Thomas was scared the moment Danielle stepped out of the hair and make-up tent. She looked angry, and neither her armoured costume nor her cavewoman-like hair made her look any less terrifying. Not even to mention the sword she was holding in her hand. Luckily, she handed that particular prop to some poor PA before she stormed towards him.
"What the fuck, Hunt?" were the first words coming out of her mouth. She didn't need to elaborate further. Thomas already knew Chris must have told her about their conversation earlier. It was not surprising in the least that Danielle was offended by that. She likely thought it an invasion of privacy that he would even comment on her sex life.
And that was exactly what it was, but Thomas really did not appreciate being lied to. And, being the stubborn man he was, he said, "Thomas. I thought we agreed on first names."
"Oh, you wanna play that card?" she asked, now standing right in front of him. "Okay. Okay, you wanna be friends, Thomas?" His name sounded like an insult then, and he wasn't so sure that was what he wanted her to call him anymore. "Then be my fucking friend and fucking talk to me instead of making assumptions."
She sounded like she was about to rip his head right off and Thomas wanted to take a step back. He didn't. He didn't want to let her see him falter. "Whatever are you talking about?"
"Don't play dumb. You know damn well what I'm talking about," she huffed. "But, sure, let me spell it out for you: Chris and I. You've got your panties in a bunch over us for some reason, and I've just about had enough of it."
"I do not care about your love life, Danielle," he said as nonchalantly as he could. "I simply do not appreciate being lied to."
"Good thing I haven't done that, then." She rolled her eyes. "Chris and I went to bed as friends and we woke up as friends. Whatever happened between that is none of your business."
"It is my business when you keep me awake at night," Thomas countered. They hadn't, really, but he could hear them and that was enough to bother him.
Danielle let out a laugh. It wasn't a friendly one. "Oh, is that what this is about? You've never made a woman scream like that and now your little ego is wounded?"
Thomas' mouth fell open. Obviously, that wasn't true, but he was too taken aback by her audacity to find the right words to reply right away.
Danielle took this as a sign of defeat. "I'll see you on set in a bit, Thomas," she spat and walked away from him.
Danielle almost felt like she was a Freshman at Hollywood U again, yelling at Hunt the way she just had. No, they hadn't made any progress in their relationship at all. It was still just the same. He was an asshole, and she wasn't going to take it. Maybe that last remark had been a bit of a low blow, but it had done its job in shutting him up.
She didn't know any more than she had before, though. Why on Earth did he always have to get all up in her business? She understood that relationships and such between co-stars could be tricky, but Hunt hadn't even mentioned that. So what else could it have been? She didn't believe for one second that it was because he thought they had lied to him.
Danielle didn't have time to dwell on those thoughts, though. The PA she handed her sword to earlier came to bring it back to her and informed her that they were ready to start filming the first scene. She took a few deep breaths to get into the zone and then walked over to where they would be shooting.
Hunt appeared calm as ever, but she could tell he was angry. She didn't pick another fight, though. They needed to get this film done, and she wouldn't stand in the way of that. She was a professional, after all.
Shooting went relatively smoothly, though Danielle did think Hunt had a few more notes on her performance than absolutely necessary. Instead of fighting back, she took them and they got the first scene done in no time. It wasn't even noon yet when Hunt called for a break before they would move on to another scene.
"Is it just me or was that a little awkward?" Chris asked Danielle on their way to the lunch truck.
She shrugged. "Honestly, he's got to get over whatever his problem is. Maybe he just got up on the wrong foot today. I'm sure tomorrow is going to be better."
Though the words came from her mouth, she highly doubted them.
