Barbarian Archipelago...
It had been a long time since Lys thought about her home.
She rarely thought about what she would do once she returned.
And she never thought about how her life would change by accepting this mission.
After all, a mission like this happens once in a lifetime... and she knew that if there was something worth risking everything on, she decided to allow her to participate in it by any means.
Luckily, there was not much denial.
Even so, for her, this was her great opportunity, to start making a name for herself among her race, to start her path as one of her people, and to become like one of the greats she had heard about since she was very young.
But now...
She feels that something has changed.
Of course, the mission had been a success, she had proven herself in battle and when she returned home she was sure that this would make her become another warrior of her people.
Only for her to now feel a deep helplessness.
And it all started yesterday when Mr. Belios gave them that news
And now Lys is right now.
Flying over the seas of the Barbarian Archipelago were two dragons, one black and one white, flying at high speed. On the black dragon was a young human who was riding on top of the dragon.
Hiccup: We're doing very well, guys, keep it up!
Hiccup said to his companions, in this case, the two dragons that were Toothless and Lys.
Meanwhile, Lys, seeing Toothless's seemingly childish behavior, just rolled her eyes in annoyance.
While she doesn't know how she got into that situation, or maybe she does know how she got into it, she doesn't know very well how she ended up with this couple to do this.
It all started just after Mr. Belios announced to Hiccup that his master told him that it was time to retire from the mission and return to his home world in the hidden world. Hiccup did not take it very well at first, not to say that he was quite depressed because he did not know what he was going to do after they left.
Then the announcement came to the rest of the group.
It must be said that on the part of the Draconians, there was some encouragement to know this news because it meant their return home.
Others, like Lys, were a little different because apparently, a great surprise arose from knowing about it.
But there was no joy on her face.
Heather, for her part, understood, that although it was not difficult to see the situation with the Draconians, she could not say that she was for or against their departure since they did not talk or interact much with them. Their closest relationship was with Mr. Belios and Lys.
However, there was not much time to analyze the situation, as Hiccup soon began with a series of plans he had in mind to begin the mission that the great Lendys requested.
To say that his idea sounded unconventional.
Hiccup: I want to return to the Barbarian Archipelago to look for allies to help me.
His idea was crazy, after what happened and what had to be endured to get him and Toothless out?
Needless to say, some were opposed to that for more than one reason.
But they soon understood that if there was one thing Hiccup Haddock was, it was that he could be too stubborn with an idea in his head.
That was why Mr. Belios allowed him to return to the Barbarian Archipelago, with the condition that he return before the third day of departure, otherwise, they would go looking for him.
Some did not like what he said very much, but they ended up accepting it anyway, after all, despite everything, the one in charge was Mr. Belios.
This would certainly delay the plans for the return of the Draconians to their home a bit and that was not a factor for Lys to request to accompany Hiccup on this mission.
Never!
Even if someone tries to say otherwise, Lys will deny it.
And that is why she is here now.
Lys: Anyway... where are we going Hiccup?
Hiccup took out his map of the Archipelago which showed a series of islands besides Berk.
Hiccup: Here... -when he found the island he was looking for he smiled and pointed at it- the island of the BogBurglars, there lives a friend who could come to help with the mission I have to carry out.
Toothless approached them fixed his gaze on Hiccup and began to speak.
Toothless: You trust too much that he will help you, how do you know that he will not betray you?
Hiccup turned to look at Toothless and seeing his expression he had an idea of what he said.
Hiccup: I trust her a lot, Camicazi was my friend when we were kids and I know she will listen to me.
Lys nodded- Anyway, I don't think having a backup plan in case it happens is bad... Hiccup remembers that maybe the conflict with the dragons is still very present in this Archipelago, even without the Red Death, three hundred years of fighting are not easily forgotten.
Hiccup sighed agreeing with what he says- Okay, I understand, we have to see that but I still prefer to have faith that it won't be necessary... I know that Camicazi can be stubborn sometimes but I trust that our friendship will be stronger.
