( Code Total Drama Reality Introduction Song Starts )
( No Pain No Game (From Btoom!) )
(The ending of this story)
The song starts, showing the end of Code Lyoko where the Supercomputer is shut down and the former Lyoko Warriors leave the factory seemingly for the last time.
(I will hold it close as I wonder so aimlessly)
A single computer is shown coming online, lines of 1s and 0s streaming across the screen before the screen is replaced by a glowing sphere with the Eye of XANA, at least eight variations appearing on it. From the sphere came lines of data emerging in eight different directions. The lines of data formed into various regions, all of them floating landscapes resembling a forest, a desert, an arctic, mountains, volcanoes, swamp and a jungle.
(Into this new world)
The new lands orbited the golden sphere as the camera zoomed in on the Eye of XANA staring at the screen.
(The game has only just begun)
The Eye then flashes red, and the sphere turns black.
(I can see it in your eyes)
A girl with pink hair sits on her bed, panting as she turns to see two pictures of her friends and her father. She smiles briefly but that smile turns to a look of horror as both her friends and her father are engulfed by a great darkness and the red Eye shines down on her. The Supercomputer, thought to be shut down, is reactivated and there is a flash of light.
(This is where tomorrow brings a new game)
Aelita is shown alone both in the real world and in Lyoko, hordes of monsters surrounding her.
Geoff is first shown in his human form before transitioning to his Lyoko form.
Next to him is Bridgette, holding her surfboard in the real world before changing into her Lyoko form, her board splitting into two swords.
(It's time to learn that pain is gain)
Gwen is shown sitting in front of tree, looking up and is instantly changed into her Lyoko Avatar, brandishing her scythe.
DJ is shown in the woods, tending to a little rabbit as he stands up and morphs into his Lyoko form, turning to face the camera with a stern glare.
LeShawna is last, ready to fight in both her human form and her Lyoko form.
(Ready fight!)
William and a dark reflection of himself as XANA's General are shown standing back-to-back, turning to face each other and swinging their swords.
The screen is split by the two swords, showing New Lyoko as the title appears:
CODE: TOTAL DRAMA REALITY
(I gotta crush and paint away the anguish)
Aelita is shown first, sitting at the computer before she is then shown as the DJ of a party. She morphs into her Lyoko form and conjures an energy field.
This was followed quickly by Geoff wildly waving his hat while riding something with Bridgette holding onto him by the back.
(Of my past for the sake of my future)
Gwen is shown next, drawing in her sketchbook and signifying with a sad face as Duncan, Courtney and Trent appear behind her, their backs facing in her direction.
(Until my life comes to an end)
DJ is shown running for his life from appears to be a giant bear.
(I am gonna fight to tear apart that destiny)
LeShawna is shown next, standing confidently with her team, ready to face whatever crazy challenge comes next.
(Aoh, break out and start a revolution)
The antagonists of Total Drama: Heather, Courtney, Justin, Anne Maria, Jo, Lightning, Scott and Alejandro in the Total Drama Machine are shown from left to right, grinning or glaring at the camera, holding up an imaginary case of the million- dollar prize money in their hands. Chris Mclean is shown next, arms crossed as the chair he is sitting in spins to meet the camera, zooming out to show it is the monitor room for the Total Drama show.
A dark shadow appears above them, scrawny in appearance and hair falling over the left eye as it glares darkly at the screen.
(Until you find the answer you're looking for)
The camera then shows Aelita with the new Lyoko Warriors, the TD Lyoko Warriors and William sitting around a campfire, all of them staring up into the starry night sky, a picture of her friends and father resting in Aelita's hands.
(I'll challenge all my limits)
Aelita in her Lyoko form with her wings sprouting from her back is shown, clutching Mr. Puck in her hands as she seemingly falls back, her friends and relatives in the background.
The camera moves down to show William kneeling down, clutching his sword in both hands. As this happens, the camera moves down, showing depictions of the TD Lyoko Warriors and other characters in the background.
