Latios
Starting up with Latios, a legendary pokemon from the Hoenn region. This pokemon is part of a duo, with its partner being Latias, but we won't focus on her. Latios is a dragon and psychic type pokemon. Which gives it some powerful abilities. As well as has the ability to turn itself invisible, disguise itself with illusions and can read minds. It is also known to be a very intelligent pokemon and will only be with a trainer who has a compassionate spirit.
Attack Potency
Being a legendary pokemon means that Latios is much more powerful than most non legendaries. Not many pokemon, outside of the legendaries can keep up with it. Latios can use powerful dragon type moves like, Dragon Breath, Dragon Pulse, and Draco Meteor. It can even boost itself with Dragon Dance, which increases its power and speed.
On its psychic side, it has many diverse moves. Moves like, Psychic to attack an opponent's mind or to move things with their mind. Zen Headbutt, to headbutt them with psychic energy. And Latios own signature move, Luster Purge. Which is a beam of light that can lower the special defense of an opponent, to do more damage later.
It also has plenty of moves that aren't attacks but can help it greatly. Moves like Recover can heal its wounds and keep it in the fight longer. Power Split, which evens out the attack power of both it and its opponent. And Tailwind, which can double its speed for a short time.
Feats
—Being a legendary means it should be around the same level as other legendaries of its rank. Examples are the Kanto birds, the Tapus, the Regis and so on.
—Legendaries like Latios, are above pseudo legendary pokemon. Pseudos like Tyranitar destroy entire mountains to make their nest, causing people to redraw maps. Salamences and Hydreigons can burn down everything in their path in its rage.
Durability
Latios being the legendary it is, is not only strong but tough as well. While it's mainly an attacker, lesser pokemon have taken beats of all kinds. Like being blasted with element attacks, like fire, water, grass, etc.
Being hit by powerful fully evolved pokemon, who can be pokemon like Tyranitar. Or other legendaries pokemon of its status. Like Articuno that can create entire blizzards that can blow people away high into the sky just by flipping its wings.
Feats
—Can take hits from powerful fully evolved pokemon and other legendaries.
—While it is mainly offensive, it is far from a fragile pokemon.
Speed
While all of this is impressive, it is not the strong point of Latios. No, its strong point is its speed. It has been stated many times in the pokedex to be faster than a jet plane. The average speed of a jet plane is around 610 mph. And Latios is much faster than that. Likely able to outspeed pokemon like Garchomp, who can fly faster than a jet fighter plane. Makes this a hard target to keep up with and adding in its invisibility it's not going to be an easy target to hit.
Feats
—Is faster than a jet plane.
—Can keep up and surpass other fast pokemon, like Garchomp.
Forms
Well having all this power and speed makes Latios a powerful legendary that not many non legendary pokemon can keep up. It has one more trick up its sleeves.
Mega evolution.
Latios is one of the few pokemon that can mega evolve. Mega evolution is when a pokemon takes on a higher form that greatly increases their power. And Latios is no exception.
Mega Latios increases all of Latios physical and mental capabilities. With its offensive power gaining the most from the transformation. While Mega evolution usually requires a strong bond with a trainer there have been pokemon who can use Mega evolution without the need of a trainer. And Latios is one of those pokemons. Making this pokemon that much more powerful.
Weaknesses
While Latios is powerful, it is far from invincible and like all pokemon has element weakness that can be exploited. And its mega evolution only lasts till the battle is over.
—Is weak to dragon, ice, bug, ghost, dark, and fairy type attacks.
—Its mega form is a temporary transformation.
Valstrax
Valstrax is a powerful elder dragon in the monster hunter world. It's an interesting dragon that not many hunters can find. Mainly because it's flying high in the atmosphere and rarely comes down. Being an elder dragon it's on top of the food chain, monsters like Rathalos are nothing more than prey for these mighty elder dragons.
Attack potency
Being an elder dragon, Valstrax has great physical strength. As well has having a rare powerful element in the monster hunter world. The dragon element. The dragon element is often used in a form of red energy. Mainly in the use of beams or red lighting. The dragon element is not only powerful but can inflict a status ailment called dragonblight.
Dragonblight happens when someone is hit with too much dragon energy and what this ailment does is remove or suppress elements of hunters and monsters. For an example it could in theory make a Teostra be unable to use its fire element. Thanks to this the dragon element is sometimes called the anti-element, making it the strongest element in the monster hunter world. It is also stated that this element can attack the opponent's mind, as the smarter they are, the more effective this element is on them.
And Valstrax uses this element as not just a form of attack, but a form of travel too. As its wings expel this element as fuel for its flight. It can also use its wings to fire balls of dragon energy or even use its wing to charge up a giant beam of it.
Even without this element it is far from helpless. As Valstrax has great physical strength and can weaponize its wings as giant blades. But folding them or stretching them, it can use them to stab or cut its enemies apart.
Feats
—Can use one of the strongest elements in its world.
