Skye and Nat came into the compound with grocery bags. Sitting in her living room with her dad was Lizzy.

"Lizzy. Hi. What are you doing here?" Skye asked.

"I came to talk to you," Lizzy said.

"She said she is a friend of yours?" Steve asked.

"Um. Kind of. She is Tucker's um, friend," Skye said.

"Does he not know?" Lizzy asked.

"No, he knows. I just don't like the term baby mama all that much. Especially given the fact that you two are not co-parenting or anything," Skye said. "And I don't know what else to call you. Ex seems wrong too since I don't think you two really dated."

Lizzy chuckled, "That's true."

Steve got up and grabbed the bags from Skye. "I will let you two talk."

Skye nodded and went and sat where her dad had been. "What is it?"

"What happened between you and my parents?" Lizzy asked.

Skye took a breath, "you should ask them."

"I did. They won't tell me," Lizzy said.

"Then I guess you don't get to know," Skye said

"Come on. That's not fair," Lizzy said.

"Do you love your parents?" Skye asked.

"I do," Lizzy said.

"I don't want to risk taking that from you. You deserve to be happy," Skye said.

"And you think if you tell me what happened I'll hate them or something?" Lizzy asked.

"I don't know. Maybe," Skye said.

"They didn't abuse you did they?" Lizzy asked.

"No. They were really good to me. Talked about adopting me. Until things happened. And I got blamed and yeah," Skye said

"What happened?" Lizzy asked

"Lizzy. I can't be the one to tell you," Skye said.

"Please," Lizzy said. "I asked them. Hell, I asked Tucker. No one will tell me."

"Oh. You asked Tucker?" Skye asked.

"He didn't tell you?" Lizzy asked.

"He did not," Skye said.

"Oh," Lizzy said. "My bad."

"No. It's on him," Skye said.

"Okay. Fine. But what happened between you and my parents?" Lizzy asked

"Look. What happened between them and me has nothing to do with you. Or how they treat you. I will say they were very good to me until the end. I know they are good people. . . who lost a lot. And I . . . took the hit for what they lost," Skye said.

"What do you mean?" Lizzy asked.

"Bucky what are you doing?" Nat called from the kitchen seeing Bucky standing by the door listening to Skye talk to the other girl.

Bucky shot Nat a look.

"Steve doesn't even spy on Skye's conversations," Nat said.

"Papa!" Skye said looking towards the kitchen door.

"Hrm. Wasn't listening. Just standing here," Bucky said.

"Nat is right you are worse than Dad," Skye said.

Steve came into the kitchen "Buck what are you doing?"

"He is spying on me!" Skye called out.

Steve chuckled.

"Dad!" Skye said.

Steve grabbed Bucky and pulled him off to do something else.

"He is gone," Nat called out.

"Thank you," Skye said before looking back at Lizzy who had a smirk on her face.

"What?" Skye asked.

"I'm glad you got out of the care system," Lizzy said.

"And I'm happy you did too. I wasn't kidding. I do think your parents are good people," Skye said.

"I agree. I just. My mom has cried several times since then. For the damage they caused," Lizzy said.

Skye sighed, "Oh."

"And they have been told to leave you alone. So I want to know how to make my mom, not sad," Lizzy said.

"I didn't know she was upset about it," Skye said. "And to be fair it's not entirely their fault."

Lizzy sighed.

"I'm sorry I can't give you an answer to your question. It wouldn't be fair. If your parents really won't tell you there is nothing I can do," Skye said.

Lizzy sighed and nodded, "All right. I should head out. Thanks for at least talking to me."

Skye shrugged, "there is a part of me that still feels like former foster kids stick together."

Lizzy smiled and nodded, "I feel the same way. But I kind of figured you probably hated me."

"Why would I hate you?" Skye asked.

"Tucker," Lizzy said.

Skye chuckled. "Nah. That was so long ago."

"Yeah. It was. But people in his life tend to hold grudges," Lizzy said.

"Let me guess, Carly?" Skye said with a sigh.

"You've met her I take it?" Lizzy asked.

"Oh yeah. We've met," Skye said.

"Don't get along with her either huh?" Lizzy asked.

"No. We ended up at the same school. She didn't like me from the beginning. She thought I gave him up, which was why he ended up in juvie the first time. I didn't, but I guess she felt like I was lying and wanted to protect her cousin. It's a whole thing that ended shitty and a long story," Skye said.

Lizzy shook her head.

"Do you know that Tucker cut them all off?" Skye asked.

"I didn't no," Lizzy said.

"I'm not going to say more about that. His story but yeah," Skye said.

Lizzy got up. "Okay. Well, I'm going to head out."

Skye got up as well and showed her out before she went into the kitchen.

"You okay?" Nat asked.

"Yeah," Skye said.

"So, what happened in that home?" Nat asked concerned.

Skye let out a breath. "A long story. One that is not easy for me to talk about."

"Okay. But you know you can always talk to me right?" Nat asked.

"I know, thanks Nat," Skye said.

Pepper came into the kitchen with James in a carrier on her chest and carrying cleaning supplies.

"Hi," Skye said.

