Here it is, the 163rd full chapter of Miraculous Quirks released on schedule. The final battle is almost at hand and so it's time for Class 1-A to leave U.A. for the final time and make their way to the makeshift headquarters 30 kilometers away and wait for what is to come. That means it's goodbye to their families and those they've gotten to know and to Troy. Anyway, that is all the administrative stuff that I have for you and as there are no guest reviews to respond to or questions to answer I will end this note here. Do keep the reviews coming as I enjoy hearing from y'all. That is all I have for this pre chapter note so that means that it is time to sit back, relax, and enjoy the 163rd full chapter of Miraculous Quirks.
Disclaimer: I do not own either of these great works of fiction.
Chapter 163: On Standby
"Attention all evacuees who are currently sheltering on U.A.'s campus." Nezu's voice said over the U.A. speaker system getting the attention of everyone currently protected behind the U.A. barrier with the sudden announcement. "The heroes and police have been working together to investigate the League of Villains and their allies since the incident in Jaku and what they've found is that Tomura Shigaraki will be active again in four days' time. This is the man who singlehandedly caused unprecedented disaster in our country a little over a month ago but was not at full strength at the time. He will be soon and as such U.A. will be under martial law at that time so that we can best assure the safety of everyone here."
There was a moment's pause in the announcement for the many civilians sheltering at U.A. to take in the Principal's words as they stared at the nearest speakers to them. They'd come out of nowhere it seemed, though many presumed that there was work being done behind the scenes regarding the League of Villains, and given the seriousness of the announcement everyone was listening to what Nezu had to say.
"Rest assured that all defensive measures will be raised to their maximum levels to protect everyone here." Nezu continued. "However, when the evacuation system kicks in, you will be unable to walk around the campus. We apologize for the inconvenience that this will cause you but we thank you for your understanding in these troubling times. Don't worry, we will persevere in the face of this grave threat to our nation. Thank you."
With that Nezu cut off his broadcast and the civilians processed what they'd been told. The war between the remaining heroes and police and the villains was clearly about to begin so they would have to trust U.A., the heroes, and the police to continue to protect them. Of course, the few remaining All for One spies amongst the evacuees were worried for a different reason as their mission, to turn the evacuees against Izuku Midoriya and drive him out, seemed in jeopardy what with martial law almost upon them and none of them wanted to fail All for One.
That said, there weren't many spies left as most had been rounded up the night before thanks to Fei and Toru's work in identifying most of them and the latter using the Mouse Miraculous and her Quirk to plant stun devices on the spies and thus incapacitate all of them at the same time. They'd then been taken into custody by Ectoplasm and his clones before anyone could notice so as to prevent fear from spreading amongst the evacuees. They were being interrogated even as Nezu gave his announcement but the few still active were worried that they'd not succeed in their mission.
As such, one of them got ready to make his move and made sure that he was with the bulk of the evacuees, including many who'd been moved by that brunette girl's words to allow Izuku Midoriya back on campus, so that he could begin to sow the seeds of mistrust amongst them and drive Midoriya out. However, as he was with them, many began to make their way to U.A.'s main drive, so the man went with them, and saw that what looked like all of Class 1-A was gathered there carrying backpacks or shoulder bags while the pro hero and teacher Snipe was with them.
It was clear that they were about to leave U.A. and not return for a few days at least. That was confirmed when the man heard a few of the evacuees who he recognized as parents of the kids muttering about how worried they were for their children but knowing that them leaving now was the right thing. It would seem, to the spy at least, that he and his allies needn't be worried as the students were clearly heading out that morning and likely wouldn't be back before Shigaraki became active again.
What the spy didn't know was that this had been the plan all along and the students had alerted their parents and the friends that they'd made amongst the evacuees of this fact the night before after All Might had told them the plan, and before Ochaco had spoken with Marinette, so that they could see them off before they left. From there word had spread and now many of the evacuees were waiting by the barrier's exit and facing the gathered members of Class 1-A who had gathered there.
All the students had in their bags were the essentials that they'd need for the next few days in their final preparation spot, and in most cases their kwamis. That said none of the evacuees and most of the teachers didn't know about the kwamis and they were all going to remain in hiding until the class got to their field headquarters.
