Chapter Six
All the way in the land of Maharaja, the trio were travelling through the thick jungle.
"This here is Maharaja." said Robert. "Here is where it's mostly populated by exotic birds. At this rate, we'll make it to the man village by the next afternoon."
Then Aiden interjected "Hey Robbie, is it too late to have something to eat?"
"Again? Aiden, you just had breakfast."
"First breakfast, yeah. What about second breakfast?"
"Highly irregular."
All of a sudden, there was a loud trumpeting noise, the ground started shaking rhythmically and the trees were falling and leading their way.
"Get out of the way!" Robert panicked.
The trio got out of the way before more trees fell and revealed a herd of marching woolly mammoths led by a mammoth with grey hair. The mammoths said "Hup, two, three, four. Hup, two, three, four. Keep it up, two, three, four."
"A parade?" asked Hannah.
"Oh, no." annoyed Robert. "The dawn patrol again."
"This is one heck of a party." said Aiden.
The grey mammoth, major Homer, ordered "Hup, two, three, four. Dress it up, two, three, four. Company... halt!" And the herd stopped marching for Homer's speech. "Okay, men. It's time to clean up this town."
However, the mammoths didn't look satisfied. They were in a pause, then one of them asked "Meaning what, exactly?"
"Y'know, push trees around, make ourselves feel big."
The female mammoth said "March, march, march. My feet are killing me."
"I'm putting in for a transfer to another herd." said the mammoth with a bald head.
Homer ordered "Silence in the ranks!" Homer marched around the herd, seeing how crooked they're standing. "Dress up that line." The mammoths raised their rear ends. But he slapped the rear end of a teenage female mammoth to adjust it. "That's more like it." He walked back to the front.
Then a teenage male mammoth said to the teenage female "Imagine that, Jamie. Even with your sticky face-"
"Scott! Do you mind? This is my personal space."
"Nah, that ain't your space. This is your space!"
So the two of them began fighting with their tusks locked together. But stopped the fight when he stomped hard and said "Scott! Get out of your sister's space." Then he ordered the rest of the herd "Inspection... arms!" And the mammoths stuck their trunks out. He checked in the trunk of the mammoth with a bald head. "Dusty muzzle. Skinner, remember in battle that a trunk can save your life. Take good care of it, my man."
"Yes, sir."
Homer inspected the fat mammoth and said "Lose some weight and you'll be a lean, mean, fighting machine."
"Yes, sir." burped the fat mammoth.
"Esprit de Corps!" said Homer. "That's the way I earned my commission in the Maharaja's pachyderm brigade. It was back in '88, I think."
"Here it comes again," said the older female mammoth in sotto, "the cross bit."
"It was then I received the Mastodon Cross for bravery above and motivation beyond comparison. Ha-ha-ha! Those were good times! Discipline. Discipline is a lot like an orange." Homer picked out an orange from a nearby tree and presented it for demonstrations. "First there's the skin, and then the sweet, sweet inerts." He started eating the fruit, and... the herd looked confused.
"I don't understand." said the Jamaican mammoth.
The Scottish mammoth said "If I wanted to see a mammoth eat an orange, I would've taken the orange-eatin' herd!"
"Oh... Where was I? Oh, yeah. Inspection." Homer continued his inspection, but something grabbed his attention. He saw Aiden standing by the herd. He came over and said "Well, now. A dinosaur all the way here, eh?"
"Yes." said Robert, climbing up on Aiden's neck. "Aiden here is with me, Homer."
"Major Homer, if you please, sir. And as for you, my long-necked friend. Let's keep those heels together, shell we, son?"
"Okay, major-dude." Aiden obeyed the major's order by putting his heels together.
"Very good. This young one seems to be taking orders quite well." Homer began inspecting Aiden as if he's one of his troopers. Then he saw Hannah on the dinosaur's back. "I say, what's on your back?"
He pushed Hannah's head with his trunk, but she pushed it away and said "Hey, stop that!"
Homer was surprised. He sputtered "What the- A man-cub! Oh, this is treason! What's the big idea breaching into my jungle?!"
"Take it easy, man." said Aiden. "Hannah's my little sister. She's with us."
"Indeed." Robert said. "We're taking her back to the man-village."
"To stay?"
"You have the word of Robert."
"Good. Now, then..." Homer was about to say something, but he forgot it. "Now... Um... Where was I?"
