The Tall Controller had exciting news. "A dinosaur skeleton has been discovered in Carlisle Quarry!" he announced.

"A what?" asked Kana.

"Dinosaurs were huge animals that lived a long, long time ago," said Tracy, "and only their bones are left. A set of bones for an animal is called a skeleton."

"What about fossils?" added Marcus. "They're when very old animals are saved in rocks for many years. Thomas and his friends found many of each at the Sodor Clay Pits."

"Quite right, Marcus," said the Tall Controller, "and this skeleton is going to the Kirkby Stephen History Museum for a new dinosaur exhibit."

"Please, Sir," cried Nathan, "may I take the dinosaur to Kirkby Stephen?! A big load needs a strong engine after all."

"Very well, Nathan-"

"YES!" Nathan tooted and raced away to the Quarry as fast as he could.

The Tall Controller was surprised. "Nathan!" he shouted, but Nathan was already out of sight.

"What is it, Sir," asked Marcus.

"I needed to tell Nathan that this dinosaur is very big and that he shouldn't take it alone."

"I can help him, Sir," said Kana. "With my speed, I can catch up to him easily."

"Thank you, Kana," smiled the Tall Controller and the high-speed engine raced after Nathan.

Nathan was going as fast as his wheels could carry him, but then, he saw a red signal. "Leaking oil," he groaned, "what are we waiting for anyway?"

"That would be me," replied Kana as she pulled up behind.

"What are you doing here, Kana?" asked Nathan.

"The Tall Controller tried to tell you that you'll need help with that dinosaur."

"Pah! you may be bigger than me, Kana, but I'm still stronger. I can pull that dinosaur on my own."

"But it's very big," Kana insisted. "Besides, I said I would help you."

Nathan groaned. "Fine." And when the signal turned green, they set off again.

When Nathan and Kana arrived at the Quarry, Slater, Sandy and Loni were waiting for them. "You got here fast," chuckled Slater. "They haven't even finished loading your trucks yet." The workmen had placed the dinosaur bones carefully inside large crates and Loni was helping to load them into the waiting trucks.

Nathan and Kana looked at the rockface where the bones had been dug up. "Wow!" exclaimed Kana, "that dinosaur was huge!"

"It was," said Sandy, "and it was amazing!"

"I wish we could've seen it too," sighed Nathan.

"At least we can still deliver it," said Kana.

"Not just yet, Kana," said her Driver. "You need to charge your battery first." Kana hurried to the shed as quickly as she could.

Then, Nathan had an idea. If I leave before Kana is ready, he thought, then I can still deliver the dinosaur myself. That will show everyone how strong I am.

"That's everything!" called Loni at last.

"Great," said Nathan and he quickly buffered up.

"Nathan, you must wait for Kana," said the Foreman.

"I know, but if I meet her at the shed, we'll save time." The workmen agreed and fastened the coupling.

Nathan smirked; his plan was working. He blasted his horn loudly and slowly rolled forward. The Tall Controller was right; the dinosaur bones were very heavy, but Nathan was determined and started to go faster.

"Steady, boy," urged his Driver, but Nathan didn't listen.

As they neared the shed, the Driver tried to apply the brakes…but Nathan suddenly surged forward. Kana's battery was still charging when she saw Nathan roll past. "Nathan! what are you doing?!" she called, but there was no reply.

Nathan went even faster as he roared out of the Quarry. "Haha!" he laughed, "now, we're away!"

But Nathan had forgotten that the line climbed up to the Quarry. Once he was back on the Main Line…the trucks suddenly surged against him.

"What's going on?" Nathan and the trucks gathered speed down the hill. The Driver turned his engine off and put on the brakes, but the train went faster and faster and Nathan's wheels started to slip. "WOOOOAAAAH!" he cried and tooted in alarm as his wheels screeched and the trucks rattled and roared behind him.

Meanwhile, Kana's battery was charged, and she raced after Nathan once more. "That silly engine can't escape the fastest one around here."

As Kana sped along, she suddenly heard Nathan's horn. "It sounds like Nathan's in trouble," said her Driver worriedly.

"Then we have no time to lose!" And Kana's wheels whirred like the wind.

Nathan was getting scared. "Someone, help!" he cried.

Suddenly, Nathan heard Kana's horn coming from behind him. "Hold on, Nathan," she called, "I'm coming!"

The Guard wasted no time. He grabbed his shunter's pole from inside the brake van and stood at the ready. Kana got closer…and closer…until she buffered up the van and the Guard quickly coupled her to the train.

"I've got you, Nathan!" Kana shouted. "Brakes; now!" The engine's brakes screeched, and sparks flew…and finally, they came to a stop.

Nathan was very relieved. "Oh Kana, thank you!" he panted. "I thought I was going to crash."

"Thank goodness I was here to help," smiled Kana.

Later, the Tall Controller spoke severely to Nathan. "What you did was very irresponsible, Nathan," he said. "You shouldn't have raced off before I finished speaking and you should not have taken that dinosaur alone after being told not to. You could've had a nasty accident."

"I'm sorry, Sir," replied Nathan sadly, "I was so excited about the dinosaur delivery that I didn't want to share it…but now, I know it was silly of me to not except Kana's help."

"Yes," said the Tall Controller, "you are a hero, Kana. Not only did you save Nathan, but the dinosaur as well. The people at the Muesum have told me that all the bones arrived safely and tomorrow, you are to have your photograph taken for the newspaper."

"What an honour, Kana," grinned Marcus. Kana's cheeks went red as she smiled at her friends and even Nathan was proud of her.