The only one missing was of course Aoyama as he was still in the Central Hospital with Aizawa who had managed to get through to him and rip out the fear that All for One had over him while Monoma was also there making his own preparations for the final battle. Soon Koda and Shoji would head there as well so that they were in position for when Spinner and his heteromorph army attacked it but for the moment the class was heading out to the special staging point as the fine details of the plan were ironed out.
Before they left, though, they wanted to address their family members and the evacuees who'd supported them one last time. If they saw them again it would be after the war when they'd won it so this moment was important to all of them.
"Everyone!" Ida called out once the evacuees who had gathered to see them off had arrived. "Thank you for coming. We have just one thing to say to you before we leave."
"We're grateful for all your support!" The whole class, except Bakugo, said with several of them bowing and Mina waving with Ida adding at the end. "However, it is now time for us to head out so we just wished to thank you before then."
"Hold up!" A voice called from the crowd and they saw Mandalay's nephew Kota step forward. "You're leaving us, Mr. Deku?"
"Yes." Izuku said with a nod as he smiled at Kota. "Thanks to you all welcoming me back at U.A. I've gotten some much needed rest and cleaned myself up. However, now it is time for me to continue the fight and see this through to the end."
"The safety of the evacuees are our chief concern so keep your eyes peeled for anything that might be dangerous." Snipe said from next to the class as he was the one who was escorting Class 1-A to the special facility where they'd be staying until the war began. "And remember that the evacuation system could be activated at any time. You have to be prepared for anything so stay alert and be ready for when the order is given."
Snipe paused for a moment to let his words sink in. The evacuees understood the drill and weren't asking questions about the evacuation order, which was good, that would make everything smoother when the time came to evacuate them using the Principal's system.
"Good." Snipe said before the silence lingered too long. "If you wish to say your goodbyes, now is the time as we will be heading out momentarily."
With that Snipe was done and soon the parents who were present came forward first with Izuku's mother coming up to him and hugging him one last time before he left though for once neither of them were crying their usual floods of tears. Elsewhere, Koda's mother embraced him and encouraged him like she always did, Todoroki reassured his mother, brother, and sister as best he could, Ochaco said goodbye to her parents, Jiro's father showed her support while her smiling mother looked on and Bakugo's mother hit him on back in her own way of caring while his father tried to calm her down.
Meanwhile, those whose families either weren't sheltering at U.A., weren't part of their children's lives, or were long dead in Marinette and Adrien's cases, were saying their own goodbyes to the evacuees that they'd come to know well. The French pair didn't really know any of the evacuees though as they'd been focused on their training so they just watched as Shoji shook hands with the fox heteromorph who'd been saved by Izuku and was one of the first to rush to his defense when they'd brought him back showing that the two heteromorphs had become close.
At the same time Nezu was helping Recovery Girl out as she was going to be needed for her Quirk but was obviously not a front line fighter with a few of Ectoplasm's clones present for support. The other clones, though, were hidden just in case they were needed.
This would be the case because within the crowd of evacuees, the spy had grinned at the news that Izuku Midoriya was leaving U.A.'s protection again. He may not know that he was one of the few remaining spies for All for One within U.A., and for safety reasons he only knew of a few other spies hence why he'd been unaware that almost all of them had been rounded up, but that wasn't a problem to him.
No, his worries were now fully relieved because with the kid willingly leaving U.A., he'd be easier for the big man to reach. The conspirators hadn't had to lift a finger to complete their orders thus guaranteeing their future.
Unfortunately for the man, but fortunately for the heroes, his grin had been out of a place at a goodbye such as this and an easy tell for Fei who was currently in her monkey form and hidden in one of the trees that lined the drive to U.A.'s entrance. She'd been around since before the age of Quirks and lived several lives during her service to the Guardians so she'd gotten good at reading people, that was why she'd been tasked with watching the crowd during this farewell just in case she spotted anything suspicious during it, and so the moment that she saw that grin she knew that it was out of place.
That caused her to focus on him and she turned into her eagle form to get a better look as her long distance vision was best like this so she was able to see his eyes and she saw the relief in them. Between that and his grin she knew right away that he was out of place within the crowd of people. Yes a few of the evacuees were smiling like the bald man with three star-like protrusions from his head but that was more hope and pride for the young heroes after being won over by Ochaco's plea. Instead, most of the evacuees were worried and in a few cases even praying as they bid farewell to Class 1-A.
