Disclaimer: Wow. I could really feel the intensity as I wrote the last chapter. Never did I think I'd ever pull an Adventure Time and cut off one of my main character's arms, but here we are. And knowing Wave, she'll be proactive in adapting. I'll admit I was worried that her arc of learning to listen to others would retcon her arc of learning to think things through in the first two seasons, but now that I think about it, she still did her own thing AFTER her Promises Era arc, so I think it still fits. Let me know what you guys thing.
Also, I don't own Paw Patrol.
Paw Patrol X
Powered Up Pooches arc Episode Thirteen: A Blessing and a Curse
Rocky, Zuma, and Charm were hurrying back to the others, who recently recovered from Victoria's paralysis. Rocky was holding Wave, and Charm was holding Arrby. When they all got back, the others were horrified when they saw the current states of Wave and Arrby. Wave's predicament especially horrified them. The blood from her arm still hadn't stopped, and Rocky could feel it on his paw. Marshall instantly rushed over, taking out his medical equipment as he made a desperate demand to Rocky. "Put her down now!" Rocky instantly did as told.
The others hurried on over with Snow carrying Liberty, who went over to Wave with her as Marshall took out some clean gauze after holding up Wave's wound above her heart the best he could. Liberty noticed Snow's breathing start to get faster as Marshall put pressure on the wound to stop the bleeding. So she instantly started nuzzling her, which helped her start to calm down. She then knelt down to Liberty and rubbed her head. Liberty had to be careful of course, thanks to her stab wound.
Marshall then looked to Rocky, handing him his pack after taking the bandages out for when the wound stopped. "Rocky. I have some petroleum jelly in here for Chase's burn mark. Could you hand it to him?"
"Of course." Rocky assured Marshall, taking the petroleum jelly out of Marshall's med-kit before taking it over to Chase.
Rocky handed it to him before opening it up, leaving Chase to assure him that he had it from here. "Thanks Rocky. I can apply it myself." Rocky nodded in understanding, allowing Chase to apply the jelly to his burn wound.
Marshall continued applying pressure to Wave's wound as he expressed how much pain she must be in right now. "Wave. I can't imagine what this feels like for you. You must've been in so much pain."
Charm set Arrby down, which Liberty noticed as she then asked about his condition. "What happened to Arrby?"
"He and Sid were captured in the pods on Slash's helicopter." Charm explained, feeling for Arrby's pulse to make sure he was still there. To his relief, he was. "They still have Sid, but at least this time, we know where they're taking him BEFORE the mission."
Liberty struggled to speak up at first, but when she looked at Ryder, she made her request. "We have to go after Sid, Ryder. At least some of us should go."
"We'll save him Liberty. For now, we have to focus on Wave and Arrby's conditions." Ryder told Liberty, who nodded in understanding before looking at Wave and Arrby with immense concern for both of them.
Snow looked down at Wave, praying for her life that she would be okay. She wanted to help her be okay, no matter what it took. And afterwards, she would be sure to talk to her about listening to others. When the time was right of course. "I want to help Marshall. What do you need me to do?"
Marshall tossed Snow the stitches, knowing Liberty would need to get her wound patched up. "Liberty's gonna need stitches. Think you can handle that?"
"Yeah. I think I can manage." Snow answered, knowing that Marshall would also be there in case she needed help. She instantly got to work, even though Liberty started to get nervous when seeing the needle. "It'll be okay Libby. I just need to stitch up your wound. Think you can be brave for me while I do it?" Liberty looked at the needle and thread, and then back at Snow. She nodded after a few seconds of thought, allowing Snow to begin stitching it up. After adjusting her suit of course. "I knew it."
Rocky brainstormed an idea, kneeling down to Marshall as he started to share it with him. "Ya know, there's a little something I could do Marshall." Marshall looked at Rocky, making sure to hold onto Wave's wound while doing so. "But it would be up to Wave."
"Is there a high chance she'll survive?" Marshall asked, and Rocky nodded his head yes to confirm it. "Okay, but I'll need to know what it is before you ask her." Rocky started whispering the idea to Marshall, and everyone else expressed their concerns during this. Claw hugged Sweetie as she expressed her own fear, and Zuma and Charm looked at each other during this. Chase looked at Snow and Liberty, the latter of whom continued to comfort the former. Skye went over to help her as well when she saw this.
