"So does bowling really count as a date?" Puck asked.
"Anything can count as a date," Quinn assured him "San and Brittany are having a movie date at home."
"So as long as T...the girl agrees it's a date?" it wasn't that he didn't believe Quinn, he just wanted to double check.
"Yes, even if it's a party, if you and 'the girl' agree to go together it's a date." Quinn promised trying not to smirk.
"Just make sure to say date when you ask." Mike reminded.
"So, 'hey wanna go running with me? We can make it a date?', that works?"
"If she's into it." Quinn nodded.
"Dinner was really nice." Rachel beamed up at Finn as they walked into the theater, he'd bought tickets to the movie she'd been talking about.
"I'm glad you liked it." he smiled walking her to the concession stand "Hi," he smiled at the teen behind the counter before pulling a piece of paper from his pocket, clearing his throat he read "can we have a small popcorn, no butter," he shook his head "original sour patch kids, twizzlers and medium diet coke." he didn't understand why Rachel drank diet but she did, shoving the paper in his pocket he added "And a large coke and large popcorn with butter." Rachel knew he could eat the entire bucket, she'd seen him refill it and take it home but she was proud he bought her the vegan snacks.
Paying and collecting their drinks and snacks they headed to usher at the podium, "Hello, you're in theater 1, up the hall on your left."
He didn't need to open the door because it was already open, that meant they were early enough to see the trivia slides and have their choice of seats. "Halfway up, middle?" he asked.
"Okay."
Maribel couldn't help but chuckle, the babies were sleeping cuddled together in the playpen and Santana and Brittany were sleeping cuddled on the couch, she wasn't going to pass it up and took a picture with her phone. The take out bag sat on the table with all their trash in it, she could see they were only two movies into their marathon and only part way through their second of eight movies. Grabbing the bag she took it with her into the kitchen to throw it away and make herself dinner. Opening the fridge to look for something she smiled grabbing out an identical take out bag with 'Mami' in pink marker, the bag behind it had 'Papi' in blue marker, she knew the uneven scrawl was Brittany, Santana's handwriting was near perfect because Alma would settle for no less than perfect.
Puck was saying good bye to his daughter as he put her in Mike's car "Daddy has you this coming weekend, we'll go see the ducks and fishes," he paused questioning himself "fish?" he glanced down at Beth who was smiling happily "Whatever they're called we'll go see them." he promised. Straightening up Puck admitted "I feel like it's cheating, dropping her off with you while I'm working."
"You can always call Santi." Quinn offered.
"Still weird that he's a manny." Puck chuckled.
"But he's good at his job and Beth will be bilingual before pre K." Quinn laughed.
"Between our group of friends and family these girls will be well versed in multiple languages." Matt laughed.
"They'll be able to plot shit and their teachers won't know it." Puck shook his head. "I worry I'm going to screw up my part of this."
"You're doing great." Quinn promised. "You're here, you're in her life and not running away."
"Promise me if I start slipping you'll tell me."
"Promise, but I don't see it happening." giving his cheek a quick kiss Quinn gave Matt a hug before ducking into the passenger door that was being held open for her by Mike.
"A...are you okay?" Finn whispered suddenly regretting his choice of movie as Rachel had already cried twice and he had no idea what to do.
Wiping her eyes Rachel nodded whispering back "Yes, it's just so moving."
Finn shifted looking around, the other guys they all seemed to be doing the same thing he was, looking at the other girls to see if they were crying, he was relieved to see that they were. Pushing the arm up that was between them Finn lifted his arm hoping that Rachel would understand, relaxing when she cuddled to his side he rested his across her shoulders, she took care of keeping her hair out of the way.
Yawning Santana stretched as she slowly moved away from Brittany, the C-section incision was healing nicely but she still wasn't healed enough for the rigors of cheerleading. Her muscles were still sore and she knew the nerves weren't all the way healed either, kissing Brittany's forehead as she adjusted the covers Santana peaked at the babies before heading to the bathroom. They were quietly sleeping.
Santana thought date night was a success, she hoped Brittany did too, it didn't matter that it was an early night, Santana chuckled they fallen asleep not long after she'd put the second movie in around 8, it was now 10. She would move the babies and Brittany to the room when she returned from the bathroom, no rush. Santana groaned seeing her reflection in the mirror, dark puffy circles under her eyes had become the norm, concealer had become her best weapon for school, cold compresses at home.
When she left the bathroom Santana heard someone in the kitchen, she was sure it was one or both of her parents since she could see Brittany still sleeping on the couch. Walking to the archway she peeked in, it was both, Maribel was heating up something in the microwave while Luis was getting them drinks. "Nice date?" he asked offering her a bottled water.
"I liked it, I hope she did too." Santana said looking back over her shoulder at Brittany accepting the water from her dad.
"Tell Brittany thank you for thinking of us." Maribel said placing the plate on the table, she'd eaten hers when she'd gotten home, but she was still going to sit with her husband while he had his.
"I will I'm going to get the babies up to the room and then get Britt." Santana said giving her parents a little wave.
"Let me help, one less trip." Maribel offered, Santana nodded.
"I had fun." Rachel promised. Finn bounced heel to toe, he was getting better at accepting when someone told him something and not doubting it, he was sure if he had his dad in his life he wouldn't be as awkward with girls as he was.
Handing her the remainder of her candy he leaned down and kissed her cheek "Me too." he promised straightening back up "I'll call you tomorrow and send pictures of the room."
"Okay." Rachel promised unlocking her front door "Good night."
"Good night." he waited until she was inside before heading back to his truck, his mom had text him that she was home and was helping Burt with the lightweight stuff.
When he arrived home Burt and his mom were waiting in the living room for him, "Hi honey." Carole smiled.
"Hi." sitting in the recliner he asked "How'd you like the movie?"
"I loved it, how was yours?"
"There was a lot of crying." Finn said slightly confused getting a chuckle from Burt.
"Sometimes that happens with those movies."
"Women are emotional." Carole agreed before telling Finn "We put the everything in my room while we were waiting for you, I didn't want to do your room without you."
"Thanks." Finn nodded.
His room was actually simple, Carole helped Burt put the queen bed together while Finn put the crib together, it took Finn a minute to realize it was his mom's bed. "It won't fit in the other room." she said when noticed him watching them. "I picked you out a new bed set when I got my own."
"But..."
"It'll just go to waste if you're not using it." Carole interrupted.
"Okay." Finn agreed returning to the crib.