All this raised Fei's highly trained senses and her gut told her that the man had to be one of the spies that she'd not rooted out yet. She listened to her gut and as Izuku was saying goodbye to Eri and Kota after his mother's hug, Fei transformed into her mantis form and whispered into the special communicator she had that could change sizes with her to fit her various forms and let Ectoplasm know that she'd noticed someone suspicious and was moving in to intercept him once the students had left U.A.
With that done, Fei scurried out of the tree and through the bushes until she was in a safe place to transform back to human form where no one would notice her. She then quickly and stealthily slipped into the crowd of evacuees unnoticed thanks to all the goodbyes.
Fei then moved to stand right behind the man as the members of Class 1-A and Snipe turned and walked off to the exit from U.A. and to their makeshift headquarters 30 kilometers from the school. Fei knew about it; it was a fortress that the pros called 'Troy' that had been built on top of a rocky plateau overlooking trees and the ruins of one of the many cities that had been devastated in the wake of the nation's decline following Jaku.
The last sight of Class 1-A was of Izuku Midoriya turning to wave one last goodbye and thanks to the evacuees before he turned back and they all left the safety of U.A. Only after that did the evacuees begin to disperse and head back to the area set up for them in smaller groups while chatting amongst themselves. The spy was grinning now as Izuku Midoriya left, his mission complete and all he had to do was let the big man know that his prey was no longer hidden at U.A. so that he was aware of the situation.
However, just as the man was about to turn, a strong but feminine hand grabbed his left shoulder and squeezed hard enough to let him know that she had full control over the situation. He let out a gasp of shock and turned to see an attractive woman with noticeably Chinese features in her mid-20s with a streak of red in her black hair and wearing a leather jacket and jeans smiling at him. The look in her eyes didn't match her smile though and it caused the man's eyes to go wide as he began to tremble.
"You're not the subtlest operator that I've seen so I presume that there's a level of duress involved." The woman said in perfect, albeit Chinese accented, Japanese. "So how about you come with me? I'd like to have a little chat with you if you don't mind."
The man looked into the woman's eyes and saw that she meant business. He didn't recognize her at all but she was clearly a hero and a seasoned one who was well acquainted with violence at that. With a sigh of resignation he surrendered knowing he had no hope against her. He'd been found out and was done for as the woman escorted him into U.A.'s main building her hand still on his shoulder clearly ready to act if he tried anything funny. Still, at least the big man's goal of having Izuku Midoriya leave U.A. had been achieved, that alone was a win for the spy.
Fei could feel that he wasn't fully upset at being caught, which meant that whatever his mission was had been at least partially successful. Given that she'd learned from the other spies that she'd help interrogate the night before that there had been a plan to get the evacuees to turn on Izuku Midoriya and force him out of U.A. where All for One could find him so she presumed that that was it. Well, tough luck for them because the plan was in motion and soon they'd be the ones taking the fight to All for One and not the other way around.
All that was left was the final preparations and Fei was certain that Class 1-A would do just fine with that once they got to Troy and settled in for the next few days. For now, though, she had another spy to interrogate and likely a few more to find before she too could get ready for her role in the final battle to come.
"Thanks to Ectoplasm, Cementoss, and Power Loader we were able to get this bad boy functional in only a short amount of time." Snipe said as he dropped Class 1-A off at Troy while the students looked at the facility before them. "It's nowhere near as strong as U.A. is, obviously, but it will do for your purposes over the next few days so why don't you take your bags inside, find your rooms, and get settled."
As Snipe spoke the class took in the building. It was, simply, a cross between the dorms that U.A. had built in terms of its overall design and the U.A. barrier with the dark metallic armor that covered the whole structure. There was an extra bit on the side that wasn't as tall as the building but other than that it was clear where the design came from, which Toru proceeded to comment on.
"There's no way that this was not inspired by the dorms back on campus." Toru said her right hand on Jiro's shoulder and as they were all in their hero costumes only her gloves, boots, bag, and pendant were visible while Mullo hid out in her bag waiting to come out just as the various other kwamis were doing with their own holders. "It looks like a fortified version of them."
