Chapter 68: Hoppy Hopscotch Vs Allister Gator: Roaming In The Waters
It was a new day. KickinChicken was brushing his teeth and was getting ready. Afterwards, he went to his phone and got a text from DogDay.
"Hmm? What's this?" He wondered, "He doesn't want to hang out with me and Hoppy? Why?"
DogDay meanwhile was reading a book in his apartment. He looked at CatNap walking by.
"Hey." DogDay said,
"Oh, hey." CatNap said, confused, "What's going on?"
"Nothing. Just… If you're going on, just go without me. Be careful out there."
"Ok… I'm gonna go hang with Hoppy and Kickin."
"Fair."
CatNap was confused as he shrugged and walked out after getting ready. DogDay had a disgusted look on his face.
"As long as you're not with her…" He said, "I'm alright…"
Hoppy meanwhile was waiting for KickinChicken and CatNap.
"Damn, what's keeping those two long?" She wondered as she looked into her phone, "DogDay doesn't want to hang, but refused to explain why, like tell us what's wrong, we're your friends, damn it…"
Hoppy then looked around.
"Nope, still not there." She said, "Still, what's the hold up?"
Hoppy then heard a voice.
"Hey, what's gotten into you?" The voice wondered, "And can you keep it down? I'm trying to nap."
Hoppy then turned to an alligator critter lying down on a park bench in Verygreen Park.
"Dude, it's illegal to sleep on a park bench." She said, "You could be fine like, I don't know, 100 dollars?"
"Oh yeah?" The alligator critter wondered as he got up and was sitting on the bench now, "Whatcha doing here anyway?"
"Waiting on a friend of mine and my boyfriend so that we can go do some fun shit! I don't know what, but we could end up running a marathon for all I care!"
"Oh, look at you, so energetic… God, you already piss me off when you invade my piracy in terms of my nap."
"Pfft! Ok, that doesn't make any sense, but what are you gonna do about it? Hit me? If you're gonna fight a girl, let the girl hit first!"
The alligator critter got up and stretched himself. His charm representing two bones forming an X was seen dangling down around his neck.
"Come on, hurry up!" Hoppy said,
"Shut it, you!" The alligator critter said, "I never wanted to fight you!"
"I was only threatening you!"
"Threatening me, huh? If you're gonna threaten me, at least do it!"
The two were silent.
"You know what?" The alligator critter said, "Fuck it, let's do something different."
The alligator critter then got out his Duel Disk.
"Oh, NOW you wanna get shit done, huh?" Hoppy said, "And by that, you mean, you wanna duel? Fuck it, I'm done!"
The alligator critter rolled his eyes.
"You piss me off." He said,
"Same for you!" Hoppy shouted as she rolled a fist up in the air, but was stopped by someone,
Hoppy turned around to see KickinChicken and CatNap as the two arrived.
"What the hell is going on here?" KickinChicken wondered,
"Is that your girlfriend?" The alligator critter asked him, "Yeah, she threatened to fight me while I was trying to nap here, and now she's gonna get a duel out of me."
"Why would you do that?" CatNap asked Hoppy,
Hoppy sighed heavily.
"I'm sorry, I don't know what the hell has gotten onto me…" She said, "But I'm not like Catfeine, I didn't drink a shit ton of coffee to feel this energy."
"Wait, you don't drink coffee?" The alligator wondered,
"Hey, are you gonna duel me or not? It's your idea."
"Yeah, sure, why not! Just go to the dueling field here, damn it."
The alligator critter then looked at CatNap and KickinChicken and smirked.
"Oh, and the name's Allister Gator by the way." He said, "Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna teach your friend here not to threaten a chill guy."
Hoppy and Allister then went to the dueling field of Verygreen Park and activated their Duel Disks. KickinChicken sighed heavily.
"Damn it, Hoppy…" He said, "We promised not to threaten anyone when we're gonna be together again…"
"You made some promises together?" CatNap wondered,
"I'll explain later."
"Ok…"
Hoppy and Allister then shouted, "Duel!" to start their duel together.
Turn 1
Hoppy Hopscotch: 4000
Allister Gator: 4000
"Here, go first." Hoppy said,
"Uhhh… Ok." Allister said as he looked at his hand and chuckled, "Oh boy, what a hand."