The camera continues to move down to show Geoff pulling Bridgette into sharing a picture with LeShawna bringing her face up over Bridgette's shoulder, the three of them in their Lyoko forms. While this happens, Harold, Lindsay, Beth, Trent, Katie and Sadie are shown in the background.
Below them is Gwen with her arms and legs curled around her with her cape swirling behind her like wings while Heather and Courtney are shown in the background glaring at each other followed by Sierra clutching Cody who looks distressed, Eva crossing her arms along with B and Beth both waving, the latter looking very shy. Behind Gwen appeared Dawn in her own Lyoko form in a meditative pose while upside down while facing Gwen with her eyes closed, her light robe contrasting with Gwen's cape with dark clothing, almost forming a yin-yang symbol.
Behind Dawn appears Scott, snickering evilly.
(Knowing this could be my only chance now)
DJ is shown last, seemingly falling back while holding his pet rabbit: Bunny in his hands with a happy smile. His teammates shown in the background starting with Duncan, Tyler, Justin and Alejandro ending with Chef Hatchet and Chris McClean.
He is followed by Mike and Zoey, both clutching their hands and smiling at each other as in background appears Brick, Jo, Lightning, Sam and Staci.
And lately Cameron appears staring up at the others.
(To overcome this fate that has come over me)
The screen turns black and the Eye of XANA immediately flashes into existence, glowing red and shadowing the outline of a singular person with red glowing eyes.
(The ending of this story)
Aelita is shown, standing in a meadow now with the wind gently blowing through her hair.
(I will hold it close as I wonder so aimlessly)
She holds up a hand, gazing sadly up as the images of her friends and parents appear in the sky.
(Into this new world)
Her hand then becomes digital, transitioning to Lyoko.
((The game has only just begun))
She gazes up a little longer before she notices her new friends and allies standing with her and smiles before looking forward, seeing a tower in the distance.
(I can see it in your eyes)
Just as they are about to rush towards the tower, the camera angles up into the digital sky as the song reaches its end.
The scene then shifts to pictures of Aelita and her friends both old and new on a desktop as the title appears on last time:
CODE: TOTAL DRAMA REALITY
( No Pain No Game (From Btoom!) Ends )
Episode 18: Haunted
One by one, the bolts of electrical energy reached out and touched the decoys Cameron had made, destroying them on contact. The three captives could only look on in stunned, horrified silence at their once effective tactic failing them.
"Aelita, the decoys were destroyed." Cameron informed with a look of surprise on his face. "The Guardians are still there, and they still got them."
"What?!" Aelita gasped, horrified at the news.
She was so sure it would work but XANA had outwitted them again and he still had her friends captive. Now she was left to decide whether to save her friends…
Or save their families.
"Aelita?" Bridgette asked with concerned look from seeing the face of distraught Aelita was no doubt showing.
What could she do?
If she went to deactivate the tower now, it was likely her friends would be returned to whatever digital purgatory XANA had dumped them in before but if she went to save her friends now then she would be endangering innocent lives in the real world. She couldn't just turn around and drop everything but…
Ulrich.
Odd.
Yumi.
They were her first friends after…Jeremy.
'Jeremy, what would you have me do?' Aelita wondered to herself.
"Aelita!"
Aelita's shot open and she looked up. "William?"
"Hey."
The doors opened, allowing William and Dawn to enter the lab. "Hey, are we late?"
"Just in time." Cameron perked up. "So you went to get William, Dawn? We were wondering where you went."
"I was told to seek out William." Dawn simply said. "But we have little time."
"XANA sent a polymorph to take out the supercomputer. Luckily back-up has arrived." William stated.
"Back-up?"
Back in the factory lobby, the polymorph resembling Aelita grumbled as it got up, staring up to see none other than…
"You may look like a kid, but I can tell you're nothing like Stones…or Hopper." Jim remarked, brandishing a crowbar.
Nearby, Michael Belpois opened his eyes.
"So, what's going on in Lyoko?" William asked, getting back on track. "Are they getting close to the tower?"
"Well, they've had a bit of a start, but we have another problem. We found Aelita's friends." Cameron answered, causing William's eyes to go wide.
