Here's the Second Chapter, I hope you enjoy it!
U.A. High
Neo wears U.A. High's standard uniform for girls and her heteroromantic eyes were wandering around before walking her way through a large and spacious hallway. From what she knows, her classroom is Class 1-A and it didn't take her very long to feel intimidated by the door's overall size.
With a deep breath, she grabbed the handle and slid the door open. That's when she met her first classmate in Class 1-A. A tall and muscular man with short dark blue hair, rectangular lenses, and wears U.A. High's large uniform for boys.
"Good morning!" The boy greeted, "I am from Somei Private Academy, My name is Iida Tenya!"
Neo visibly flinched as she took a step back, and Iida stopped in his tracks after, "Oh, Did my presence intimidate you? For that, I'm very sorry!"
Iida firmly bowed his head to her and Neo didn't know what to make of it since she was still caught off guard by his greeting. Eventually, he raises his head again and notices the silence between them, "Can you speak?"
Neo took some time to regain her overall composure, then gestured two fingers against her throat, then one towards her mouth. Quite frankly, Iida understood her message, "Oh, what you're telling me is that you can't speak at all?"
She nodded, openly conjured a small whiteboard in hand, and showed him the following message, "Yes,"
"I see. Nevertheless, I welcome you to Class 1-A and I hope that we'll become great heroes in the future!" Iida declared with his raised mid-way,
With that said, Iida goes back to the classroom and Neo takes another deep breath before entering the room. That's when she hears a chair screech and a familiar voice in the room, "Neo?"
Neo whipped her head towards the voice and saw none other than her best friend in middle school, Toru Hagakure, from her seat. Before long, Neo dashed her way towards her and lunged at Toru with arms stretched towards her. This led to the two falling on the floor, but Neo still hugged her best friend by the neck before pulling back to show her usual smile.
That's where Hagakure openly expressed her joy at her friend's presence, "Neo!"
It was Hagakure 's turn to hug Neo, then they part as they sat up, "It really is you! And you've picked U.A. all this time. Why didn't you tell me?"
Neo gestures the following message, "I wanted to surprise you"
"Well color me surprised, because I am!" Hagakure replied,
"You two know each other?" A gold-haired boy with a black lightning-shaped streak asked,
"Yeah! We were the best of friends back in middle school," Hagakure revealed, "And we're still are even after she transferred to a better school,"
"Shikaku Private Academy, am I correct?" Yaoyorozu inquired, and Neo grinned to see her in the same classroom as well,
"Yeah, that's right! How did you know about that?" Hagakure inquired,
"She told me during our entrance exam, or rather she wrote it down through a board and marker," Yaoyorozu revealed,
"Shikaku Private Academy?! If so, then this is quite an honor!" Iida exclaimed,
"Shikaku Private Academy? What's so special about it?" A red-haired boy asked,
"It's a private academy where only the best of students from middle school attend!" Iida explained, then placed his hand on his chest, "Compared to Somei Private Academy, where I studied, Shikaku is an institute many would strive to enter. Whenever the seniors of that academy graduate, the top five are given a chance to enroll in any school Shikaku supports. Prestigious and Overseas schools included,"
"So it's that big of a deal? No wonder why she passed through recommendation," A young chin-lengthed-haired body stated,
Neo smiled once more as she and Hagakure stood up, and then came another student from their class. A young man with a slim, muscular build, short, spiky, sandy blond hair with choppy bangs hung over his eyebrows, and sharp eyes bright red.
Iida noticed and greeted him as he did to her, but that person ignored him and went to his assigned desk. It aggravates Iida as he sees him put his leg onto his desk, leading to a strict lecture.
