NOTES: I know. I know. I have been MIA for a long time, I know. There's a good reason for that.
Everyone who follows me knows I use fanfiction to improve my writing skills in english cause it used to suck and I can only learn another language by myself (my brain is weird) and IT WORKED. Why? Cause I was able to identify all mistakes in all my stories, and it annoyed me so much, I had to fix them all. There are A LOT of stories (I'll never again publish stuff without revising it) and it took me forever, but I did it YAY typos might still happen cause I type really fast and I have anxiety and I'm hyperactive, I'll try my best to correct them lol).
So now my brain seems to want to compensate u all cause I started having a bunch of ideas, and here I am with a new chapter.
Good news:This will be a CROSSOVER starting in this collection, it will continue in Elseworlds Collection and it will end on Scarlet-Canary Collection.
IMPORTANT: This 2-part story is AU: They are all in the same Earth, all Legends went home, Sara and Ava broke up and Sara went back to Star City, to help Team Arrow but she stays at her mom's in Central City sometimes, Barry is single and Lena knows everything. And yes, part 1 is now in October, I want to have time to finish it before Xmas and the sequels ^^
btw: people who left a review recently, I SEE YOU, I loved the ideas and I will try to organize better to write more prompts after this 2-part, the sequels of it, the new chapter I thought of...I swear, thanks for commenting
.
Chapter Summary: This year's Xmas story (part of the Emerald-Steel Collection because is focused on Kara and Oliver, but we have more couples on it )
.
79. Holidays and Heartbreak PART 1
Kara rushed through the crowd to get to the auditorium of LCorp, knowing she was a bit late for the press conference Lena scheduled for the day. She just hoped she didn't miss anything important and felt a huge relief when she got to her seat and noticed it was just about to start. She was grateful that Lena invited her, so she could write about it for CatCo Magazine. Everyone was talking about the big news L Corp was about to announce, that this would be huge, so she was glad for the opportunity to be there, but all her joy suddenly vanished once she saw who was on stage with Lena.
"For Rao" She thought, trying to stay calm as she noticed Oliver Queen's pair of eyes looking at her.
She tried to keep her attention on what Lena was saying but it was too damn hard. "Try harder" she thought as she started taking notes.
- Is my pleasure to announce that L Corp just bought Queen Consolidated and brought it back to life after Isabel Rochev sank the company a few years ago - She teased, making a few people laugh - And I couldn't be happier to announce that we are starting a new business partnership that I believe it will benefit everyone.
- I'm glad to be part of this project with the right billionaire boss lady, this time around – Oliver joked, making a few people laugh.
- So this means you're once again a billionaire, Mr. Queen? – A woman with brown hair and way too much make-up, as Kara noticed, stood up raising her hand. – What does this mean for your personal life?
Kara recognized who that was and felt nausea all out of sudden.
- Well, I got the Queen Mansion back, so let's see what happens… - Oliver teased and once again his eyes met Kara's. – And my personal life stays personal, thank you very much.
Kara spent the rest of the conference taking notes, quiet, noticing Oliver's eyes on her from time to time. Shewas the first to leave after the event ended and met Lena in the Hall.
- I'm so glad you could make it. I hope you got everything you needed for the story – Lena said as she hugged Kara.
- Yes, I got… way more than I needed – Kara said as she adjusted her glassed, feeling a bit nervous to see Oliver was coming in their direction. – So… You guys are business partners now, that's…cool.
- You know that after you, Oliver is one of my best friends so it's a joy to be able to work together and recover his company…That now is mine – Lena joked as she stared at Oliver – But it's ok, you can still be the CEO.
- Its ok, I'm happy with that – Oliver said as he stared at Kara, not knowing what to say and trrying his best to keep it cool. – So… Kara, is nice to see you, how are you?
- I'm great. I'm just more than great, I'm spectacularly fine – Kara said, smiling nervously, not quite knowing what to say or what to do.
There was a weird vibe going on around them, as Lena noticed. She was about to say something when that woman from before, that annoyed the hell out of Kara approached them, smiling.
- I was hoping to get the opportunity to ask you a few more questions, Mr. Queen, I hope you have some time in your schedule for me – She smiled, touching Oliver's shoulder. – Maybe we can have a drink, catch up…
Kara rolled her eyes, checking her phone to see if there were any important messages from her Super team or work.
- If you hadn't wasted your time playing the gold digger instead of acting like a real journalist, maybe you would have gotten what you wanted during the conference, like an actual serious journalist like the rest of us – Kara said, putting her notebook and cell phone inside her purse and smiling at everyone, ignoring the woman's offended expression – Always nice to see you, Susan! If you excuse me, I have important things to do, you know… Serious journalist stuff… because I have an actual job… Excuse me.
Kara turned around and walked away so fast, there was no time for Lena to ask anything or Oliver to say something. He stared at the woman by his side, not feeling in the mood to talk to her or anyone else at the moment.
- I... I have to go now. – He said, with annoyance in his voice. – Lena we'll catch up later, ok? – She nodded and he left.
Kara kept walking away, feeling the anger taking over her. She couldn't believe that woman's audacity. Susan Williams was a journalist from Star City that Kara couldn't stand. She was always trying to seduce people to get what she wanted instead of acting professional; it was insulting that people actually considered her a professional journalist. She needed to calm down, take a time off and she knew exactly what could help her.
