Chapter 69: Robert BearHug Vs Poe: Sinful Spoils
Meanwhile, Bubba, CraftyCorn and PickyPiggy were on their way to meet with Bobby and Robert.
"So Robert knows this KittyNap individual…" Bubba said, "And he believes that KittyNap and CatNap might be related…"
"It makes sense, don't it?" PickyPiggy wondered, "They both got Nap in their names."
"But what made them separate?" CraftyCorn wondered, "Family issues?"
"It's unknown…" Bubba replied, "But once we find some time to talk to CatNap about it, we'll find out why."
"Hey, guys?" PickyPiggy said to them, "Ain't that Bobby's younger bro running up to us?"
The 3 then saw Robert running up to them. When he arrived, he was out of breath.
"Robert, are you ok?" Bubba asked him,
"I'm… fine…" Robert replied, "Bobby… needs… help!"
"She needs help?!"
"Yes! No time to explain! Follow me! Oh, this is too much running for me!"
The group then followed Robert to where he wanted them to go, to see Bobby.
Bobby on the other hand was dueling someone as she was dealt with a powerful attack from a monster to Visas Starfrost, dealing enough points of damage for her Life Points to drain down to 0. Bobby was shocked to see what duel she was in.
"Woah… Ok, time out…" She said as she then sat on the ground while on her knees, "Who… are you? And what do you want?"
A raven critter wearing gray glasses, some makeup on their eyes, a light purple suit without a tie, but 3 buttons, black boots and a charm of a cloud shooting a lightning bolt out of it straightened their glasses and sighed.
"Waste of my time." They said,
"Waste of your time?" Bobby said, "You just dueled me without hesitation or asking me! Just tell me what you want, please!"
The raven critter rolled their eyes as they looked at something next to Bobby, but from afar.
"Oh, what's this?" They wondered, "It seems you got some friends behind you?"
"Huh?" Bobby wondered,
Bobby got up and turned back to see her friends, girlfriend and brother running up to them.
"Bobby!" Robert said, "I brought them here!"
"Are you alright, babe?" PickyPiggy asked her,
"I'm fine…" Bobby replied as she showed her allies the raven critter, "This individual… They just dueled me without a reason or hesitation. Someone better talk some sense into them…"
"...I'll do it." Robert said,
"Huh?! Robert? Are you sure?"
"Don't worry, I'm sure. I'll take care of…"
Robert looked at the raven critter.
"Excuse me, what's your name?" He asked them,
"Poe." Poe replied,
"Poe. I'll duel Poe." Robert said to Bobby,
"Ok, be careful." Bobby said,
"Thanks."
Robert then got out his Duel Disk from his back pack and put it on his wrist. He then inserted his Deck to activate it. Poe, the raven critter's name, started to think.
"Hmm…" They wondered, "Robert BearHug, is it?"
"Y-Yes, why?" Robert wondered,
"Oh, nothing, I heard of your sister's name until I got the chance to duel her."
"Why did you duel her?"
"You'll have to duel me right now until the end, to find out."
"Ok… Also, why is your name Poe?"
"Don't question my life, kid."
"Sorry, sorry…"
Poe then recollected their cards to shuffle their Deck and Extra Deck while their Duel Disk was already activated. They and Robert shouted, "Duel!" to start their duel together.
Turn 1
Robert BearHug: 4000
Poe: 4000
Poe straightened their glasses.
"Do you want me to go first?" They asked Robert,
"Sure." Robert replied, "I want to see what you're playing and what I'm expecting from you."
"Alright, let's expect the worst from either one of us, shall we?"
Poe then played a monster to start their turn.
"I'll start by Normal Summoning the Tuner Monster, Silvy Of The White Forest in Attack Position!" They said,
Silvy Of The White Forest was Normal Summoned in Attack Position with 1500.
"White Forest?" Bubba wondered,
"That's a unique name…" CraftyCorn wondered, "And that monster is a Tuner, so Poe is definitely running a Synchro deck…"
"Their deck is nothing like mine…" Bobby said, "I don't know if you guys are gonna believe me, but I think Poe's White Forest Deck is similar to my brother's Deck…"
"What?" Bubba wondered,
"Whatcha talking about, babe?" PickyPiggy wondered,
"I think…" Bobby replied as she then sighed, "You guys should find out for yourselves."
Poe then went into their deck.