"Don't put your feet on the desk!" Iida yelled
"Huh?" The spiky-haired student sounded in a condescending tone,
"Don't you think that's rude to the U.A. upperclassmen and the people who made the desk?" Iida strictly clarified,
"Nope. What junior high did you go to, your side character?" The spiky-haired student questioned,
Iida stuttered, then placed his hand on his chest once more, "I attended Somei Private Academy. My name is Iida Tenya,"
"Somei? So you're a damn elite, huh?" The spiky-haired student condescendingly presumed, "Looks like I'll have fun crushing you,"
"Crushing?! That's cruel. Do you truly aim to be a hero?" Iida questioned, baffled by his classmate's words,
The spiky-haired student sounded irritated, then set his sights on the door, for another student had arrived in class. It was a young man with a mop of fluffy green hair, green eyes, diamond-aligned freckles, and shorter than the spiky-haired student.
Once again, Iida goes to greet him as usual, and Neo sweatdrops about her classmate's overall behavior and decides to sit on her assigned seat next to a classmate whose head looks a lot like a rock. The conversation between Iida and the green-haired boy, who introduced himself as Midoriya, continued, and another student came from outside the room.
Based on their voice, Neo assumed it was another girl, and her optimism was amusing. But then she heard a faint and tired voice from outside the door and everyone else turned to see one of U.A. High's teachers.
A tall slender man with black messy, shoulder-length hair and bangs in front of his face and half-opened black eyes. His overall attire consists of a black long-sleeved shirt, matching pants tucked into his boots, and a scarf wrapped around his neck.
"I'm your homeroom teacher, Shota Aizawa. Nice to meet you," Aizawa nonchalantly welcomed, and everyone was surprised by his role. What comes next is Aizawa pulling out U.A. High's PE Uniform from his sleeping bag, "It's kind of sudden, but put this on and go out onto the field,"
U.A. High Field
(Everyone in Class 1-A is named from now on)
After everyone was wearing their PE uniform, Aizawa announced today's first period.
"A Quirk assessment test?!" Everyone exclaimed,
"What about the entrance ceremony? The orientation?" Uraraka asked,
"If you're going to become a hero, you don't have time for such leisurely events," Aizawa stated, "U.A.'s selling point is how unrestricted its school traditions are. That's also how the teachers run their classes,"
Neo didn't expect this at all, but she learned to accept it. If it means working hard on her new school curriculum...
"You kids have been doing these since junior high, too, right?" Aizawa clarified, then showed a list of today's physical fitness tests, "Physical fitness tests where you weren't allowed to use your Quirks. The country still uses averages taken from results from students not using your Quirks. It's not rational. Well, the Ministry of Education is procrastinating,"
Aizawa then turns to Bakugo, "Bakugo, you finished at the top of your practical exam, right?"
Bakugo sounded his affirmation, then Aizawa continued, "In junior high, what was your best result for the softball throw?"
"Sixty-seven meters," Bakugo revealed,
"Then, try doing it with your Quirk," Aizawa instructed,
Bakugo then stands at the center of the pitching area. After a quick warmup, he uses his Quirk to accelerate the throw of his softball, "DIE...!"
Everyone blankly blinked at Bakugo's shout, and Aizawa measured the distance of Bakugo's pitch, "Know your own maximum first. That is the most rational way to form the foundation of a hero,"
He soon showed the result of Bakugo's pitch and it was a total of seven hundred and five point two meters, which surprised the students in Class 1-A. This pumped everyone up as this was everything a hero course is supposed to be, but Aizawa broke this joyous atmosphere through a cold tone in his voice, "'It looks fun', huh? You have three years to become a hero. Will you have an attitude like that the whole time?"
Then he gave quite an eerily grin towards his students, "All right. Whoever comes in last place in eight tests will be judged to have no potential and will be punished with expulsion,"
This baffles everyone, even Neo shows her with widened eyes and an open mouth. Before long, she and a few others calmed down since there had to be a reason behind his words. Still, everyone would do their best if it meant avoiding dead last in the physical tests...
"We're free to do what we want about the circumstances of our students," Aizawa then lifted his bangs and stared at his students with a fierce look in his eyes, "Welcome to U.A.'s hero course!"
What follows is Uraraka objecting to such a punishment, especially when it's the first day in school. But Aizawa clarified that Japan is covered with unfairness as calamities like Natural Disasters, Accidents, and Villains can't be predicted where and when they'll occur and that Heroes such as himself and everyone else have to reverse those situations.
