Hey everyone nice to be back with a new chapter I hope my previous chapters were a good read I have a announcement to make with the end of this chapter if you will humor me but without anymore interruptions please enjoy this chapter.
Astrid was startled at the giant dragon but was more curious what hiccup knew about this woman so she put her axe away seeing that hiccup isn't in any danger but slugged him in the arm lightly but still hard enough for him to feel it which he responded with "OW! Why this time" dagur did a small chuckle at the interaction while he was being held by shattermaster, astrid soon responded "that's for disappearing on us we were worried sick" hiccup retorted " I mean I couldn't help that a vigilante dragon lady kidnapped me in the middle of the night" snotlout soon started to chuckle at this now, even though he was dangling out of hookfangs mouth. Valka saw the interaction and immediately thought 'oh if they aren't a couple yet they are going to be soon enough' as a small smile came on her face but soon remembered the other riders were still being held by their dragons so she motioned the bewilderbeast to let the other dragons go once they did the dragons all let their riders down. Valka saw how the dragons and their riders interacted, and it warmed her heart seeing how they saw what she saw but she was a little confused about one thing if the others had dragons how come hiccup didn't have one. She asked hiccup about this and before he responded Astrid beat him to it with a look of concern "shit I had to ride toothless here but after our dragons took us I lost track of him" hiccup was about to panic too until they heard a familiar night fury roar Valka listened with shock seeing as she hasn't heard this roar only for her to see hiccup tackled to the ground by a giant black mass and said black mass started to lick him intensely. She started to hear hiccup saying " ah toothless yeah im glad to see you too bud, ok ok I'm ok" when the mass they called toothless got up hiccup wiped himself off of what she assumed was dragon spit only to hear her son say " you know this doesn't wash out" she then chuckled when she heard a deep growl that sounded like laughter from the dragon in question. She moved closer out of curiosity seeing this dragon she recognized as a night fury the dragon looked absolutely friendly almost as if the dragon was an overgrown cat which she now had a question in her head how the night fury was not effected by the alphas call she doubts hiccup will know since they have only known each other for two years. She soon snapped herself out of her thoughts as toothless tackles him again but this time he's nuzzling him. She finally notices dagur and got curious." Uh hiccup if you don't mind me asking what are you doing with the berserker heir last I herd berk and berserk were on a shaky treaty" she questioned and dagur and hiccup smirked towards each other as dagur ruffled hiccups hair they soon explained what was going on with the pact of the heirs she then chuckled at the idea of all the parents just either horrified or proud that all the tribes would be at peace when they all step down as leaders but sad as well seeing at how much she has missed while she was gone." well allow me to make up for some lost time if you would like its almost feeding time the alpha will be leaving soon if you would like to accompany me and cloudjumper" she said this with hope hiccup and his friends would come she wants to take the steps to make up for her absence the riders looked to each other and all nodded and valka felt a huge happiness form as they all mounted their dragons
The riders and valka were flying right behind the bewilderbeast as it was swimming with a flock of dragons were behind them in this time valka had started asking questions to get to know hiccup and his friends " so tell me how long have you been traveling so far all of you" hiccup answered" just a couple months so far we got a whole route we want to go on" he and the other riders were getting excited just thinking about the locations they will be visiting valka could tell from what hiccup told her about going to rome before the alpha brought the others to them. She soon asked questions like what all the riders is interested in and how long they have been riding for many other questions were brought up she wanted to find out as much as possible in the little time she was going to have with her son since she knew he was going to leave to go back out to travel. She soon noticed the twins and snotlout were a bit more nervous than the others, she will have to find out about why later on. Soon they stopped and everyone looked to valka and astrid asked "so why did we stop" valka turned to look at them all "look down and you'll see" they did so and they saw the alpha coming to the surface launching thousands of fish into the air soon the dragons were in the flock behind them started diving and grabbing fish whenever they could soon all the riders dragons started diving for the falling fish hiccup laughed seeing toothless carrying over two dozens of fish in his mouth trying to swallow it all at once stormfly and hookfang wasn't far behind with half as many while shattermaster barf and belch and meatlug were having trouble trying to catch any shatter master was primarily letting fish hit dagur as he chuckled and grabbed some earning a playful glare from dagur.