—Can fight with other elder dragons like Chameleos, Kushala Daora, and Teostra.
Durability
Being a monster from the monster hunter world, Valstrax can take all kinds of beatings. And with it being an elder dragon, this just makes it even more tougher than most monsters in its world. Its tough body is so strong, that it can come crashing down on its enemies at supersonic speeds without taking any damage.
It, like all monsters in monster hunter fights, can keeps fighting even when its parts are broken and if its tail is severed. And with its elder dragon status, it can take hits from other elder dragons, it can even take hits from high elder dragons like Amatsu.

Speed
But of course, this is not what the Valstarx is really known for. What it's really known for is its speed. After all, it wasn't called the Red Comet for no reason. Valstarx files so fast that people for a long time mistaken them as literal comets.
It's so fast that many people say that Valstrax is one of, if not the fastest monster in the monster hunter world. As it travels around the world at supersonic speeds.

—Is say to be the fastest monster in the monster hunter world.
Forms
But we aren't done yet as this elder dragon has not one but two forms that it can turn into. The Crimson Glow Valstrax and the Risen Crimson Glow Valstrax. Now calling these forms isn't too accurate. As these are forms that Valstrax can't access on its own.
Crimson Glow Valstrax is achieved when a Vlastrax has undergone a mutant, likely with its dragon sack being damaged, which is the organ that lets Vlastrax use the dragon element in the first place. Which makes the Crimson Glow Valstrax very aggressive because of it being in constant pain by its own element. Which, unlike its normal counterpart, is constantly leaking dragon element making it even more powerful and dangerous than a normal Valstrax.
And the Risen Crimson Glow Valstrax is when a Crimson Glow Valstrax is gets infected by the quiro. The quiro are parasites that feed on a monster's life energy. But, elder dragons can overcome them and become even stronger. Which is exactly what the Risen Crimson Glow Valstrax is.
Being even more powerful than before, the Risen Crimson Glow Valstrax can enter a risen state. Which is when their power is at its peak.
Weaknesses
While the Valstrax is truly a monster of great power and speed to make even the most brave and strong hunter fear its power. It has a lot of weaknesses. In fact it has the most elemental weakness of any other elder dragon. Which is weird as it is also immune to the dragon element itself.
And while its use of the dragon element is its most powerful weapon. It can also be its greatest weakness. As it uses the dragon element with an organ that is in its chest. It sucks up air from the vents on its chest before using the dragon element to fly. Which means during this process if you do enough damage to its chest, you can cause the dragon element to literally explode in its chest. Which of course causes great amounts of damage and leaves it vulnerable to more attacks.
And while in its risen state it too can be knocked out of it with enough damage and be left vulnerable to more attacks.
—Is weak to fire, water, lighting, and ice.
—Enough damage to its chest can cause its chest to explode with dragon element doing a lot of damage.
—While its rising state makes it stronger, if it takes enough damage, it will be knocked out of it.
Ok let's start this death battle!
High in the sky above the clouds were tall pillars of stone that reached the havens. On the highest of these stone pillars was a large dragon that had just caught its prey. The Valstrax roared in victory at its captured prey, before it could take a bite, his prey suddenly glow blue and by some unseen force was thrown off the pillar.
Valstrax was of course very confused by this, as he watched his meal fall.
"Latios!"
A sudden cry made Valstrax turn its attention to the source of the sound. What it saw was a much smaller blue dragon. Latios had seen what Valstrax had done to the small monster and tried to save it from death. But by the time Latios reached Valstrax the prey had been killed by the sheer speed at which it was forced to travel in Valstrax claws. But Latios figured that the least he could do was save its body from being eaten.
Valstrax was of course not happy that this small dragon cost him a meal. Now this small blue dragon was going to be his meal. With a roar Valstrax challenged this small blue dragon.
Latios replies to Valstrax with a roar of its own. He wasn't scared of this oversized dragon. He was going to teach it a lesson.
Fight!
Valstrax charged at the Latios on foot and tried a claw attack. Latios however had no problems dodging it, and fired a Dragon Breath at its face. The Dragon Breath hit, but Valstrax had not even flinched from the attack and before Latios could do anything, Valstrax attacked with another claw attack, hitting his target.
Latios was knocked away, before catching himself with his flight. Latios just barely dodged another attack, this time it was an extended wing tip that grazed his cheek. Latios could feel blood leaking from the attack that had just barely missed him.
Deciding that he needed some distance, he took off flying away from Valstrax at great speeds. Valstrax however wasn't just going to let Latios fly away. Getting ready, Valstrax's chest sucked in air, before his wings exploded with red dragon energy, going after Latios.
Latios turned to see the Valstrax coming at him and pushed his speed harder. Latios was now making some distances away from Valstrax, while Valstrax was starting to lack behind. Seeing that Latios now had made some good distance away from Valstrax, he fired a Dragon Pulse. A huge dragon made of energy came at Valstrax with great speed. Valstrax's eyes were wide open, and he tried to stop his flight or try to turn in a different direction. But it was too late.