U.A. High will do everything in its power to provide one hardship after another to students who'll do whatever they can to overcome it. To top it off, Aizawa even used U.A. High's motto to his students, "Go beyond, Plus Ultra. Overcome it with all you've got,"
Neo expressed resolution as she clenched her fingers closed, and then Aizawa finished the demonstration with the following, "All right, Demonstration's over. The real thing starts now,"
Quirk Apprehension Test
The first test of Quirk Apprehension is a fifty-meter dash done in pairs.
Neo goes into a running position, and the one racing against her is a classmate on all fours. She has short, spiky silver-white hair, blue eyes with slit pupils, a long silver spotted tail, and long sharp claws.
"On your mark... Get set..." A camera droid announced, then emitted a banger noise,
Neo would use her quirk to create her lane similar to that of ice and skate her way toward the finish line while her assigned competitor ran on all fours like a cat. The latter would prove herself to be quite fast and finish the dash first before Neo.
"3.46 seconds! 5.67 seconds!" The camera droid recorded,
Once both have stopped, Neo's competitor walks up to her and stretches her hand without the claws and cheeky grin, "Quite a race, huh?"
"Jun Ikumi!"
"Quirk: Cheetah!"
"She possesses all cheetah-related abilities as well as their physical traits!"
"The same goes for their top speed of up to 60 miles an hour or more!"
Neo kicked her legs a couple of times after the dash and nodded at Jun. The latter grins and everyone moves on to the next test.
The second test of the Quirk Assessment was the Grip Test and everyone was given handheld dynamometers.
Neo holds her handheld dynamometer and uses her Quirk around her left arm. This increased her overall grip strength to reach over 240 kilograms. Almost ten times the amount of the average person.
However, she hears someone having a total of 540 kilograms and that would be Mezou Shoji. But this didn't sway her as she continued with the next test...
The third test of the Quirk Assessment is the Standing Long Jump.
With her Quirk added into the mix, Neo jumped past the sandbox without issue by conjuring a set of coiled springs beneath her feet, jumped forward, and manifested a pair of large wings that allowed her to glide past the sandbox.
After she lands, both springs and wings disperse into particles and one of her classmates, Mina Ashido, has something to say in the matter, "Seriously, that Quirk of hers is amazing!"
"She can create inanimate objects and animate parts on the fly," Kyoka Jiro added, "Makes me feel jealous over it,"
"I can relate," Momo admitted, "Especially when I raced against her in the practical exam of recommendation,"
Hearing the students chatter about Neo's quirk, Aizawa has his opinion of her as well, 'Neo Valentina. Top Student of Shikaku Private Academy, holder of the highest points in overall score and performance in record time. Under normal circumstances, I'd commend you. But here in U.A. High, those would mean nothing if you don't give it your all'
The fourth test of the Quirk Apprehension is repeated side-to-side jumps.
When it was Neo's turn, she conjured five clones, lined them in a single file, and began jumping side-to-side in sync. Three would jump to the right, and the other three would jump to the left. They alternate their jumps as time goes by, and neither one of the clones or herself shows a sign of uncoordinated jumps.
"Now she's made clones of herself, this is so unreal," Denki Kaminari noted while scratching the back of his head,
"If only she were taller and larger though," Mineta Minoru commented,
This didn't go unnoticed as Neo and her clones possess heightened hearing from their training with Yukino and frown upon her short classmate. The fact that all six simultaneously frowned while jumping side-to-side was intimidating for Mineta to say anymore.
After the allotted time had passed, all of her clones dispel into particles after they've stopped and Neo gave her spot to the next person.
The fifth test of the Quirk Apprehension is the ball throw and everyone took turns at it besides Bakugo.
Everyone was doing quite well while Uraraka scored an infinity since the ball flew until it was no longer seen in the sky. Neo then watched as it was Izuku's turn to throw the ball.