When the dragons were all fed the alpha led the flock back to the nest and valka took the riders to a island to relax. After all that had happened, they set up a fire and sat down. She noticed even more that the twins and snotlout were really nervous about something, so she thought it be best to try and ask what is getting them all nervous so as they were around the fire she asked." So snotlout ruffnut and tuffnut I did notice you were really nervous about something for a while mind if I ask you what could be getting you three like that" the three in question froze everyone had a good idea what was on their minds but didn't speak to see what they would say." Well miss haddock" before snotlout could continue valka spoke up." And for future interactions call me valka I'd prefer it that way" snotlout nodded as he continued even more nervous seeing how valka is being so kind to him and the twins" you see valka when we were on berk hiccup wasn't always the most liked person in the tribe" she went from a genuine smile to a look that seemed something shattered in her but she motioned he continue." He was a target of ridicule in the village and me and the twins were the main culprits of his ridicule I cant go more into it that it still bugs me that I of all people was that terrible to him" valka begged the question" so what changed for all of you" she asked the group besides hiccup and dagur and soon tuff picked up" well toothless happened well kinda" he said as toothless perked up hearing his name" well that's one reason you see we know we were assholes to him but he still felt we were worth helping even if the village didn't want his help he still thought we were worth helping" ruff continued from where her brother left off " after we saw him fall off toothless when we fought the red death the three of us made a promise if he survived we were gonna do our damnest to make sure he had people he could go to for help all of us made that promise to an extent" the three hoped valka wasn't gonna skewer them but they soon heard her sigh of relief and they soon relaxed" well I at least know hiccup will have you all when he leaves on his adventures" the riders all nod in agreement fishlegs soon asked the question" so valka what is the bewilderbeast I never seen a dragon that breathes ice before and the size of it is interesting as well" valka soon smiled at the over sized viking " ah yes that's the big question if my memory is correct you always had a fascination to dragons" fishlegs started to blush from embarrassment" well the bewilderbeast is an alpha dragon there are different species of dragons some are naturally made into alphas and the bewilderbeast is one of those species it is even known as the king of dragons" the riders look interested astrid asked" so he could over power a queens control" valka shook her head" no now while they are the king the dragons are controlled by the leader of the nest they are a part of but they can leave and form a new nest if they would like" the riders were interested learning about the bewilderbeast but it was getting late and valka insisted they all got some rest which they all did immediately.
Well all except hiccup he couldn't sleep and noticed valka was staring out into the sea so he went over to her, she noticed him pretty fast hearing his metal foot crunching the sand. She asked him" Couldn't sleep now" he nodded they both were staring out to the ocean until hiccup begged the question" so mom what does this lead to next" she looked at him confused for a moment " I mean what does this mean for you and me I mean we just found each other after almost 16 years and you know I am going to leave to explore the world so what does that leave this whole mother son relationship we started" she saw his point but just gave him a tight hug before saying" no matter where you are son I will always be there for you no matter how far from the archipelago you are you will always have a home with me at the sanctuary" she said a genuine as possible she was going to get this right no matter what. Hiccup soon hugged her back and they both went to back to their dragons and went off to sleep.
The next day everyone was up and, on their dragons, soon they made their way back to the sanctuary knowing it was time to say goodbye to valka. They soon landed and were greeted by little baby dragons who were soon warded off by valkas dragon who they now know as cloudjumper. They made their way to valkas cave and everyone took a seat in a circle valka began to speak " well I must say I wasn't expecting this what so ever but I will say, this is a welcome surprise but as all good things come to an end I know you all have a journey you want to continue I will not stop you but I will say this no matter where you all are or how far away you are the sanctuary is always open to you if you ever need a home or a break from your adventures me and the alpha will be happy to help you" some nodded in gratitude while others verbally thanked her hiccup gave valka a hug before the group got up and got on their dragons they all took off with valka waving goodbye with cloudjumper watching behind her. Once she saw they were gone valka soon looked to cloudjumper with a look that could kill anyone if given the chance." I think it's about time we visit berk old friend see what my people have been up to since I've left" cloudjumper nodded not wanting to be near that island again but understood why she would want to go to berk. She soon walked inside to get herself ready for the trip to berk.
Dun dun duuuuuuuu well valka is planning on going to berk huh what do you think she'll do that will be explained soon but on to the announcement I said in the beginning of the chapter. I am planning to split my story into different entries what I mean is this will be the final chapter in 'the trek to the great beyond' but the story isn't finished I want to make different entries talking about the adventures of the dragon riders one will be about rome, one on Constantinople and so on I'll just need to come up with story titles for each but until I do make them thank you for reading so far and I hope you will be tuning in to read my next entry.