The Dragon Pulse hit Valstrax creating a big explosion and a giant dust cloud that covered Valstrax. Latios stopped a bit away from the dust cloud, but he could still hear the sounds of Valstrax's wings creating dragon energy to keep it up in the air. When the dust cloud blew away, Latios and Valstrax were both surprised by the outcome of the attack.
Valstrax was completely unharmed. Not a scratch or mark on his body, it was like the attack didn't even hit at all! Valstrax was the first to get over his shock and flew at Latios at full speed. Latios wasn't able to get off his shock in time and was hit by Valstrax's head coming at him at supersonic speeds at his chest.
Latios felt like he was hit by a bullet train, only many times worse. Latios coughed out blood and for a moment all the air in his lungs left him. He was still being carried by Valstrax's head. With as much power as he could gather at that moment, he fired a Luster Purge at the top of Valstrax head. And for once Valstrax felt the attack.
Valstrax let out a roar of pain and slowed down its flight speed, which was enough for Latios to get away from Valstrax. Now free from Valstrax, Latios flew away from Valstrax again. Valstrax wasn't going to stop though. Valstrax went after Latios, Latios turned its head and fired another Luster Purge hitting Valstrax again.
Valstrax felt pain, but didn't stop flying and kept going after Latios. Latios fired another Luster Purge, but this time Valstrax was able to dodge it, now that it knew what to expect. Valstrax also seemed to decide that it was time for Latios to have a taste of its own medicine. Quickly turning its wings forward, it fired a barrage of dragon energy balls at him.
While Latios was surprised by this, he was still able to dodge the barrage with his great speed and smaller size. Latios's eyes glowed blue and all of a sudden Valstrax was frozen in mid air. Valsrax was of course very confused by this, but wasn't given a chance to figure it out, as he was suddenly thrown with a great amount of force and slammed into the side of one of the giant stone pillars. The force was so great that the stone pillar broke in two, as Valsrax came out of the other end of it.
Letting go of the psychic hold, Latios had on Valstrax. He decided to use this opportunity to power himself up. Focusing Latios used Dragon Dance to increase his physical attack as well as his speed. Just as he was done with Dragon Dance, Latios saw Valsrax coming at him. Rather than fly away again, Latios flew at Valstrax at an even greater speed than before. As Latios flew, he became covered in a bright blue light that formed on his forehead.
The two clashed heads, literally. Both Latios and Valstrax tried to overpower each other and in the end, it was Valstrax who came on top. Latios was sent flying back at the speed of sound as he failed the headbutt clash. Valstrax flew past Latios as Latios was now doing flips in the air, struggling to gain control of his flight.
After flipping around for the tenth time, Latios was finally able to regain control of his flight. Latios screamed in pain, as he felt pain on his head. Blood was now leaking from it, and a good amount of it too. Latios had thought that his Zen Headbutt would be enough, when it was powered up with Dragon Dance.
But clearly he was wrong, he felt like his skull cracked a little. And if it wasn't for that Dragon Dance earlier, that made the Zen Headbut stronger than Latios might have had his skull crushed from that collision. Deciding that he couldn't go on like this, Latios used Recover. His body glowed white and he could feel his wounds healing, including his injured skull.
Meanwhile with Valstrax, while he had won the clash, Valstrax still felt his head hurt from Latios's Zen Headbutt, as he shook his head to try and get rid of some of the pain. But compared to the damage he had received, compared to Latios, it was nothing.
Valstrax slowed down his flight speed and turned to see Latios glowing white. When the glow died down, Valstrax could see that Latios was back to how it was before this fight had started, with no injuries to speak of. Valstrax didn't understand it, but he didn't care, this small dragon was going to die here.
Valstrax flew at Latios again with the intent to kill Latios with its jaws. But it was stopped again by Psychic. Latios with a roar of power, began to throw Valstrax into every stone pillar he could find. Valstrax slammed into the pillars with great force with all of them breaking in half with how big Valstrax was and the amount of force behind it. Valstrax was slammed into one more pillar with less force this time. Causing it not to break it, but enough to have it stuck to it. Latios flew in front of Valstrax a good distance away before firing a Luster Purge. This time the Luster Purge hit an important spot on Valstrax.
His chest.
Valstrax let out a roar of pain, as the beam of light hit directly at his chest, causing it great pain. Valstrax was pushed through the stone pillar it was stuck on but the attack, and started falling, as well as being covered in a blue aura. Not like when Latios used Psychic on him, but Valstrax could feel that something had happened to his body. Valstrax tried to get his control of flight back by sucking in air through his chest, but Latios was already chasing after him and fired another Luster Purge hitting his chest again.