"Really?"
"The problem is we can't free them from those monsters Aelita calls Guardians." Cameron answered. "They fried the decoys Aelita instructed me to make."
William frowned, grabbing Camerons' headset.
"Hey!"
"Aelita, me and Dawn are here. We'll go free the others while you focus on the tower." William quickly said.
"You can…William, wait. What about the Scyphozoa? XANA might send it after you." Aelita pointed out.
"We can't pass up a chance to save the others. You focus on the tower." William passed the headset back to Cameron. "Dawn, we're going to the Ice Sector."
Dawn simply nodded and followed William into the elevator.
Cameron looked back at the screen. "Aelita, should I go along with this?"
Aelita had an unsure look on her face but reluctantly nodded. "Keep an eye on them. If the Scyphozoa shows up, devirtualize both of them no matter what."
"Right."
"Okay, here we go."
William and Dawn stepped into the scanners, William on the left and Dawn on the right.
"Transfer William."
The first scanner doors closed.
"Transfer Dawn."
The next scanner doors closed.
"Scanner William."
A ring of light traveled up William's body.
"Scanner Dawn."
A similar ring of light travelled up Dawn's body.
"Virtualization."
Both closed their eyes as a gust of wind blew through their hair, followed by a blinding white light.
"HA!" Jim swung the crowbar…
Only for the polymorph to easily catch with one hand and astounding strength. Jim looked surprised but had no time to react as the clone blasted him with electricity, sending him flying through the air and landing harshly on the ground several feet away. With Jim down, the clone turned to the elevator.
Aelita turned to the others. "Now let's get to the tower."
"You heard her!" LeShawna said to the others.
"As much as I like the board, is it impossible to add my own colour scheme to it?" Gwen asked as she stepped back onto the Overboard.
"Sorry, when Jeremy and I designed it, we had Odd's preferences in mind." Aelita said, taking the Over-Wing.
"No offense to him, but he likes purple cats way too much." Gwen chuckled.
"We said the same thing many times, but he insisted he didn't dream of being a purple cat." Aelita shrugged before they took off, rushing through the Forest Sector.
It wasn't long before they had company.
"WATCH OUT!" Geoff dodged laser blasts. "TARANTULAS!"
"Those aren't Tarantulas!" Aelita shouted.
Up ahead were two black versions of the Tarantula while the Eye was now colored silver.
"They look exactly like them, minus the new paint job." DJ said.
"There is more to it than that; you can't expect them to be the same just because colour is slightly different." Aelita said.
"Well let's get rid of them before they do anything else." LeShawna shot ahead. "YEE HAW!" She leaped off her vehicle and swung her hammer down...but a red glowing force field flashed to life around the monster and sent her flying back. "What the-?!"
"They have shields!" Aelita stated stopping her vehicle.
Red glowing force fields surrounded the Dark Tarantulas which protected them from even LeShawna's hammer. LeShawna was just getting back to her feet when the two monsters aimed their guns and fired. She staggered as she was hit before she could pick her hammer back up and defend herself.
"LeShawna!" Gwen shouted as the two monsters fired, peppering her with laser fire until she was devirtualized.
The scanner LeShawna opened up releasing her. Slightly exhausted from the side effects of being devirtualized like that she slammed her fist into the floor frustrated at letting her guard down.
"Energy Field!" Aelita shouted throwing a pink orb of energy at one of the monsters.
The orb harmlessly dissipated against the monster's shield.
"Let me try!" said Geoff.
He held up his axe and it glowed as he swung it, releasing the same energy wave that defeated the Scorpion in the last battle. However not even it was able to breach the barrier.
"Aw man!" Geoff complained as the monsters fired at him.
He jumped off the Overbike as it was destroyed by the laser fire. DJ held up his hands and created a barrier to block incoming lasers.
"So now what?"
"We have to find a way around them." Gwen answered, looking up. "Cam, any way to help?"
"I'm scanning them now-AH!"
"Cameron?!" Gwen and Bridgette asked with alarmed faces.