Lys: Okay, - she answered not entirely convinced- if you think she can be an ally there will be nothing left to see.
Toothless: We will need all the allies possible if you are going to leave soon... I hope you are right Hiccup
Hiccup moved to see him and upon seeing his expression he was ready to answer when someone else did.
Lys: Yes... we will leave soon... - she said with a demotivated voice, something that did not go unnoticed by Hiccup and especially Toothless who was taken aback by her response, in all the time they had known her they never saw her like that- let's continue with the mission, the faster we get there the better and luckily we won't draw attention.
Without further ado, he transformed into his draconic form and prepared to continue the journey.
While Hiccup and Toothless looked at each other for a moment to try to understand what was happening to Lys, but quickly decided that it would be best to wait for that and for things to calm down a bit.
That was how Hiccup got on Toothless's mount to continue the journey, but Toothless still had Lys' expression on his mind, whatever it was he would find out.
...
Dragon Edge...
Heather was in the stables feeding the dragons that were there, hopefully, this is her last activity of the day, at least for the moment.
She still had to start adjusting to all the other changes that would happen around here in the following days after the conversation she had with Hiccup...
Flashback...
Hiccup- Wait are you serious?!- he said surprised after hearing what Heather said.
Heather nodded in confirmation- It's for the best for now, someone has to stay and look after some things, don't get me wrong, I want to help you honestly, but I want to see what condition Dragon Edge will be in by the time Mr. Belios and the others leave... although they helped you a lot I have to see how else I can contribute to help once they're gone...
Hiccup thought about it for a moment and then nodded with understanding- Okay, but I still would have liked you to accompany us tomorrow.
Heather smiled- While it sounds great to ride a dragon I don't think it would be of much help, I don't know anyone you're going to see Hiccup... plus I think I'd like to find my dragon to train.
Heather knew that some of that raised Hiccup's mood.
-Oh!... well, if you want, I can help you with that, it also depends on which dragon you want to choose, the boys would like it if you wanted to fly with one of them...
Heather smiled as she remembered the dragons that were in the stables... although she loved each one, she felt that something was missing that she hadn't found yet when choosing a dragon.
Heather: I still don't know Hiccup, that's something I still haven't figured out, maybe these days will help me decide that...
Hiccup nodded- Of course, I understand that... The bond with a dragon is something very special...
End Flashback...
Heather: A bond with a dragon... I guess that's what I'm looking for he said caressing the scales of the Monstrous Nightmare who gave a growl that Heather caught as a sound of discontent- Don't get me wrong, I would feel very honored to fly with any of you, that's true... but even so I can't deny that there's something that I still feel is missing... maybe that is something like what Hiccup and Toothless have, you can't deny that because of that bond they are both incredible...
The Monstrous Nightmare growled as if to agree because he remembered how that human and the Night Fury alone with nothing more than their trust in each other fought together to free the entire nest of the Red Death.
Heather: It's good to see that you're not angry... now- she walked away to get some fish and the moment the dragon saw it he quickly went to eat it- well with that I think that would be all for today.
Without further ado, she went to the door of the stables to be able to go out to rest.
However, she soon began to hear a couple of voices that were passing by.
- It was about time we were allowed to return...
- I agree, this has certainly taken longer than I expected, how did the great Lendys think of leaving us here for a year?
- You know how he is, he is very benevolent with the Night Fury species, if not look at how he holds Mr. Belios in that esteem...
- Really? And why didn't he ask to bring the Night Fury back with us then?
Almost unconsciously it ended where he was now because he was with his thoughts. After all, he was where Mr. Belios normally rested and was right there looking at a couple of objects.
Heather: Mr. Belios?
The aforementioned turned around to meet Heather who looked curious to see him there.
Belios: Ah Miss Heather... I didn't expect you to be here, in fact, I thought you would be with the boys.
Heather nodded- That's what I thought of doing but I decided to stay and prepare everything, after all, you will all leave soon.