"Huh, yeah you're right." Jiro said looking up at it. "Guess they have a uniform design that they just followed when they made."
"Well we know that this was a rush job." Marinette noted as she looked at the building. "So they likely went for what was easiest to erect and protect quickly."
"I can get e…" Mineta began before he was cut off by a slap from Tsu's tongue followed by Adrien 'accidently' kicking him in the back of the head and driving Mineta face first into the rocky plateau.
"It's nice of the school to build us this fancy coffin." Sero noted his helmet hiding the Bee Miraculous as keeping a comb in his hair could take some explaining. "Makes a fitting resting place for us if the League of Villains find out where we are."
"Dude, not cool." Sato said.
Everyone else just ignored that while Todoroki kicked things off as he picked up one of the boxes that they'd brought with them and made his way into the building without a word. Adrien agreed with Todoroki's assessment of the situation and followed his friend in while the others watched. That got the rest of the class moving and without another word they brought in the boxes of supplies that they'd need for the next few days and entered Troy.
From there they separated with Marinette and Sato taking charge in the kitchen to sort that out, Ida running point on the unpacking of the general supplies that they'd brought, and the rest going to find their rooms. The interior was the same as the dorms only spartan with the bare necessities as it was a temporary structure so they quickly went to where their rooms were to unpack the little that they'd brought and settle in. As they did, the kwamis flew out from their backs or from pockets and helped where they could while also adjusting to the new place.
They didn't have much so it didn't take long for them to have everything sorted out and soon they were doing their own things. Well, most of them were at least as Todoroki had retired to his room only to be joined by Adrien, Ida, Kirishima, and Bakugo once they were all done with their own unpacking and general tasks with Ida being the last one to arrive. Given what Todoroki was up against, they'd been worried about him, well most of them were though Bakugo at least being there showed how much he was changing, and so they were there for him.
They'd voiced as much as they arrived until all of them were gathered in Todoroki's room with Todoroki sitting on his chair, Kirishima, and Bakugo on his bed with the latter leaning back on in it, Ida on another chair that he'd brought with him and Adrien sitting on chest of drawers so he was taller than the others at the moment and had forced Todoroki to role the chair back to the window. Along with them were the kwamis Plagg, Wayzz, and Xuppu as they were staying there with their respective holders.
Bakugo and Todoroki didn't have Miraculouses, Marinette's Quirk hadn't assigned them one but that was fine with them as they both had major battles of their own that would only be complicated by a Miraculous. Todoroki at least was curious as to what using one would be like but Bakugo didn't really care and besides, right now the focus was on Todoroki and what he was going through so that was what was addressed.
"I'm sorry if I made all of you worry about me." Todoroki said breaking the silence as he looked around the room once everyone was settled. "I'm fine now though, I promise."
"I have an older brother too you know." Ida said. "I understand what it's like being the younger brother."
"True but, well, I don't think we can really compare our families, Ida, what with your brother being a pro hero and all while mine's a notorious villain." Todoroki said looking down at the ground though he had a smile on his face. "It's strange though. Because of my father and his actions, along with what happened to him when I was a kid, I have no idea what Toya likes."
"Definitely udon." Bakugo said his arms behind his head and looking up a bit so that he could see Todoroki. "The really hot kind that burns your mouth. No way he's not into that."
"We talking spicy burn or heat burn?" Wayzz asked looking over and down at Bakugo. "Both could cause that so you have to be specific as to which it is, or both for that matter."
"Heat I'd say, seems like it would be to his tastes than spice." Bakugo said, he didn't understand the kwamis but Dupain-Cheng had paired them with his classmates so he could tolerate them and Kirishima's kwami at least seemed decent enough though he didn't get along with Ida's one at all. "Though I'm all about the spicy stuff, that's the best."
"In that case then maybe I'll have to try to eat some with him once this is over, if we catch him alive that is." Todoroki said with a chuckle as he looked over at Bakugo. "I want to get to know him better when this is over so I'm going to do all I can to bring him in alive."
"That's a good idea." Adrien said as he shifted into a cross legged posture. "By the time of the incident that sent Marinette and myself to the future, I didn't really know my father at all. A big regret I have is that I could never break through to him before the incident but after my mother's disappearance, he was a changed man."