Kara rushed home, quick change d into Supergirl and flew high in the sky. There was nothing better than flying alone, feeling the wind in her face, away from everyone and all the city noise. It was everything she needed to relax and think about life. She closed her eyes and her mind traveled far away. She remembered when she met all her Super friends when Dominators tried to conquer Earth. She remembered all their good times together, and she felt that old sensation slowly taking over her, the one thing she didn't want to think about. She fought against her brain, to not think about him but her memories insisted on bringing her back to that night.
FLASHBACK
- LOOK OUT! – Oliver yelled at Diggle as he fought one huge guy, hitting him with his bow.
Diggle moved fast, hiding behind a pillar, shooting at the guy who tried to attack him from behind.
Another guy reached Oliver's back, and managed to cut Oliver's shoulder and chest, Oliver rolled on the floor, kicking the guy and making him fall. The criminal was about to shoot Oliver when a whoosh of air came in fast, throwing the guy away.
- Supergirl! – Diggle said as he knocked out two more guys.
Kara used her super speed to knock down all the criminals that were still standing all at once. She grabbed a rope and tied them all together.
- You just need to call 911 – She said, smiling at Diggle. She turned around and walked towards Oliver. – Can you tell me why you sent me away? I told you I was going to help you.
- There was no need and you had more important things to do…
- I know Barry asked for my help, but it took me like 5 minutes, you should have let me come and help! I'm glad Diggle called – She said – And don't you dare fight Diggle over this, I told him if things got ugly, he should call me. You are just too stubborn to accept that sometimes you need help!
Kara grabbed Oliver, helping him stand, and with Diggle, they went back to the bunker. There was no one else there, so they rushed to help Oliver with the cut on his shoulder and abs. Kara grabbed the first aid kid and helped Oliver get rid of his jacket and mask.
- My sister taught me a few things… - She said as she helped clean the wounds. – Stay still – She ordered and Oliver obeyed.
- Do you guys need anything else? – Diggle said, noticing the weird vibe between them – I'll head home, Lyla's waiting…
- Its ok Dig, thanks for your help. I'll call if anything happens. – Kara said.
Diggle nodded and left them alone in the bunker. Oliver hissed as Kara cleaned his wounds, adding the bandages. She pushed him to sit on a chair.
- You could've died!
- I didn't.
- But you could have! Rao, you're so stubborn… - Kara said, finishing her work.
- Thank you – Oliver said in a low voice. – And I'm sorry.
Kara stopped and stared at Oliver. It was rare to hear him say the word "sorry", so she was shocked to hear it in that moment. Her hand rested on his shoulder and she gave him a tiny smirk.
- See? It doesn't hurt to apologize – She teased. – How are you feeling now?
- I'm feeling like I'm done being alone – He said bluntly, catching Kara by surprise.
They stared at each other for a few seconds and Kara felt her cheeks burning. She was about to turn around when Oliver held her hand, getting up and standing just a few inches from her.
- What about you? – He asked, staring deeply into her eyes.
Suddenly Kara felt like the bunker was really warm, and she started to feel nervous but couldn't move or look away. She felt his hands holding her by the waist and she took a few steps forward, closing the distance between them. Her hand grabbed the hair on his neck and they moved at the same time, reaching for each other's lips, kissing in a passionate way that almost took Kara's breath away. All the tension between them from the past few months was finally collapsing. Oliver guided Kara towards the mat on the floor, his body covering hers as their kiss deepened. It wasn't long until all pieces of their suits were thrown away and they could finally feel the warmth of each other's bodies as its fullest.
The next day, Oliver woke up covered in an old sheet, alone in the mattress he kept in the bunker if he ever needed to spend the night. He looked around and saw a note by his side. He grabbed and read it. It was a message from Kara saying she had to go back to National City to stop an attack to the Children's Hospital by Morgan Edge and that they would catch up later.
END OF FLASHBACK
They didn't see each other again after that.
Kara opened her eyes, remembering how both their lives became chaotic. She remembered Barry telling her about the crazyness team Arrow was dealing with the last time Supergirl teamed up with Team Flash. They couldn't even help because they were also with their hands full and just like that, 6 months has passed by.
Kara flew, remembering how it took a long time before she was able to finally stop by Star City and visit Queen Consoilidated. She was determined to meet Oliver and talk about what happened, she wasn't sure about anything, she felt confused and felt like a bucket of ice soaked her from head to toe when she stopped near Oliver's office and saw him and that despicable journalist kissing him. Kara turned around making sure he didn't notice she was there and just left. Kara thought about how she got the answers she needed just like that. That night was a huge mistake, it probably meant nothing to him and he seemed to have moved on so she decided to do the same until she saw him again, at the conference, when Susan was throwing herself at him and Kara had a sudden wish to throw that woman in space.
Kara landed a few blocks from home, tracking a few bad guys she listened from far away. She was on the mood of punching criminals and that's what she did. Her phone rang and she grabbed it, noticing it was a call from Lena.
- Hey, Lena. Is everything ok?
- You tell me, you rushed away so fast I couldn't even say a proper good bye. Is everything ok?
- Yeah… I just needed to clear my head for a while.
- I'm stopping by your place, are you home?
- I am now – Kara said as she rushed to her place, making sure no one saw her.
Kara changed back to her regular clothes and grabbed a piece of pizza that was on her fridge. Lena knew about her being Supergirl for almost a year now, but Kara still had to be careful so people wouldn't find out her secret if she was seen by anyone as Supergirl, at Kara Danvers loft. Lena knocked and Kara opened the door for her, offering pizza.
