"Which of you will oppose me first?" Mewtwo asked. A second later, he got his answer. "I underestimated you last time, but that won't happen again! Go Bruteroot!" The boy with the Pidgeot yelled out. His Venusaur, Bruteroot, bravely stepped forward and faced its opponent. "Razor Leaf!" He orders his Venusar. In a flash, it shot a storm of razor-sharp leaves in the clone Venusaurs direction. "Vinewhip," Mewtwo said softly. With seemingly no effort, the clone Venusaur extended its thick vines from the flowering bulb on its back and effortlessly swatted away each leaf like it was nothing. It then grabbed the Venusaur and threw it backward. Everyone watching winced in pain as its body crashed against the concrete wall. "Bruteroot!" The boy yelled as he ran to his injured Pokémon.
"Looks like I'm up! Go, Shellshocker!" Neesha said sternly. Her Blastoise approached its clone counterpart and waited for her command. "Shellshocker, Hydro Pump!" She called out. Her Blastoise, Shellshocker, shot two powerful blasts from its back shell cannons at the clone with tremendous might, but it was all for nothing. Without even being issued a command, the clone Blastoise withdrew into its fortress-like shell and began using Rapid Spin. It spun at an incredible speed and slammed into its opponent. Shellshocker tried to stand up to it, but it was flung backward, like Bruteroot. "Shellshocker!" Neesha yelled as she ran to comfort her Pokémon.
I looked back at Bruteroot and Shellshocker. I knew my Charizard could have readily taken either one of them, but as I looked back at Mewtwos Charizard, I felt a quiver go down my spine. His Charizard looked absolutely perfect in every sense of the word. I looked back at my Charizard again. As our eyes met, I could read what he was saying, and I nodded.
"Charizard... Do it," I said calmly. My Charizard slowly stepped forward. I could see he was assessing the situation. He was studying his opponent, and though I could tell he didn't like what he saw, I could also tell he was willing to try nevertheless. "No silly nickname for your Charizard, Champion?" Mewtwo asked smugly. "So, you do know who I am," I said sharply. "Oh, I am well aware of the Pokémon League. I am eager to test the true power of my clones against a Champion," He replied. "Don't think this is gonna be easy, Mewtwo! Your clones may be powerful, but my Charizard has fought the strongest trainers in the world," I said confidently. "Then let's see if experience is better than superior genetics," Mewtwo retorted.
I pushed my tongue to the bottom of my mouth, curled it, and let out a loud whistle. The second I did, Charizard shot into the sky like a jet and was 100 feet in the air within 3 seconds. Mewtwo's clone Charizard accepted the challenge and matched my Charizards speed inch for inch. My Charizard seemed to understand that he was standing on equal footing with this opponent and decided to test what the clone was made of. He shot around the stadium at top speed, circling it twice before any of us could see. The clone Charizard didn't miss a step. He matched my Charizards speed and once it saw an opening, shot a mighty flamethrower at mine. Charizard ducked out of the way as he cut directly up, pivoted, and shot his own flamethrower at the clone. The clone retaliated and the two flame blasts met midair. Each Charizard pushed with all its firey might but neither one gave an inch.
Finally, unable to overwhelm his opponent, my Charizard dove under the clone, speared it midair and began rapidly flipping it. Charizard was going for a Seismic Toss. The clone figured this out just in time and spun out of the hold, returning to the air and readying itself for another attack. I could see Charizard was getting frustrated. It looked back at me for just a second and I nodded again. Now it was time to go all out.
Charizard shot towards the clone but didn't hit it. Instead, he shot past it, banked right, and let out a powerful Wing Attack. 2 rapid tornados raced toward the clone, but it was ready. It shot its own Wing Attack right back and tried to use the resulting calamity to its advantage, but there was something it hadn't counted on. Charizard was waiting at the other end of the wind tunnel. He reared back and shot not 1, not 2, but 3 consecutive Fire Blasts at the clone. It dodged the first and second, but the third caught it square in the chest. Charizard seemed proud for a moment but its face returned to seriousness when it saw the clone shrugging off the blast. Charizard gritted his teeth and roared angrily at the cone. The clone simply beckoned Chariard with its head, as if to dare him to try again.
At this, Charizard finally lost his cool. He shot toward the clone with reckless regard and before he knew it, the clone was using Charizards own trick against him. As Charizard passed, the clone got under it and initiated its own Seismic Toss. Charizard tried to fight, but the clone was simply too strong. With a loud and thunderous smash, Charizard lay unconscious in a crater, and the clone stood triumphant above him.
"No..." I whispered. I was absolutely stunned. These clones weren't just superior, they were unbeatable. I looked at Mewtwo and lowered my head slightly. "You lose," He said with an air of satisfaction in his voice.
"As the victor, I claim my prize," Mewtwo said as its eye began glowing. It raised its hand and materialized what looked like dozens of blacked-out Pokéballs all around. "Your Pokémon".
