Welcome back to The Injustice Wars. Last time, while Horror-Show got bollocked by Enchantress, Doctor Fate, and Brainiac for letting the heroes get away, Spyro and Cynder explained how they and Superman ended up working together, with Superman sprinkling in sarcastic remarks all the way through. While Blaze discusses their plans for taking out the Regime once Brainiac is bested, Superman finds something with his X-Ray vision. It's not the control room, but he claims they'll want to see it. So, what's behind the hidden door? Read on to discover... (Fair warning, this chapter's going to be a bit shorter than usual)
(Our scene resumes on the other side of the door Superman just ripped open, allowing everyone in the group to come in, and they are stunned by what they see. A room full of orbs of pulsating square patterns)
Belial Aether: By the gods...
Black Diamond: What is this?
Blaze: If I had to take a guess, this is Brainiac's collection.
Batman: This is just disturbing.
Superman: For once, we're entirely on the same page, Bruce.
Spyro: Metropolis must be in here somewhere then.
Cynder: (Looking towards the back of the room) I think that's it over there.
(As Cynder points towards what she sees, we see exactly what it is, a digital layout of several cities stolen from this version of Earth. Metropolis is one of them, but there's Coast City and Atlantis as well.)
Blaze: He must be waiting for a few more cities to be collected before condensing them into... (Looking at the orbs) Whatever these things are.
(While this is going on, Supergirl starts looking around and immediately hones in on two of the orbs in particular)
Supergirl: It can't be.
(Sure enough, Supergirl touches the orbs and immediately realizes what they are)
Supergirl: Kandor...
(While the heroes contemplate their next move and Supergirl reminisces about home, the scene transitions back to the control room, where the villains are observing this scene, and Brainiac seems to be starting to panic)
Brainiac: They have found my collection...
Enchantress: That's what that is? (Seeing the sheer number of orbs in that room) How many worlds have you been to?
Brainiac: We must put a stop to this immediately. The eight of them together have the potential to do great damage to my work.
Horror-Show: Then we best get moving.
Doctor Fate: Agreed.
(As the villains mobilize towards the collection, the scene resumes in that room with everybody discussing their plan of action)
Superman: What are we going to do now?
Blaze: While finding the collection is useful, it doesn't get us closer to finding Brainiac.
Batman: And if anything, it puts us in more jeopardy.
Belial Aether: Why's that?
Superman: If Brainiac's as neurotic about things as I've seen, he won't like us traipsing about in his collection.
Blaze: He does strike me as being like Bruce with his Batcave armory.
Batman: I have an organizational system. Sue me.
Spyro: It still wouldn't kill you to not be as neurotic about it though.
Cynder: Regardless of Bruce's pickiness in organization, we need to make a plan. Because if I had to guess, Brainiac is probably on his way down here right now.
(And just as Cynder says that, she senses an unfamiliar shadow behind her, and immediately regrets saying what she did)
Cynder: Correction, I'd guess he's already here.
Brainiac: Your hypothesis stands correct.
(As Brainiac speaks, everybody turns around to see him, Enchantress, Doctor Fate, and Horror-Show are all standing there. And clearly the captain of the Skull Ship is not pleased)
Brainiac: Step away from my collection and you will not be harmed.
Blaze: With the sheer number of innocent lives you've trapped in here, that's not going to happen.
Superman: And you just made the biggest mistake of your life coming down here. Because now, we're going to take you down.
Enchantress: (Summons her vile green magic) Last I checked, you're still vulnerable to magic.
Doctor Fate: And there are two world class sorcerers in this room.
Belial Aether: You forget, I'm something of a sorcerer myself.
Black Diamond: (Drawing his sword) It seems avoiding a conflict is impossible.
Batman: (Drawing a few Batarangs) What gave that away?
Blaze: (As fire streams from the sides of her mouth) This ends here, Brainiac.
Brainiac: (As his mechanical tendrils extend from his back) As they say on Earth. "Bring it"
(And with that, the stage is set. Four against Eight for the fate of the Earth. And that's where our tale ends for today)
And that looks like a good spot to end for now. Yeah, a little bit shorter than usual, but there wasn't much that needed to be done. Next time will be back to standard length, I assure. Since next time, we've got a long awaited battle to get to. Or at least part of it. There's so much to cover in that battle it may take more than one chapter to do it justice. But we'll get to that when we get there. In the mean time, be sure to tune in next time to see the battle finally begin! Same time... same channel!