Cameron was slammed into the wall by the polymorph who then turned to the computer. It marched over and prepared to smash the computer when something slammed into the back of its head.
"You do not shock the friends of the Shawna!" LeShawna grabbed the clone and threw it over her shoulder, slamming it into the ground.
Its form shimmered and became distorted. LeShawna turned to Cameron, rushing over to look at him.
"You good, Iron-boy?" LeShawna asked, helping Cameron to his feet.
"I'm good. What about you, LeShawna? Are you okay?" Cameron asked. "You got devirtualized pretty badly."
"I'm fine. Those monsters took me by surprise." LeShawna replied, helping Cameron back over to the computer. "What's the story on them?"
"Well, they're obviously modified versions of the Tarantulas." Cameron noted, sitting on the chair. "Their shields on the other hand are completely new and their defense power is one hundred percent. Virtually, nothing can break through."
"Nothing's unbreakable." LeSahwna muttered.
Behind them, the clone stood up as its distorted imagery became solid again.
Gwen watched as DJ continued to hold up his barrier to deflect the incoming lasers. She threw scythe, it spun through the air towards the monsters. But like all the other attacks it bounced off their shields, but luckily it flew back into her hands.
"This is no good! We can't break through those shields!" she shouted.
"We have to try!" Geoff called back.
"I have an idea. Just hold them for a few minutes." Aelita said.
She sat down on the ground in a meditative pose as she concentrated to use her power. XANA will remember that he was not the only who controlled Lyoko. They heard a soft melodic voice singing that sounded much like Aelita but she did not open her mouth. The ground beneath the shielded Tarantulas began to crack open and vanish.
With no ground beneath them the Tarantulas fell into the void. Two pillars of light erupted from the sea. And then it was quiet.
"Wow. What was that?" asked Geoff.
"My power. I can change the environment of Lyoko around me, just as you saw I altered the landscape so that the monsters would have nothing to stand on." Aelita replied standing up.
"Awesome." Geoff said smiling.
"It is but it cost me life points." Aelita replied.
"That sucks." Said Gwen.
"Nice work, Aelita." Cameron cut in. "I couldn't find anything that could be used to get through those shields."
"I hope we don't run into anymore monsters with those shields." Said DJ hopping back onto the Over-Jet.
"Don't count on us being that lucky." Gwen said as she stepped back onto the Over-board.
"Don't mind if I hop on, Bridge?" asked Geoff.
"Not at all, come on."
Bridgette held out her surfboard and it began to float in the air. Geoff hopped up behind her and they took off towards the tower.
"Cam, how are William and Dawn doing?" Aelita asked.
"They are in the Ice Sector, coming up on those Guardians right now."
As soon as they landed, William took off in the direction of the Guardians with Dawn trailing behind him. William would have used his Super-Smoke if he didn't have Dawn with him, but he didn't want to leave her alone to possibly get possessed.
He had to prove to himself that he can be the warrior that Aelita and her friends needed.
The orange glow up ahead showed him the location of the others.
'This is it! We'll get them back and we can all work together!' William thought with a hopeful look on his face.
Then the other shoe dropped.
"William, Dawn, look out!"
A single red bolt shot at William from the side and would have hit him if Dawn didn't jump forward and knock him down. The bolt sailed over both of them as they hit the ground and hit a nearby icy glyph.
BOOM!
Instead of dispersing on impact like lasers would this one exploded on contact, destroying the cliff and sending debris flying. William lifted his head and looked in the direction of what fired the blast, seeing a new kind of monster.
It was a large, stony looking monster with what looked like lava surging through its veins with smoke rising from its body. It had two large legs at the front and two smaller legs at the back and was shaped like a turtle's shell with a white Eye of XANA imprinted on its head.
It was almost like a mini-Kolossus.
The monster 'stared' at them, taking two steps forward, each step making a stomping sound as the creature's red 'mouth' began to glow fiery red.
"We got to move!" William helped Dawn up and they ran as the monster fired again.
BOOM!
The ground where they had previously standing was now a smoking crater and the new monster was not finished with them by a long shot.
