Hello everybody I'm back with another Chapter in PAW Patrol the Wellermen. I just have one thing to say, This Chapter contains the song Hoist the colours, which I do not own the lyrics to. That great work of art belongs to Hans Zimmer, Ted Elliott, Terry Rossio, and Gore Verbinski. I just wanted to clarify that. Without further ado please enjoy the next Chapter in PAW Patrol: the Wellermen

Chapter 3

The next morning I woke up to the smell of liver sausages, a personal favorite of mine. Ella insisted that I stay for breakfast, so I did. Afterwards Chase and I drove down to the Crafty Fox Tavern to arrest Mr. Bull. My angry eyes scanned the room for the big bully. I found him at a table playing poker with some other dogs. But worst of all he had MY pup tag around his neck.

"There he is. Let's get him Chase," I growled.

Then Mr. Bull spotted me, and grew an angry scowl on his smug face.

"So you're back for, mor…." Mr. Bull started, but was silenced by my fist.

"Why you little," Mr. Bull growled.

"Watch it, Bozo," Chase said, drawing his issued police 9mm.

"What do you want," Mr. Bull growled.

"You stole from me, and I want my stuff back," I growled, ripping my pup tag off his neck.

"Mr. Bull you are under arrest for thievery, the physical assault of Zuma Labrador, and the verbal harassment of Ella Labrador," Chase said.

Slowly Mr. Bull raised his front paws in the air and Chase put canine paw shackles on him. Chase then dragged him to his police cruiser.

"Nice work, Chase, high paw," I said giving Chase a high paw.

"Thanks for helping me out with that. Now I've got to go talk to his son and tell him that he's the new owner of the Crafty Fox Tavern," Chase said.

"I'll come too. I don't have anything else to do," I said.

We hopped in Chase's cruiser. First we put Mr. Bull in the Adventure County jail and then we went to his son's house. Chase gently knocked on his door.

"Oh, Hello officer, is everything alright," Mr. Bull's son, Billy Bull, said.

"Billy Bull, I'm here to discuss an incident with your father," Chase said sternly.

"Oh, please come in and sit down sirs," Billy said.

We walk in and sat down on his bean bag couch.

"Okay, what happened with my father," Billy asked.

"Yesterday afternoon, my friend Zuma here and Ella Labrador, reported a physical assault on Zuma and Verbal harassment from your father," Chase said.

"Let me guess, you arrested him and came to tell me that I am now the owner of the Crafty fox Tavern," Billy said.

"Wow, actually that's exactly what we came here to tell you. how did you know?" I said.

"I've waited years for someone to accuse and arrest my dad. He was the worst dad ever, always drunk with alcohol," Billy said.

"Well then, that's really all we needed to tell you," Chase said.

"Thanks for finally doing something about my dad," Billy said.

"You're welcome. Oh and there was something I want ask you Billy sir. There's this Bright beautiful young pup by the name of Ella Labrador, whom your dad fired for helping me, and I was wondering if you would be willing to give her, her job back," I asked.

"Of course I could give her. her job back, she did a great job at her work," Billy said with a smile.

"Thanks dude," I said.

"No problem," Billy said.

Chase and I then drove back home to the lookout.

"Ella, beautiful, huh," Chase teased.

"No, stop it Chase, we're just good friends," I said, rolling my eyes.

"Mm, okay. What are you going to do now," Chase asked.

"I don't know, probably going down to the beach. The waves seem to always calm me down in times of stress," I said.

I gave Chase a hug and then walked down to the beach. I sat down by the docks and started skipping stones across the calm water. I sat there for a very long time doing nothing but skipping the stones I found along the shore.

Eventually a surprisingly old sailing ship began to dock at the port. Now it's not every day you see a wooden sailing ship like that, so I got up to go see it. Dogs of all breeds, wearing sailor outfits scrambled all over the place, and by the looks of it something big was going down.

