"So what you're saying is you have no idea how these men are attacking our NCR troops?" said Charles to Lois inside the Freeside Security Agency.
"No, sir. If they are hiding at the fort, it's certainly something I wouldn't know about. But you do bring up a good point—a lot of suspicious people have been leaving recently that I never saw come in."
"Well, we should search the place now, then," said Joseph.
"That wouldn't be smart, Joseph. If what you say is true, then if they see you coming, it's over. They could turn on their Stealth Boys and blast all of you. And while we are in the Security Agency now, some people may have seen me come over here."
"So what do you suggest we do?" asked Charles.
"Well, we could send in your Securitrons and your men to search the place, but that would create great enmity between you and the people here if we don't find anything. Or, I could go in and investigate myself, but we'd be taking the chance that they don't know I work for you."
"Well, if we take either plan, we're putting our trust in you. And with the first plan, they could see those Securitrons coming from a mile away and run. But my question to you is—how can we trust you? I get that you're Joseph's friend, but still," said Charles.
Joseph had a small scowl, but then Lois responded,
"Well, I'm a friend of the NCR. They saved me when I was a child. And since these radicals want to doom us to this false sense of freedom from the NCR—only to end up under the boot of the Legion—I won't allow that."
"Alright, alright. But in regards to your plan, they probably already know about our movements and are retreating soon. So, I guess we go with the first plan—find out as much as we can before they get away from us," said Charles.
"Alright then, I'll make the calls," said Karl.
Then, after making the calls, the group, along with a few Securitrons and Freeside agents, went to the fort.
The thunderous thud of the Securitrons and agents could be heard across Freeside, and once they reached the area, there were already some Securitrons and agents at the fort trying to question people.
Once there, Charles went up to the soldier talking to Julia Farkas and said, "I'll take it from here."
Then she said, "What's with all this? Saying we're helping the Freeside militants? Why would we do that after what you did to Emily? You telling them something, Lois, or what?"
"It is exactly because of our actions with Emily that you would help the militants," Charles said.
"Sure, I get that, but we're the Followers of the Apocalypse, not a militant group that you guys have to deal with. Plus Your people have been searching this place for a while and haven't found anything, so that should prove we have nothing to do with this," she replied.
After conducting another search and finding nothing, Charles said, "Fine, we'll have troops stationed here for supervision until we find something."