This time a great explosion of dragon energy came from Valstrax's chest causing him even more pain than before as the Luster Purge from before had weakened Valstrax defense making so that this Luster Purge would do even more damage. Latios was also surprised by the explosion as he didn't mean to hit Valstrax's chest with either of the Luster Purges, but he was glad that he did now that he saw how effective it was.
Valstrax crashed into the water below with a great splash. Latios flew down to see where Valstrax had crashed and hovered over the sea below him. Down in the sea, Valstrax was in great pain. But more than anything, he was angry. No he was pissed off!
How dare, this tiny dragon attack him like that. How dare this tiny dragon robbed him of his meal from earlier. HOW DARE THIS TINY DRAGON CHALLENGE AN ELDER DRAGON LIKE HIMSELF!
IT WAS GOING TO PAY!
Valstrax has been enraged.
Latios looked over the sea, before suddenly a red comet burst from it.
It was Valstrax. But Latios could tell that Valstrax was very angry with him. As red dragon energy came out of Valstrax's wing in great amounts. Latios was barely able to dodge the charged from the enraged Valstrax. But Valstrax was quickly able to make a u-turn and charge again.
But just like last time Latios was able to dodge it just barely as he felt the tiny gaze of dragon energy coming from Valstrax. Valstrax decided that it wasn't going anywhere with charging at Latios and decided to do something different.
Valstrax flew straight high into the air. Valstrax was above the clouds, before it suddenly stopped its wings from producing dragon energy and let himself fall. Valstrax straightened himself so that he would be facing the ground. Turning its wings tips so the face forward, Valstrax fired as many barrages of dragon energy he could, as well using his wings to move side to side while he shot to spread it out.
Down below the clouds Latios could now see red dots falling from the sky. Latios's eyes widened as it saw the rain of dragon energy. Latios with his great speed was able to dodge the rain of dragon energy and any balls of dragon energy that came close to hitting him, he fired an Luster Purge to destroy them.
As the rain finally stopped, Latios breathed a sigh of relief. But unknown to him Valstrax was falling down right behind him. As Valstrax saw Latios he started to charge a big attack with his wings. Valstrax had to wait for the right moment to fire his big attack. And after a few more seconds he saw the moment.
Valstrax fired a giant beam of dragon energy at Latios's back. Latios had just breathed a sigh of relief when it heard something behind it. Turning around it saw the giant red beam and it was too late to dodge it.
Latios screamed in pain as the beam engulfed him, even though it was for a few seconds. Latios was in great pain and struggled to maintain his flight. Latios had burn marks on his body and some red lighting seems to cover his body too. Not only did the attack hurt his body, but it felt like his mind had been attacked too. Even his ability to keep himself levitate seemed harder to maintain.
Valstrax wasn't kind enough to give Latios time to recover and swipe a claw attack at him from above, sending Latios crashing down, as Latios fell toward the water below. Valstrax fired a barrage of dragon energy. As Latios struggled to regain its flight it fired a Luster Purge. But to his surprise the Luster Purge came out very small compared to how normally it was. And was completely useless in trying to stop the balls of dragon energy coming at him. The barrage of dragon energy hit him repeatedly. Hurting him even more both in body and mind. With that Latios wasn't able to maintain his flight anymore and crash down into the water.
As Latios was in water he quickly swam up for air. Seeing how injured he was, he tried to use Recover only for it not to work. Latios's eyes were wide as he couldn't use his Recover. In fact something seems wrong with his body. He tried to levitate only for it to get him up a few feet above the water. How was this happening? He thought. Then he looked at his body closer and saw the red lighting flashing over his body. That must have been the cause of it.
Latios has been inflicted with dragonblight.
Latios heard Valstrax and turned just in time for Valstrax to grab him in his claws. Latios let out a pain scream as he could feel the huge claws tearing into his flesh. Latios tried to fire a Luster Purge, but all he got was the faint light of the attack before it disappeared as red light crackled around his body.
Valstrax had taken Latios to a nearby island and suddenly threw Latios into a rocky cliff creating a huge crater in it. Valstrax landed on a huge rock nearby and charged up another beam attack. Latios tried his best to escape but even just levitating was a chore. He even tried to form an attack, but the dragonblight stopped it from happening.
Valstrax fired his fully charged beam of dragon energy at the helpless Latios and all Latios could do was watch the beam approaching in horror. Latios's screams couldn't even be heard by the sound of the explosion of the beam. The beam had completely destroyed the cliff reducing it to rubble.
Valstrax roared in victory, he had proved who the superior dragon was. Valstrax turned away from the rubble and was about to fly away, when a sudden bright light came from the rubble. Turning to face it he could see a great amount of light coming from below the rubble, before suddenly the rubble exploded. The shock wave that came from it was enough to push back Valstrax and make him want to close his eyes.
When he opened them, what he saw was surprising to say the least.
It was Latios, but he had changed, he was now purple and his arms seemed to fuse with his wings. Latios has mega evolved.
Latios's body glowed white as he used Recover. The sudden energy and power spike from mega evolving was enough to power through the dragonblight and cure him. Now with his injuries gone, Latios was ready for round two.