Ryder looked at Wave and Arrby as he thought about what needed to be done next. Wave's arm was obviously the biggest road block. But now, they also had to find a way to save Sid. It wouldn't be something to do without a plan. But for now, he would focus on his team; his family. And what Adventure City needed.
The next day.
Wave was waking up in the HQ's hospital room with Marshall, Liberty, and Snow waiting there for her. When she looked at them, she smiled, always being happy to see her allies. "Hi guys." Wave sat up, still being a little woozy. Marshall and Snow kept her sitting down just in case, and Wave put her left paw on her head. "Whoa! Last battle must have taken a lot out of me."
"No kidding! Liberty exclaimed as she jumped up to Wave's bed. However, once she landed, she winced, alerting the others to her stitched up wound still having its effects.
Wave then remembered when she got her stabbed and instantly showed remorse for it. "I'm sorry I got you stabbed Libby. I should've known Slash had a knife on him.
"Oh, that's okay. I agreed to the plan." Liberty said, knowing she had a part in her wound. "I'm more focused on what YOU did. You took off in a hoverboard and shoved a sword into Slash's chest with your teeth! It was super scary, but it also sounded super awesome! How do you do that!?"
Wave laughed a bit, struggling to figure out how she did this herself. "I don't think any answer I could give would be good enough." Wave then realized that her arm was missing. She didn't forget it was cut off, but she also knew it would take some time to adjust to it. She didn't need words to show her mood about it.
Marshall placed a paw on Wave's shoulder, expressing sympathy for her predicament. Wave could also tell how much it broke Marshall's heart to see her with a missing arm. "I'm sorry Wave. That must have been horrible for you."
"It was. But I'll be okay." Wave assured Marshall, knowing he needed the comfort. And then she started thinking about how the others might be hurt too. When she did, she immediately got to worrying about them. "Are the others okay?" Marshall, Snow, and Liberty were touched by Wave's words. But Snow started crying before hugging her in response to them. Wave patted her back with her left arm to help her let it all out. "Let it out Snowflake. I know that mission was hard on all of us."
"No. It's not that." Snow admitted, sniffling a bit before looking at Wave. Wave helped her wipe her tears as she explained what scared her the most. "You got your arm cut off yesterday... and the first thing you're worried about is us." Wave started to realize what Snow was saying, and she wiped her tears again as she continued. "I'm sorry. I know it's selfish of me to express my own worries in your predicament." She sniffled again before looking at Wave. "I just... I just wish you'd take care of yourself as well as you take care of everyone else."
Wave saw how worried Snow was, and Marshall took Snow's paw as he spoke up. "Sorry to rush this Snow, but I'd like to give Wave the choice of what to do about Rocky's idea now."
"Okay." Snow said in understanding, and Wave gave her a loving kiss on her cheek just before Rocky came in. Even after that traumatic experience, Wave was still ready to shower her in love.
When Rocky went over to Wave, he first expressed sympathy for her arm. "Sorry about your arm Wave."
"Hey. Charm told me not to fly in front." Wave pointed out, showing that she'd already started thinking about what Snow said. "I'm just glad everyone's okay."
"Well... we faced some casualties, but we'll address that when it's time." Rocky told Wave, showing her a blueprint for something he'd started working on since yesterday. "After we got back, I started working on a way to give you a new arm!" Wave took the blueprint, getting a good look at what looked like an Automail style arm. The details were very well explained, and Wave seemed to be okay with what she saw. "I already figured out a way to have your meteorite shard transfer power to this new arm too. After I put it on, you should be good to go."
Wave smiled gratefully, glad that Rocky was already on top of things. "Thanks Rocky. It sounds like it'd really come in handy."
Rocky smiled in response, and Snow made a request to Wave after she accepted. "It sounds like a pretty lengthy process. You think we can talk after Rocky finishes?"
"I always have time for you Snowflake!" Wave assured Snow, and then she showed that she knew how serious her feelings were. "Whatever you need to tell me, I'm here."
"Thanks." Snow said, and then she and the others noticed Arrby starting to wake up, moaning a bit as he rubbed his head.