"What's going on sir?" I asked one of the many sailor pups.

"Well you see sir, our captain passed away after 15 years of leading us. And so this is our special sailor's funereal," The pup said.

"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. Uh what was his name," I asked.

"William Caspian Labrador. a great captain he was," The pup said.

My mouth dropped open. Impossible, this couldn't be who I thought it was, could it? At this point a big Great Dane climbed up on the mast of the ship and begun to sing an old sea shanty called Hoist the Colours. All the pups lined the docks as four pups started carrying a dog sized casket down the dock.

"The King and his men stole the queen from her bed.

And bound her and her bones.

The sea's be our and by the powers. Were we will we'll roam," sang the Great Dane in a very deep voice.

At the chorus all the sailor pups joined in singing. I found myself singing along as well.

"Yo ho, all hands

Hoist the colors high

Heave ho, thieves and beggars

Never shall we die" sang the sailor pups.

The Great Dane started to sing the next verse. I slowly watched the dogs carrying the casket.

"Now some have died

And some are alive

And others sail on the sea

With the keys to the cage

And the devil to pay

We'll lay to fiddlers green," Sang the Great Dane in his low, rumbling voice.

The sailor pups started to sing the chorus again. My eyes just followed the casket. Finally the Great Dane sang the final verse.

"The bell has been raised

From its watery grave

Do you hear its sepulchral tone?

We call to all

Pay head the squall

And turn yourselves toward home," boomed the Great Dane.

And then the sailor pups and I sang the chorus for the final time.

"Yo ho, all hands

Hoist the colors high

Heave ho, thieves and beggars

Never shall we die.

Yo ho, haul together

Hoist the colors high

Heave ho, thieves and beggars

Never shall we die," Sang the sailor pups.

I continued to watch the casket. I noticed an elderly chocolate lab following the casket carriers.

"Who's that lab, following behind the casket?" I asked the pup next to me.

"Why that's his wife, Elizabeth Caspian Labrador," Responded the pup.

"I see. Did they have any pups?" I asked.

"Yeah, they had three male pups. They threw the youngest into the ocean because they didn't want him. And then later that night the other two were murdered in the cradle," The pup said.

My mouth dropped open.

"Who would murder two newborn pups in a cradle!" I said with shock.

"Nobody knows. They never found who did it. William thought it could have been his first mate at the time because he wanted the ship for himself. But there was no actual evidence that he did do it but as a safety precaution William fired him," Responded the pup.

"Interesting," I said, looking back at the casket carriers.

I followed them all the way to a small church in Adventure Bay. I sat in the back and listened to the funeral myself. After it was done I walked up to Elizabeth Labrador.

"I'm sorry for your loss Miss Elizabeth," I said.

"Thank you kind sir," Elizabeth said.

"I just have one question," I said.

"Uh do I know you, sir" she asked.

"Why did you throw me into the ocean mom," I said

Elizabeth's eyes widened.

"Z…. Zuma, it…it can't be," she stuttered.

"Yes mom, it's me Zuma Caspian Labrador. Now why did you give me up to the wrath of the sea," I said.

Elizabeth started to hyperventilate and collapsed on the floor! I held out my paw to steady her.

"Tell me why, Mom," I asked yet again.

"When you and your brothers were born, your father had some, enemies. His first mate on the ship he was the captain of wanted to be the next captain after he died or retired. But your dad told him that one of his son's would be the next captain. That didn't sit too well with his first mate. Your dad and I had to protect you from him. We put you into a basket and put you into the ocean in hopes that someone would find you. Later that night after we sent you into the ocean our other two pups were murdered," Elizabeth said.

"You put me in the ocean, to protect me?" I said.

"Yes. I'm sorry for everything, Zuma, please forgive me," Elizabeth said.

"How can I not forgive you mom. If you hadn't of thrown my basket into the sea, I would be dead. And I never would have become a member of the paw patrol, I love you mom," I said.

