It had never crossed Martha's mind to wonder what an alien planet might smell like. She'd been to earth's past, and it had been a bit stinky thanks to the lack of proper plumbing, but now here she was on an alien world and…

The scent reminded her of her grandmother's kitchen when she'd been a kid, warm, and redolent of mixed spices. It almost made her mouth water and for an instant she was hit by such an intense wave of homesickness for a past she'd completely forgotten that it almost made her cry.

Home was so far away.