Allister then sets 4 cards face-down in his Spell/Trap Zone.
"I'll just set 4 and end my turn." He said,
"What the?!" CatNap, Hoppy and KickinChicken all shouted,
"4 cards?!" CatNap said,
"Where is he going all of a sudden?!" KickinChicken said,
Hoppy smirked.
"Ok, cool." She said as she placed her 2 fingers on the top card of her deck, "Watch, this card is gonna destroy your face-down cards!"
Hoppy then draws to start Turn 2. She looked at the card she drew, but rolled her eyes.
"Damn it, this isn't what I wanted, but I'll use it either way!" She said,
"Ok, play it then!" Allister said, "Take your sweet time!"
"Don't even dare rush me!"
"I wasn't rushing you! I was telling you to take your sweet time!"
"Alright, that's it!"
Hoppy then played the card she drew.
"I'll start by activating the Spell Card, Summon Storm!" She shouted, "And by giving up 800 of my Life Points, I can Special Summon a Level 6 or lower WIND Monster from my hand!"
Hoppy's Life Points went down to 3200 as she paid 800 of them to Special Summon a monster from her hand via Summon Storm.
"So I'll Special Summon Armed Dragon Thunder LV5!" Hoppy shouted,
Armed Dragon Thunder LV5 was Special Summoned onto the field in Attack Position with 2400 ATK Points.
"And this guy is treated as Armed Dragon LV5 while on the field or in my Grave!" Hoppy said, "Just a little heads-up, if you wanna know before I move to the Battle Phase!"
"Yeah, yeah, yeah…" Allister said, "Just continue with your turn."
"Sounds like you want me to attack you!"
"Go ahead!"
"Alright, I'm going into the Battle Phase!"
The Battle Phase started.
"My Armed Dragon Thunder LV5 will attack you directly!" Hoppy shouted, "Shock 'em!"
Armed Dragon Thunder LV5 then flew towards Allister for the attack, but Allister smirked.
"I play my Trap Card, Paleozoic Hallucigenia!" He shouted,
One of Allister's face-down cards was activated, being the Trap Card, Paleozoic Hallucigenia.
"A deck of Traps?" CatNap wondered,
"Sounds kinda boring for someone like Allister…" KickinChicken said,
"Ok, what does that do?" Hoppy asked Allister,
"Simple, it targets a monster on the field and halves their current ATK DEF Points until the end of this turn!" Allister replied,
"Wait, what the?!"
Hallucigenia's tentacles came out of the card and injected into Armed Dragon Thunder LV5's veins, halving its ATK Points to 1200. Armed Dragon Thunder LV5 then got rid of the tentacles and continued with the attack on Allister, draining his Life Points to 2800 after dealing 1200 points of damage to him.
"Just a scratch." Allister said, "But worth it."
"Oh great, now you're making me tick off." Hoppy said as she set 2 cards face-down in the Spell/Trap Zone, "I set 2 and I ended it here."
"Alright, I'll draw!"
Allister draws to start Turn 3.
Turn 3
Hoppy Hopscotch: 3200
Allister Gator: 2800
"Alright, what's next for the little old me?" Allister wondered as he looked at his 2 cards in his hands, "I guess I can activate this neat little card in my hand!"
Allister then activated a Spell Card in his hand.
"I'll start by activating this Spell Card known as Time-Tearing Morganite!" He said, "For the rest of this Duel, I cannot activate monster effects from my hand, but on the plus size, I can Draw 2 instead of 1 during my Draw Phase and I can conduct 2 Normal Summons/Sets per turn!"
"Wait, you threw me off guard!" Hoppy said,
"No way this guy can now draw 2 every time he draws!" KickinChicken said,
"Unfortunately he can…" CatNap said, "The card effect applies to these effects for the rest of this Duel…"
"Damn, lucky him!"
Allister smirked.
"I think it's time I activate a Trap now this turn!" He said, "Behold, Paleozoic Olenoides!"
The Trap Card, Paleozoic Olenoides was activated.
"Another Paleozoic…" Hoppy said, "Ok. what does this one do?"
"This one destroys a Spell/Trap Card on the field!" Allister said as he pointed to the set card on Hoppy's left, "So let's get rid of that one on the left! But first! I activate the effect of Paleozoic Hallucigenia from my Graveyard!"
"From the Graveyard?!"