Belios nodded and gave her a slight smile- It's not necessary to rush into it yet Miss Heather, I just communicated the message yesterday, it will take some time until we have everything ready with you two to leave you alone.
Heather: Yes but I think we have to start planning better what to do in these cases, after all, Hiccup told me about the mission he will carry out without your help, I want to help him, and in the meantime, I can be of greater use here.
Belios was surprised by the seriousness of her words and then laughed lightly. "You know, you remind me a little of someone..." he said in a nostalgic tone.
Heather heard him in that tone and then noticed the crystals he had with him where she could identify several figures, some of Dragons, others of humans, or even come together.
She had to assume that they were Draconians because she had never met any human except for Hiccup and the Defenders of the Wing who sympathized with dragons and those images looked very old.
Then she noticed a peculiar one that showed a younger Human Belios with a young woman who looked beautiful.
In another one, she was seen with a guy with strange clothes, a little shorter than him but Belios looked like he had great respect for him and had a calm but tired look.
And there was one more that showed Belios with a young Night Fury, he looked very happy, and he treated him with affection.
Belios noticed that his gaze was directed at his crystals and he hurried to pick them up.
Belios: Sorry for the mess - he said approaching to pick up all the crystals - I have been collecting several belongings that I had that I left there by accident.
Heather nodded slowly, she knew she was lying because Mr. Belios was not messy and everyone knew that, those crystals must have been something very personal to him so it would be better not to try to inquire about that subject.
Heather: Don't worry I think we are all like this because of your early departure... but Mr. Belios, I have to present... isn't there some way for them to stay?
Belios was relieved that she didn't ask about the crystals, but her question left him with uncertainty- I'm sorry to say no... Miss Heather, this is not something that depends on us, our lord sent us in the first place to answer Toothless' call to save Hiccup and ask him about the mission we would like him to do, once done, it would only be a matter of time before we returned home, but the fights with the hunters delayed our departure.
Heather looked at him worried- And why is there such a rush to return? With your help, we could have a better chance...
Belios nodded- I think so too, however, the urgency to return is very necessary, not only for the mission accomplished but for our safety.
Heather looked at him without understanding and Belios sighed.
Belios: Let me ask you... have you seen how the Draconians are very distrustful?
Heather nodded.
Belios: This is not the first time that we Draconians have appeared in this world. Centuries ago, many of us were sent with the task of ending the war against the dragons.
Heather was surprised by what he said.- So, have you tried to solve all that before?
Belios nodded.- Yes... in fact, I was present when those events happened.
Heather looked at him skeptically.- Wait... but were you there when that happened? No, that couldn't be the war against the dragons. It's been 300 years, and you look like a man of... how old are you?
Mr. Belios laughed for a moment.- I'm older than I look, right?
Although his tone was joking, that didn't stop Heather from looking at him in dismay. It seems that the Draconians were not only a unique species of Dragons, but they could also live for a long time.
Mr. Belios, seeing that he was getting off-topic, continued: But yes... as I told you, many of my people went out with that mission, to act as emissaries to try to stop the conflict.
Heather, hearing him speak, saw that there was a tone of regret in the last part.
Heather: But something happened, right? Well, if the war continued, it means that something happened.
Mr. Belios nodded and looked at where the crystals were for a brief moment to become very serious: Let's say... that our help was not well received and rather than seeing us as allies, they saw us as the most coveted trophies they could find. Heather, hearing this, could get an idea of what happened.
They began to hunt them like dragons.
Belios: Now Miss Heather, you understand why the others are too distrustful... there is too much past from those times that I do not doubt much that it can be forgotten.
Heather: But that was centuries ago, I doubt very much that it can influence them too much.
Belios: In fact, yes it can... the truth is that even when this mission was going to be undertaken, no one wanted to come exactly for that reason... in fact, the only one who volunteered for this was the Cadet.
Heather was intrigued by the last thing- Lys?