Aiden asked "You were... giving the order?"
"Ah, yes. Very good, son." said Homer. All the mammoths were dosing by now, but woke up as soon as Homer commanded. "Very well, let's get on with it. Forward... march!"
The mammoth were on the march through the jungle as the trio continued their journey to the man village. However, a bunch of northern white-cheeked gibbons were stalking them from up in the trees.
"Hannah as your sister." said Robert. "It's a shame you two are not related to each other."
"Who cares?" objected Hannah. "Fuzzy was my little brother and he wasn't related to me."
"That's my girl." said Aiden. "You're gonna make one swell dinosaur. Why, you even fight like one."
"Ridiculous." Robert protested. "When she goes to the man village, behaving like a dinosaur would be bogus."
"Party pooper." But then, Aiden noticed a gibbon was stalking them from the trees. "Hey, Robbie? I think that monkey's following us."
"Yes, I've had my eye on him for a while."
Just then, they've reached the slopes of Everist, a mountain with a snowy top and reaching up to 800 feet high. Aiden found a cavern and he entered it with Hannah and Robert on his back.
"Where are we going?" asked Hannah.
"We're taking a shortcut."
"Whaddya mean a shortcut?"
"I mean, faster than the long road."
"I know what a shortcut is."
They see that the whole cavern is made of ice and Hannah was astound by the sight of it. Robert saw a frozen carnivorous fish within the ice wall, which freaked him out a bit.
"Heh-heh. A fish." he chuckled nervously.
Then Hannah encountered a frozen t-rex and she was caught in fear and surprised at Aiden's back approaching the beast's frozen visage, replete with pointed teeth and claws. Aiden didn't seem to be freaked out. But then he saw a massive flying saucer that had become frozen in the ice.
"Freaky." he said. "Really freaky."
Just then, Hannah was abducted by the stalking gibbons from above. Her friends were alarmed and they chased after the monkeys.
"Hey! Let go of me!" said Hannah.
"Hannah!" panicked Aiden. "Take your flea-picking hands off my sister!"
"Come on and get her, champ!" said the first gibbon.
"He ain't no champ, he's a chump!" said the second gibbon.
The third gibbon said "Yeah! Ha-ha! A big hothead!"
Robert and Aiden were still chasing after them out of the cavern, but then they slipped and fell on the floor one by one. However, they regained their bearings and continued chasing.
"Give me back my little sister!" Aiden demanded.
Suddenly, the gibbons dropped bananas peels on the floor and Hannah's friends slipped and fell down the hill. Once that's taken care of, the monkeys carried Hannah away and climbed up the mountain. Aiden and Robert climbed back up hill and looked up to find out that Hannah's up on Everist.
"I can't believe it," said Aiden, "them mangy monkeys carried her off!"
Robert said "I didn't see it coming either. Oh, I hate to think what will happen when she meets that king up there. Let's start climbing."
"Climbing? I'm a dinosaur. I don't climb a mountain."
"Hannah is up there. We must."
Robert began climbing up the mountain while Aiden was following him, struggling and getting terrified in the process. They were halfway up, but Aiden didn't seem to be less braver for being up so high.
"Take it easy, Aiden." said Robert. "Just pay attention to me, and don't look down." Then his foot slipped off a rock. It made him look down and panicked "Robert! I'm looking down! AAAAAAAHHHHHHH! I can't take this! I just can't!"
"You're already halfway." Robert tried to think of a way to make Aiden climb without being so afraid, then he thought of something. He said "Aiden, you better hurry. Because... they might eat Hannah."
"Monkeys eat meat?!"
"They have sharp teeth. That means they can eat meat... I know so."
"Oh no!" said Aiden with his courage coming in. "No one's eating my little sister!" He rapiby climbed up the mountain until he made it to the top. He looked around and noticed he's on top of Everist. "Oh."
Robert climbed up and smiled "Nice work, Aiden. Nice work."
Now that they're on top, they moved on to find Hannah.
Chapter Seven
At the very top of Everist, there was an ancient Chinese temple, which was identical to the Nanshan Temple, where a yeti is seated on the throne. The yeti was 10 feet tall, had white hair all over his body and he had a peace sign on his chest. He was being served by many primates, such as gibbons, Gee's golden langur and gorillas.
The yeti was scat-singing "Ding ding lo-la diddly-o zing boing. Sca-be-do, hoo-be-do, zee-bo do-zeb. Diddly-doo dee-hoy. I wanna be a man-man one or-rang-a-tang tang."