Of course all of them were happy to see him okay. But Liberty was the most relieved of them all. "Arrby!" Liberty hopped down from Wave's bed, but winced after doing so.
"Be careful Libby!" Wave said worridly, and Liberty nodded, carefully heading over to Arrby's bed after that.
Liberty went up to Arrby's bed carefully, and he instantly started hugging him when he looked at her. He was happy to see her, but made it clear he was still adjusting to having woken up. "Okay, just woke up, need a minute." As soon as Liberty backed up, Arrby instantly started thinking about Sid. After thinking about how he was in that pod, he expressed this worry to Liberty. "Sid. Where's Sid?"
Liberty didn't know how to explain Sid's predicament. Marshall walked over to Liberty and Arrby so she wouldn't have to. "Sid was captured by Slash and Victoria." Arrby was heartbroken by this news, and Marshall could tell right away. "We're sorry Arrby. We'll get right to saving him as soon as we can."
"Can't you go right now!?" Arrby asked fearfully, knowing that the Paw Patrol had Slash's location. "You know where his base is now! You can just crash in there and take him!"
"As much as we want to Arrby, it's not that simple." Marshall told Arrby calmly, expressing empathy over his fear of having lost someone he loves. However, Arrby's face dropped again as he thought about what would happen to Sid if he had to wait. "If we rush in there without a plan, Slash and Victoria could kill whoever goes into the base without any trouble. And the city needs us to help it rebuild. I promise we'll save Sid as soon as we can."
Arrby didn't respond. All he could think about was what would happen to Sid. He couldn't even think straight. Liberty started to get worried, just like the others. "Arrby? Are you gonna be okay?"
Arrby looked at Liberty after another thought crossed his mind. This confused Liberty, and when Arrby looked away, he started going down his bed. "I need some space." Arrby went out of the room, leaving Wave and the others concerned for him.
After taking a bit of time to process things after Arrby left, Liberty shared something she wanted to say. "Can we let Arrby stay here? Just until we get Sid back."
"I'm sure Ryder won't mind. I'll ask him when he get back." Marshall responded, but those two, along with Wave, Snow, and Rocky could feel the tense vibe his feelings gave off. Next to Wave, he had to be having the hardest time out of all of them. Sid was captured, and he had to wait before the Paw Patrol had a plan. That had to be hard for him.
A little while later, Snow was having an anxiety attack in hers and Wave's room, pacing back and forth by her window as Everest did what she could to calm her down. Her somewhat fast breathing in between sentences made it evident how she was handling this. "Her arm was cut off. Her arm was actually cut off. One of us finally lost one of our limbs. I still can't believe it." Everest was staying right by the bed, knowing that getting too close would be a bad idea during Snow's current state. "It happened yesterday, and I still can't believe it happened."
Everest wasn't sure what she could say to help Snow in this case. But she knew saying anything would've been better than saying nothing. "I know what you mean Snow. I'm just glad she was able to withstand all that bleeding."
"Oh god, she lost so much blood!" Snow exclaimed, making Everest worry she might've said the wrong thing. "If Marshall didn't have his medical experience, she might've died before we even got back!" Snow's anxiety started to make her nauseous, as shown when she stopped walking and put one of her paws up to her head. "Okay. I think I need to sit down."
"You wanna sit next to me?" Everest offered, patting a spot next to her to help Snow stay calm. Snow was still breathing faster than normal, but sitting next to Everest did help a bit. "Yesterday was... really hard on all of us. I was just as scared as you were when we saw Wave in that condition Snow. You can talk to me if you need to."
Snow's breathing speed didn't slow down, but she was able to express gratitude towards Everest for her comfort attempt. "Thanks Everest. I'm glad I have you for a sister." Everest smiled as Snow requested to hold her paw. When she did, she expressed something else she was worried about. "I always loved Wave's tenacity when it came to helping others. And I still do. But at the same time... I wish she would look after herself as well as she does those she protects."
"I'm sure she'll listen if you tell her." Everest assured Snow, who nodded in agreement before Everest spoke up again. "Once she has her new arm, you can tell her as much as you want. And if you want a third party, I'll be there."
"Yeah. Thanks." Snow said, calming down just a bit more thanks to Everest. "Is it bad that a part of me wanted to punch her over that move?"