- I already ate, thank you. I wanted to stop by to make sure you're ok. I was really worried.
- Thank you for worrying, Lena, you're a good friend. But I swear Im' fine.
- Funny, your eyes tells me something different.
Lena and Kara sat at the couch and Lena stared worried at Kara, knowing something was off and Kara knew Lena was too smart for her to fool with some lame excuse.
- I just… I can't stand that Susan…
- Why? I mean, I don't like her that much either, but… I also noticed the vibe was kind of weird between you and Oliver… Did anything happen?
- Sort of…
Kara decided to just mention on the surface that she had this moment with Oliver, life happened and 6 months later Susan was all over him and he seemed ok with that.
- I mean, is not like we talked or anything afterwards, but… He could have said something… You know?
- Yeah, that wasn't cool of him… But, did you ever talk about it? Did you ask him about her?
- No, I didn't see the point. That night was clearly a mistake. He must be happy with her jumping him every chance she gets, he loves this kind of attention.
- Ouch… - Lena said – See, after Felicity, I've noticed Oliver changed a lot… I'm not taking his side, by the way, but I do think you two should talk.
The doord opened and Clak entered, greeting Kara and Lena. Kara got up and hugged her cousin.
- You're staying this time? She asked after letting him go
- Yes, I am. I had to take care of a few things at the Planet. But I'll stay for a while, I needed some time off.
Lena got up also hugging Clark and they were about to sit down when a breach opened with Oliver and Barry coming out of it.
- Hi guys, sorry to come in like this… We share the same Earth now but extrapolators are still useful for emergencies.– Barry said awkwardly after greeting everyone.
One year ago they faced a huge challenge, a crisis that caused Earth 38 and Earth 1 to merge, along with a few others and a new multiverse was born. For Kara it was still something to get used to, there were such huge changes in the world she knew, she felt like she would never get 100% used to it.
Lena noticed Kara nodding with her head barely able to stare at Oliver, while her mind seemed to be far away.
- So… We need your help – Barry said
- I told Barry we could deal with it but…
- Basically Amazo and a red robot teamed up to destroy the city and I finally convinced Oliver it was time to ask for help…
- Sure, of course we'll help – Kara said as she changed into Supergirl really fast, being followed by Clark.
Barry smiled excitedly at them and Oliver stared at him with his "calm down" face. Lena got up, offering her help too. She has worked with the geeks of all teams before and it was a huge success, Lena showed them all she was more than just a billionaire lady wanting to get away from family trauma.
- Sure, everyone misses working with you – Barry commented, smiling at Lena
- Especially Cisco… He's a fan – Oliver teased, making Lena laugh
- So… Shall we? – Kara asked and Barry opened the breach again.
This was truly the fastest way to reach different cities in one day, Kara thougt after following them through the wormhole back to Star Labs.
At the bunker in Star City, Thea and Diggle trained together while Oliver went with Barry to National City. After a few quick moves Thea learned recently, she sat down on the floor, tired. Diggle grabbed his phone, noticing a new message from Oliver.
- Barry's coming to get us, they need our help too. Clark and Kara are already on Star Labs.
- Clark? – Thea asked – He's back?
- Apparently… Why?
- Nothing – Thea said, trying to disguise her smile – I thought he was back to Metropolis…
- I don't know what happened, but he's there…
- Ok, I'll just…grab my things.
Thea went to change and grabbed her things as they waited for Barry. It was a really long distance from Star City to Central City so the device they used to travel before the Earths merged was really helpful but sadly Cisco wasn't able to make more, for whatever reason, she thought. As they waited, Thea remembered the day they all got together, before the Earths merging, and she met Kara and Clark.
FLASHBACK
Team Arrow, Team Flash, Team Legends, HR, Felicity and Cisco all waited for Barry to come back with the alien that would help them. Once the breach opened and Barry came out of it being followed by a blonge girl wearing a red skirt and a cape, and a really handsome brunette guy with deep green eyes, a red and blue suit and a red cape, Thea felt like she had lost the ability of speaking. She imagined something so different; it was a shock to her that they looked so human.
- Barry, I thought you were bringing aliens to help us – Oliver said, looking really suspicious.
- Well, guys… These are Kara Danvers and Clark Kent, or as they're known in their Earth, Supergirl and Superman.
- And what makes them so Super? – Jax asked, making everyone stare curiously at Kara and Clark.
Barry stared at his friends, nodding with his head. Kara and Clark both flew high, and stood like they were floating. Kara used some lasers coming off her eyes to draw a symbol on the ground and Clark moved so fast, it was impossible to keep track of him. He went to a Star Labs van and lifted it as if it was a piece of paper.
- I'm convinced – Diggle said in awe, not able to move from shock.
After a while, they were training with Clark and Kara attacking them, so they could be ready to face the Dominators. Thea tried to move quickly but felt a strong wind coming in her direction and she was thrown away across the room. Before she could hit the wall, she felt a pair of strong hands holding her.
- I'm sorry, that was too much… - She noticed Clark staring worried at her, making sure she didn't get any scratch. – I told Oliver this would be messy…
- It's ok, I'm ok – Thea smiled as Clark helped her stand – We need to be ready…
- We just met; I don't want to hurt anyone by accident… Are you sure you're ok?