Then a gibbon called "Oi-oi-oi! We got her, king Yeti!"
The gibbons who captured Hannah dragged her to the throne and presented the man-cub to their king.
"Ha, ha, ha! So you're the man-cub." said Yeti with his eyeballs rolling around. "Crazy."
"I'm not as crazy as you are." Hannah narrowed and regained her bearings. "What do you want me for?"
"Glad you ask, babe. Word has grabbed my royal ear that you want to stay in the Animal Kingdom."
"Stay in the Kingdom. That is true."
"That's groovy." Yeti snapped his fingers for a gorilla to bring him some fruits on a stoney platter. "And ol' king Yeti, that's me, can fix it for you. I'll lay it on the line for ya." He took a bite of a mango and continued talking. "Just think about it. You can stay here on Everist... with me and my servants. No worries, no boundaries."
"That's..." said Hannah, "...sounds okay. I'll do anything to stay in the Kingdom. But what do I have to do?"
"Here's a hip idea." replied Yeti grabbing her hand. "You see, I'm the king of Everist, right? It's awesome and stuff, but... it's so lonely at the top. So I was thinking... maybe, you can be my queen."
Aiden and Robert made it to the walls of the temple and peeked through the window and saw the throne room. They can see Hannah with king Yeti having a talk.
"It's quite simple, really." Yeti continued. "All you have to do is marry me and then you become queen of Everist."
"Marriage?" surprised Robert. "So that's why he's got her."
Aiden, not thinking Hannah marrying that yeti was a good idea, said "No way. No hairy bozo is marrying my sister. So how do we get in without being in trouble?"
"Don't know. But, somehow, we have to."
The apatosaurus looked around himself. He saw only a snowbank and... he got an idea. "Robbie, I've got an idea." he said before rolling his head on the snow bank.
"Aiden," asked Robert, "what on Earth are you doing?"
Aiden stopped rolling his head when he had snow on his lips, looking like he had a beard. He said "Check this out. I have a beard. I can go in with a disguise and be a bitter old dino."
"Are you an idiot? Dinosaurs don't have beards when they grow old. It won't work."
"We'll see."
Back in the throne room, Hannah was looking puzzled about marrying king Yeti. She said "I don't know. I mean, we don't know each other that well. So I'm not sure if I would like you."
"Oh, I bet you would." said Yeti. "Besides, I can wait for a couple of weeks. In the meantime, let's just bond to each other."
All of a sudden, a gorilla guard interjected them. "Excuse me," he said, "king Yeti."
"Yes? What is it?"
"We have a guest. Says he's, uh... marriage counselor."
"Groovy. Bring him in."
The gates to the throne room opened and it revealed Aiden limping and acting like an old man. Hannah knew it's Aiden behind that disguise. Robert sneaked into the throne room and climbed on the collumns so he wouldn't be caught. He spied on Aiden to see how his plan is going to work.
"Excuse me." said Aiden acting like a bitter old man. "I overheard about you two being married and stuff. I'm a marriage counselor from Dinoland. And I must... object to this moment."
"Object?" shocked Yeti. "Hey, man. I just asked this man-cub a request. Dig?"
"Wow." Robert whispered. "He's... actually doing a good job. I hope that snow on his face doesn't melt." He moved into the shadows to get closer to Hannah.
Aiden continued "Young man, I had the same idea when I was your age. And look what a bitter old man I turned out to be."
"Well, maybe this time-"
"I can't have other opinions! I'm too bitter!"
While Aiden and Yeti were occupied talking to each other, Hannah saw Robert motioning her to come along. She tip-toed to the shadows and Robert grabbed hold of her before making their escape.
"Marrying a nice girl is fine, but when and where? And also, how many kids will you..." Then, with snow's coldness running in his face, Aiden began to sneeze. It threw away his disguise and now the king knew he wasn't old at all.
"It's Aiden the Apatosaur!" said a gibbon.
"Yeah, it's him!" said another gibbon. "How the hay did he get in here?"
Yeti looked around himself, noticing Hannah was gone. Then he saw her on Robert's back and they were reaching the gate. "Hey!" he roared. "That's my queen!"
The yeti charged to attack, but Aiden whacked him away with his tail and made a break for it. He rendezvoused with the others and ran as Yeti's servants chased after them. They were able to escape the temple but found themselves on top of the mountain's very steep side.