"When a Normal Trap is activated, I can Special Summon this card as a Normal Monster!"
Paleozoic Hallucigenia was Special Summoned from the field as a Level 2 Normal Monster in Attack Position with 1200 ATK Points.
"Ok, now for Olenoides to destroy that card I wanted to destroy!" Allister continued,
The card Allister destroyed via Paleozoic Olenoides was Forbidden Droplet.
"Damn it, I needed that!" Hoppy said, "But then again, I had zero clue what you were playing…"
Allister smirked.
"Now for the 2nd Trap!" He said, "I flip up, Paleozoic Marrella!"
The Trap Card, Paleozoic Marrella was activated.
"This time I can send 1 Trap from my Deck to my Graveyard!" Allister said,
"Huh, so that's one less Trap to worry about…" Hoppy said,
"Are you sure about that? Olenoides will activate its 2nd effect from the Graveyard! When a Trap is activated while its in my Graveyard, I can Special Summon it as a Normal Monster!"
"Another one?!"
Paleozoic Olenoides was Special Summoned back from the Graveyard in Attack Position with 1200 ATK Points and as a Level 2 Normal Monster like Hallucigenia.
"Now continuing with Marrella, I'll send this Trap Card to the Graveyard." Allister said as he sends a Trap Card called, The Black Goat Laughs, from his Deck to his Graveyard,
"Where is he going with these Traps?!" Hoppy said, "God, I feel like he's boring me to death!"
"One more Trap to activate!" Allister said, "I reveal Trap Trick!"
Trap Trick was activated.
"Woah, this feels like one of Picky's cards!" KickinChicken said,
"Seems likely…" CatNap said, "Or, wait, that's Traptantalizing Tune, isn't it?"
Yeah, that one!"
"And before I show you all what Trap Trick does, I activate Paleozoic Marrella from my Graveyard, and you know what comes next!"
"Special Summoning it as a Normal Monster when a Trap Card is activated?" Hoppy said, annoyed,
"Correct!"
Paleozoic Marrella was Special Summoned onto the field in Attack Position with 1200 ATK Points and as a Level 2 Normal Monster.
"Now to continue with Trap Trick, I'll banish another Normal Trap from my Deck and set another one with the same name as the banished Trap!" Allstars said, "And the best part? I can activate it this turn, but I don't think I need it yet!"
A copy of the Trap Card, Paleozoic Canadia, was banished for another one to be set onto Allister's field.
"Ok, you've set your Canadia!" Hoppy said, agitated, "But your three Paleozoics on the field are too weak to take down my Armed Dragon Thunder LV5!"
"Is that so?" Allister said as he smirked, "Then I'll overlay my 3 Paleozoics to form the Overlay Network!"
"Huh?!"
"Oh he can Xyz Summon!" KickinChicken said,
"What is he gonna Xyz Summon with those 3 Paleozoics of his?" CatNap wondered,
Paleozoics Hallucigenia, Olenoides and Marrella were used as Xyz Materials for an Xyz Summon and to build the Overlay Network.
"You don't see underwater creatures like this one!" Allister chanted, "Because the more rare the Paleozoics are, the more dangerous they are! Xyz Summon!"
A long Paleozoic monster slowly emerges.
"Swimming season is upon you, so get hunting, Rank 2, Paleozoic Anomalocaris!" Allister shouted,
Rank 2, Paleozoic Anomalocaris was Xyz Summoned in Attack Position with 2400 ATK Points.
"Ok, now he's got a monster with equal power as my dragon…" Hoppy said, surprised, "But let's hope that monster's effect doesn't do anything to my dragon…"
"I activate the effect of my Paleozoic Anomalocaris!" Allister said as he detached Paleozoic Hallucigenia from Anomalocaris, "By detaching an Xyz Material, and when my monster has a Trap Card as Xyz Material, I can destroy a card on the field!"
"God damn it!"
"So say goodbye to your Armed Dragon Thunder LV5 as Paleozoic Anomalocaris is gonna hunt it down to bits! Atrocious Anomaly!"
Paleozoic Anomalocaris then bites Armed Dragon Thunder LV5, destroying it.
"Crap, I'm wide open!" Hoppy said,
"Indeed you are!" Allister said, "Time to battle!"
The Battle Phase started again.
