Returning to Hearthome City
After Lincoln and the rest of the group walked through Route 212, they have finally arrived at Hearthome City.
"Here we are; back in Hearthome City." said Lincoln.
"Hope the gym leader is here this time." said Clyde.
"Let's go to the Pokemon Center first; gonna exchange one of my Pokemon for the Plusle I caught for Lola." said Luna.
"And the Minun I caught for Lana." said Sam.
"And I might as well get the Porygon I caught for Lisa." said Lincoln. The group walked to the Hearthome City Pokemon Center; once there, Lincoln used the Pokemon Center's PC to exchange his Victreebel for Porygon, then Luna exchanged her Rotom for Plusle, and Sam exchanged her Onix for Minun. After that, the group walked out of the Pokemon Center.
Moments later, the group were standing outside the Hearthome City gym.
"I hope the gym leader is here this time." said Stella. The group began walking to the doors when Lincoln stopped.
"Wait, I almost forgot to call my family and tell them about my gym battle." said Lincoln. He was about to call his family on his poketch when the gym doors swung open and Barry runs through them and into Lincoln, making them fall to the ground.
"Hey, watch where you're standing!" exclaimed Barry, rubbing his head with his eyes closed. "I should fine you."
"Barry?" replied Lincoln. Barry opens his eyes and looks to see Lincoln.
"Oh, it's you, Lincoln." said Barry.
"Are you okay, Lincoln?" asked Stella, walking to Lincoln and helping him to his feet.
"Yeah, I'm fine, Stella." replied Lincoln as he dusts himself off; Barry gets on his feet, then gets hearts in his eyes when he sees Stella.
"Hello, Stella." Barry said with a big grin.
"Hi, Barry." Stella replied.
"I saw you on TV at the Wallace Cup." said Barry with a blush. "I thought you looked beautiful in that bellydancer outfit."
"Uhhhhh, thanks?" Stella replied. Barry then looks towards Lincoln.
"So, did you come here for a gym battle, Lincoln?" asked Barry.
"Yes." replied Lincoln.
"Well, you'll have to wait a while." replied Barry. "Fantina just had an intense gym battle with yours truly."
"Fantina; is that the name of the gym leader here?" asked Lincoln.
"Yes." replied Barry.
"Did you beat her?" asked Luna.
"No, I lost." replied Barry, lowering his head in shame.
"Guess you'll have to wait a little longer before that gym battle, Lincoln." said Dawn.
"Dang it." said Lincoln.
"What should we do until then?" asked Simon.
"I guess we can go to the Grand Underground." replied Lincoln.
"Grand Underground?" asked Barry.
"There are these tunnels under the entire Sinnoh Region." said Lincoln. "There are caverns that have Pokemon that you can't find above ground."
"We found lots of Pokemon there." said Sam.
"Wow; mind if I tag along and check it out?" asked Barry.
"I don't see why not." replied Lincoln. He takes out the Explorer's Kit out of his backpack and uses it; moments later, everyone was in the Grand Underground.
"This place is amazing!" said Barry.
"Not only can you find Pokemon here, there are some valuable items in the tunnel walls you can dig up." said Clyde.
"I'll dig around later; I'm gonna find me some Pokemon!" said Barry before running down a tunnel.
"While he's busy, let's go send Lana, Lola, and Lisa the Pokemon we got for them." said Lincoln; everyone nods in response. They arrived at a cave that was identical to the one everyone had a picnic with their families in. Lincoln uses his poketch to contact his family; seconds later, Lori answers.
"Hey, Lincoln." said Lori.
"Hey, Lori; we're sending some more Pokemon for Lola, Lana, and Lisa." said Lincoln.
"Okay, Lincoln." said Lori. Seconds later, a green portal appears. Lincoln takes out Porygon's pokeball.
"This Pokemon's for Lisa; it's called a Porygon." said Lincoln; he tosses Porygon's pokeball into the portal. Luna pulls out Plusle's pokeball.
"This little dudette's called a Plusle; give it to Lola." said Luna; she tosses Plusle's pokeball into the portal. Sam then pulls out Minun's pokeball.
"And this little dude's for Lana; he's called a Minun." said Sam; she then tosses Minun's pokeball into the portal.
"I'll make sure our sisters get these, Lincoln." said Lori. "And could you find me more Pokemon? It's not fair that some of our sisters have more Pokemon than me; I'm the oldest, so I should have more."
"We'll try to find some." said Lincoln. "Also, I'll be having another gym battle real soon; can you let our family know?"