"This is too steep." said Hannah. "How can we get down?"
Aiden then saw a surfboard-like rock and said "I've got another idea."
With Hannah and Robert on his back, Aiden moved the rock to the edge and got on it. With the apes approaching, Aiden tilted forward and he was sliding down the mountain side. The apes forfeited the chase for they're too far away. Hannah and Aiden were enjoying the ride while Robert was getting terrified of it.
"Yahoo!" cheered Aiden. "Cowabunga! Oh, hey! I think I invented a new sport! Rock-boarding!"
They made it to the slopes of Everist safe and sound. But Robert looked so terrified, he was grabbing hold of Aiden's neck.
"Now let's get outta here." said Aiden before running away from the mountain.
Back in the temple, Yeti regained his bearings as his servants returned to him. Just then, they saw Drago coming through the gate along with his vultures.
Drago said "Good day, king Yeti. Seems to me that you... had quite the party."
"Oh, you have no idea." said Yeti. "A couple of outside animals infiltrated here and snatched my fiancee away."
"I see. And where are they heading now?"
"No clue. But, hey. I could use some help, man."
"Yes. I bet you can."
Then Drago attacked Yeti and killed him with his teeth drawing into his neck. The apes were shocked to see that. With Yeti dead, the vultures ate his remains and the apes had no choice... but to bow before they're new king.
"Alright." said Twitch. "You've now become the king of Everist."
"I always wanted this place for my own," said Drago as he sat on his new throne, "but now's not the time to celebrate. We'll stay here for the night. And dawn rises, it's hunting season for the man-cub."
"Absolutely, sir."
Chapter Eight
At night time, the trio were travelling through a blistering wind. It was so cold, they couldn't stand it.
"We're in a jungle." puzzled Hannah. "How can it snow like this?"
Robert replied "This is Maharaja. It's a land filled with so many mysteries and it's surrounded by a mountain chain."
"Well," said Aiden, "we gotta get out of the wind. How much further?"
"Ten miles."
"That's not good. We'll camp here for the night."
They decided to stay in a cave for the night until the wind stops blowing. However, the trio found an interesting discovery. They were in a large cave that was riddled with a number of human paintings of animals. There were paintings of both contemporary and prehistoric. They've never seen anything like it.
"Wow. This is amazing." Hannah said looking around. "You were right, Aiden. Humans did live here once."
Robert was surprised to hear Hannah say that. He never did tell her about the story when humans once lived in the Animal Kingdom. Then she saw her drawing something on the wall with a stone.
"What ya doin', little twig?" asked Aiden.
"Making a picture of us." she replied.
Robert and Aiden came over to see her making a picture of the three of them together. However, the picture Robert saw as himself didn't look a lot like him.
"That doesn't look a thing like me," he said.
"Yeah, it does." Hannah said.
"And what about Aiden? He's not thin. Give me that." Robert took the stone from Hannah's hand and gave the picture of Aiden a fat appearance. "That's better. Now he's fat like what he's based on."
"I'm not fat." Aiden denied. "It's my ribcage that makes me look round."
"Well, let me take care of that," said Hannah.
Hannah took out a piece of flint to scribble all over the picture to start over. Suddenly it made a spark and it fell right into the wood that was on the floor and it made a little fire. The trio were shocked that the man-cub made fire all on her own.
She smiled "So that's how you make fire."
Afterwards, they were having a bonfire in the cave. While Hannah and Robert were eating insects, Aiden was playing a beetle like a harmonica.
Aiden ceased to play the beetle and said "Man, this adventure's off the hook. I travelled everywhere in Dinoland, but never been to so many places in the Kingdom that's extreme and stuff."
"Pah!" said Robert. "What you did is a disgraceful performance. Associating with those undesirable, scatterbrained apes. However, I'd say you did a pretty good job fooling them."
"It didn't fool me." said Hannah. Just then, she yawned. "Boy, am I tired."
Aiden said "How about you'd just hit the sack, little sis."
"Okay. Good night, big bro."
Hannah came over to give Aiden a hug before heading off the far end of the cave. With her asleep, the other two were now by themselves.
"It's a shame you two aren't related to each other." said Robert to Aiden.
"Who cares? It's the bond that counts. And... we should get some shuteye too. We've got a big day ahead."
The two of them laid down on the ground and fell asleep.