"What was he like before that?" Ida asked looking over at Adrien. "You've not really spoken much about him, or your past in general. I know that it's tough for you so if you don't want to talk about it then I understand. I certainly can't relate to what you've been through but I do know what it's like to be affected by a family tragedy."
"Oh I know Ida; I had to help snap you out of that." Adrien said with a smile. "And I don't mind, now that our secret is out to the class it's actually nice to be open about everything."
"And we're here for you man." Kirishima said. "It's what bros do."
"I appreciate it, I really do." Adrien said "So to answer Ida's question, my dad was always a bit distant growing up but with my mother around we were still a family. He was still overprotective though, I can't fault him for that, and I was home schooled until I was 13 when I snuck out to go to school because I wanted a normal school experience."
"Yeah I get that feeling, my father was like that until I got to U.A. though for a different reason to yours." Todoroki said. "You've told me that your dad was a bit like mine and I can see it if he kept you home for years."
"I wasn't always at home but like how Endeavor saw you as his way of surpassing All Might, Shoto, I was an extension of my father's legacy what with all the modeling that I was doing for the family brand." Adrien said. "But I did have some good times as well growing up and even had a few friends though not many. Still, he could be reasonable from time to time like when he found out I wanted to watch the film that my mother was the star of and showed it to me after I tried to sneak out to see it or when he allowed me to go to school so long as I kept up with my extra curriculars and had my bodyguard take me but we never rebuilt any kind of relationship the way you have with Endeavor."
"It's been tough but it's thanks to people like you and Midoriya that I've even been able to do so." Todoroki said. "And now I can face Toya. I'm ready to end his destruction."
"Healing wounds like that are all part of being a hero." Kirishima said. "I can't say I can relate, my family's pretty normal and not a hero one, but still, it's so manly that you're doing that."
"Thanks." Todoroki said.
"Just make sure you still take his fiery ass down." Bakugo said bluntly. "He needs to be locked away even if he's your brother."
"I will, Toya is beyond forgiveness at this point and needs to be stopped." Todoroki said. "This is a family mess though so I will be the one to clean it up."
"I'm not sure what I'd do if someone in my family had become a villain." Ida admitted. "Since my grandfather's time we've been heroes but there's been no pressure to be one if we didn't want to be nor was there any drive to surpass All Might. Of course we did become heroes and I always looked up to my brother as he was the ideal hero to me but that was my choice. It did lead me down a dark path for a bit, one I still feel like I'm making up for, but thanks to you guys I was stopped before I died."
"I understood what you were going through because it was how I saw my father at the time." Todoroki said. "So I was glad that I could help but Adrien was the one who did the real work in taking down Stain."
"Yeah and he recognized me as a true hero for it, though I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not." Adrien said. "Still, I'd do it again in a heartbeat though I wouldn't be as reckless as I was last time."
"When I heard the story, it was so manly." Kirishima said crying a bit. "I wish I'd been there to help as well."
"It wasn't exactly a walk in the park." Adrien said. "Though Hardening would have been useful against Stain's blades."
"Ha, I'd have just blown the bastard up and been done with it." Bakugo said. "He'd have been defeated quickly if I'd been there."
"Big talk for someone who wasn't." Xuppu said. "I've heard the story; you'd have probably just gotten hit by a throwing knife and then frozen."
"Why you…" Bakugo growled as Xuppu stuck his tongue out.
"I don't think so." Todoroki said thinking back on it. "That happened to me but it's because I made a mistake that I made when facing Dupain-Cheng in the Sports Festival, Bakugo wouldn't have made it I don't think."
"He might have if he'd gone for a massive all around explosion blitz." Adrien said thinking. "But at the same time that would have damaged Stain and kept him at a distance, his Quirk basically requires him to be a close range fighter with throwing knives to aid him so Bakugo's explosions could have worked well. Course the debate is whether or not fighting in an alleyway would benefit Stain or Bakugo in such a situation."
"Me for certain." Bakugo said.
"Perhaps." Ida mused. "But we won't know for certain as it was Agreste and Midoriya who took down Stain in the end. I wanted to for my brother but Agreste was right that night, rage and vengeance are not heroic attributes. I failed there and didn't have a clear head and am grateful that you stopped me."
