(Author's Note: This is set in some fictional world in some fictional year. In my mind it is Georgian-Era England, but it can be wherever and whenever you want it to be. In this world, gay relationships are just as common as straight ones and happen all the time. There is no stigma around it whatsoever.
Instead of the Bennet children being all siblings, they are all cousins under their uncle's care. Mr. Colins- from the BBC's 1995 version to be precise- is the eldest cousin, entitling him to inherit Longbourn House. While his nieces and nephews could go out and find work, All Might- as he will be referred to- wants them to find advantageous marriages due to their genteel rank in society. In other words, working would demean them (it's a Regency thing for well-off young ladies).
Also no quirks or supernatural powers in this reality.
Told from Izuku Midoriya's P.O.V. Enjoy!)
It was spring. My favourite time of the year. The flowers had freshly blossomed, baby animals were all abound, the wind was warming up, and the air smelt so good. Wearing a contented smile, I knelt to inspect some blooms in our flowerbed. On the grass beside me lay an open notebook and pen. Our uncle had a massive library here at Longbourn House, full of everything you could imagine, including several volumes on botany. Studying plant life was one of my favourite things to do in the springtime as well. My eyes were closed and this great, big smile spread across my lips as I leaned in to smell one of the flowers when my cousin's voice caught my ear.
"Izuku! Izuku, Uncle wants us!" "Coming!" I hollered back to my older cousin, Tenya. I joined him and the others inside. There were five of us in total living with our uncle. He was the youngest of seven siblings; two brothers and five sisters, which explains why we all had different last names. All Might's older brother, our other uncle, had long passed, leaving a parish to his only son, one Mr. Collins. Since he was the eldest nephew, and All Might had no children of his own, he was set to inherit the entire estate. The rest of us only had minor incomes from our mother's side of the family, which wasn't enough to live comfortably on. You can probably imagine where I'm going with this.
Tenya and I entered the drawing room, only to see everyone else already inside. Our three other cousins- Ochaco, Shoto, and Mina- where seated on the sofa and chair while our uncle stood by the window, staring out of it with his hands folded clasped behind his back. He waited until we were seated as well before turning around to address us all.
"Children, I have… I have some news to share with you," he began, although with some reservation to my surprise. We all listened attentively, curious to see why he would call this family meeting so early in the day. Uncle All Might waited a second before continuing, glancing off to the side momentarily.
"Do you remember Morris's estate in Hertfordshire?" "Netherfield?" Ochaco inquired and our uncle nodded. "Precisely. I've just heard from Mrs. Long that it is let at last. It is taken by a young man of large fortune from the north….. A "single" man of large fortune," he tacked on, and all our eyes widened in sudden understanding. Only did Shoto seem to miss the point, letting his gaze wander out a bit in confusion. "Why should that be any concern for us, Uncle?"
"It is your concern, my dear nephew, because he is a man of good standing and considerable wealth. His name is Kirishima, and he has five thousand a year." "Five thousand a year?" Mina, Tenya, and Ochaco exchanged intrigued glances. Meanwhile Shoto was still clueless as ever. "And how can that possibly affect us?" "Don't you see, Shoto? It is my intention that he must marry one of you," Uncle immediately replied and I blinked taken aback. "One of us, Uncle?"
"Indeed, Izuku. Five thousand a year would not only secure one of your future security but the security and comfort of your cousins as well. From what I hear this Kirishima is an aimable young man who comes from a good family." "A family in trade?" Tenya asked, earning a sharp side-glare from our uncle. "That's right, but his fortune urges one to look the other way on such things. It would be my greatest pleasure to see any one of you five accept a proposal from him and of course I'll give my hearty consent to his marrying whichever one he chooses."
None of us said anything for a moment, exchanging curious and somewhat anxious looks again. Then Mina peered back at our uncle with an interested expression. "Is he handsome?" "Very handsome, I think, and polite. He has a gentleman's mannerisms to be sure." This delighted our cousin and set my nerves at ease. While I hadn't thought of getting married this year, I suppose it's something to start thinking of. I was nineteen now, after all.
"Will he come to the ball tomorrow, Uncle?" Tenya asked, and Uncle nodded. "I believe so, yes." That was enough for Ochaco and Mina, who got up off the couch and rushed out of the room all excited. Shoto was his usual self and indifferent to the whole affair. Tenya, being the eldest, took it upon himself to go attend to some necessities before tomorrow's ball, leaving me alone in the parlour with our uncle. I stood up, and staying where I was, I smiled at Uncle All Might warmly.
"Thank you for going to introduce yourself to Kirishima, Uncle. I'm sure my cousins are very eager to meet him tomorrow." "And what about you, Izuku?" Clasping his hands behind his back, Uncle took a step towards me, lowering his chin a tad. "Me, sir?" I blinked and he nodded softly. "Are you looking forward to meeting Kirishima?" "Oh yes! Anyone who has your good opinion is worth meeting, I'm sure. Heh, though I can't promise that we'll get on… romantically, I mean," I chuckled and so did he, nodding his head again. "That is why I am happy there are five of you. He's bound to take a shine to one of my fine nieces and nephews. How could he resist your charms?" "Heh, I hope you are right, Uncle. Though it would be nice to see one of my cousins fall for him too." "Indeed, Izuku.
We should all be so lucky to have it go that way in the springtime."