At dawn, when it stopped snowing outside, Robert was up late. He whispered "Aiden. Aiden, wake up." But the dinosaur couldn't wake up. He was a heavy sleeper. So he blocked Aiden's nose and it finally woke him up.
"Yo." said Aiden. "What's with the wake-up call, man? My dream was off the hook."
"I'd like to have a word with you."
"A word? You gonna talk some more?" Aiden yawned before following Robert out of the cave. "All right, what's up Robbie?"
"Well, I need to ask you." Robert said. "Has Hannah... ever been any trouble to you?"
Aiden replied "At first, she was. But after the sparring we did together, she was okay."
"Well, before leaving Dinoland, you two were having a talk about something. What is it?"
"I don't know what you're-" Aiden was bluffing, but one look from Robert's sternly face made him spill the beans. "Alright. We agreed that we can see if she likes the man village and-"
"Aiden." said Robert. "Going to the man village is not a request. She must go there. You can't adopt Hannah as your sister."
"Why not?"
Robert tried to think of something that might convince him. He said "How can I put it? Well... birds of a feather should flock together. You wouldn't marry a t-rex, would you?"
"I don't know." Aiden replied. "Ha ha, come to think of it, no t-rex ever asked me."
"Aiden, you've got to be serious about this."
"Oh, stop worrying, Robbie, stop worrying, I'll take care of her."
"You don't understand. Her life is in danger."
"I know; she told me. She's being hunted down by a dragon."
"Not any dragon. Drago."
That came to a surprise to Aiden. He asked "That dragon? What's he got against the kid?"
Robert replied "He hates man with a vengeance, you know that. Because he was nearly shot in the face by a man's gun."
"But Hannah doesn't have those things. She doesn't even know how to use them."
"Drago won't wait until she does. He'll get Hannah while she's young and helpless. Just one blast of fire!"
"Whoa, whoa, whoa." Aiden interrupted. He was now starting to worry about encountering Drago when he tried to get Hannah. "So... what are we gonna do?"
"There's only one thing you can do. You must take her to man village." said Robert.
"Are you out of your mind? I promised her I can look after her!"
"That's just the point. As long as she stays with you, she's in danger."
"Why don't you do something about it?"
"I did. But she won't listen to me."
Aiden took a quick moment to peek through the cave mouth and watch sleeping Hannah with sadness. He said "I like that kid. I like her like she was my own sister."
"If you do care about her," said Robert, "then you must do what's right for her. Please, Aiden. You're the only one she'll listen to."
Chapter Nine
As the sun was rising at the horizon, Aiden took a sad moment by himself as he ventured back in the cave. He came over to Hannah and said "Hannah? Hannah? Uh, it's time to get up."
Hannah woke up and saw Aiden being close to her. "Morning, Aiden." she said rubbing her eyes.
"Ya ready to go? The man village is not too far away."
"Okay."
Hannah climbed on Aiden's back before they took their leave out of the cave. But Robert was climbing up a tree and turned the other way.
"You leaving?" asked Hannah.
"I'm heading back." Robert replied. "I've been away from home long enough."
"See you around," said Aiden, "eh, Robbie."
"Well, good-bye Robert." said Hannah with glee. "Me and Aiden, we've got things to do."
"Good-bye man-cub. And good luck." After seeing her one last time, Robert swung from vines and he was on his way home.
Aiden travelled through Maharaja and passed the mountains while Hannah was sitting comfortably on his back. They stopped at a hillside and saw the man village from a few miles away. Hannah was a little satisfied by the sight of it.
"It's..." she said, "...it's beautiful. But the jungle's more beautiful than that. Hey, Robert's gone. So let's make a break for it." Hannah slid down Aiden's tail to run back, but the dinosaur grabbed her and pulled her back. "Hey, what's wrong, big brother?"
"Well, um..." Aiden replied. "Hannah, look babe, there's something I've got to tell you."
"Tell me what, Aiden?"
Before he can say something, Aiden whispered in sotto "Gee whiz. How did old Baggy put it?" He thought of a way to tell her, which might confuse her. "Ah, Hannah? Hah, you wouldn't marry a t-rex, would you?"
"Heh-heh. I don't even know what you're talking about." Hannah chuckled.
"Please, don't you even realize that you're a human?"
"I'm not anymore, Aiden. I'm a dinosaur like you."