- Yes, I am thanks. – Thea smiled, impressed with Clark's care and attention.
Sara was thrown away near Thea; she rolled on the floor and quickly jumped, getting up. Clark flew back up, resuming the training. Sara looked up and took a deep breath to recover.
- Ok, she's hot! – Sara said going once again after Supergirl.
- Yeah… he is – Thea said, not able to take her eyes from Clark. – Cute and hot – She said as she walked back to the middle of the room to keep training.
END OF FLASHBACK
Clark, Kara, Sara, Cisco, Caitlin, Ray, Thea, Diggle and Lena gathered at Star Labs cortex, waiting for Barry and Oliver to explain what was happening.
- Is everyone here? – Oliver asked, looking around the room
- Legends were disbanded after our final mission, so it's just Ray and I this time – Sara explained.
- And me! – Mick said as he got in Star Labs, making Sara look surprised – Haircut called me, I love roasting robots!
- Alex told me she misses you all, but she has a lot to do back at the DEO – Kara said and Barry nodded. – She'll come next time.
- I'm glad you could join us, Mick – Barry said – So… - He turned and looked at everyone – We have a huge problem in our hands. Amazo is back…
- And a red robot is helping him destroy the city, so we need all hands on deck for this one. – Oliver completed.
- Wait… - Kara said as she looked closer at the images Barry showed them at the huge screen. – This is Red Tornado! – She looked worried at Clark.
- We need to be careful, the last time Kara faced it she lost her powers temporally. – Clark explained – The same could happen to me.
- We can divide and conquer – Thea said – Supergirl and Superman and a few of us go deal with Amazon and the rest deals with Red Tornado.
- Just please be careful because if Amazo touches Kara or Clark, we're basically screwed – Cisco said – It will copy their powers.
- I go help Skirt and Pants – Mick said – Haircut and and red Robin Hood come with me. Frosty, Boss, Speedy and Robin Hood go deal with the red robot! Geeks stay here with the nice rich lady using their brain. We got this – He stared casually at them as he grabbed a sandwich from his pocket and had a bite.
Everyone else stared at each other.
- Oh…Kay, let's go! – Oliver said – Oh and I almost forgot and Barry too… They are being controlled by a telepathic Gorilla named Grodd. Suit up!
Lena stared at Kara in shock, processing the information as she stared at Caitlin and Cisco that just nodded at her with a "just one more day in the office" look in their faces.
- I'm confused…I'm Speedy – Thea whispered to Barry.
- You're red Robin Hood now, apparently – Barry said, rushing to suit up
Lena smiled to Caitlin and Cisco as they organized who was helping who as the teams left for the mission.
- Wait a minute – Lena said as she turned to Kara – I just remembered I brought something, just in case… - Lena said as she gave her a device Kara knew way too well. She turned to Clark, smiling apologetic – I'm sorry, if I knew I would've built one for you too…
- Whats… - Sara was about to ask when they saw Kara put the device in her chest and press it.
A blue beautiful armor appeared, covering Kara from head to toe.
- Ok, this is genius! – Cisco said as he hugged Lena, catching her by surprise. – I'm sorry – He said, blushing and letting her go.
- I've built this to protect Kara when some lunatics filled the air with Kryptonite…
- This is amazing, Lena – Sara said, admiring the whole suit.
- One less issue to care about, great, let's go! – Kara said, as they split up to go after Amazo and Red Tornado.
Mick, Kara, Clark, Ray and Thea went after Amazo near Mercury Labs. Mick was excited to get to use his heat gun to melt Amazo but it turned out it wasn't that easy. Kara was fully protected so she was able to attack more, with Ray's help.
- I've got your back, he won't get near you – Thea said as she stood close to Clark to prevent Amazo from getting near Clark while he used his powers against the thing.
- Thank you, Thea – Clark smiled, flying at a safe distance, but close enough so his powers could reach Amazo.
Ray tried to shrink and attack it from the inside, but almost got knocked out by Amazo's punch. Kara flew in front of Ray, stopping Amazo from hitting him.
- Thanks, Supergirl!
- Behind you! – Kara said out loud, preventing Ray from getting slapped.
- I know now how a moskito feels! Not cool…
- Focus, Ray! – Kara said combining her super strength with Clark's powers while Thea helped prevent Amazo from touching Clark.
Mick surrounded Amazo, hitting him with fire and all of their attacks together, managed to take Amazo down. He was about to fall over Thea but Clark acted fast, grabbing her by the waist and flying with her away from Amazo. Clark lost his balance and both rolled down on the ground. They stopped abruptly after hitting a wall, with their faces inches from each other.
- I'm sorry… - Clark said, taking some of her hair off her face gently.
- It's ok… Thanks for the save – Thea smilled and Clark got up awkwardly, helping her to get up.
Clark checked to see if Thea had any bruises and saw a small cut on her right cheek.
- You have a cut – He said and she touched her cheeks – It's superficial, but it needs to be clean so it won't get infected… Wait here.
Clark rushed to Mercury Labs and came back with a tissue and some band-aids, helping Thea take care of that cut. She waited for him to finish it, feeling warmth in her heart. When they met and fought the Dominators, Thea remembered Clark acting the same way, so worried and with such care, it made her wish there were more guys like him out there. Sadly, it wasn't the case and she kept wondering when they were going to team up again just so she could see him and that gorgeous hypnotic green eyes he had.