"Dawn, stay back." William summoned his sword. "Super Smoke!"
He dissolved into white smoke and flew at the monsters, its next shot passing through William's smoky form. William flew above the monster and solidified back to normal, swinging his sword down with a battle cry.
SHING!
"Huh?!" William was thrown back as his sword literally rebounded off of the monster's skin.
Dawn watched and saw the monster was now glowing fiery orange, projecting a layer of energy around its body that blocked William's sword. Meanwhile, William crashed landed on the ground close to Dawn, his sword landing next to him.
"Cameron, something protected the monster's weakness." Dawn quickly said, rushing to help William up.
"I saw it." Cameron replied. "I just ran scan. It's called a Volcanoid and it's very dangerous. It's using the lava inside its body to project some sort of heat shield over its vital spots."
The new monster labelled as a Volcanoid fired another blast at William and Dawn, forcing the pair to run before they were hit.
BOOM!
BOOM!
BOOM!
"Some sort of weakness would be nice to know!" William called out as he and Dawn ran for their lives.
"I've got something." Cameron replied. "It looks like the shield is only be projected to cover the front but the back is exposed. In fact, I think the back is where the source of the shield is located."
"So, we need to attack from behind." William said and turned around. "Dawn, take cover. Super-Smoke!"
William turned into smoke, avoiding another blast from the Volcanoid and managed to get behind it before he returned to normal. Cameron was right as William saw the monster's back was completely exposed while pulsing red. With one swing of his sword, William watched as the Volcanoid staggered forward, the shield protecting the main body vanishing. The Volcanoid tried to turn but it was clumsy and slow, allowing William to strike its body several times before it finally exploded.
William let out a sigh of relief, falling on one knee while leaning against his sword.
That had been one tough monster.
"William." Dawn rushed up to him. "You did it."
"Yeah." William nodded, managing to stand up. "Let's get the others."
"He did it." Cameron uttered with a smile on his face.
"Yeah! That's what I'm talking about!" Leshawna pumped a fist into the air. "Now they just need to-GAH!"
A blast of electricity came behind, shocking LeShawna as she screamed. The polymorph then grabbed LeShawna by the back of her shirt and threw her out of the way. Cameron only had time to turn around before he was blasted out of the chair next and once again slammed into the wall. The polymorph took Cameron's place at the computer and grinned.
William and Dawn reached the icy platform the three Guardians rested on, stopping and looking at each one of them and seeing Ulrich, Odd and Yumi trapped in each one.
"What do we do now?" Dawn asked.
"Well, I have a bit of an idea. Cam, can you rig a duplicate like before?" William asked, holding up his sword. "Cameron?"
Suddenly a wall of ice appeared behind William, separating him from Dawn who cried out in alarm. "William!"
William turned around to see the icy wall that had just appeared. "Cam, what's going on? Cam!"
"Hello, William."
William froze as a voice spoke from behind him. An icy mist appeared all around him, obscuring him from Dawn's vision.
"Cam, I can't see William anymore." Dawn said with worry. "Cameron, what is happening?"
On the other side of the ice wall, William trembled as watched a dark figure move through the icy white mist, slowly approaching him. The figure strode with confidence as he came into view, grinning as glinting red eyes beheld the shocked and somewhat terrified William.
"It's been a long time, hasn't it?" The Avatar of XANA spoke to him.
William was too stunned to move, feeling his heart, his digital heart going still. He knew who it was standing before him, he could feel the being's presence and he could hear his heartbeat alongside his own.
XANA stopped just a few feet in front of him. "You've done quite well to make this far, even with assistance." XANA then glanced at the icy wall, seeing Dawn behind it even though she couldn't see him. "And you even brought a spare with you. That's good. I was getting bored just waiting out here."
William glanced at XANA and then at the Guardians, seeing the faces of the ones trapped inside, especially Yumi looking very concerned.
And they had good reason to be worried.
"Well, William?" XANA asked curiously. "Aren't you going to free them? Isn't that why you came here? To free Aelita's dear friends."