"Sure, Lincoln." replied Lori. Lincoln then ends the call.
"So, we're going to find more Pokemon for Lori?" asked Stella.
"Just one for now; I don't want to wait for my gym battle any longer." replied Lincoln.
"How about that Pokemon?" asked Simon. Everyone turns to see Simon pointing at a Pokemon that looked like a light blue firefly with purple curls on its head, small yellow antennaes on its head, a black body with a light blue chest, purple rings around its arms and legs, and light purple wings. Dawn takes out her pokedex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Illumise, the Firefly Pokemon. With its sweet aroma, it guides Volbeat to draw signs with light in the night sky." said Dawn's pokedex.
"I guess this Pokemon will do." said Lincoln; he takes a pokeball out of his waist. "Bastiodon, go!" He throws Bastiodon's pokeball and releases him. "Bastiodon, use Metal Sound!" Bastiodon's head glows light blue and silver soundwaves are released from it and they hit Illumise, weakening its special defense. Illumise flies at Bastiodon and rams him, but not doing much damage.
"Bastiodon, use Ancient Power!" said Lincoln. Bastiodon becomes surrounded by white energy and it forms into a silver ball of energy; Bastiodon launches it at Illumise and hits it, dealing super effective damage; Illumise falls to the ground. Lincoln takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at Illumise, hitting it, and sucking it in; it wiggled a few times until it clicked. "Yes! I caught an Illumise."
"Good work, Lincoln." said Dawn. Lincoln takes out his pokedex and uses it to look up Illumise's information.
"This says Illumise is a girl, she knows Play Nice, Tackle, Sweet Scent, Charm, Quick Attack, and Struggle Bug." said Lincoln. "She has the Tinted Lens ability which doubles the power of moves that aren't very effective against some Pokemon."
All of a sudden, a Pokemon that looked almost identical to Illumise, only with a purple head with curly yellow and black antennaes on its head, a thick red collar around its neck, a purple and yellow striped belly, black arms and legs with a red ring around each of them, and purple wings flies at the group, causing them to jump out of the way; the Pokemon turned and glared at them.
"What is that?" asked Sam as she takes out her pokedex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Volbeat, the Firefly Pokemon. It communicates with others by lighting up its rear at night. It loves Illumise's sweet aroma." said Sam's pokedex.
"I'm guessing this Pokemon didn't like you catching Illumise, little bro." Sam says to Lincoln.
"How about I capture this dude?" asked Luna. "We can send both Volbeat and Illumise to Lori and those two lovebirds, I mean bugs, will always be together."
"Good idea, Luna." said Lincoln. Luna takes a pokeball from her waist.
"Let's rock, Golem!" said Luna, throwing Golem's pokeball and releasing her. Volbeat flies at Golem with incredible speed and rams her, but not dealing much damage. "Golem, use Rollout!" Golem rolls in place real fast, then she rolls into Volbeat, dealing super effective damage, and knocking Volbeat to the ground. As it struggles to get up, he becomes surrounded by a light green aura.
"What's going on with Volbeat?" asked Dawn.
"Not sure." replied Simon. Volbeat releases streams of green energy from its body and they hit Golem, dealing damage. Golem rolls at Volbeat again and slams into it, dealing super effective damage, and knocking it to the ground. Luna takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at Volbeat, hitting it, and sucking it in; the pokeball wiggled until it clicked.
"Yes! I caught Volbeat!" said Luna.
"Way to go, Lunes." said Sam. She uses her pokedex to look up Volbeat's information. "This says Volbeat's a dude, he knows Play Nice, Tackle, Double Team, Confuse Ray, Quick Attack, and Struggle Bug; he has the Swarm ability which powers up his bug type moves when his energy is low." Lincoln tosses Illumise's pokeball and releases her while Luna tosses Volbeat's pokeball and releases him; the two Pokemon see each other and fly to each other in a hug. Lincoln takes out two Potions and sprays both Pokemon with it, healing their wounds. After Lincoln and Luna returned both Pokemon to their pokeballs, Lincoln uses his poketch to call his family.
"Hey again, Lincoln." said Lori.
"Hey, Lori; did you give Lola, Lana, and Lisa the Pokemon we sent?" asked Lincoln.
"Yeah; they, literally, like them." replied Lori.
"We caught a couple of Pokemon for you, Lori." said Lincoln. "The one with the light blue head is called an Illumise."
"And the dude with the purple head is called a Volbeat." said Luna.
"Those two Pokemon are in love with each other." said Sam.