Mick rushed to fire his gun at Amazo to make sure it was really down.
- Fry your idiot! – He said, enjoying the view of Amazo catching fire
- I think that's enough, Mick, thank you – Thea said, tapping her comms – Hey guys, we took Amazo down, what about the others?
- They're…fine – Lena said in a worried voice. – I think…
Killer Frost tried to block one attack and Barry attacked Red Tornado back after Sara fell to the ground hurt after being hit. She had a bruised eyebrown, a cut on the corner of her lips and felt a bit of pain on her shoulder as she tried to get up. Barry did his best to create a huge lightning and threw it at the red robot, knocking it down for good.
- Barry just knocked Red Tornado out throwing a lightning at that thing as if it was nothing – Oliver said, still staring impressed at Barry – We'll be there in a minute.
- What about Grodd? Lena asked as soon as she heard Oliver.
- He's nowhere to be found – Cisco said – I wonder what happened… But don't worry, we'll find him, we always do.
- Oh…So this happened more than once? – Lena asked, still in shock.
- Sort of…
Oliver turned his comms off, congratulating Barry. That helped Sara get up.
- It was a team work, guys – Barry said
- But this power of yours is really cool! – Sara said, impressed and proud of him at the same time – Well done!
Everyone got back at Star Labs and Frost became Caitlin as she entered the cortex, bringing Sara and Thea to the med bay to take a look at their bruises. Kara turned her armor off and hugged Lena, thanking her for the help. Lena turned to Clark, promising him to make a special suit for him too and Clark thanked her.
- Can I watch you work? – Cisco asked Lena, with puppy eyes and Lena laughed.
- Sure, maybe I can teach you.
- Please – Cisco said feeling really excited with the idea.
Oliver stared at Kara, not sure if he should say something. He knew they had unfinished business, he was actually confused because after everything that happened, after so long, they never brought what happened between them again and there was a weird vibe between them, it bothered him. He didn't like the situation, so he decided it was time for them to talk, if she wanted to.
- Kara? – Oliver said as he finally took a step forward, approaching her – Can we talk?
- Not now, Oliver – Kara said – I'm hearing people needing me, maybe later… I'm sorry – She said and rushed out, flying away.
Oliver just kept staring as she left. He knew something was off and he had a feeling Kara was pissed but he had no idea why, and clearly he wasn't going to find out anytime soon. He needed to clear his head and just left Star Labs. Barry noticed, and followed him.
- Oliver, is everything ok? – He asked, worried
- Yes, I just… I need to clear my head, I see you later.
Oliver grabbed his bike and drove back to Star City. He tried to keep the focus on the road but his mind insisted on going back to that night. He shook the thoughts away from his mind but as soon as he got home, took a shower and lay on his bed, only with his pants on, he knew he wouldn't win the war with himself. He just kept thinking about everything that happened in that night.
FLASHBACK
The moment her lips crushed his was the moment he knew he lost all self control he still had left. He found out he was really attracted to her in that super suit of hers, but he couldn't wait to get rid of them and it didn't take long until he did it. Her skin felt really soft against his, he thought as he teased her kissing the base of her neck. He felt her strong grip on his waist, felt her fingers tracing his scars, feeling his muscles and suddenly he felt like he was in heaven.
His body covered hers as they shared a passionate kiss until Kara turned them around, covering his body with hers, trapping his hips between her legs as she went back to kiss him, creating a trail through his neck, shoulders and chest. Oliver held her hair, bringing her face back up, capturing her lips with his as he rolled them around one again and they became one.
END OF FLASHBACK
Oliver opened his eyes, wondering about so many things. He couldn't understand why she was acting so cold with him, so distant. He thought for a while and decided that no matter how; he would have the answers he needed.
Back in Central City, Sara went to her mom's to rest and recover from the fight. Her mom was traveling so she got the place all to herself. She turned the radio on and went for a shower. She tried to relax and noticed her wound was bleeding again. She got out of the shower and went for her mom's first aid kit. She heard a knock on the door and opened it.
- Hey Barry, come in – She said ignoring the look of worry Barry had on his face.
- You're bleeding…
- It's nothing…
- It's not nothing, you're bleeding!
Barry said grabbing the itens of the kit, making her sit on the couch as he leped her.
- This can get infected, it won't be pretty…
- You're such a nerd – Sara smiled
- I'm serious – Barry stopped to look at her.
- I love how much you care – She said, reaching for his face, caressing it.
- For you, always – He said, making her stare surprised at him.
She wasn't expecting it at all and stared at Barry, waiting for him to say anything else.
- I can't keep this secret anymore… I'm tired of it – Barry said as he sat by her side. – I have a crush on you, Lance… And I'm done doing nothing about it.
Sara found really hard to say anything with the way Barry looked at her. It was a mix of sweetness and pure fire; she had no idea how to describe it. She smiled and he slowly approached his face to hers. Sara reached for his neck, staring at his lips, biting hers and that was enough for Barry to make a move, and close the space between them, kissing her. She responded kissing him back equally passionate while Barry held her hands, bringing her to his lap as he rested his back on the couch's back. Their foreheads touched and Sara opened her eyes, staring deeply into his eyes.
- Stay…
Barry nodded, kissing her back and holding her tight. Sara got up and grabbed his hands, taking him with her to the guest bedroom upstairs.