"It's what friends do." Adrien said with a shrug. "You'd have done the same for any of us."
"Yes, I would, but my mind was clouded back then." Ida said with a bow of his head. "Those words have stuck with me since then, I've made sure to never allow that side of me out. That said, after all the revelations, I now know why you said gods and not god."
"I did?" Adrien asked and Ida nodded. "Well shit that was dumb."
"I just figured it was a translation error in your mind." Ida said. "And besides, I wasn't exactly thinking straight at the time."
"I didn't even notice, I was too surprised by your arrival Adrien." Todoroki said. "But what you said that night was wise and I'll be keeping a clear head against Toya. I know that I have to if I want to stop him."
"If my father was a villain, I don't if I'd be able to be as levelheaded as you, Shoto, but I would still try to take him down and make him pay for his crimes just as you're doing." Adrien said. "And in the end I think that that that could help us as I could then visit him in prison and get to know him. Of course he wasn't a villain, we know that, but still, it could help."
"If Toya survives that is what I'm planning on doing." Todoroki said. "Visit him in prison that is."
"Who's to say your father wasn't that Hawk Moth character." Bakugo said glancing at Adrien. "You said that Hawk Moth was an adult so he could have been the villain you were facing. You did say you lost your mother; loss is an easy way to become a villain."
"Bakugo's right." Ida said. "Grief is a powerful emotion."
"I know and in a different world I may have gone down that path myself when my mother vanished." Adrien said. "But I knew that she'd not want me to do that. She'd want me to move on while cherishing her memory, which is what I did. It was because of my memory of her that I wanted to go to school, make friends, and use my Miraculous for good and protect others from danger. She's my driving force as a hero."
"Master Fu wouldn't have chosen you as my holder if he didn't see the light in you." Plagg said. "And you've more than shown it in that life and this Adrien."
"Yeah you have and you've got such a manly reason to be a hero." Kirishima said. "It's inspiring."
"Just because you used tragedy to become a hero doesn't mean that your father didn't use it to become a villain." Bakugo said. "The path of darkness is just as plausible as the path of light from something like that."
"I won't deny that that could have happened, and I know that my mother's disappearance did make my father more protective and controlling over me, but at the same time he was akumatized." Adrien pointed out. "We faced him when he became a villain called 'The Collector' and defeated him. That would rule him out as Hawk Moth."
"Would it?" Bakugo asked. "How does that Miraculous work anyway? It could very well be used on the holder."
"Bakugo does have a point man." Kirishima said thinking on it and deciding to go to the best source that they had and looked at his kwami. "Hey Wayzz, what do you think? You know your fellow kwamis well. Can the power of the Moth Miraculous be used on the holder?"
"Sass would be the better source for this then I would, and of course Nooroo would know best." Wayzz said thinking on it. "But theoretically it might work. All you need to akumatize someone, that's the evil term for the power by the way, is the infused butterfly to make contact with an item that is on the person in question."
"Wayzz is right." Xuppu said while Plagg just ate some cheese that he'd been saving not really interested in the conversation now that it had turned to the theoretical abilities of Nooroo's power. "If Hawk Moth were to make an akuma then renounce the Miraculous and put it somewhere where he can reclaim it then he could akumatize himself. He'd not be able to give orders or be connected to that person but so long as he set a goal beforehand he'd follow through with that goal."
"Though as Nooroo has explained in the past, once he's been de-akumatized, renounced the power due to completing the goal, or had the power taken from him, the last of which in this scenario wouldn't be the case, he'd forget all that happened." Wayzz said. "So it's possible and would throw off the scent if he thought that you were getting too close to the truth. I didn't think of that as a possibility actually."
"See, it could happen." Bakugo said. "So don't rule it out."
"When you put it like that, I guess that could be the case." Adrien admitted. "And we never did catch Hawk Moth so it could be him but I dunno, right now it's irrelevant to me who Hawk Moth was as it happened so long ago."
"There's gotta be a way to confirm it though." Kirishima said getting into the investigation. "Like can't Nooroo do something to let Shoji know and he can tell us."
