High above the city of Gotham Robin sat in a crouch staring down from an ornate ledge. From every vantage point he and his mentor who stood at his side were merely shadow. In the silence they watched and they waited. One hour. Then two.
A cold breeze whipped up from the street. Dick suddenly chuckled like it had told him a joke as it passed by.
"What?" Bruce asked with his typical gruffness, not moving the binoculars from his eyes. They were trained on a balcony four stories below on an adjacent building.
"I just can't believe you had me up here as a little kid."
Bruce slowly lowered the binoculars and gave him a side eye, his signature frown printed on his lips.
"It wasn't that much of a stretch from trapeze." He said with no hint of humor.
The younger man shrugged. "Just more guns." He said easily.
Bruce only grunted in response and returned to his task.
The french doors on the balcony below finally opened and three men walked out.
Bruce tucked the binoculars away. Dick could not see him smirk, but he could hear it. "Showtime."
He flashed a wide grin as he watched Batman step off the ledge.
"Hell yeah." He said and Robin followed in a leap.