"That's great, but that's not the point." Aiden was finally ready to break it to her gently. He said "Listen, kid. I've been trying to tell you, I've been trying all morning to tell you. I'm saying I don't care about you, but I've got to take you back to the man village."
"What?!" shocked Hannah. "But... But you said you can be my brother."
"Now believe me, kid, I can explain-"
"You're just like Robert."
"That is so not true. That's gone too far."
Frustrated, Hannah picked up a rock and threw it at Aiden's shoulder. She said being so heartbroken and bitter "I can't believe I trusted you. I don't care what anyone said. I'd rather die in the Kingdom then to go back to the village." Then she ran away.
"Hannah!" called Aiden chasing after her. "Wait a minute! Stop! Don't go out there! Hannah? Hannah!"
Aiden heard rattling from the trees. He looked at a tree branch and saw Robert with him.
"Now what's happened?" Robert asked.
"You're not going to believe me, Robert," said Aiden, "but look, now I used the same words you did, and she ran out on me."
"Where'd she go?"
"She headed forward."
"Why, don't just stand there. Let's get moving. We've got to find her before Drago does."
While following Robert into the jungle, Aiden said in soto "Oh, man. If anything happens to that kid, I'll never forgive myself. I've got to find her."
Chapter Ten
Meanwhile, Hannah was still running through the jungle and she stopped at the stairs of an ancient ruin. She sat down, crying about no one letting her stay in the Kingdom that was her home. However, she heard vultures screeching from up high. She had a feeling they're Drago's vultures. So she ran up the stairs to a ruined temple surrounded by lava. She crossed the bridge and hid inside. She was panting in relief that they didn't find. But then, a few gorillas showed up and abducted her out of the temple.
"Hey!" Hannah demanded. "Let me go!"
The apes escorted her outside where the front entrance was littered with primates, vultures and Drago just arrived.
"Well," said Twitch," look who decided to show up."
"Hannah." smirked Drago. "I was beginning to worry about you. Now you'd best be running while you can."
"You don't scare me." she said. "I'm not gonna run from anyone this time."
"Ah, you have spirit for one so small. But... where's your dinosaur friend?"
"Who cares?"
"It's just that my vultures are hungry for dinosaur steaks."
Hannah gasped in shock to hear that. She realized that they might eat Aiden. She scorned the scaled beast "You leave my big brother alone."
Surprised, Drago laughed and said "The dinosaur as your brother. How ironic. Too bad he's not here to watch over you."
Drago blasted a stream of fire from his mouth, and it scared Hannah away down the stairs. The dragon chased after her, pinning her to the ground with his claws. As he was about to eat her, Aiden showed up and smacked him away with his tail, freeing the man-cub.
"Aiden." Hannah said. With the dragon away, Aiden lowered his head so she could hug him with tears running down her face. "Thank you. Thank you for coming back."
"Let's get outta here." said Aiden.
But then, Drago's vultures and primates came down and cried "Charge!" And they fought Aiden to retrieve Hannah.
"Buzz off!" said Aiden. "I ain't got time to monkey around."
Just then, Robert popped out of the trees and fought the primates while Aiden occupied on the vultures.
"Hannah," said Robert, "go to the man village. Before Drago gets you."
For the first time, Hannah ran off to the village. And Drago was chasing after her. However, Aiden pushed him away so he could pick her up and run through the jungle. Enraged, Drago took flight and chased after them both.
"Give me the man-cub!" demanded Drago. "Give it to me!"
Aiden discovered a watering hole nearby and dove right into it. He began to swim through the tunnel and until... he made it up aout of the water. He and Hannah were now outside the Animal Kingdom.
"We're out?" asked Hannah. She looked left and saw the man village only a mile away.
"I think he's gone now, Hannah." said Aiden. "Now listen. I want you to go to the village and be safe there. Okay?"
But before Hannah could answer, Drago showed up and landed in Aiden's way. She hid behind Aiden's leg, terrified.
"This has gone far enough." sneered Drago to Aiden.
"She's outside the Kingdom now! Just leave her alone!"
"I can't do that! She's seen too much. She dies here and now."
Drago began his attack but Aiden fought him back. Hannah was hiding behind the bushes and watched them brawl. Aiden was able to break the dragon's wing with his tail, but Drago bit him on the neck, impaling him. Hannah knew he needed help. So giving all her might, she roared like a dinosaur as Aiden taught her to do. With Drago stalled by the distraction, releasing the dinosaur, Aiden kicked him and knocked him into a rock wall, causing several large rocks to fall on Drago, killing him.