"Well, kind of. But at least you didn't act on it." Everest answered, patting Snow's back as she helped her anxiety finish settling down.
Marshall was heading over to Chase and Skye's room, holding a look of remorse. At the same time, Amy, who arrived with hers and Skye's parents yesterday, met him in the hallway. "Hey Amy."
"Hey Marshall. How're you holding up?" Amy asked, knowing Marshall must be going through a lot right now. "It can't be easy knowing your sister's arm was cut off."
"You have no idea." Marshall responded, and then he addressed why he was going to Chase and Skye's room. "Actually, I needed a word with Chase about something else I've been worried about. Since Rocky's working on Wave right now, I figured now was a good time to address it."
Amy stood back after hearing that, knowing this would be an important discussion. "You can have as much privacy as you need."
Marshall smiled gratefully before entering the room after knocking, and Chase gave the go ahead. "It's open!"
When Marshall entered the room, he addressed Chase and Skye in his usual friendly manner. "Hey Chase. Hey Skye."
"Hey Marshall. What's going on?" Chase asked, and that was when Marshall looked at Skye.
"Skye. Is it okay if Chase and I talk alone?" Marshall requested, and Chase already had a good idea on what it was about.
Skye kissed the right side of Chase's cheek so she didn't risk hurting his burn mark before heading out. "I'll be right back."
Skye left the room after giving a thumbs up to Marshall. And when she did, Chase sat down on the side of his bed, allowing Marshall to sit next to him as he got to the point. "Let me guess. You wanted to talk about my new burn marks."
"Um... yeah." Marshall admitted, starting to get overwhelmed as he thought about what he did to Chase. Even though it was an accident, he still felt horrible for causing his burn marks at all. "I am so, sorry Chase. I should've been more careful with my fireballs. If I waited until Victoria wasn't holding you, I wouldn't have hit you."
Chase wrapped his arm around Marshall to show him that he wasn't upset about what happened. "It was a crazy situation. And it's not like Victoria made it easy for you to aim."
"Yeah, but I've had these powers for months. I shouldn't have made an error like that." Marshall stated, feeling he should've been able to avoid hitting Chase under those circumstances. "It wasn't one of my usual klutz moments where I crash into you guys or something. Those burn marks are permanent."
Chase pulled Marshall in some more, surprising him before he smiled and gave his own take. Starting with some words of assurance. "So is our friendship." Chase then gave his perspective on the situation after letting Marshall sit back up. "Just view this as a learning experience. One that tells you what can happen in battle, whether or not it's in our control." Chase offered his paw to Marshall for their signature paw shake as he wrapped it up. "Sixteen years of taking mistakes so hard has taught me that sometimes, we just have to do better next time."
Marshall took a few seconds to think over Chase's words, and his smile showed that he took it the way Chase intended. "Then that's exactly what I'll do." Chase and Marshall did their signature paw shake after that. Despite how awful Marshall felt about Chase's burn marks, he'd hoped that Chase would be as forgiving as he ended up being. Even after the intense battle, and Sid getting captured, the two of them were still the best of friends. Hopefully next time though, Marshall wouldn't hit Chase with a fire ball.
Arrby was sitting by himself in the garage, looking up at the meteor that gave Wave and the others their meteorite power shards. He kept thinking about the moment Liberty touched the meteor and caused the shards to spread. A flashback showing him trying to stop her was also shown to emphasize what Arrby was thinking about. He didn't want to think that way. He didn't want to blame Liberty. But the more he thought about it, the more he felt it made the most sense to him. If Liberty hadn't touched the meteor, Victoria wouldn't have had her powers.
It was Victoria's powers that helped her be such a reliable asset to Slash during the last two battles. And the powers of the Paw Patrol were replicated through Humdinger's Humding-Armor according to Snow and Claw. Everything tied back to Liberty touching that meteor. Arrby couldn't stop thinking that if Liberty didn't touch the meteor, things might've been fine. The more he thought about it... the more angry and desperate he got. Only he knew what he was going to do when he used his powers to grab a wrench.
Coral was creating a soothing melody through her humming, which she thanked Zuma for helping her synchronize before she started. "Thanks for helping me with this song Zuma. My humming along with your guitar playing should do a great job at helping soothe everyone's stress."
