Welcome back to The Injustice Wars. Last time, the battle began. As Doctor Fate confronted Superman and Batman, a miracle occurred. Superman seemingly realized the error of his ways and started striving to make amends in this battle. And he's off to a good start, considering he crushed the Helm of Fate between his bare hands, depriving Darkblood of one of his sorcerers. And Batman seemed to like that, despite having been Superman's enemy for years now. What's going on in his head? We'll come to that in time. As for now... the battle continues...
(The scene resumes just as we left it, with Brainiac, Enchantress, and Horror-Show trying to face down Blaze and her forces after Superman took out Doctor Fate. With the former servant of the Lords of Order out of the way, Superman joins Supergirl in facing down Brainiac while Batman teams with Black Diamond and Belial Aether against Horror-Show. And with one of their sorcerers taken out, the remaining villains aren't doing too well.)
Horror-Show: It seems Fate was our key to keeping the tide in our favor!
Enchantress: You think I haven't noticed that, ghoul?!
Horror-Show: Anybody got a plan B?
Brainiac: I have been running the probabilities and there's only one strategy that even results in a modicum of success for us.
Enchantress: Then quit with the stalling and execute it!
Brainiac: Very well. Then we must execute a tactical retreat.
Horror-Show: A what?!
Brainiac: You'll have to trust me.
Enchantress: I don't, but we really don't have much better to go with.
(And with that, Brainiac, Enchantress, and Horror-Show, in that order, flee the collection chamber, heading back in the direction of the bridge, immediately the heroes notice their foes are fleeing)
Supergirl: They're getting away!
Superman: Not on my watch!
(Superman is first off after them, with Supergirl following shortly behind him, soon joined by Batman, Belial Aether, Black Diamond, Spyro, and Cynder. Blaze is about to join them, when a familiar sense activates. Blaze looks at the Helm of Fate, now flattened, and sees a familiar white mist surrounding it. And that's when it hits her)
Blaze: "The Remains of Fate". How whatever gods run this world saw this coming, I have no idea.
(Knowing now that the destroyed Helm of Fate is one of the 13 objects she needs to restore Dragnarok, Blaze picks it up and secures it under her shield before catching up with the rest of the team, with only Batman and Black Diamond having noticed her absence)
Batman: What's with the hang back?
Blaze: Ask your first son. He gave me the reason.
Batman: (Puts it together) The Helm was one of the items?
Blaze: Exactly.
Batman: No idea how it'll do much flatter than a Parisian crepe, but I'm not one to doubt this magic stuff.
Black Diamond: Does anybody mind explaining to me what you're talking about?
Blaze: It's a really long story, Black Diamond, but suffice it to say, there's 13 items I need to gather to bring someone I love back from Darkblood. I'll explain further later.
Black Diamond: (Having already put all of it together) I think I've got it, but I'll gladly hear your story once all of this is over.
Blaze: Don't let me forget.
(At this point, the octet of heroes gets on roughly the same track as we see Brainiac, Enchantress, and Horror-Show run into the bridge, shutting the door before they can get in. Supergirl and Superman hit it first and start trying to break through it.)
Cynder: How long do you think it'll take to break this?
Supergirl: This alloy's pretty tough...
Superman: But we've got two Kryptonians beating at it, it won't last long.
Spyro: Maybe I can help.
Cynder: I think you mean we, Spyro.
(And with that, Spyro and Cynder start hitting the door with Aether and Dark Aether respectively, aiding in the Kryptonians' efforts to break the door apart. While they do that, a familiar sound can be heard)
Belial Aether: (Being first to spot them) Don't look now, but we've got company!
(And sure enough, Belial Aether is right, as hundreds of Brainiac's drones are encroaching on them, undoubtedly summoned by Brainiac to delay Blaze and her team while he executes whatever his plan is.)
Blaze: (Taking charge) We have to hold them off while they get this door down. HOLD THE LINE!
(Batman draws a trio of Batarangs, Belial Aether prepares a second shadow khopesh, Black Diamond charges his sword with energy, and Blaze lets the fire rip at the crowd of drones, which doesn't do much to them in and of itself, but combined with efforts from the others. While Black Diamond and Belial Aether fight, and between attacks of their own, Blaze takes a moment to approach Batman about what she saw)
Blaze: You know, Bruce. I couldn't help but notice a smile on you when Clark here resolved to clean up his mess.
Batman: (Secretly glad she picked up on that) Not really the time, Blaze.
Blaze: (Suddenly piecing together information from seven years of war) I think I finally understand the actions you took.
Batman: Talk to me about it once we survive this.
Belial Aether: (Not knowing the context for any of this) I think you mean if we survive this!
Black Diamond: We must survive this! If we fall, the Earth falls with us!
Blaze: You got that right, Black Diamond. Billions of lives are at stake at this very moment. We can't let them down! Stand up and fight for this world's life!
(And on that rallying cry from Blaze, the battle continues as our scene ends for today)
And that looks like a good spot to end for today. So, a lot just happened. For one, another object from Blaze's list can be marked off! After collecting that sample of Black Adam's lightning, that's two off the list in just this one day. Still a few mysteries on that list, but we'll get to them in time. But in the meantime, it looks like Blaze has figured something out about Batman. And I'm willing to bet you know exactly which question she can finally answer. It's one that was asked frequently early on but got subtly less important, if you need a hint. Well, guess what? Once this is over, it will finally be answered. But that's not for a bit yet. We've still got to finish off Brainiac. Next time, the battle continues. So be sure to tune in for that! Same time... same channel!