Mr. Belios nodded smiling slightly- She is very young, only 15 human years old, and the new generations are not very aware of what that conflict was, I am convinced that she thinks the same as you.
Heather smiled upon hearing that on Lys' part, there was no resentment on her part and that the friendship she had with her and Hiccup was genuine.
English:Belios: But it is something that unfortunately can happen... my species was hunted and killed centuries ago, today maybe there may not be many who remember it but if we were to be discovered we would be a very coveted target for hunters.
Heather lowered her head thinking about everything Mr. Belios said, she could not believe that all that could even have happened.
Heather: I'm sorry- she said with a touch of sadness after having heard what happened.
Mr. Belios however shook his head- You do not have to apologize, after all, you had nothing to do with it, greed and selfishness have always existed in this world, and that will never be denied, but maybe things will be different this time... I have faith in it.
Heather: Are you referring to Hiccup?- she asked curiously.
Mr. Belios nodded with a smile- And not only him but also Toothless, the Cadet and also you Miss Heather, you may be young but I have seen how the four of you interact and I think that if the change starts with the right generation this time everything may be better.
...
Barbarian Archipelago...
During the following hours, the trio of Dragons and riders continued to advance to their destination, although things seemed to be going well at the beginning of the trip, now they had adopted a tense atmosphere.
The three were silent, only saying what was necessary regarding where they had to go and the one who spoke most was Hiccup.
Lys was flying alongside but quiet and very serious, only nodding her head when necessary.
While Toothless was thoughtful and confused by the attitude that the Draconian had adopted. The only thing he knew was that seeing her like that upset him in some way, she no longer argued with him, she no longer said a word and that disconcerted him a lot, whatever it was he had to do something if he wanted everything to go back to normal.
Toothless: It's getting late... we should stop...
Lys for her part was somewhat relieved because with so much to think about and with all the distance they traveled, she was tired, she just wanted to eat something and go to sleep for a while.
But in the meantime, a moment of peace wouldn't hurt her.
But unfortunately, you can't get everything in this life.
Once she sat down to rest, Toothless began to try to provoke her, either with comments or gestures.
In the mood she was in today, she was more inclined to get everything out of her system.
But she remembered the first thing that every Draconian had to learn, never let out all your emotions, they should only be released in moderation.
She decided to try to ignore him, hopefully, he'll eventually get tired and leave.
Toothless however wasn't making any progress, that should have given him the clue to stop, but that only had the opposite effect.
Somehow her indifference seemed to encourage him even more in his attempts.
Lys, upon reaching her limit, stood up and faced Toothless furiously- You don't know anything about me!... You don't know what I've been through or what I had to do to get to where I am!, maybe you think that the life of someone like me is easy but it's not!, but what are you going to know, the only bad thing that's happened to you is that you lost half of your stupid tail...
A momentary silence took over the place as Toothless looked at Lys from his place processing what she said, only to frown and start growling, ready for one of his usual fights.
Only this time Lys wasn't in the mood for this.
So he decided to do one of the most complicated but effective draconic fighting techniques known.
With a special hand movement, he momentarily distracted Toothless to jump on top of him and hit him in the head, stunning him, and with his Dragon strength he sent him to the ground.
When he finished he just went back to his place- Stop acting like a child, if you act like that again you'll end up worse than how I left you.
Toothless recovered from Lys' attack, although still stunned by her blow, while the incredulous look at that movement, made him look ridiculous.
That only increased the anger in which he was about to explode that the only thing he did was just turn around and head to the forest.
...
Once he got enough distance between Hiccup, Lys, and him, he let out a roar of Fury.
Who did she think she was?!
By believing that he had an easy life, that is the last thing he had.
He had to live believing that he was the last of his kind he could not even remember his family!
Although he grew up in the company of other dragons in the nest, he knew that he still felt alone, he was the only one of his kind and therefore he had to do everything possible to survive.
So she can't come and want to tell him that it's a hard life when he can say that he had a harder one than her.
