Chapter 13 Into the Nether
After Aaron agreed to rescue the wolf pup from the placed called the Nether, Boldof led us into a cave. Inside, there was a large frame made out of some type of dark purple stone.
"What is that", Aphmau asked.
"That's a Nether Portal. I think the name is self-explanatory", Aaron replied. Then, Boldof walked up to him and put his hands on his shoulders.
"Ultima, thank you so much for volunteering to rescue Kiva", he said.
"You're welcome, Alpha", Aaron replied. "After all you've done for my family, it's the least I can do."
After talking to him, Boldof gave Aaron a nod. Then, he turned around, and walked up to the Nether portal. He had a flint and steel in his hand. He used it on the portal, and it suddenly lit up.
"Alpha, Melissa", Boldof started as he turned to face them. "Good luck. Stay safe, and please return with Kiva."
"We promise, Alpha", Melissa said to Boldof. "We're not coming back without Kiva."
"You have our word, Alpha", Aaron added. Then, Jacob tugged on both his dad's and aunt's pants, so they turned around to face him.
"Dad, Auntie Melissa, be careful, okay", he said.
Seeing that his son was really worried, Aaron kneeled down in front of him and patted his head. "Don't worry, buddy. We'll be back before you know it."
"Yeah", Mellisa added as she copied her brother's actions. "And we'll be back with Kiva."
"O…okay", Jacob said sadly, prompting both his father and aunt to hug him. They then let go and stood up as their mother walked up to them.
"Aaron, Melissa, please be careful. And look after each other", she instructed her children. Then, she placed a hand on each of their cheeks. "I don't know what I'd do if I lost one of you."
"Don't worry, Mom. We'll be fine", Melissa reassured her, before wrapping her arm around her brother's shoulder. "And I'll make sure to keep an eye on Aaron."
"And I'll make sure to keep an eye on her", Aaron added.
"Good", Rachel said. Then, she pulled both of her children into a hug. "I love you both so much."
"We love you too, Mom", Melissa said.
"Yeah", Aaron said, before pulling away from his mother. "Look after Jacob, okay?"
"I will", Rachel replied. Then, she took her grandson into her arms and carried him to the side as he waved goodbye to his father and aunt.
"Aaron", Aphmau called out to him. "Be careful, okay?"
Aaron gave Aphmau a nod. Then, him and Melissa turned around, and stood in front of the Nether portal, before looking at each other. "You ready, Melissa?"
"Ready", Melissa replied. "Let's go save Kiva."
I watched as Aaron and Melissa walked into the Nether portal. A few moments after they stepped on it…they suddenly disappeared!
"They're gone", Aphmau exclaimed in shock.
"They are in the Nether now", Boldof said. "Let us hope that they are able to successfully rescue Kiva."
"Grandma, will Dad and Aunt Melissa be okay", Jacob asked with a worried expression on his face.
"Your daddy and auntie are very strong people", Rachel said. "I'm sure that they will be fine."
"Oh. Okay", Jacob said.
Even though I believed Rachel's words, they didn't get rid of the heavy feeling I had in my heart. I looked up at the portal, and began to worry about Aaron.
As I was thinking about if there was anything I could do to help Aaron, I suddenly heard yelling coming from outside the cave. I then turned around…and saw Lowell running straight towards us.
"I need to go help Kiva", Lowell yelled out as he ran into the cave.
"Don't, Lowell", his mother cried out as she ran after him. "It's not safe for you!"
Despite his small legs, Lowell ran really fast. Though everyone in the cave tried to grab onto him, he ran past them all..and right into the Nether portal!
"Lowell", Aphmau yelled as he disappeared into the portal.
Without even thinking about it, I ran into the Nether portal after Lowell.
When I stepped onto it, everything was swirling around me and I became a bit dizzy. After a moment, the swirling and dizziness disappeared…and I found myself in a red! uneven landscape that was surrounded by lava.