Early in the morning, Lena waited for Oliver so they could have brunch while discussing important things for business. Lena had a few ideas and needed to discuss with Oliver, but he was clearly not focused so she reached for his hand and smiled, knowing the kind of answer he would give her, but she had to try.
- Let's discuss this later, please tell me what's going on. It's everything ok?
- Yes – Oliver said as he squeezed Lena's hands – I appreciate the concern, but I'm ok. – He let them go and took a sip of coffee.
- I'm sorry but I don't believe you. – Lena crossed her arms – You can't bullshit me, Oliver, I know you. I wouldn't be your best female friend if I didn't.
- That's what Diggle says…
- And Barry – Lena laughed – They love to remind me they met you first – She said making him laugh
- I'm lucky to have 3 best friends – Oliver teased as his smile vanished from his face little by little – I don't know… I just… Things are weird.
- Weird?
- With Kara…
- Oh, I've noticed. And why's that?
- It's complicated.
- I'm a Luthor, Oliver. You'll need to try harder…
Oliver took a deep breath knowing she was right, he wouldn't be able to bullshit her, he knew it. He just wasn't sure if he was ready to share his feelings like this, but he knew Lena well enough to know she wouldn't let this go until he told her the truth.
- Kara and I had a moment a few months ago… We never had the opportunity to talk about it and a few months later, she started acting really cold and distant.
- Are you sure you didn't do anything to piss her off?
- I swear I have no idea what happened.
Lena stared deeply into Oliver's eyes and knew he was telling the truth. He had no idea why Kara was mad at him.
- You guys need to talk.
- I don't know… She doesn't want to; maybe she regrets it and wants to pretend it never happened… I would totally understand, but she doesn't want to talk.
- So you'll just let this weird vibe between you too take over every time you guys team up? You have friends in common…
- If she wants nothing to do with me, I'll respect it. If she wants to talk, she knows where she can find me. I want answers, but… I won't push her. – Oliver got up and stared at Lena after leaving a few dollars on the table – Don't… You paid last time – He smiled at her – I gotta go now, see you next time.
Lena watched Oliver turn around and leave. She thought about the situation for a while and smiled, grabbing her phone and called Kara.
- Hey, Kara, are you home? Ok… I was just thinking we never planned anything for this year's Christmas, right? So I was wondering… I have this big mansion on the countryside, it's been empty since Lex was arrested, my family never again went there, it's on the countryside and it looks beautiful in late December, with all the snow and the entire village gets decorated with Christmas decorations… I was thinking about inviting everyone to spend Christmas weekend there, what do you think?
- That's a great idea – Kara said smiling on the other side of the line – I just don't know if is a good idea for Oliver and I to spend a weekend together, we barely talk, I'm still pissed, I'm afraid it will ruin the holidays.
- Maybe it won't, maybe it's a good chance for you two to talk and solve things… I don't know… No time better than Christmas to bring people together – Lena said excitedly – I'm sorry if I sound way too excited, this is the first time in my life I have people…friends, that sees me beyond my last name. And after you, Oliver is one of my best friends and I would hate to see you guys becoming two strangers that can't stand each other, so please think about it…
Kara thought about what Lena said, and deep down she was right. They were a bunch of people that had something huge thrown at them, powers or accidents that happened and changed their lives, and they grew closer like a huge family of super heroes, they had something special and Kara knew how much that meant to Lena, having grown in the family she did. She didn't know if things would be better between her and Oliver, but she had to at least try for Lena and all of their friends that had nothing to do with all the mess she was in.
- Ok, you're right. I will do my best.
- Great! – Lena said – I will be sending the invitations later, can you help me?
- Sure… Wow, you really prepared for this.
- Guilty – Lena laughed – You know me, I'm a perfectionist.
- I know – Kara laughed – Ok, I'll stop by later and deliver some of them.
Back in Central City, Sara opened her eyes slowly, and smiled as she remembered the previous night. She turned around slowly and saw Barry sleeping like an angel. He started to open his eyes and smiled when he saw her looking at him.
- Were you watching me sleep? – He asked in a sleepy lazy voice
- It's peaceful – She whispered.
- It's because I had a great night – He said, holding her hand and giving it a soft kiss.
- Me too – She said – Which is weird because I usually wake up and take off… And now, looking at you, I just want to stay here.
- Can we? Stay here? – He said, touching her chin, bringing her face closer to his, kissing her slowly.
- You know we can't… As much as I wanted to – She smiled between the kiss.
She tried to get up and Barry held her hand, dropping her back to his side. They laughed and kissed, trying to enjoy each other's company for a little longer.
- Listen… - He said – I know you told me you don't get attached… But, I was wondering… Would you like to, I don't know… find out more about whatever is happening between us?
- Hey… Is not like that – She said giving him a playfull slap on his shoulder.
- So tell me what it is…
- I spent a lot of time in the darkness, Barry. First I was afraid I would bring darkness to people's lives, put their life at risk, so I avoided getting attached… After everything, I met the Legends and my life turned upside down, I've met a lot of people, but I could never create bounds, I was always traveling through time. The only time I got attached, the only time I tried, I lost him…
- Snart?
- Yes. And after that, all I wanted was to protect myself… Until I met Ava.
- From the Time Bureau?
- Yes. And I guess, somehow she knew… that it wasn't meant to be.
- Do you wonder if she had any idea about us? – Barry asked thoughtful, making Sara stare confused at him.
- I don't think so, why?
