in these tank are saltwater marine life so they can only survive in the salty ocean water. In fact, all of these of fish can be found right in Metropolis bay especially in many of the natural and artificial bays in the reef. While these species are common there are many environmental laws that protect them from being overfished. If you want a closer look I'd recommend scuba diving right in Metropolis Bay and to learn more I'd recommend visiting the zoo's website. Here is a brochure with the website and a business card for a diving shop near the bay that's run by my uncle. Tell him Irma sent you and he'll give you a discount on your first trip." The guide handed Jimmy and Kara a brochure and business card each then headed to assist another curious visitor. Kara looked at the business card and suggested to Jimmy, "Jimmy Flamebird, I am interested in getting a closer look at this animal life. Perhaps we could visit this shop another day as I am not scuba certified. However would like to visit the beach today as given the warm weather an earth tradition for days like this is a visit to the beach." Jimmy agreed and said, "Well Kara, I suppose we could take a class together on scuba diving. I have a friend who teaches that kind of stuff. Plus a beach day does sound like a good idea especially since the city seems to be peaceful today." While Jimmy was onboard for the beach day he was incredibly nervous as in the back of his mind he was picturing Kara in various swimsuits.
Jimmy and Kara had to stop by their apartments to gather their beach supplies, Jimmy got his first with Kara getting her's from Lois apartment. Kara was staying in Lois' apartment and after being alone for years Kara enjoyed having a roommate just like in the earth sitcoms she grew to love. The two were walking to the beach with Jimmy asking when Kara got a swimsuit. Kara explained, "Last Friday Lois Lane took me out an earth ritual called girl's day out. I found the idea strange but the pedicure was quite delightful but I found the act of clothes shopping boring. However, Lois Lane did it make it rather fun with the fashion show and she showed me even more of earth's amazing food, particularly the delicacy she called a bacon cheeseburger and the other delicacy the cheesecake. She helped me find a swimsuit and told me what function it has though I was surprised at how little fabric is needed for such an earth activity." Jimmy was on the verge of an anime style nosebleed as he began picturing Kara in a bikini so he decided to change the subject asking how she liked earth so far. Kara replied, "It is unusual but I find it to be very intriguing especially the different landscapes. The people are also quite interesting especially you Jimmy Flamebird and Lois Lane. Though it is some comfort to have my cousin close by as he does feel me, as you humans say. I have also developed a fondness for Ma and Pa especially given how welcoming they have been. I very much enjoyed Pa teaching me the earth sport of fishing and Ma teaching the earth art form of knitting. I am especially grateful to have met you Jimmy Flamebird when I first arrived and you showing me the beauty of this planet." Kara then kissed Jimmy on the cheek with Jimmy blushing and asking why Kara kissed him. Kara explained that Lois taught her that a kiss on the cheek was a way of thanking someone close to you with Kara saying Jimmy was someone she was someone very close to her. Kara and Jimmy then continued walking to beach as they both blushed immensely.