"Hi sweetie," Pepper said

"Do you want me to take him so you can clean without him in your arms? Where is Tony why is he not helping? Do I need to kick his ass?" Nat asked.

Skye giggled.

Pepper laughed, "Tony took Morgan out for a Daddy-Daughter afternoon, and I would put him down but anytime I try to or hand him off to someone else he cries."

"Let me help you with the cleaning?" Skye offered. "I'm supposed to be doing extra chores anyway."

"She is," Nat pointed out.

Pepper held out the cleaning stuff, "you don't mind cleaning my and Tony's bathroom?"

"No," Skye said taking the stuff.

"You sure? You seem a little upset," Pepper said.

"The daughter of my last foster parents came. Trying to get answers about what happened," Skye said.

"Oh," Pepper said.

"The cleaning will be a good distraction," Skye said before she went off.

Nat looked at Pepper. "Do you know what happened?"

"I do. She told Tony and he told me," Pepper said. "I don't think it's fair for me to tell you but she was blamed for something that wasn't her fault. And it was the entire reason she would not hold James or go all that close to him. Until she was convinced she was not at fault. And Tony and I and her dads have helped her work on not being afraid to be near James."

"I wish she would tell me," Nat said.

"It took her years and a forced hand to tell anyone," Pepper said. "You know when she came in here telling Tony and me off for leaving Morgan alone in the living room with James? Tony came down on her for it and it forced her to have to tell why she lost it like that."

"Makes sense. That girl is like a vault," Nat said.

"Yeah, a vault that when cracked blows up and leads her to get in trouble," Pepper said.

"Pretty accurate," Nat said.

"What is?" Steve asked.

"Your daughter being a vault that when is cracked blows up because she doesn't talk about what she is thinking and or feeling," Pepper said.

Steve looked concerned.

"She's okay," Nat said quickly. "Just she was a little upset about whatever she and the other girl talked about."

Steve nodded relaxing a little.

"I have put her to work cleaning," Pepper said.

"Okay," Steve said. He looked at Nat. "Did she ever tell you what happened in the last foster home?"

"No. I know little bits but not the whole thing," Nat said.

"That's probably worse than knowing nothing," Steve said.

"I just want to know so I can help her too," Nat said.

"I don't care if you tell her Dad," Skye said coming into the room.

Steve looked at her.

"I just don't want to talk about it any more than I have to," Skye said.

Steve went over to her and wrapped her in a hug.

Skye hugged him. "I'm okay Dad."

"Okay. Good," Steve said. "What did Lizzy want?"

"To know what happened I guess they won't tell her. I didn't either. I figured it's up to them," Skye said.

"Okay," Steve said. "Heard you have been put to work."

"Yup, just came to grab another sponge from the closet and heard the conversation," Skye said.

"I don't need to know until you are ready to tell me," Nat said.

"Okay," Skye said with a shrug before she went back to cleaning.

An hour later she had finished cleaning everything Pepper had planned to clean and put the cleaning supplies away and went and washed her hands.

Morgan came into the kitchen.

"Hey Squirt, you have fun with your Dad?" Skye asked.

"Yes! We went ice skating!" Morgan said.

"Oh that is so much fun," Skye said with a smile.

"It was!" Morgan said before she ran off to find her mom.

Tony came into the room a little slowly.

Skye put her hand over her mouth to hide her smirk. She took a breath and straightened her face, "You okay Uncle Tony?" the smirk escaped a little.

"Wipe that smirk off your face," he said. "I'm not as young as I once was."

Skye chuckled, "I'm sorry. You're not hurt right?"

"No, just sore," Tony said sitting down. "Anything exciting happen here while I was gone?"

"Not really. Did some cleaning for Pepper," Skye said.

"Good. That reminds me. One of my cars needs a complete cleaning inside and out. You and Loki are going to be the ones doing it."

Skye sighed, "Okay."

"What did you do by the way?" Tony asked.

"Smoked weed in Asgard," Skye said.

Tony raised an eyebrow.

"Yeah I know," Skye said. "It was stupid."

"Did you have a reason in your mind why you did it?" Tony asked.

"I had a lot on my mind and wanted to forget for a short time," Skye said.

"Skye. When I was about your age I started using, Drugs, and drinking. And doing other things I won't mention. It took me years to dig myself out of the hole I had buried myself in," Tony said.

Skye nodded.

"Don't make choices that will affect your future negatively," Tony said.

Skye nodded. "I'm trying not to."

"I know it's hard," Tony said. "And unless you have managed to hide it had been a while."

"Last time was when Loki and I got busted together the first time," Skye said.

"Didn't you use the last time you were in Asgard too?" Tony asked.

"I bought the last time I was in Asgard. Was going to use here, but got busted before I could," Skye said.

"You get it from the same person this time?" Tony asked.

"Yes," Skye said. "Her mother knows. Now."

"I am sure Thor and your dads handled it," Tony said.

"Oh they did," Skye said. "So when do you want us to clean your car?"

"Tomorrow. I will let Loki know," Tony said.

"Okay," Skye said. "You need anything that can help with the soreness?"

"No," Tony said with a smile.

"Okay," Skye said before she went off to find something to do.