I wrapped my paws around her and we cried together, partly because we were happy to be reunited and partly because of my father's death. After a little while of catching up on stuff with each other, a pup in a sailor outfit approached us.

"Are you really the son of William and Elizabeth Labrador?" The pup asked.

"Yes sir, my name is Zuma Caspian Labrador," I said.

The pup's mouth dropped open.

"Then you are the rightful heir to our ship," the pup said.

"What does that mean?" I asked.

"It means that you now own our ship," the pup said.

"Okay, what do I have to do? I've never been a leader of anything. I've always been a sideline pup," I said.

"Well you really have three options here. One, you would hire a sea captain to run the ship, which is really hard to find one who knows how now days. Or two, you could sell the ship to somebody else. Or three you could become the next captain," the pup said.

"Hm, I think I'll need some time to talk this over with my owner, if that's alright," I said.

"Hey, you take your time dude, we can't go anywhere without a captain," The pup said with a smile.

The pup gave me his pup tag number so I could contact him when I had made my decision. I said good bye to my mom and then went back to the lookout. I went and laid down in my pup house. I looked around for a minute. My pup house shelves were filled with books about sailing and the history of many famous sailing ships. I even had some copies of the ship logs of famous ships.

But ultimately my eyes fell on a picture of me and Rocky at the Maritime museum in England. Ryder let us go for my 7th birthday. The memory of that day suddenly flooded my mind like a sweet aroma. Rocky and I were driving down the small English road. Eventually we arrived in Greenwich and the Maritime museum. We spent all day looking at model sailing ships and other sailing artifacts.

"So what do you want to see next," Rocky asked after hours of walking through the museum.

"The one thing I've always wanted to see. Come on dude," I said rushing over towards the best part of the museum.

Finally we reached what I had wanted to see my whole life; the world's only remaining clipper ship.

"Wocky, I give you the world's only wemaning clipper ship, the Cutty Sark," I said.

Rocky looked up in wonder.

"Wow, now that's a big ship. And it is the last one of its kind you said," Rocky said.

"Yeah, launched November 22 1869, the Cutty Sark originally carried tea from London to Shanghia. Although on her madden voyage she carried wine, spirits and beer to Shanghia and returned to London with 1,305,812 pounds of tea. Then from 1885 to 1893 she traded wool and tallow between London and Australia. She sailed at 17.5 knots, about 32.4 Km/h at full sail," I said staring at the beautiful clipper ship.

"Wow, you sure know a lot about this ship don't you," Rocky said.

"Yeah, I'm a bit of a sailing geek. Wouldn't it be fantastic to sail on one of these ships?" I said.

"As long as I don't get wet," Rocky said.

We both laughed at Rocky's joke. I smiled at the picture and the memory's that came with it. The picture was of me and Rocky standing on the bow of the Cutty Sark. Eventually Ryder stopped by to see how I was doing.

"Hey Zuma, what are you doing?" Ryder asked.

"Oh I'm just looking at a picture of me and Rocky on the Cutty Sark," I said.

"Oh yeah, when you went to England to see the Maritime Museum, you two had a lot of fun on that trip," Ryder said with a smile.

"Yeah, yeah we did," I said with a sigh.

"Is everything alright Zuma?" Ryder asked with concern.

"Ryder, could I talk with you alone in the command center?" I asked with my best puppy eyes look.

"Of course buddy," Ryder said.

Ryder and I took the elevator up to the command center. We sat down on the bean bag chairs.

"What's bothering you Zuma?" Ryder asked.

"Ryder, I…. I met my mother today," I said.

"What!" Ryder said.

"Yeah, Ryder my…. My father's dead and I'm his only offspring left. He was the owner of probably the last sailing ship in the world. And since I'm his only offspring left I'm now the owner of his ship." I said.

"So what are you trying to say Zuma?" Ryder asked.