But her expression and how she responded still had him engraved in his mind and had him furious, so he decided to launch plasmas, in any direction, he just wanted to stop thinking about that.
After a while, when his limit of shots arrived and he could no longer shoot more plasmas, he panted tiredly hoping that would be enough.
Then he immediately began to feel a pain in his head, which only became stronger as he continued to contain his emotions then let out a very loud roar that ended after he collapsed to the ground...
...
Back at camp Hiccup was preparing the firewood to light the fire, before doing so he fixed his gaze on Lys once again, worried about the fight she and Toothless had again, only this one felt different.
Hiccup: Lys... I know you have your problems... and I'm sorry I didn't realize it before, if you want to talk to someone I'm here to listen, you know I won't judge you...
Lys looked at him for a moment and her face softened a little to grunt an affirmative answer.
Hiccup smiled and continued- And I know that despite all the problems you have, Toothless only wanted to help, in his way and he didn't know how to do it but I think that in some way you worried him too.
Lys just turned her head aside not knowing what to say or how to react to what Hiccup said.
Hiccup sighed and was about to speak when suddenly he heard the roar of a dragon in the distance, but it was one that he could distinguish very well the roar of a Night Fury.
-I think he's not feeling well...
Lys just listened to him but didn't do anything that said he was going to do something. She only looked in the direction where the scream originated, it was too big to be noticed by anyone who was nearby and that would attract more attention than necessary.
Lys tired by everything just sighed- Don't worry I'll go get him...
Without further resignation, she stood up to go in the direction where Toothless had gone...
...
-My head... hurts a lot- she said to put a hand on her head.
While doing so she tried to stand up. Without a doubt that had been strange but she didn't understand what happened.
When she opened her eyes she saw blurry but at least she could make out her hands.
Wait...
Hands?!
She opened her eyes completely not believing what she thought she saw.
Then she looked at what was in her head and indeed it was a hand, only it was her hand.
She had hands, and not only that but she only had two feet, her body was thinner, she was smaller, she had... hair, her teeth were picked out.
Was he human?
He tried to stand up so he could see himself better (with difficulty... how do people go on two legs? He wondered) and when he did he saw that everything about him had indeed changed, he was now a human. That alone left him in shock.
...
As he approached where the fool who did something stupid in Lys' opinion was, she was looking for him.
The forest was big, he could be anywhere, so she decided to use her sense of smell to find him faster.
That was how she was able to capture his scent and continue her search, that's how she came to a small open space, where the smell grew stronger, he must be there.
She was angry with him and thought about how she was going to reprimand him that she didn't notice something in particular.
Only when she arrived did she find a boy her age, with somewhat long black hair, and light skin, wearing a simple black tunic and brown pants, who was on the ground and in apparent shock.
Lys: Who are you?- she looked at the boy suspiciously who ignored her as he continued to look completely shocked.
- I... I don't understand how this is even possible.
The voice.
It seemed familiar to Lys, as she had heard it before, many times before.
Lys: Wait...- she said to see the boy again analyzing everything and already having an idea of who he was, her expression was of total shock and she asked doubtfully wanting to know the answer- Toothless?
The boy upon hearing that name turned to look at Lys who still stunned by his new physique only nodded slowly.
Lys came out of her shock to say in total shock- But what the hell happened to you?!
To be continued...
Hello to all the readers, how are you?
I hope you are well, well, just a few clarifications before everything, the two chapters will be about Toothless, Lys, and Belios.
The select theme of this is that it is related to events before the beginning of this story and that has a lot of impact on two of these characters, the third will have an important role not only because of who he is but because of something that will be seen in the next chapter, anyway, I would also like to thank everyone who has taken the time to read this story, it is exactly more than a year since the first chapter was published, I am pleased about that.
Well, in this part, a new character will make an appearance, one that is very well known.
Well, that's all, I hope you liked the chapter and without further ado, I'll say goodbye for now.
See you in the next chapter.
Thanks.