"It's, literally, nice of you to send them both here so they'll be together." said Lori. Seconds later, a green portal appeared; Lincoln tosses Illumise's pokeball into it, then Luna tosses Volbeat's pokeball into it. Seconds later, the portal vanishes. "Thanks, you guys."
"No problem." said Lincoln; he then ends the call.
Meanwhile, in a cavern filled with lava, Barry was looking around.
"This Grand Underground place is incredible; the caverns here are different from one another." said Barry. He suddenly sees a quadrupedal, doglike Pokemon with orange fur with black stripes on its back and legs, and beige fur on its chest and belly, and a beige tail walking by. Barry takes out a pokedex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Growlithe, the Puppy Pokemon. It is a Pokémon with a loyal nature. It will remain motionless until it is given an order by its Trainer." said Barry's pokedex.
"I'm catching this one." said Barry. He then takes out a pokeball. "Empoleon, go!" He throws the pokeball and releases an Empoleon. Growlithe growled at Empoleon and it slumps. "Don't let that Pokemon get to you, Empoleon; use Aqua Jet!" Empoleon flies at Growlithe while water surrounded its body and it slams into Growlithe, dealing super effective damage. Growlithe lunges at Empoleon and bites it, dealing damage, and making Empoleon flinch. Growlithe charges at Empoleon while a wheel of fire surrounded its body and it rams Empoleon, dealing damage.
"Empoleon, use Hydro Cannon!" said Barry. Empoleon opens its beak and a glowing ball of water appears in front of it; Empoleon fires the ball of water at Growlithe, hitting it, and dealing super effective damage, knocking Growlithe to the ground. Barry takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at Growlithe; the pokeball hits Growlithe and it gets sucked into it. The pokeball wiggled a few times until it clicked. "Yes! Growlithe is mine!" Growlithe's pokeball vanishes and gets transported to storage. Barry uses his pokedex to look up Growlithe's information.
"My Growlithe's a boy, he knows Ember, Leer, Howl, Bite, Flame Wheel, Helping Hand, Agility, Fire Fang, and Retaliate; he has the Intimidate ability which weakens his opponents attack strength." said Barry. He returns Empoleon to its pokeball and walks out the cave.
Meanwhile, in a tunnel, Stella was using a pickaxe to chip away at a wall; she suddenly finds a Flame Plate.
"Whoa, I found a Flame Plate." said Stella.
"Way to go, Stella." said Lincoln.
"I think I'll give this to Blaziken." said Stella. She takes out Blaziken's pokeball and tosses it, releasing Blaziken. Stella then gives Blaziken the Flame Plate.
"How are you guys doing?" asked Barry who was walking over to them.
"Caught some Pokemon." said Luna.
"And I found a Flame Plate for my Blaziken." said Stella.
"Where did you find that?" asked Barry.
"Found it in a tunnel wall." replied Stella.
"Here; let me try." said Barry. Stella gives Barry the pickaxe and he begins digging through the wall. An hour later, Barry continued to dig. "Come on; I got to find something!" He suddenly sees something blue sticking out of the wall; he continues digging through the wall until a Splash Plate is revealed.
"Hey, a Splash Plate." said Sam.
"What does that do?" asked Barry.
"It powers up the water type moves of the Pokemon holding it." replied Sam. Barry pulls the Splash Plate out of the wall.
"Excellent; I'm giving this to Empoleon." said Barry.
"Did your Prinplup evolve?" asked Lincoln.
"Does this answer your question?" replied Barry. He takes out Empoleon's pokeball and tosses it, releasing Empoleon. Barry then gives Empoleon the Splash Plate.
"I think we spent enough time here; I'm sure Fantina's Pokemon are treated by now." said Lincoln.
"Mind if I watch your gym battle, Lincoln?" asked Barry.
"Sure, I don't mind." replied Lincoln. The group then walks to the ladder; as Lincoln walks to the ladder, Barry grabs his shoulder.
"Hey; ladies first." said Barry.
"I think its best for the boys to go up first." said Lincoln.
"How come?" asked Barry. Lincoln puts a hand over Barry's ear and whispers into it; seconds later, Barry's eyes widen. "Oh; I guess that's a good reason."
Moments later, the group were back on the surface. They stopped by the Pokemon Center where Lincoln used the PC to get his Victreebel back, Luna uses it to add Shellder to her team, and Sam used it to put Onix back on her team. After that, they left the Pokemon Center and began walking to the Hearthome Gym.
Lincoln is ready to take on Fantina, the leader of the Hearthome City gym. Will he beat her and earn his fifth badge? Wait and find out.