"What I'm trying to say is I've been offered the position of captain on this ship," I said.

"But if you became the captain then you'd leave, right?" Ryder said.

"Yeah, and to be honest, I kind of want to be the next captain," I said.

"Zuma, you do what makes you happy. Whether that's becoming the captain of your dad's ship or staying here with us, you have the right to choose what you want," Ryder said.

"In that case it's time for me to move on and find a new Adventure," I said.

"Okay bud, do you want me to call the other pups up so you can tell them?" Ryder asked.

"Yeah, that would be great," I said.

Ryder flipped out his pup pad.

"PAW Patrol to the lookout," Ryder said.

The pups all rushed into the elevator. And as usual Marshal crashed into every one else over. The pups all lined up in their normal formation.

"PAW Patrol ready for action Ryder sir," Chase said.

"Thanks for coming up pups. I've called you up here because our friend Zuma here has something he wants to tell you" Ryder said.

The pups exchanged glances. The only reason Ryder would call them up would be for something important.

"Thanks Ryder, um I really don't know how to say this, but early today I discovered that my dad passed away leaving his old sailing ship to me since I'm his only offspring left. So what I'm trying to say I guess is I've chosen to be the next captain," I said.

The pups all gasped.

"So, your leavening," Rocky said sadly.

"Yeah buddy, I'm leaving, but I promise to always come back to visit. Adventure Bay will always be my home, and you will always be my family," I said.

"When will you leave?" Chase asked.

"I don't know, first I'll have to contact the crew and find out the details," I said.

"We'll miss you dude," Marshal said.

"It's been an honor serving this town with you good pups. The PAW Patrol will always have a special place in my heart. But now it's time I move on and find my purpose in this life," I said.

"I hope you find what you're looking for Zuma. And remember that we will always be here for you," Ryder said.

I gave hugs to all my friends and then Ryder dismissed them. I then contacted the sailor pup and set a time later that afternoon to meet the crew. Later that day I walked down to the docks.

"Hello Zuma, My name is Jack, Jack Retriever, and I'm your first mate," the pup named Jack said.

"It's nice to finally know your name Jack," I said.

"Everyone, this is Zuma Caspian Labrador, son of William Caspian Labrador. And he's going to be our new Captain," Jack shouted to the crew.

"Aye… Captain Zuma sir… welcome to the crew," shouted different crew members.

"I'm excited to be your new captain, but I'm going to get some things straight. First of all, what kind of ship is it, cargo, passenger, what do we do?" I asked.

"We're a whaling ship, one of the last ones. We're licensed under the International Whaling Association, or the IWA," Jack said.

"Interesting. And secondly, is there anything I need to sign or read, like for the IWA?" I asked.

"Uh yeah actually, you'll need to read through the IWA's whalemens creed and agree to their laws. And then you'll sign your name under the owner and captain of the ship," Jack said handing me a copy of the IWA's whalemens creed.

I read through the laws and regulations on whaling and agreed to them. Then I signed my name under the owner and captain of the ship.

"Alright, is there anything else I need to know," I asked.

"No, not that I can think of anyway," Jack said.

"Great, I'm super hyped to get started with this new Adventure, but I think I'll need a few days to spend with my friends, if that's okay," I asked.

"Hey, you're the captain and the owner, we follow your command," Jack said with a smile.

"Right then, we set sail Friday morning. That will give me 2 and a half days with my friends, savvy."

"Aye, Aye Captain," shouted the crew.

I then went back to the lookout and started to clean out my pup house. The other pups insisted on helping. Rocky and I dug stuff out and the others sorted stuff into piles.

"Dude why do you have so many buoys, I've pulled like 8 of them out already," Rocky said.

"What can I say, you can never have too many buoys," I said.

The pups all laughed.

"Hey Zuma, I found your sea patrol badge," Chase said.

"I was wondering where that went, I'm definitely taking that with me," I said.