"Paleozoic Anomalocaris, attack Hoppy directly with Anomaly's Pressure Point!" Allister shoutes,
Paleozoic Anomalocaris then attacked Hoppy, dealing 2400 points of damage to her, draining her Life Points to 800.
"Hoppy!" KickinChicken shouted,
"Hoppy! Are you good?" CatNap said,
"Don't worry, guys, I'm fine!" Hoppy said,
Hoppy was seen on one knee, almost shaking.
"Damn…" She said, "His Deck is unique… Almost too unique for a boring looking guy…"
Hoppy then got up as Allister sighed heavily.
"Well, that's a relief." He said, "Good thing I didn't kill you, otherwise, that would be a big mess to clean up."
Hoppy face palmed and took a deep breath.
"Ok, carry on." She said,
"Actually, it's your turn." Allister said, "I'll just end my turn right here."
"Oh, you're too kind."
"Sarcasm?"
"Sarcasm."
Hoppy then placed two fingers on the top card of her Deck and closed her eyes.
"Alright, get me out of this duel that I got myself into…" She said, "I'm drawing right now!"
Hoppy then draws to start Turn 4.
Turn 4
Hoppy Hopscotch: 800
Allister Gator: 2800
Hoppy looked at the card she drew and smiled.
"Alright, Allister, you want to see some energy?" She wondered, "Because I'm going in!"
"Uh-oh." Allister said, "Wait, I shouldn't be worried."
"You shouldn't be worried? I think you should! This girl is gonna become your worst nightmare!"
CatNap and KickinChicken share a chuckle together. Hoppy then revealed her other face-down card.
"I'm actually glad you didn't destroy this card!" She said, "The Continuous Trap Card, Fiendish Chain!"
Fiendish Chain was activated.
"Shit!" Allister said,
"Oh yes, with this card, I can target your Paleozoic Anomalocaris and negate its effects!" Hoppy said,
"Not if I activate Anomalocaris's effect!"
Allister then detached Paleozoic Olenoides from Paleozoic Anomalocaris to activate the effect of Anomalocaris.
"Anomalocaris will destroy your Fiendish Chain!" Allister said,
Fiendish Chain was destroyed under the effect of Anomalocaris.
"And not only that, I can bring back my 2 Paleozoics from my Graveyard since you've activated a Trap!" Allister said,
"Oh shit, I forgot!" Hoppy shouted,
Paleozoic Hallucigenia and Olenoides were brought back from the Graveyard in Attack Position, both with 1200 ATK Points and as Level 2 Normal Monsters.
"Damn it, you've walled yourself!" Hoppy said, "Shit, I almost had a clear opening!"
Allister chuckled.
"You forgot that my Paleozoics from my Graveyard can also be Special Summoned when you activate a Trap as well!" He said,
"So it doesn't matter who's activating a Trap…" Hoppy said, "Your Paleozoics after being detached and sent to the Graveyard are just gonna keep coming back…"
"Ok, back to square one for me…"
Hoppy looked at her hand.
"And I think I know what's next!" She said as she revealed Pile Armed Dragon, "My trusty Pile Armed Dragon that I drew to start this turn!"
Hoppy then sends Tempest, Dragon Ruler Of Storms from her hand to the Graveyard.
"And by sending a WIND Dragon from my hand to my grave, Pile Armed Dragon will be Special Summoned onto the field!" She said, "So let's get some thunder cracking, Pile Armed Dragon!"
From Hoppy's hand, Pile Armed Dragon was Special Summoned in Attack Position with 2800 ATK Points.
"Oh damn, he's a huge dragon!" Allister said,
"But wait, he has a special effect!" Hoppy said as she sends Armed Dragon Thunder LV10 from her Deck to the Graveyard under Pile Armed Dragon's effect, "By sending an Armed Dragon monster my Deck to the Graveyard, I can target a monster I control and by only attacking with 1 monster this turn, the targeted monster gains ATK Points equal to the level of the sent monster times 300!"
"You lost me, but I know it's a sign of defeat for me, and I won't let that happen!"
"Why?"
"From my Graveyard, I activate an effect of my Trap Card, The Black Goat Laughs!"
"Huh?"
From Allister's Graveyard, The Black Goat Laughs was activated and was banished.