- C'mon, she hated my guts. – Barry laughed making Sara laugh too – She hated me, for real…
- Maybe she had a feeling… I don't know… After that, I wasn't expecting to feel anything about anyone again, but here we are…
- Surprise – He smiled, giving her one more kiss – So… What do you say?
- I say let''s find out what is happening with us – She smiled back at him, deepening their kiss. – But… Let's keep this between us for a while…
- Ok for me, we're still figuring things out – He said, caressing her face
- Also… It's hot – Sara said, giving a playful bit at his lips, earning a deep passionate kiss back.
Oliver got to his office at Queen Consolidated before going home to prepare to patrol the streets as the Green Arrow. He took some calls, filled a bunch of files and as soon as he was ready to go home, he heard a knock on his door.
- Mr. Queen? Your secretary told me I could come up
Oliver saw Susan Williams standing at his door and nodded for her to come inside.
- Please, have a sit. What can I do for you, Susan?
- Thank you – She said as she sat down across him. – I was wondering if you can get me an interview with the Green Arrow.
Oliver stared surprised at her, thinking about any possibility that could have made her find out. He was sure it was impossible, but kept a straight calm and curious face.
- And why me?
- You know him, right? When you were the Mayor, you said you knew him…
- Oh, right. I have a lot in my mind right now, I forgot for a while… But yes, I do know him – Oliver felt a bit of relief inside, but he knew he couldn't keep his guard down or trust her. – But… If you don't mind me asking, why do you want to interview him? You must know he's not a fan of the press.
- Oh I know… But – She said as she crossed her legs in a suggestive way – If I know one thing is that Oliver Queen can get anything he wants… He just needs to ask.
- I get the feeling that's not the only reason you stopped by… - Oliver said, loosening his tie a bit, he was feeling deeply uncomfortable.
Susan leaned in his table, smiling, adjusting in the chair.
- You still own me some drinks…
- I owe you nothing – He said without thinking and Susan smiled even more.
- I know you want it… We can go out, have a few drinks… who knows what else
Oliver stared at his door, seeing Kara standing there. He was sure she listened because her face told him she was beyond annoyed. He stared from Susan to Kara and suddenly he started to wonder… But no, it was not possible! Or was it? He thought.
- Susan… - Kara said, trying to keep it cool – What are you doing here?
- Trying to get my interview with Green Arrow… Don't worry after I get it, you can try to ask him what's his favorite color for your … Magazine
- As if he would ever give you an interview – Kara crossed her arms, adjusting her glasses, noticing Susan getting pissed. – Are you done?
- I was also making plans with Oliver…
- To get laid, I assume – Kara whispered without thinking
- What?
- Nothing – Kara said walking closer to Oliver – Well, you'll have to cancel it because I already made plans with Oliver – She rested her hand on his shoulder, adding unnecessary pressure, making Oliver feel a bit of pain. She stared at Oliver, forcing a smile – Right, Oliver?
- Oh…Yes, right… - Oliver said feeling the pain increasing. Kara loosened her grip and crossed her arms.
- As they say – Kara leaned in, staring defiantly at Susan – Three is a crowd.
Susan got up quickly, feeling her anger growing. She was about to leave when Kara laughed, calling her.
- Before you do any new interviews you need to start revising your work before you can call yourself a journalist, because "You're" and "Your" are two different things, it's embarrassing.
Susan got out, slamming the door close and Kara stopped laughing, leaving one of Lena's invitation at the table.
- Hey, what was that? – Oliver asked, extremely confused – Do we have plans? Tonight?
- That was nothing, and no we don't have any plans… I just said that to piss Susan off because sadly, I can't throw her in space!
Oliver stared at Kara, not sure what to say. At least, now he got something clear: Kara really detested Susan because he didn't know Kara was able to be this angry at someone other than him when they met, to the point she wanted to throw her in space.
- Lena asked me to give you this… It's an invitation for the Christmas weekend… She's really excited about it – Kara pointed to the envelope and Oliver grabbed it.
- That's a cool idea. I'm in.
- Great – Kara said as she turned around to leave.
- Kara, wait… - Oliver said rushing afte her – We should talk and…
- I can't now… I have a few places to deliver this – She showed him the invitations and her cell phone started to ring – I'm sorry… Hi Cisco… What? Ok, I'm flying there right now.
She hung up and smiled awkwardly at Oliver.
- This is urgent…
She switched right into Supergirl and flew away quickly, leaving a frustrated Oliver behind.
Back at Star Labs, Lena stopped by to leave some of the invitations that Kara couldn't deliver, when Thea arrived.
- Here… - Lena said as she gave the last invitation to Thea.
- This is a wonderful idea, Lena – Clark said after reading it – We usually get together when the world is about to end…
- My thoughts exactly – Lena said
- I'm so in, I want to help. – Thea said excitedly – I happen to be the Queen of Christmas, no pun intended – She added, making everyone laugh – So I can grab the decorations and everything we need for this party to be awesome!
- I'm also in, I need a party… I need to relax – Cisco said – Thank you.
- You're welcome… - Lena said as she sat down near Caitlin – You guys are my first real friends, you never cared that I'm a Luthor and saw me for who I am… Ever since Kara shared her secret with me, and you guys took me in a few months ago, I've never been so happy, so I wanted to do something in return…
- Ok you're precious and need to be protected at all costs – Caitlin said, hugging Lena, making everyone else hug too
- Stop it, I'll cry – Lena joked
- Ok, I'll go visit some stores, we need to move because Christmas is next week – Thea said getting ready to leave
- I'll go with you – Clark offered, making Thea smile.