"Well, there is a way to view the memories of past holders." Plagg said returning to the conversation. "It requires the kwami to give their holder a Kwagatama and for the Kwagatama to be touched to a symbol of the Order of the Guardians, not the Guardians of the Elements mind you as while the Miraculouses were created by the Guardian of Magic, the Order of the Guardians was established later to safeguard the Miraculouses. From there the person can seek knowledge from past holders though only the knowledge from the period in which that holder had his or her Miraculous."
"They are the manifestation of the memories of the previous holder." Wayzz said. "So while they'd appear in costume, they'd know who they were and could, if they wanted to, reveal that information."
"Problem is." Xuppu said. "That most of the symbols were destroyed during the Quirk Wars when many works of art were lost so it's a long shot at best. That and it would take months to make a Kwagatama for Nooroo's new holder so you couldn't ask for a while anyway."
"I'm confused." Ida said. "What is a Kwagatama?"
"This." Adrien said reaching into a pouch on his belt and pulling out a black cord with a pitch black pendant that looked like the light swirl from the Yin and Yang symbol with a circular hole in it. "Plagg gave it to me on my last birthday and explained what it was."
"It's a gift a kwami makes and gives to their holders on a special occasion like a birthday to show how much our holders mean to us." Plagg said. "It takes some time though, as Xuppu stated a few months, to make."
"So with that you could talk to past Black Cat holders?" Kirishima asked.
"I guess I can." Adrien said as he put it away. "But I don't see the need to at the moment."
"It's only really done when there is a need for advice on a certain issue that only a past holder can answer." Wayzz said. "My last full time holder used his a few times for help as some of the artwork in the Louvre had the symbol present, but it's not common."
"So if we survive this and Shoji and Nooroo become close he could use it to find out who Hawk Moth was?" Todoroki asked. "It would take a bit of time but you'd have your answer if you want it."
"I would but really I'm not sure if I want it at this point." Adrien said as he thought on the idea. "It would be nice to know who we fought in Paris for a few years as it could give Marinette and me some closure, but right now that's not relevant. We've got a war to focus on that has the future of not just Japan but the world resting on it. That should be what we're concerned with, not the past."
"Agreste is right." Ida said seriously. "We should be more focused on the immediate future and ensuring that the distant future is bright."
"Yeah just watch." Bakugo said grinning though the high neck of his costume and position hid it. "I'm going to kick Shigaraki's ass so hard he won't know what hit him. I owe that bastard that much and then some."
"Not if I beat you to it." Adrien said grinning at Bakugo. "You weren't the only one he skewered in Jaku. I owe him a few punches as well."
"Fat chance Agreste." Bakugo said.
"Damn you guys are so manly." Kirishima said crying and clenching his fist. "I'm going to have to do the same in my battle."
"I will end my brother's rampage." Todoroki said. "And bring him to justice."
"We all have a lot to do." Ida said. "So we should be supportive of that."
"Just because you're not going to have any big wins doesn't mean you can bring us down four eyes." Bakugo said. "I'll surpass All Might for sure!"
"Right." Adrien said. "And how will you do that, Bakugo."
"Simple, I'm going to murder Shigaraki." Bakugo said. "First I'll…"
With that Bakugo devolved into a rant about how he was going to blow up Shigaraki so hard that his regeneration wouldn't work even if Monoma wasn't erasing it with Aizawa's Quirk. From there they quickly fell into chatting about their training and what they'd do as they enjoyed the moment knowing that it was the calm before the storm. However, as they chatted, none of them realized that Izuku wasn't with them or what he was up to.
I think that that's a good place to end this chapter on, a nice little tease for what we all know is coming next. Nothing more to really say about this chapter, it's a pretty standard one with the move, a little bit of Fei showing off her years of experience, and some chatter amongst a few of the guys to wrap it up. Next up, though, well there's still some thanks to be said and the time is right for it. That's all that I really have for y'all however so I'll leave this chapter off here. As always, if you like it or have any questions please let me know in reviews or PMs, I will try to answer them as best I could and post any questions asked between uploads at the start of the next chapter and do follow and favorite this, so you are alerted to future uploads. Do keep the reviews coming as I like hearing from y'all as you enjoy my work, it motivates me to keep producing the best work I can for y'all to enjoy. Until next time.