"By banishing The Black Goat Laughs from my Graveyard, I can target 1 face-up monster on the field and neither of us can activate the effects of that name until the end of this turn!" Allister said, "You know what they say? There's always revenge from the grave!"
Hoppy sighed heavily.
"Great, so he just canceled out the effect…" She said, "But on the bright side, I've still got another trick up my sleeve… He won't know it just yet…"
Hoppy then clenched her fist.
"Alright, time for battle!" She said,
"Wait, she's battling already?!" KickinChicken said, "What about Canadia?"
"Considering that we have no clue what Canadia does, Allister might have something up his sleeve…" CatNap said,
The Battle Phase started again. Hoppy pointed at one of Allister's Paleozoics.
"Piled Armed Dragon will attack Paleozoic Hallucigenia!" Hoppy shouted, "Pile Armed Slash!"
Pile Armed Dragon roared as it went to Paleozoic Hallucigenia and slashed it to bits. Allister then took 1600 points of damage, draining his Life Points to 1200.
"...He didn't do anything." KickinChicken said,
"So I was right…" CatNap said, "Allister does have something up his sleeve… But what?"
Hoppy was confused.
"Y-You didn't even…" She said,
"Yeah, although my Hallucigenia got banished when it left the field, like my other Paleozoic Trap Monsters…" Allister said, "I have a plan to win this duel next turn, so sacrificing some of my Life Points during your turn was pretty much the right call."
Hoppy was still confused.
"I don't trust you." She said, "But if you insist, then I end my turn."
"What, she's ending her turn already?!" KickinChicken said, "She better do something about it next turn, or it's game over!"
Allister chuckled.
"Cool, I draw 2 now!" He said as he draws 2 cards to start Turn 5, "Thank you, Time-Tearing Morganite!"
Turn 5
Hoppy Hopscotch: 800
Allister Gator: 1200
"Now to use my Trap Card, Paleozoic Canadia!" Allister said as he did so to start his turn, "I bet you're all wondering what this card does now, but here's what it does! I target a face-up monster my opponent controls and change it to face-down Defense Position!"
"Oh, that's it?" Hoppy wondered,
"Yeah! Time to flip your Pile Armed Dragon face-down!"
Paleozoic Canadia then switched Pile Armed Dragon to face-down Defense Position.
"Now for Paleozoic Anomalocaris's other effect that I haven't used!" Allister said, "Once per turn, whenever a Trap Card of mine is sent from my Spell Trap Zone to the Graveyard, I can excavate the top card of my Deck, and if it's a Trap Card, I add it to my hand!"
"Oh boy…" Hoppy said,
"Here goes!"
Allister then revealed the top card of his Deck. Unfortunately, it wasn't a Trap Card, it was a Monster called Ipiria.
"Well, unfortunately he's not going into my hand." He said,
Hoppy sighed in relief.
"What? I'm not done yet!" Allister said, "I activate the 2nd effect of my Paleozoic Anomalocaris! Destroy her face-down Pile Armed Dragon, Atrocious Anomaly!"
Paleozoic Anomalocaris then destroyed Pile Armed Drundn under its effect after Allister detached Paleozoic Marrella from Anomalocaris.
"Hoppy, you're wide open!" KickinChicken said, "Are you sure you know what you're doing, babe?!"
"Hey, don't be a mother hen, Kickin!" Hoppy replied, "I know what I'm doing!"
KickinChicken blushed.
"M-Mother hen?" He wondered, "That sounded kinda hot…"
"That literally means you are always worried about her." CatNap said,
"Oh, but still…"
CatNap rolled his eyes and chuckled at the same time.
"Don't ever change back to your egotistical self, Kickin…" He said,
Allister then stretched a bit.
"Well, it's been a fun duel!" He said, "But unfortunately, it's gonna have to end, right now! Time to battle!"
The Battle Phase started again.
"Paleozoic Anomalocaris will now attack you directly to end this duel!" Allister said, "Anomaly's Pressure Point!"
Paleozoic Anomalocaris went for the attack, but Hoppy smiled as she kicked back and revealed her last card in her hand.
"I activate the effect of Swift Scarecrow!" She said as she sends it the Graveyard, "If you declare a direct attack, I can send Swift Scarecrow to the Graveyard to end the Battle Phase!"
"What?!" Allister shouted, "You tricked me!"
"Not only that, but I found a way to get through whatever defense you got until you ran out of them!"