William tightened the grip on his sword, but it was trembling slightly.
"They were the reason you fought so hard to break free of my control before. In fact, it was Yumi calling out to you that one time that allowed you to resist."
Behind him, Yumi seemingly heard everything despite being trapped in the Guardian.
"And yet, you stand there. Is it perhaps you feel vindicated now?" XANA asked.
Vindicated?
Why would he…
"It's all right if you feel that way. After all, they treated you so harshly after you finally free. Actually, harshly is too strong a word. They treated you like you didn't exist, cast you out by their actions and subtle words, making it clear that they did not want you around, even though you wished to make amends for your mistake." XANA stated knowingly. "They left you to face the aftermath of what happened to you, all alone. Months lost to you, your reputation in tatters after the clone they created as a decoy made a fool of itself in your name, nights spent with you studying to catch up so you wouldn't be forced to repeat a year at school and falling asleep only to be faced with nightmares as your mind struggled to remember. And worst of all, you couldn't talk to anyone about it because they didn't want anything to do with you and thus made it clear that your problems weren't theirs."
William's eyes went wide as he stepped back, nearly dropping his sword. "H-How…how do you know that?"
XANA grinned while behind him, Ulrich, Odd and Yumi were all watching with surprised and concerned faces.
Could they hear it all?
"I know a lot more than that, William. In fact, I know why you are able to use the supercomputer and access the information in Sector 5 like Aelita can. It's because you're not fully severed from me." XANA stated. "We're still connected, even after all this time."
"Wh-what?! No! That's impossible!" William stepped back.
"Is it?" XANA tilted his head slightly. "Then answer this for me. About a month after the supercomputer was shut down, the nightmares suddenly stopped and you were doing better in class."
William paused. 'How does he know? Is he really still in my head?'
"Suddenly, the studying became much easier to you and you practically aced every test, saving yourself from repeating a year that would have had you attending class to Ulrich, Odd, Jeremy and Aelita." XANA continued. "Did you think it was all on your own? That you managed to retain the information through staying up late, sleeping only for about two to three hours and then keeping yourself awake to answer all the questions correctly? Did you really think you suddenly became your own…Einstein?"
William was paling now. "No…"
"Yes. Just as they never truly got rid me, you and I have remained connected all this time. I stopped the nightmares; I helped you retain the knowledge you needed to save yourself from failing your grades and I helped you find the strength you needed to not care about making amends with them anymore." XANA proclaimed. "And in return, you have only been using the knowledge and powers I gave you. The ability to operate the supercomputer, to access and create programs in Sector 5, it all comes from what I gave you and you failed to realize that in all that time, it meant I was still here all along. We have been connected all this time, even when I was dormant, I could still hear your thoughts and I could still influence you."
William trembled, backing away until he hit the ice wall behind him. "No…No…That's not true!"
"It is." XANA softly walked forward, matching William step by step. "You may fear me, you may hate me, William but I did more to help you in the last two years than Aelita, Odd, Ulrich, Jeremy and especially Yumi ever did."
William was not the only one to hear this.
The three captive Lyoko Warriors heard everything and they, especially Yumi were horrified at what they had heard.
They thought back to how William had been in the first few months after they had shut down the supercomputer and they could remember him looking…
Tired.
They probably could have done something but no one, especially not Ulrich or Yumi had wanted anything to do with William. The trauma of facing him as a minion of XANA had been too much to bear at times and they felt he couldn't be trusted because he had been reckless. Only Jeremy and Aelita had been willing to be cordial with William.
And then suddenly, a few months later William looked better and his grade improved.
And it was…because of XANA?
"And now, William. You will have to make a choice." XANA declared, spreading his arms out. "Will you choose them…or will you choose yourself?"
That was when the Ice Sector began to tremble.
The polymorph snickered as it typed away. "I have everything under control."
Cameron grunted as he tried getting up while nearby LeShawna stood up, glaring at the clone. "Oh, you did not zap me!"
The elevator doors then opened, revealing Micheal Belpois.
"It's time to set the real you free, William."