"I'm always happy to show my love for music. Especially when it's to help my fwiends." Zuma stated happily, and then he confessed another reason he was doing this. "I know it'll help Melody too. I know she wasn't involved in yestewday's mission, but she's an empathetic kid. She has to have picked up on how the west of us feel."
"Then let's hope your family gets back soon so they can hear it." Coral replied, turning on the microphone and giving Zuma the cue to start playing. When he did, Coral started humming into the microphone. She couldn't come up with the right lyrics just yet, but if her experiences taught her anything, it's that a soothing hum was enough to calm anyone's nerves. Sharing her beautiful voice with PupLantis was probably the only good thing she did for them from the start. And she was more than happy that she got to continue doing that as their Queen.
Zuma's guitar and Coral's voice worked incredibly well in sync. Zuma had the thought of them performing a duet at some point. When Coral finished recording what she wanted for now, she turned off the microphone, which prompted Zuma to finish strumming. "That should be good for our first test. Let's see how it played out."
"You'we the boss!" Zuma exclaimed, going over the recording controls and let himself and Coral listen to how the start of their recording did. It didn't surprise either of them to see that their recording was synchronized amazingly. Zuma's guitar playing and Coral's humming did so well together. They could only imagine what could happen by the time Coral was able to come up with real lyrics to sing. The two smiled when looking at each other, considering this to be a good start to their current goal.
Claw and Charm were in Charm's weapon crafting room, where Charm was crafting a fire branded blade while reading a dragon book. Claw noticed how Charm was turning the pages while hitting the sword when he needed to. Despite the measures Charm took to make sure the book didn't get singed, he wondered how Charm was able to do that. "You seem pretty confident you won't hit the book."
"I've done this before." Charm told Claw, hitting the sword again at just the right time before reading some more of the book. One page showed the two dragon love interests spending the day together. The male was planning to ask the female out, and Charm snickered a bit with his own two cents. "Oh, you've got no chance buddy."
Claw took notice to the fire heating up on the sword and thought about how Charm could use it against the demons. "Maybe you should use this sword during the next demon attack."
"If I can get it finished the way I want it, that's the plan." Charm assured Claw, hitting the sword again to continue his work. "In hindsight, I should've used one of my augmentation enhanced weapons to fight during yesterday's mission. And not just because of how useful it would've been." Charm hit the sword one last time before giving a crazy smile to Claw, who could feel how he felt about hurting the demons with his enhanced weapons. "Just thinking about the demons burning from my blade is as cathartic as it is to swing my knife!"
After a couple seconds, Claw laughed a bit before commenting on Charm's desires as Charm got back to his sword. "Just be careful not to hit anyone else while you're at it." Charm gave an assuring nod before giving another smack to his sword.
Rocky was screwing in the last bolt of the automail arm for Wave. When he was done, he let Wave get a look at her arm while announcing his completion. "You're all set Wave! Your automail arm is now a part of your body!" Wave got a good look at her arm, which was easy enough to bend and stretch. Marshall, Snow, and Everest were there too, and Marshall offered his paw to let Wave test grabbing it. She did as Marshall gestured, and surely enough, she was able to hold his paw. "It took four hours to make sure it was only rough when you activated your powers."
Wave smiled before looking at Rocky, knowing she was going to like her new arm. "It'll take some getting used to compared to my old arm, but I like it so far. Thanks Rocky."
Rocky gave a thumbs up to Wave, and Snow then addressed what she and Wave talked about earlier. "Do you want to test out your new arm before we talk Wave?"
Wave knew this talk was important, so she decided to wait on testing out her arm in other ways for now. "No, we can talk first. I have plenty of time to start working on doing everything I did before with this bad girl."
"In that case, I'll leave you all be for now. I'm sure Marshall and Everest want to be a part of this too." Rocky stated, giving Wave some more advice for before he left. "Oh, and I added a self cleaning feature on there too. So you don't have to worry about it getting rusty. Just remember to come to me when you eventually outgrow it and need a new one."
Wave gave a thumbs up with her new arm, despite knowing it would take years for that to happen. Once Rocky left, Marshall started rubbing Wave's arm to get a good feel of it. It still unsettled him a bit to think about how she lost her old one. "It's so... different. It's like I'm touching metal."