"Oh and I found your sailors outfit that we got at the Cutty Sark museum," Rocky said.

"That's another thing I want to take. Oh and I'll also take my sailing book collection," I said.

The pups and I finished cleaning my pup house out. Then we packed alt the stuff I wanted to take with me into suitcases. That night I went to bed in my nice clean pup house, for once. The next morning Ryder called all our Paw Patrol friends and told them about my new job. So Tracker, Everest, Rex, Liberty, Tuck, Ella, Coral, Wild, Leo, Roary, and Shade, showed up to spend the day with us;

We had a lot of fun that day. We played lots of games, watched wild do his latest motorcycle trick, and played an epic Pup-Pup Boogie dance off, which I won of course. I don't think I've ever had more fun than I did that day with all of my friends.

The next day Captain Turbot beached his ship, the Flounder on Seal Island. Ryder called us up to the command center. I stood in my place in line one last time.

"Zuma I really need you for this mission. Are you up for one last rescue bud?" Ryder asked.

"Ready, set, get wet, let's do this," I said wagging my tail.

For the last time I slide down the lookout slide and into my hovercraft. Rocky used his tug boat and together we pulled the Flounder back out to open water. Afterwards Captain Turbot gave both me and rocky a scratch behind the ear.

"I'm sorry I didn't give you any credit last time, Zuma, your still a part of the team and my friend," Captain Turbot said.

"And I'm sorry I growled at you and Chase, it wasn't right of me," I said.

"Well thanks for getting the flounder unstuck."

"You're welcome Captain. It was a good last mission," I said.

"What do you mean last mission," Captain Turbot asked with confusion.

"I got a job as a captain of a whaling ship and I'll be leaving tomorrow," I said.

"Oh, well good luck with you new job I guess," Captain Turbot said sadly.

"Thanks Captain, and don't worry I'll always come back to visit. And who knows, maybe we'll met each other out on the open ocean," I said.

"Yeah, maybe we will. Well good bye for now, I guess," Captain Turbot said with a smile.

"See you around Captain," I said.

That night Mayor Goodway threw a farewell party for me. The whole town showed up for it. We danced to our favorite songs and I told everyone about my ship and the crew. At the end of the party, Mayor Goodway gave me a medallion for my 15 years of service as Adventure Bay's water rescue pup. I've never felt more loved then I did that night when I saw just how much they appreciated my service.

The next morning the pups and I were up early. They helped me tack all my stuff down to the docks. After I put all my stuff on the ship I went back to say good bye to my friends. Marshal, Rubble, Chase, Rocky, Skye, Everest, Tracker, Liberty, Rex, Tuck, Ella, Coral, Wild, Leo, Roary, and Shade all stood on the dock waiting for me to say good bye.

"Well, this is good bye, for now," I said.

"Good luck Zuma," Chase said.

"I hope you find what you're looking for. Please come back again to visit," Rocky said.

I gave my old puppyhood friend a big hug.

"I promise I will always come back to see you Rocky. Remember we'll always be friends, no scratch that, we will always be brothers," I said.

Rocky smiled and hugged me again. I then turned to Ella.

"Good bye Ella. Thanks for taking care of me, and being there when I needed somebody to help me," I said.

"No, thank you Zuma for getting my job back. Come back soon okay," Ella said.

"I will Ella, I'll come back to see you all, Thank you for all being my friends and family," I said.

"Good bye Zuma, Good luck," Everyone said at once.

With that, I gave everyone a hug and then climbed aboard the ship. I took one last look at my family standing on the dock. Then I gave the command to the crew.

"Gallents, royals, loose all sails, hoist the colors, we set sail for the open ocean," I yelled.

"Aye, Aye Captain," shouted the crew.

The sails were lowered and the ships flag was raised. And I was off, off to find my destiny.

And the Adventure begins, I hope you enjoyed this chapter, please leave a review and I'll see you next time on PAW Patrol: the Wellermen.