"When Silvy is Normal or Special Summoned, I can add a White Forest Spell or Trap Card from my Deck to my hand." They said as they did so, "And I'll add Scourge Of The White Forest, but I won't be using it to activate its effect."
"Huh?" Robert wondered, "What are you gonna do with it?"
"Simple."
Poe then revealed another monster in their hand.
"I activate the effect of Elzette Of The White Forest from my hand." They said as they send Scourge Of The White Forest from their hand to the Graveyard, "By sending 1 Spell or Trap from my hand or field to the Graveyard, I can Special Summon Elzette from my hand!"
Elzette Of The White Forest was Special Summoned in Defense Position with 0 DEF Points.
"And after Special Summoning, I will add a different White Forest monster from my Deck to my Hand." They said as they did so by adding a monster called Astellar Of The White Forest from their Deck to their hand and revealed it to Robert before adding it to their hand,
"Huh…" Robert said, "That monster they just added… It's familiar to one of mine, isn't it?"
"And now for Scourge Of The White Forest to activate from my Graveyard. When it's sent there from my hand or my field to activate a monster effect, I can set it to my field."
Scourge Of The White Forest was set onto Poe's Graveyard.
"What a unique effect…" Bubba said,
"Yes, it was nothing I've ever seen before…" Bobby said,
Poe then straightened their glasses.
"Now that I have a Tuner and a non-tuner, I think it's about time I Synchro Summon." They said, "I tune my Level 4 Silvy Of The White Forest with my Level 2 non-tuner Elzette Of The White Forest."
"Here it comes!" CraftyCorn said,
"What are they gonna Synchro Summon?" PickyPiggy wondered,
A Synchro Summon has started between Level 4 tuner Silvy Of The White Forest and Level 2 non-tuner Elzette Of The White Forest.
"From the deeper depths of the White Forest, I Synchro Summon, the Level 6 tuner, Rciela, Sinister Soul Of The White Forest!" Poe shouted,
The Level 6 Tuner Monster Rciela, Sinister Soul Of The White Forest was Synchro Summoned in Attack Position 2000 ATK Points, but was increased to 2500.
"A Synchro Tuner monster…" Bubba said,
"It's just like Visas Amritara and Mannadium Trisukta…" Bobby said,
"And Golden Cloud Beast - Malong." CraftyCorn said,
"Hey, guys?" PickyPiggy wondered, "Can't hear anything from y'all chatting!"
"Oh, sorry, Picky." Bobby said,
"It's fine. Poe is gonna activate the effect of that monster right about now."
"When Rciela is Synchro Summoned, I can send 1 Spell or Trap from my hand or field to the Graveyard to add a White Forest card or 1 LIGHT Spellcaster monster from my Deck to my Hand." Poe said as they sent a Trap Card called, Woes Of The White Forest from their Hand to their Graveyard to add another monster called Rucia Of The White Forest from their Deck to their Hand, "And now for the effect of my Trap Card, Woes Of The White Forest, from my Graveyard. Like Scourge Of The White Forest, when sent there to activate a monster effect, I can set it to my field."
Woes Of The White Forest was set onto the Graveyard again.
"Alright, I'll end my turn now." Poe said, "Go ahead, young one."
"Oh! Uhhh… Ok!" Robert said as he felt confident, "Here I go!"
Robert draws to start Turn 2. He looked at his hand and thought for a moment.
"Poe's Rciela has 2000 ATK Points, but is increased to 2500…" He said to himself, "I wonder why… Well, guess there's no time to waste."
Robert then discards a Quick-Play Spell called, "WANTED: Seeker Of Sinful Spoils" from his hand to the Graveyard.
"I discard 1 card to Special Summon this monster from my hand!" Robert said as he then started to chant, "Seek out the Sinful Spoils and create an everlasting flame of it! Come forth, Diabellstar The Black Witch!"
Diabellstar The Black Witch was Special Summoned from Robert's hand in Attack Position with 2500 ATK Points.
"There she is!" Bobby said,
"Oh…" Poe said, surprised, "Diabellstar…"
"Ok, when Diabellstar is Normal or Special Summoned, I can set 1 Sinful Spoils Spell or Trap directly from my Deck!" Robert said as he does so, being the Trap Card, Sinful Spoils Of Slumber - Morrian, "Alright, I'm not sure I'm doing this right, but I'm gonna go battle!"