Despite this form change Valstrax wasn't not intimidated, he had beaten this dragon before he could do it again. Valstrax's chest sucked up air and he flew at Latios with a sharp wingtip ready to stab Latios at the speed of sound. But before the wingtip could stab Latios it and Valstrax were covered in a blue glow.
Latios, with the use of Psychic, threw Valstrax away with force that was ten times the amount it had received before. Valstrax crashed straight through a big mountain and was now falling. Valstrax roared in pain as it felt his back brake from the attack. But its pain was far from over. Latios, with such great speed, appeared to almost teleport behind the falling Valstrax and fired a Luster Purge. The Luster Purge was almost as big as Valstrax and now it was Valstrax's turn to be hit by a huge beam.
Valstrax was now being sent up into the air by the Luster Purge as it burned his back, before the attack exploded and Valstrax was now falling again. But Latios wasn't done, as even when falling Latios fired another Luster Purge. This time hitting an important spot that Latios wanted to hit.
The chest.
Valstrax roared in more pain as the giant Luster Purge hit his chest directly and also pushed him back, further away before again exploding into Valstrax's chest. Valstrax was finally given a second of mercy as it landed head first into the ground.
Valstrax took a moment to get his bearings as he tried to understand what was happening. He had seemed to have won earlier, but now that the smaller dragon had changed. The fight was going one sided.
No Valstrax refused to let this happen. He was the king of the skies and this small dragon was going to learn that.
Valstrax has become enraged again.
Valstrax flew up into the air and saw that Latios had been waiting for him. Well he wasn't going to keep the dragon waiting any longer. Valstrax flew as fast as he could at Latios with his jaws wide open.
But Latios practically vanished, before he could reach him. And before Valstrax could react, something slammed into his back and Valstrax was sure something broke in his back. Valstrax was sent back into the ground again as Latios had hit Valstrax with a Zen Headbutt into Valstrax's back.
Despite crashing into the ground again, Valstrax fought through the pain and was back into the air again and tried to hit Latios with a headbutt. But Latios of course had no problems dodging it. Valstrax took a long turn to build up speed and came at Latios again with a headbutt.
Latios rolled his eyes and met Valstrax with a Zen Headbutt and the two of them were in a headbutt clash just like before. However, unlike before Latios was the clear winner. Valstrax had not even lasted a second in the headbutting clash. And now it was Valstrax doing flips in the air as he struggled to regain control of his flight now.
As Valstrax tried to regain control, he was again covered by the Psychic attack and slammed into the ground again for a third time. Valstrax got up and started to stuck up air again through its chest. Little did he know that was exactly what Latios wanted.
Latios landed in front of Valstrax albeit a good distance away, and fired a smaller but more precise Luster Purge at Valstrax chest. The beam, while smaller, was still powerful enough to push Valstrax far away, and just like last time, the dragon energy in his chest exploded from the attack, which caused the Luster Purge attack to also explode.
Valstrax distance screams were drowned out by what were two big explosions happening at the same time. The explosion was big enough that it could be seen from miles away. As Latios looked in the distance he started to make his way from it, believing that he had won.
With Valstrax, he was wounded more so than he even was before. His body was covered in burns and his shiny scales were in ruin. But the worst of it all was his chest. His chest was damaged beyond repair. Despite all this Valstrax was still alive.
This wasn't how it was supposed to go, as Valstrax looked in the distance it could make out the purple shade of Latios, slowly flying away.
No this wasn't over! Valstrax though.
Valstrax through sheer will got up, and started to suck up air into his chest. However the moment he did so, his whole body was suddenly in pain. His chest hurt the most as it glowed red with dragon energy. But it wasn't just his chest that was glowing red now either, his whole body glowed red with dragon energy, making it look like red veins covered his body. The pain was unbearable, as an uncontrollable amount of dragon energy leaked from his body. Despite all the pain Valstrax was just as determined to finish this fight.
Valstrax has become Crimson Glow Valstrax.
Valstrax with new found dragon energy flew at Latios at an even faster speed than ever before, with the amount of dragon energy coming out of his wings. Latios heard Valstrax approach and, despite the massive increase of speed from Valstrax, Latios was still able to dodge it with minimum effort, however the stream of dragon energy that was coming out of Valstrax's wings was able to slight graze his skin, which caused Latios to flinch slightly. Latios looked to see that Valstrax had flown higher, before making a u-turn back to Latios. Valstrax then quickly turned his wings facing Latios and fired balls of dragon energy at a machine gun rate. Despite this, Latios still proved to be the better flyer and was able to dodge the barrage.
Latios fired a Luster Purge, which hit head on, despite clearly taking damage from it, Valstrax didn't slow down in his attempt to reach Latios. Just as Valstrax was about to reach Latios, Latios flew to the side avoiding the charge.