Wave touched her arm as well, getting a similar feeling to what Marshall did. "Yeah. Way different from skin." Wave wasn't doing it to dismiss Marshall's concerns, but she knew Snow wanted to talk about something important. "Let's focus on that later. I did promise Snow we'd talk."
Wave took Snow's paw to help her get started. Snow wasn't sure how exactly to start it off. "Before we do... I'm guessing you already have an idea what I want to talk about?"
"Yeah. I think it has a lot to do with why I needed this new arm." Wave answered, knowing the exact moment Snow was talking about.
Snow nodded her head yes, and Wave allowed her to get started on talking about her feelings. "Don't take this the wrong way Wave. I love everything about you. Your infectious joy, your unbreakable tenacity, your big heart that drives you to help as many people as you can; I can't name a single thing that doesn't make me love you." Wave noticed Snow's face drop, and Everest placed a paw on her shoulder to help her. Snow brought up what made that happen so Wave would understand. "But I think your tenacity is as dangerous as it is helpful."
Wave let Snow's words sync in for a bit. What happened yesterday gave her a lot to think about. "I'm starting to see that myself. If I listened to Rocky and let him and Charm take the lead, things might've turned out differently."
"Exactly." Snow replied, putting her paw over Wave's, feeling the automail on her fur when she did. The new feeling heightened what Snow was thinking. "You're always rushing into danger to save those stuck in it, even after you learned to plan before you act after Prison City." Wave looked back on the moments Snow was referring to when she continued. "Whether you planned ahead like during Jake's Mountain, or you were the only one fast enough to stop the bad guy like with Miranda, or if you went in head first, like in Prison City, you always got hurt."
Marshall placed a paw on Wave's shoulder, sensing that she was thinking hard about everything Snow was saying. "I know it's our job to put other peoples' safety above our own. And obviously, I'm not saying you should stop doing that." Wave looked at Snow, who looked into her eyes and let her know that she wanted the best for her. "All I'm asking is for you to learn when you HAVE to do it. Because I know there are those moments where we won't have a choice."
Marshall put his own two cents into the mix to help Wave better understand. "You also made a good point about what Rocky said before you took off on the hoverboard. Regardless of how well you mean, you don't really listen to anyone else Wave." Wave's heart started to sink after hearing that. Luckily, Marshall clarified what he tried to say. "We know you aren't devaluing out words or anything like that. It's just that, everyone has their own ideas on how to get things done. And sometimes, the best idea is to wait for a call to be made.
Wave looked back on every major battle she partook in up until now. Prison City, Jake's Mountain, Charm's Wolfland base, the battle against Miranda, and now... Slash chopping her arm off. And that wasn't all of it. Even after she learned to think things through, Wave was always letting her desire to save everyone drive what she did. She looked at her arm again, and it told her that she had to work on that. She didn't have to become less determined. She just had to learn how to manage it.
"I'm sorry." Wave apologized sincerely, leading to Marshall hugging Wave so she would have some comfort during her thoughts. "You're right. I have to work on listening to you guys, and managing my determination. And also to make sure I don't regress back to how I was when I saved Alex."
"I think your powers stopped that from happening." Everest chimed in, making an attempt to help Wave feel better about this. "Your meteorite shard gave you a big power boost, which made you feel more confident you could handle what was thrown at you. So in a way, you were still planning. And your new power was what lead those plans."
Wave appreciated Everest's point of view, despite seeing a flaw she may or may not have considered. "Thanks Everest, but I think we can all agree that relying solely on my new power is reckless."
Ryder was shown entering the room as Everest replied to that. "It might be. But that's how I see it."
"Hey guys." Wave and the others looked at Ryder, who addressed his absence from the room. "Sorry I couldn't check on you sooner Wave. Those preparations for repairing the city took a lot more time than I thought."
"That's okay. The city faced a lot of damage that needs attention." Wave said, knowing the Paw Patrol had a lot of things to focus on.
Wave let Ryder get a look at her new arm. When he inspected it, he made an offer to help Wave get more used to it. "You want me to help you get used to your new arm?"