The Battle Phase started again.
"You're gonna battle my monster who has the same ATK Points as your's?" Poe wondered, "That's a little risky."
"It may be, but I'm also a little risky as well." Robert said, "In duels like these."
Bobby, Picky, Crafty and Bubba all share a wholesome chuckle.
"Awww, why did I find it adorable?" CraftyCorn wondered,
"I don't know, but he sometimes talks like that!" Bobby said, "And I don't have a problem with that, since he's my little brother!"
Robert then raised a fist up.
"Alright, Diabellstar, attack Rciela!" He shouted, "Sinful Black Magic!"
Diabellstar then went to attack Rciela.
"You're making a big mistake!" Poe said, "Both monsters are gonna get destroyed!"
"Your monster is!" Robert said, "Because before Diabellstar goes for the kill, I activate this Quick-Play Spell from my hand, Sinful Spoils Struggle!"
Sinful Spoils Struggle was activated.
"I can target any number of cards on the field up to the number of Sinful Spoils cards that are banished or in the Graveyards and destroy them!" Robert said, "And since I have 1 Sinful Spoils card in my Graveyard, I can destroy 1 card you control, so your Rciela is gone!"
"Oh, really?" Poe wondered, "But I still have THIS card! My Trap Card, Woes Of The White Forest!"
Robert gasped as Woes Of The White Forest was activated.
"Oh no, w-what does that do?!" He asked them,
"I can Special Summon a White Monster from my hand or my Deck and then after this effect resolves, I can Synchro Summon 1 White Forest Synchro Monster!"
"What?!"
"That's right! From my Deck, I'll go ahead and Special Summon Azamina Elzette Of The White Forest!"
Azamina Elzette Of The White Forest was Special Summoned onto the field from Poe's Deck in Attack Position with 0 ATK Points.
"Now I tune my Level 6 Rciela, Sinister Soul Of The White Forest with my Level 2 Azamina Elzette Of The White Forest!" Poe shouted,
"Here comes another Synchro Summon!" PickyPiggy shouted,
Another Synchro Summon has started, but this time with the Level 6 tuner Rciela, Sinister Soul Of The White Forest and Level 2 non-tuner Azamina Elzette Of The White Forest.
"Rule over the White Forest to tell a story of the ages!" Poe chanted, "Synchro Summon!"
A queen in white and shades of green and purple emerges from the Synchro Summon.
"Scourge away, Level 8, Diabell, Queen Of The White Forest!" Poe shouted,
Diabell, Queen Of The White Forest was Synchro Summoned in Attack Position with 2500 ATK Points.
"And when Synchro Summoned using a Tuner Synchro Monster as Synchro Material, I can add a Spell or Trap from my Graveyard to my Hand." Poe said as they returned Woes Of The White Forest from their Graveyard to their Hand, "And I know which card will do the trick."
"Great, so I guess my plan failed." Robert said,
"But, there's more after your plan failed! I activate the effect of my Azamina Elzette Of The White Forest from my Graveyard! When sent there as Synchro Material, I can add a Sinful Spoils card from my Deck to my Hand."
"Wait, what?!" PickyPiggy said, shocked,
"Huh?!" Bubba said, shocked,
"There's no way!" CraftyCorn said, shocked,
"Wait, did I just hear that right?" Robert said, shocked,
"Correct." Poe replied as they searched their Deck for a Sinful Spoils card to add to their hand, "You're not the only one that possesses the Sinful Spoils, young critter."
Poe then revealed a card Robert surprisingly has as well, being the Quick-Play Spell, WANTED: Seeker Of Sinful Spoils. This surprised him more than the others.
"No way…" Robert said, "You have Diabellstar too?! I thought I was the only one in possession of that card!"
"Let's just say the Sinful Spoils expand to more than just you and what you have." Poe said,
"I… I don't know what else to say… This is all so new…"
Robert sighed.
"Ok, I guess this is gonna be a pickle for me." He said, "I'll end my turn."
"End your turn already?" Poe wondered, "Hmm, ok then…"
Bobby was concerned.
"I hope Robert knows what he's doing…" She said,
"Yeah, never thought of Poe also having some similar cards as ya bro…" PickyPiggy said,
Poe then draws to start Turn 3.