Robert came over and saw that Drago was dead. "I can't believe it." he said.
Aiden said to Hannah "Hey. You roared like a dinosaur."
"I had a good teacher. You okay?"
"Ha-ha. Who me? Sure I am. Never felt... better."
Robert came over and said "What were you thinking, taking on Drago? You could've died trying to save Hannah."
"That's what you do in a herd. You look out for each other."
As the trio were on their way, Drago's vultures showed up and saw Drago dead.
"It's going to be a bit dull without the big guy, isn't it?" said one of the vultures.
Another vulture said "Yeah, so what we gonna do?"
"I don't know- hey now don't start that again!"
"I'd say we EAT 'IM!" said Twitch.
Eager for food, Twitch flew down and feasted on Drago's remains. The others took their chances and ate their former boss.
Chapter Eleven
Meanwhile, the trio were on their way to the man village. Aiden said "Hey Robbie, too bad you missed the action. You should have seen how I made a sucker out old scales with that left in his face. I gave him a boom, boom, I was giving him wham!" He turned to Hannah. "You wanna know somethin', we make good sparring partners."
"You better believe it!"
"Oh, yeah, man! Nothing or nobody is ever gonna come between us again."
But then, Hannah saw something. She saw a boy about her age walking from the man village to a nearby river. She asked "Hey. What's that?"
"Oh, it's the man village." Robert replied.
"No, I mean that? Is that another man-cub?"
"Forget about that dude." said Aiden. "They ain't nothing but trouble."
But as Aiden turned away, Hannah slid down his tail to get closer. "Just a minute. I've never seen one before."
"So you've seen one, so let's go."
"Don't worry, I want a better look."
"Hannah, wait a minute-"
Then Robert objected "Aiden. Let the child take a closer look."
Aiden and Robert watched as Hannah got closer to the boy. She climbed on a tree branch over the river where the boy came to water.
"Alright." said the boy. "Just need to get a few water and then-"
Suddenly, he heard a breaking noise coming from the tree. Hannah fell right down to the river. The boy now noticed her. Feeling a little shy, she ran to some bushes.
"Wait. I'm a friend." the boy said. He came over to her in the bushes. When he saw her, Hannah's shyness was wearing out slowly. The boy was amazed to see this jungle girl before. "Wow. I've never known girls as cute as you would live in the wild. What's your name?"
Hannah was blushing for someone calling her cute. She hesitated "Uh... Hannah."
"Hannah. That's a pretty name. How about you come to the village with me? It's not so safe out here."
Hannah never wanted to go back to the man village. But now... she does because she was starting to like this boy. She smiled and nodded in agreement. The boy held her hand and escorted her out of the river. But then, she saw Aiden and Robert looking at her.
"Oh, wait." she said. Hannah ran back to Aiden and hugged his leg. "I'm sorry, Aiden. I've changed my mind. But I won't forget you."
"I agree." Robert said. "You take care of yourself."
But Aiden was in agreement with this. He said "Well, I-" Before he could say something, Hannah took off back to the boy. Aiden watched in shock to see his little sister entering the man village. "I can't believe it."
"I knew that was going to happen from the start." Robert looked at Aiden with such disappointment about Hannah. He climbed up his neck to stand on the dinosaur's head. "Come now, Aiden. I'll miss her too. But it's now done. Hannah is now where she rightfully belongs. Safe with her own kind."
"Yeah." replied Aiden. However, his face was slowly starting to turn from sad to happy. "I guess you're right. She may be human, but she has the heart of a lion and the soul of one swell dinosaur. Well, c'mon, Ro-Ro. Let's head back to my place. Treestars are on me."
"I don't eat treestars."
"No problem. I'll help myself with treestars."
Now Aiden and Robert were on their way back to the Animal Kingdom.
"This is gonna be the best migration ever." said Aiden. "I'll show you my favorite watering holes. I should introduce you to this triceratops when we get there. He turns brown when the fungus in my scales dries."
"Attractive." said Robert in sarcasm.
"Y'know, this whole Animal Kingdom thing is getting old. You know what I should call it? The Wildlife."
"Keep dreaming, Aiden."
"No, really..."
And so, the two were moving on to their daily lives, content that Hannah was safe and happy with her own kind.
The End