Clark and Thea walked around Central City, visiting all stores selling Christmas stuff they could find.
- I think Lena read our minds, I desperately needed this – Thea said as they left the 3rd store they found.
- Same – Clark laughed – This life can take a lot of us, we need to preserve the most we can, friendships, people we love…
- I think this is the first step for us all to create new traditions… I will definitely vote to keep this one a tradition of ours – Thea smiled.
It was incredible how spending time with Clark, getting to know him more made Thea feel great, comfortable, and safe. It was a huge relief knowing there was a guy she could talk to that didn't look at her like a piece of meat or that wanted to kill her for some reason. They talked about a few more things when Clark stopped abruptly, focusing on his hearing. Thea stared worried at him.
- What did you hear?
- A meta… - Clark said – He's attacking two girls two streets from here and…
Thea barely heard Clark's last words and ran as fast as she could towards the place Clark described. She felt something inside of her that she didn't feel for a long time. She felt blinded by the will to grabb whoever that meta was and destroy him. She couldn't think, she couldn't see one step ahead of her, just the path towards the person she needed to stop. She almost got hit by a car, but Clark grabbed her in time and as soon as they reached the sidewalk, Thea fought to get away and keep running.
- LET ME GO! – She said in a serious tone that made Clark let her go and stop abruptly.
Thea reached for the meta and jumped him from behind. He threw her away with his mind, and stared at her as if he was hypnotizing her. Thea yelled in pain and Clark punched the meta, making him collapse on the ground. Thea jumped him again, punching and kicking.
- Thea, that's enough, he's out…
- NO IT ISN'T!
Thea felt a familiar feeling boiling inside of her. She needed to keep punching that guy, she could only rest if she ended him for good. She grabbed him by the neck, squeezing it. Clark got closer, trying to stop her but he found out something really serious was happening because Thea had strength in her that he never seen in a human before. It was like she had fire in her eyes and needed to do that. He recognized the feeling right away.
- Thea, please, you're better than this… - He said, managing to take her away from the unconscious meta – I know you can hear me – He kept saying almost in a whisper. – Hey, it's ok – Clark hugged her and Thea started to calm down, coming back to her senses.
She stared at Clark, scared and wondering what happened. She saw the meta on the floor, and seeing the marks of her nails on his neck. She covered her mouth with her hands, realizing what happened. She couldn't look at Clark right now; she was horrified of what he saw her do.
- Oh… Oh my God! I'm…
- Thea, it's ok… - Clark tried to calm her down and Thea just pushed him away
- Stay away… I'm… I can't…
Thea turned around and ran away. Clark stared at Thea, wanting to help her but he knew there was no point in rushing after her right now. He walked after her, keeping his distance enough to be able to keep an eye on her but at the same time give her space to breathe and calm down.
Back in Star City, Oliver couldn't stop thinking about what happened at his office and he had enough of letting Kara push him away, ignoring him. He called Cisco and asked him about what Kara went after and once he got the information he needes, he grabbed his equipment and left after Kara. He finally found her almost 20 minutes later; she was helping a kid out of a building on fire. Oliver rushed to help her and they managed to keep everyone safe.
- Thank you Supergirl! Thank you Green Arrow! – The kids hugged them both, as their parents grabbed them and went to the ambulance.
After the area was cleared there was only Oliver and Kara there. Oliver had enough of Kara running and ignoring him, and he needed to understand what the hell whas happening. He reached for her hand, making her turn to face him.
- Please, just…wait.
- What? – Kara asked, crossing her arms
- Are you mad at me or something?
- Why would I be mad at you?
- I don't know, you tell me… Because it feels like you're mad at me.
- Oliver, I'm not responsible for your feelings… - She said, turning away from him. All she wanted to do was to go home, take a shower and sleep.
Oliver let Kara's hand go, staring at her with a mix of surprise and hurt in his eyes. So it was serious, he thought. Now more than ever, he needed to understand.
- Seriously? – Oliver asked – Kara… I honestly don't know what's going on, it would be great if you could tell me why you're mad at me… We never got to talk after that night…
- I had a city to save
- So did I, I'm not complaining or blaming you, but… The thing is after a while, you just became distant, cold… You treat anyone well, but me. I'm kind of lost here, so can I at least know what happened for you to be this mad at me?
- I have no reason to be mad at you Oliver, you're an adult, you are responsible for your actions and you are a free single guy, you can do whatever you want and you own me nothing, so why on Earth would I be mad at you? Because I'm not mad! I'm perfectly calm! And I need to go, someone needs me.
- Kara, please, not again.
- This is serious Oliver, people need Supergirl. – Kara was about to leave when she looked Oliver deeply into his eyes. She knew she wasn't being fair so she took a deep breath – Listen, can we talk about it later? In the bunker? I promise I'll be there…
- I'm sorry, you're right, people need you. – Oliver said, a bit calmer, knowing she had that worried look in her eyes; she must have heard something really serious. – Ok, I'll meet you later at the bunker.
- Ok, see you later – She flew away quickly.
Oliver watched her leave, knowing at least he had a small victory, she stopped running away from him and was willing to talk. He smiled, put his helmet on and rode back to Star City.