"Well, I guess it's time." They said as they put the card they drew in their hand to reveal the card they had earlier, being WANTED: Seeker Of Sinful Spoils, "I activate my Quick-Play Spell, WANTED: Seeker Of Sinful Spoils, which lets me add a Diabellstar monster from my Deck or Graveyard to my Hand."
Poe then adds their own copy of Diabellstar The Black Witch from their Deck to their Hand. Poe then discards Woes Of The White Forest from their Deck to their Graveyard.
"Now, I'll discard Woes Of The White Forest from my hand, to Special Summon my own Diabellstar!" Poe shouted,
Poe's own Diabellstar The Black Witch was Special Summoned onto their side of the field in Attack Position with 2500 ATK Points.
"And just like your Diabellstar, when she's Normal or Special Summoned, I can set a Sinful Spoils Spell or Trap Card directly from my Deck to my field." Poe said, "So let's see which one I'll be setting…"
Poe went into their Deck and showed another Quick-Play Spell to set under Diabellstar's effect.
"I shall choose the Quick-Play Spell, Sinful Spoils Of Doom - Rciela." They said as they set it onto their field, "But where's the fun in that if I can activate it right now?"
"Uh-oh." Robert said,
"Oh, before I do that, I activate Woes Of The White Forest from my Graveyard again! And you should know what it does by now…"
Woes Of The White Forest was set back onto Poe's field.
"Alright, now for me to activate the effect of my Sinful Spoils Of Doom - Rciela!" Poe said as they activated the Quick-Play Spell that was already set, "This lets me target a Level 7 or higher Spellcaster monster I control and apply 2 effects."
"2 effects?!" Robert said,
"Oh yes, 2 is always better than 1. So here's the 1st effect upon targeting my Diabellstar The Black Witch! She is unaffected by other monster effects this turn, but she will be sent to the Graveyard at the Standby Phase of the next turn."
"Ok… What about the 2nd effect?"
"See for yourself."
Robert's Diabellstar's ATK Points went down to 0, and not only that, she was also destroyed.
"Diabellstar!" Robert said, "What happened?"
"Your Diabellstar lost ATK Points equal to the ATK Points of my Diabellstar. And if her ATK Points went to 0, then she is destroyed."
"But you still trigger her effect upon being destroyed during your turn!"
"Oh did I?"
"Yes, you did!" By sending 1 card from my hand or my field to the Graveyard, I can Special Summon her back!"
Robert then sends Sinful Spoils Of Slumber - Morrian that he set earlier to the Graveyard to Special Summon back his Diabellstar from the Graveyard, in Attack Position again.
"And when she's Special Summoned, I can set another Sinful Spoils Spell or Trap Card from my–" Robert said as he was cut off by Poe,
"--Stop right there!" Poe said, "Unfortunately, you won't be setting anything! I activate the effect of my Effect Veiler from my hand!"
Poe then showed an Effect Veiler from their hand.
"By sending this card from my hand to my Graveyard, I can negate the activation of a monster you control and their effects until the end of this turn!" They said,
"Oh no!" Robert shouted,
Robert's Diabellstar's effects were negated thanks to Effect Veiler.
"I gotta say, you won't give up!" Poe said, "But that's ok, because I won't! I activate the effect of my Diabell, Queen Of The White Forest!"
"Another effect?!" Robert shouted,
"When you activate a card effect, I can send a Spell/Trap Card from my hand or field to the Graveyard to Special Summon 1 Level 7 or lower Tuner Synchro Monster from my Extra Deck, Graveyard or banished from play!"
"You're kidding!"
"I wish I was, but that's the true nature of The White Forest."
Poe then sends a Spell Card called, Beware The White Forest from their hand to the Graveyard.
"Now, coming out from my Extra Deck, deep from the woods, I Special Summon Silvera, Wolf Tamer Of The White Forest!" They shouted,
2 giant wolves came out with glittering yellow as the Level 6 Tuner Synchro Monster Silvera, Wolf Tamer Of The White Forest was Special Summoned from the Extra Deck and onto Poe's field in Attack Position with 1900 ATK Points, but was increased to 2400. Diabell's ATK Points went up to 3000, it seems.
"There goes that ATK Point boost…" Robert said, "But Diabell's ATK Points went up as well…"
"I shall now activate the effect of my Silvera, Wolf Tamer Of The White Forest!" Poe said, "Upon being Special Summoned, I can change all face-up monsters you control to face-down Defense Position!"