But Valstrax proved to be quite smart, as just before his body passed Latios, Valstrax quickly made his wing tips face Latios as he avoided the charge. Valstrax's wings released a sudden burst of dragon energy. The dragon energy came out like a big red cloud, which was still powerful enough to hurt Latios as it felt like the cloud was burning him alive.
As Latios quickly flew out of the cloud, and started coughing as Latios had inhaled some of it. But this gave Valstrax the opportunity to finally catch Latios. As while Latios was trying to cough out the dragon energy in his throat. Valstrax immediately took the chance to catch Latios in his big jaws.
"LLLLAAATTIIOOSS!"
Latios cried in pain as he felt the powerful jaws and teeth sinking into his skin trying to bite him in half. Latios could feel the teeth sinking into his flesh. Latios fired a Luster Purge right at Valstrax face. Despite taking a point blank shot to the face, Valstrax didn't lose his grip, in fact if anything, Valstrax bit down even harder and Latios could feel his bones cracking.
Latios's eyes suddenly glow with power and all of a sudden Valstrax was covered by the Psychic attack just like before. Using a great amount of psychic energy, Latios opened Valstrax's jaws wide enough to escape them.
Latios's body had many small holes in them from the teeth that were threatening to bite him in half as blood flew out of them at a fast rate. Latios with a pure scream of rage used Psychic to slam Valstrax down into the ground hard.
Valstrax came into the ground like a meteor, but Latios still had a psychic hold on Valstrax. Valstrax was flung into the ground violently, before being dragged through the ground several times the speed of sound.
Latios followed Valstrax, as he used Psychic on Valstrax, making him go through the earth at an insane speed. Sometimes Latios would pull Valstrax out of the ground, only for him to slam Valstrax back into it or make sure Valstrax would crash into a cliff or through a mountain when he got the chance too. Finally after a minute of having Valstrax be dragged around the earth. Latios pulled Valstrax out of the ground and high into the air, before letting go of his psychic hold.
And firing a big Luster Purge, right into Valstrax chest. Valstrax would cry in pain if it could, but after being dragged around so fast, Valstrax wasn't even sure what was going on anymore. Only that it was now being pushed back down to the ground by a big beam of light, which hit his chest. Valstrax landed back first into a rocky cliff, destroying it.
Valstrax was dazed and confused, and every part of his body hurt alot. Even with all the willpower in the world, Valstrax was just barely able to stand up again. As he stood up, he could barely see the purple dragon that was high into the air above him. Valstrax rage returned to him, but he wasn't going to take a chance in the air again after that.
Valstrax made both of his wings face forward and started charging up a big beam at Latios. Latios who was using Recover while Valstrax was down, stared down the weakened dragon with a scowl and charged up a Luster Purge, after seconds later the two fired their attacks.
The beams clashed, one red and one yellow. At first it seemed like they were evenly matched. But the yellow beam was pushing through the red one. Valstrax pumped up more dragon energy in hopes of overpowering Latios beam. Despite that the beam was still pushing through his beam and within a few seconds Latios's Luster Purge won the clash.
Valstrax screams were drowned out by the explosion and Latios had to close his eyes from how big the explosion was. When it was over and the dust cloud blew away. Latios saw Valstrax on the scorching ground unmoving.
Let out a sign, Latios turned his back against the down Valstrax, thinking this time he had won.
As Latios slowly flew away from Valstrax again, Valstrax was barely conscious. How could this happen, he thought. Even with the increase of power and speed from becoming a Crimson Glow Valstrax, he was still no match for this small dragon.
As Valstrax lay there, a small group of parasites were flying around it. The quiro bit into Valstrax, as they bit into him, he could feel his body changing again. Valstrax opened his eyes as the quiro kept biting him as they continued their biting. Valstrax was slowly getting up and Valstrax could feel his body being filled with a new type of energy.
Valstrax with one final roar suddenly exploded.
Latios who had heard the roar turned around to see the explosion. A second later a familiar red comet was now high in the air. It was of course Valstrax. But just like before something had changed within him.
He now was slightly glowing orange, as well as some of his spikes seem to be glowing with some strange energy. He was now Risen Crimson Glow Valstrax.
He looked at Latios with a look of pure hate. While Latios just looked back with a look of determination. They both could tell this is where it ends now. This was the climbmax.
With a roar both of them charged at each other. Just before they could collide Latios flew over Valstrax and fired a Luster Purge at Valstrax back. The attack hit, but Valstrax ignored the damage he had taken and turned to face Latios. And quickly turned its wings tips forward and fired a barrage of dragon energy like it did so many times before. The balls of dragon energy flew like missiles and were more than double their original size.
Latios's eyes widened a bit at how fast and big they were now, but Latios was able to avoid them with his greater speed. Just as he was done dodging them, an extended wing tip tried to stab him and he wasn't able to dodge it completely as it managed to slightly hit his under belly, leaving a red slash mark on it.