"That'd be great!" Wave exclaimed, and then she said something that showed Marshall, Snow, and Everest that she was taking the talk seriously. "Let's start off small for now. I think I'll need at least a week before I can even lift up a dumbbell at HALF my power." Marshall rubbed Wave's head with Snow kissing her cheek, and Everest smiled. Wave was smiling as well, glad that she had this talk with the three of them.
Liberty was taking the elevator down to the garage, wanting to check up on Arrby, since he hadn't come up no matter how much he was called. "Arrby! Are you still down here!?" Liberty was amazed by what she saw; so much so that she only had one word. "Whoa."
Arrby was working on one of the backup helicopters Ryder had planned for Skye. It was just about finished when he looked at Liberty. "Oh. Hey Liberty."
Liberty failed to see that Arrby was holding in his anger. When she approached him, she shared concern about what he was doing. "Are you okay? What's with the helicopter?"
"I'm fine. And I'm using the helicopter to track down Slash." Arrby explained, and then he threw in a tracking device he stole from Ryder with his powers. "And no, you can't come with me."
Liberty knew what Arrby was getting himself into and tried to convince him not to go. "Arrby, please. Marshall said we'll go after Sid as soon as we can."
"I can't wait Liberty! I need Sid back now!" Arrby exclaimed, raising his voice a bit as he did and startling Liberty as he turned to face her.
Despite being startled, Liberty continued trying to convince Arrby to stay. "Arrby. You know I don't like being yelled at." What Liberty said next made Arrby tense up even more. "We both know it's a bad idea to go into Slash's base alone." He clenched his fists as Liberty continued. "He could use us as bait, or even kill us." And before Liberty could finish... "And after what happened yesterday, we can't just rush in and-"
"Oh you're one to talk!" Arrby snapped, making Liberty flinch again, and even back up a bit. "It's your fault they got Sid in the first place!"
That confused Liberty, but also hurt her. How could she have caused Sid's capture. "What?"
"I told you not to touch the meteor Liberty!" Arrby explained, believing that's what eventually led to Sid's capture. "If you didn't cause the shards to fly out, Victoria wouldn't have had her power, and Slash might not have been able to capture Sid! Your impulsiveness kickstarted Slash's army capturing my best friend!"
Liberty was trying not to cry as she struggled to find the right words to say. "Arrby. I..." Arrby hopped into the helicopter, closing the door with Liberty running up to him to try and stop him. "Arrby, I'm sorry! Please don't go! I don't want to lose you!"
Arrby looked down at Liberty, who had a pleading look all over her face. Arrby brushed it off after responding to her plea in anger and dismissal. "You'll be fine." Arrby looked ahead, giving his parting words to Liberty before he started the propellers. "You still have your reason for living."
Due to Liberty's knife wound, she couldn't risk opening her gash by jumping up to the helicopter door. She simply watched as Arrby took off, the gusts pushing her back a bit as she did. Zuma and Coral were still in the living room during this, and they saw Arrby take off. Liberty watched with tears streaming down her face. She couldn't believe it. The Canine she liked was leaving on a suicide mission to save Sid. Did he really have that little faith in the Paw Patrol? Whatever was causing Arrby's shift in thinking... Liberty's cry to him said everything on her end.
"ARRBY!"
Liberty broke down crying after her call to Arrby echoed throughout the city. It reached Arrby, who ignored the feeling he got from it. He had to focus on saving Sid, no matter the cost.
To be continued.
Dramatic music started playing as Charm started talking about what was going to happen with specific moments from the next chapter being shown. "Should've known the pirate Dachshund wouldn't just sit and wait for his owner to be rescued. Looks like I'm headed back to Slash's base of doom. I'll have to be stealthier, since there's a life outside of a team member's on the line this time. At least we can get there at the same pace, since Arrby didn't steal Skye's current helicopter."
Charm finished the announcement with the words Paw Patrol in all blue with red outlines surrounded with a white border with Wave on the right, and Marshall on the left. "Next time, Saving The Pirated Canine!" Arrby was shown finding Sid's base, ignoring the fact that the lights found him while zoning in close. "First Wave's arm gets cut off, Liberty gets stabbed, and Chase gets burned, and now Arrby left on a suicide mission."