Allister was getting frustrated all of a sudden.
"Damn it, what should I do?!" He wondered, "I gotta end my turn! She had no cards in her and on her field, so I should be good!"
Allister then looked at Hoppy, still frustrated.
"I end my turn!" He said, "Go, do something!"
"I will!" Hoppy said as she closed her eyes and placed her two fingers on the top card of her Deck, "Alright… This is another do or die situation… You gotta answer me, my cards… I draw!"
Hoppy draws to start Turn 6. She looked at the card she drew and got excited.
"Oh yeah!" She shouted, "That's what I'm talking about!"
"What did you drew?!" Allister shouted,
Hoppy revealed the card she drew, surprising everyone.
"The Spell Card, Monster Reborn!" She shouted,
"Yeah!" KickinChicken shouted,
"She drew an out!" CatNap shouted,
"No!" Allister shouted, "But how?! You can only play 1 copy of that card!"
"I guess I have faith in my cards." Hoppy replied as she played Monster Reborn, "And I've somehow planted the seeds to your defeat, since I have Armed Dragon Thunder LV10 in my Graveyard! So that's who I'll be bringing back to my field under Monster Reborn's effect!"
Big lightning bolts started to strike down behind Hoppy.
"Strike down my enemies with your armed lightning bolts of evolution!" Hoppy chanted, "Come forth, Armed Dragon Thunder LV10!"
Armed Dragon Thunder LV10 was Special Summoned from the Graveyard and onto the field via Monster Reborn's effect, in Attack Position with 4000 ATK Points.
"Oh crap." Allister said, worried,
"Yeah, you got nothing else in your armory to slay this dragon, huh?" Hoppy wondered, "But it doesn't matter, I will make this quick!"
The Battle Phase started one more time.
"Armed Dragon Thunder LV10, attack Paleozoic Anomalocaris and wipe out the rest of Allister's Life Points!" Hoppy shouted, "Thunderous Overdrive!"
Armed Dragon Thunder LV10 then roared as it struck down lightning from one of its claws directly at Paleozoic Anomalocaris, destroying it and dealing 1600 points of damage to Allister, draining his Life Points down to 0. Hoppy sighed in relief as she giggled a bit.
"I still got it!" She said,
CatNap and KickinChicken sighed in relief.
"At least she didn't go overboard again…" KickinChicken said,
"Again?" CatNap wondered,
"I'll speak about it later, as usual."
"Ok…"
Allister was seen on the ground after dealing with an attack that almost sent him flying.
"Damn it…" He said as he then chuckled, "She really is the opposite of me…"
Hoppy went over to offer him a hand.
"Huh?" Allister wondered,
"Look…" Hoppy said as she got him up, "I'm sorry I got fed up over you and for threatening you."
"Oh, it's cool. Sorry if I was making you under a bad environment."
"Nah, it's all on me. I started this whole fiasco, anyways…"
"Alright, I forgive you."
CatNap and KickinChicken went to be with Hoppy and Allister.
"So, what brings you here?" CatNap asked him,
"Oh, I was waiting on a message from– Wait a minute, aren't you CatNap?" Allister said to him,
"Yeah, why?"
"Baba told me about you."
KickinChicken and Hoppy were surprised.
"You got a girlfriend as well, dude?" KickinChicken asked him,
CatNap blushed.
"N-No!" He said, "I-I just reconnected with her! Please don't tell DogDay you guys, I beg of you!"
"Don't worry, dude, your secret is safe with us!" KickinChicken said,
"Yeah, we'll keep our mouths shut about you and Baba!" Hoppy said,
"Thanks…" CatNap said,
"Yeah, Baba Chops told me about you." Allister said, "She thinks you can help her with something…"
"Something? With what?"
"I don't know… But I'll keep her updated."
Allister then noticed that he's got a phone call.
"Oh crap! Someone's calling me!" He said, "Gotta go, until we meet again, I guess!"
"Take care!" KickinChicken said,
"Stay safe!" Hoppy said,
Allister then ran on his way. CatNap sighed heavily.
"So… Now what?" He wondered,
"Wanna get something to eat?" KickinChicken wondered, "I know it's early, but me and Hoppy didn't eat a major breakfast this morning."
"Sure! Take me somewhere, and I'll eat there."