"What?!"
Robert's Diabellstar was then switched to face-down Defense Position.
"Oh no…" He said, "And they have enough to win this duel, don't they?"
Poe then straightened their glasses and sighed a bit.
"Well, like my duel against your sister, this will also end short." They said, "Time for battle."
The Battle Phase started again.
"Silvera will now attack your set Diabellstar!" Poe shouted,
Silvera then attacked Diabellstar who had 2000 DEF Points and destroyed her, dealing 1000 points of damage to Robert, draining his Life Points to 3600.
"Oh yeah, Silvera can have Illusion and Spellcaster Synchro Monsters I control, gain 500 ATK Points and inflict piercing damage when they attack a monster in Defense Position. Rciela can also have that effect, but the 2nd effect is different where she can have the Illusion and Spellcaster Synchro Monsters not be destroyed by card effects."
Robert realized he's wide open and has nothing in his hand to help him.
"Crap." He said, "I have nothing, and I'm wide open!"
"Unfortunately, you are." Poe said, "Now, my Diabellstar will use her Sinful Black Magic and my Diabell will use her White Forest Wrath to attack you directly and end this duel!"
Poe's Diabellstar The Black Witch and Diabell, Queen Of The White Forest went to attack Robert, one by one and dealt the rest of their combined battle damage to Robert's Life Points, draining them down to 0. Poe was the winner. Robert turned away, a little sad.
"Phooey." He said, "I didn't have a good hand, unfortunately…"
"Robert!" Bobby said as she went over to hug her brother, "Don't worry, it's ok… It was just a game, unfortunately…"
Bubba cleared his throat as he turned to Poe.
"Ok, so it looks like you got your duel against him." He said to them,
"Yeah, so ya better explain to us why ya here in the first place after ya duel my girl." PickyPiggy replied with her arms crossed,
"Hmph, I guess a promise is a promise." Poe said as they shrugged, "Alright, I was here because a friend of mine wanted me to have my eyes on you all."
"And who is that friend you're referring to?" Bubba wondered,
"Her name is Baba Chops."
Bobby, Bubba, PickyPiggy and CraftyCorn all got surprised looks on their faces. Robert was confused all of a sudden.
"Wait, that name is familiar…" CraftyCorn said, "I believe we might know her…"
"You four know Baba?" Poe wondered,
"Well, yeah, but…" Bubba said, "DogDay said some… bad things about her…"
"Well DogDay is lying."
"No way, really?" Bobby wondered,
"DogDay lied to us about Baba just to keep us away from anyone else?" PickyPiggy wondered,
"And this was happening before and after my sacrifice, yeah?" CraftyCorn wondered,
"Well, it was after, since it was worse…" Bubba replied, "But unfortunately, we all fell for DogDay's lie without realizing it…"
"And we never talked to Baba…" Bobby said,
"Thanks to your friend, Baba's life in high school was a living hell. Me and two other friends of mine had to protect her, but unfortunately that also made us the punching bags in our grade…"
"We're so sorry to hear…"
"No worries, it's over now… But the damage was already done. And I feel like we must find a way to fix it… But not now though. Something else is in the way."
Poe then looked up at Robert.
"I'm sorry if I was hard on your sister." They said,
"Uhhh, it's ok?" Robert wondered,
"I feel like you need to improve more on how you duel with the cards you have that are associated with Diabellstar. What are they?"
"They're Snake-Eyes."
"Snake-Eyes, huh? …Hmmm… Perhaps I'll give you some cards to help you out."
Poe then reaches for their little pile of cards they don't use and gives some of them to Robert.
"Here, from me." They said, "Make sure you read your cards carefully."
"Oh… Thank you." Robert said, "Thank you so much, Poe."
"You're welcome. See, I have a heart."
Poe then got up.
"Until fate brings us here again, but in a more positive approach." They said,
Poe then walks away. Bobby sighed in relief.
"That's a relief…" She said,
"Yeah, but is it me, or did they talk poetically?" Bubba wondered,
"Who knows, they're name is Poe." CraftyCorn said, "They could be named after a writer or a poet."
"Ain't Poe short for Poetry?" PickyPiggy wondered,
"Oh, you're right!" Bubba replied,
DogDay meanwhile was hearing his friends talking.
"Not you guys too…" He said, disgusted, "Just what the hell did she do to my critter crew?"