But Latios wasn't going to let himself be overwhelmed by Valstrax and quickly used Psychic on him. Once again Valstrax found himself frozen mid air and being pushed away. As Valstrax was being pushed away, his wings fired off more dragon energy to fight back against the psychic hold that was pushing him away. And for once he seems to be breaking through this psychic hold. As now he wasn't no longer being pushed away and was starting to move closer to Latios.
Latios was visibly struggling at keeping Valstrax away with Psychic. Deciding that he wasn't going to be able to hold Valstrax off for long, he released his Psychic hold and quickly moved out of the way from a speeding Valstrax.
Valstrax flew up higher into the air and fired another barrage of dragon energy at Latios. Who while was able to dodge most of them, was actually hit by a few of them this time. Causing Latios pain, but he fought through it. As Valstrax was close to reaching Latios, Valstrax opened his jaws wide for a bite attack, Latios moved out of the way of the bite attack, but this proved to be a feint, by Valstrax.
As quickly as possible Valstrax, just like before, turned his wings to a different direction. Rather than have his wings face Latios, Valstrax actually turned them away from Latios and fired a quick burst of dragon energy launching Valstrax huge body into Latios.
Latios, clearly not expecting this, wasn't able to react to having a giant dragon ram into him. The attack was enough to stunned Latios for a second. Which was all that Valstrax needed. As it turned its wings facing Latios and fired another barrage of dragon energy. And this time Latios was hit by its full might.
Latios felt like his mind and body were on fire now. But it wasn't given a chance to recover as Valstrax flew into Latios with a head butt. Latios was once again being carried by Valstrax head again just like earlier in the fight. Latios fired a Luster Purge, but it came out weakened and Valstrax didn't even flinch from the attack.
Deciding that he needed to try something else quickly, Latios dug through his mind trying to think of a way of this, when suddenly his eyes widened. Looking at Valstrax, Latios fired again, not a Luster Purge this time but an orb of psychic energy. When it hit Valstrax visibly reacted this time and even groaned as the orb went back into Latios.
Latios had just used Power Split. This move would even out the two physical strengths. Which was enough for Latios to be now physically strong enough to escape being carried by Valstrax superior physical strength, which was now weakened.
Escaping by going over Valstrax, Latios turned to see that Valstrax hadn't turned around to chase him yet. Letting out an exhausted breath, Latios took this opportunity to use Recover. The move started and was healing his injuries, but as it was happening, Latios noticed that it was taking longer to heal.
Latios flinched in pain as red lighting appeared around Latios just like last time. Latios was inflicted with dragonblight again. Pushing through the pain Latios kept up Recover for a few seconds later before stopping it. His wounds were better now, but nowhere fully healed like last time.
Latios heard Valstrax coming and was able to dodge the dragon energy barrage again, before firing a Luster Purge at the coming Valstrax. The Luster Purge came out weakened. While it seemed like the dragonblight was less effective on Latios, now that he was in his mega form. But it still clearly had weakened his abilities.
The Luster Purge hit Valstrax, but it might as well haven't as the attack was now too weak to do any real serious damage now. Latios tried to fly away, but the dragonblight had also weakened his levitation. And the dragon element seemed to be affecting his mind, as it felt like his mind was on fire, making it ever more difficult to concentrate. Latios was slammed down into the ground by Valstrax full speed headbutt. Latios coughed out blood as he hit the ground. Valstrax quickly got off of Latios and went into the air, before firing a barrage of dragon energy. Latios screamed in pain as he felt his mind and body burn.
While Latios was on the ground in pain, Valstrax flew high into the air disappearing like a red comet. As Latios was struggling to get up and the pain the dragon element was causing him. He heard a boom in the skies and looked up to see a rain of dragon energy coming down on him. Latios wasn't able to escape it in time with both its mind and body hurting like it did. As well as the dragonblight that was making it harder to levitate. The best that he could do was fire a Luster Purge in an attempt to destroy some of the dragon rain. But the attack came out in a very small and thin line, that did nothing to the attack.
Latios was hit by the full force of the rain, with his screams drowned out by the explosions. When it was over Latios was burned from head to bottom and one of his eyes seemed to melt. Just as Latios thought it was over, he heard something coming and looked up just in time for Valstrax to come crashing down like the red comet he was.
After the crash all went quiet. All there was now was a giant crater. Suddenly a figure got out of the crater. It was Valstrax, Valstrax was breathing heavily, before turning to face the crater. Looking inside, he saw Latios, or rather what was left of Latios.
Latios's body was crushed to a bloody pulp and was burned all over. What remained of Latios's body was just a bloody mess of crushed bones and blood.
Valstrax looked at Latios for a moment longer before roaring into the heavens. It had won.
KO!
Well, it looks like Valstrax is the king of the skies now.
Let's start with the results. First let's start with one of the most important factors in this fight, speed.
Some of you may or may not be surprised, but the winner is Latios when it comes to speed. While Valstrax can reach supersonic speeds, making it one of the fastest monsters in its world. That speed is honestly not that impressive by pokemon standards.
Pokemon like Pidgeot fly at mach 2 speeds, some around 1500 mph. Garchomp can fly faster than a jet fighter plane, so anywhere from 1900 mph to 2400 mph. And Dragapults can fire their babies at supersonic speeds. So given Latios status as a legendary pokemon that makes it faster than most normal pokemon, including the pokemon mentioned above. Latios should be much faster than all of them.
If we are going to be generous here, let's just say for the sake of argument that Valstrax can fly at the maximum speed of supersonic. Which is mach 5, so around 3800 mph. So a little more than double the speed of a Pidegot. But Latios should be several times faster than a Pidgeot, a Garchomp and a Dragapult.
Which is believable as we have pokemon like Rayquaza and Deoxys who can reach escape velocity no problem at all. Putting them at least mach 33 or 25000 mph. Which is way faster than anything in the monster hunter world. Now I'm not saying Latios is capable of this type of speed, but even an ultra beast like Celesteela is capable of reaching escape velocity.
And Latios has several moves like Dragon Dance and Tailwind to increase its speed even if it was slower. And of course mega evolution to increase all of its power by a huge amount. Even if we account for Valstrax other forms. With Latios being naturally faster, having moves to boost its speed and having a full blown transformation. It's very unlikely that even Risen Crimson Glow Valstrax in its risen state could keep up with Latios in speed.
So Latios was faster, unfortunately for anyone who likes Latios, that's really the only physical category that Latios was better than Valstrax. Valstrax was stronger and tougher. And possibly had more blasting power than Latios in its most powerful form. Valstrax could definitely take more of a beating than Latios. While Latios does have Recover to help keep it in the fight longer, Valstrax was likely going to outlast Latios, given its greater power and durability.
But let's talk about the real reason Valstrax wins against Latios. Its the dragon element.
The dragon element would not only be super effective on Latios, given that Latios is weak to dragon. But it would also be stronger on Latios, as the dragon element is stronger the smarter its opponent is. And given that Latios is a smart pokemon by the pokedex, which means that the dragon element was just going to be that more effective on Latios, doing more damage to not only its body but its mind as well.
And if it was hit enough times by the dragon element it will get the dragonblight which suppresses or removes a being's ability to use elements. Which for pokemon is basically a death sentence in a fight. Now while the dragonblight is a temporary ailment, that would go away after some time. And given that Latios is much faster than Valstrax, Latios could avoid getting the dragonblight for a while. Hell its mega form, might even give it the sudden energy boost to overcome it. At least once.
But with how durable Valstrax is and how almost all of its attacks use the dragon element, Latios was going to get the dragonblight at least once or twice during this fight. Plus Valstrax itself is immune to the dragon element at least to some extent. Which makes one of Latios main elements useless against Valstrax, forcing it to use its psychic and other element attacks. Which surprising Latios isn't that diverse in what types of elements it can use outside of the moves it can naturally learn. So really it was stuck using psychic type attacks, which while powerful aren't effective on Valstrax. Which means Latios couldn't expose any of Valstrax weaknesses. Meanwhile Valstrax could expose Latios weaknesses.
Ok and what about forms some of you may be asking.
Well it should be stated that Latios mega form is a much greater boost in power than Valstrax crimson glow or risen form. And unlike Valstrax, Latios mega form wouldn't go away after taking a big amount of damage and leave it vulnerable. In fact its mega form would probably make it stronger than Valstrax in all states except durability.
Sadly for Latios, it was still weak to the dragon element, and could still get the dragonblight again even if its mega form could get it out of that state. Honestly, if it wasn't for the dragon element and Latios being unable to use its own dragon type attacks on it, then it would have won. And to give it some credit, it wasn't completely helpless against Valstrax and if we did this fight several times, Latios would get a win somewhere. But the odds were just too much in Valstrax favor.
The winner is Valstrax.

+ Its opponent couldn't expose its weaknesses.
+ Dragonblight could guarantee victory.
+ Was immune to one of its opponent's main elements.

— Its risen form was less of a power increase than its opponent's form and could be knocked out of it.
Loser: Latios
+ Was much faster.
+ Its moves could make it stronger and faster.
+ Its mega form was a greater form and could help it clutch the win.
— Was much less durable
— Was weak to the dragon element.
— Dragon element could attack its mind.
— Dragonblight would make it unable to use its moves.
— Its own dragon type attacks were useless.
And that is the battle! Hope I did well with the first battle that had an elder dragon and a legendary pokemon in it.
Now on to the reviews.
Sammy-1000: While I do agree that when going up to the highest power of each franchise, Pokemon will stomp out the big guys of monster hunter, I still believe that battles between the two franchises can be interesting. It also helps that some pokemon and monsters are very alike to each other. Like Chairzard and Rathalos or Infernape and Rajang. I'm sure some people were wondering what a fight between them could be like.