But before Izuku could throw, Aizawa's hair stood up and Izuku threw the ball without his Quirk. The latter seemed confused by this, then the former revealed the reason, "I erased your quirk. That entrance exam was definitely not rational enough. Even a kid like you was accepted,"
"You erased my Quirk?" Izuku remarked, then he gasped when he saw the goggles around Aizawa's neck, "Those goggles... I see! You can erase other people's Quirks with your Quirk just by looking at them. The Erasure Hero: Eraser Head!"
This piqued Neo's curiosity since there's little information about Eraser Head. What's known about him is that he's an underground hero. Never shares any other information or gives interviews.
"From what I can tell. You can't control your Quirk, can you?" Aizawa presumed, "Do you intend to become incapacitated again and have someone save you?"
Izuku tried to retort that it wasn't his intention, but he soon found himself wrapped by Aizawa's scarf and pulled close, "Whatever your intention, I'm saying that's what those around you will be forced to do,"
Aizawa proceeds with a little historical fact about an oppressively passionate hero who saved over a thousand people by himself and created a legend. Even if Izuku possessed the same valor as him, he'd just be decked and turn into a useless doll after saving one person.
"Izuku Midoriya. With your power, you can't become a hero," Aizawa strictly told and Izuku said nothing. Especially when he's released from his binding scarf, "I've returned your Quirk. You have two turns for the ball throw. Hurry up and get it over with,"
With that, Aizawa walked over a few meters and watched Izuku's second throw. Neo watched with interest as he went for another throw. As he kept going, Izuku did what others didn't expect.
He propelled the ball into the air with immense force while everyone gasped as they watched it soar and fall to the ground. Neo then whipped her head towards Izuku and noticed one of his fingers swollen. As for the distance of his throw, it was the same as Bakugo's throw.
"Sensei! I can still move!" Izuku called out while clenching his swollen fingers together,
"This kid..." Aizawa remarked with a grin,
Almost everyone present was impressed by the distance covered, but one was more shocked about the spectacle than the rest. And that would be Bakugo, after processing everything he's seen, dashed his way towards him, "Hey! Tell me what's going on, Deku, you bastard!"
Izuku screamed in fright, but Aizawa interfered once more by hurling his scarf onto Bakugo and holding him in place. No matter how hard he tried to resist, he was stuck in place as Aizawa revealed that they were weapons made for capture from carbon fiber woven with metal wire made of a special alloy.
"Geez... Don't keep making me use my Quirk over and over," Aizawa then frowned towards Bakugo, "I have a dry eye!"
"It's such a waste since his Quirk is so amazing!" Everyone else exclaimed,
Afterward, Aizawa released Bakugo once he calmed down, "We're wasting time. Whoever's next, get ready,"
Izuku soon ran off to the others with his left hand over his swollen finger and Bakugo looked livid. After a few more minutes, it was Neo's turn for the ball throw and used her Quirk.
First, she made a second layer onto the ball and made it float over her right finger. After she waved it around to confirm its attachment, she pointed it at an angle and raised her thumb like the gun's hammer.
When she pressed her thumb down, the ball was shot into the sky like a bullet and almost everyone watched it soar towards the sky. It wasn't even falling as it flew high in the sky, then Aizawa showed that it was another infinity for the ball throw.
"Another Infinity, huh? Neo-chan sure holds a lot of surprises with her Quirk," Asui Tsuyu stated,
"Unparallel potential," Fumikage Tokoyami quoted,
"Next" Aizawa blatantly called out,
"Me!" Hanta Sero called out,
But instead of getting another ball, Neo gave him her ball by pulling back her finger and descending it as a fastball. This caused some surprise and concern among her classmates, but she easily stopped the ball with her Quirk and let it fall onto her hand.
She then walked over to Sero and handed the ball with a smile.
"Oh, thanks," Sero thanked, then a thought followed, 'Though why do I feel so small around her...'
The sixth test of the Quirk Apprehension is sit-ups, and they were done in pairs again.
Some struggled to do a few while others were doing relatively well due to experience before their enrollment. Neo didn't even need to hear Quirk since this was part of her training with Yukino.
When alternating partners, Neo stopped and assisted Jun in her seat. And just like a cat, Jun showed no issue in her sit-ups and still showed her usual smile whenever she pulled up. Neo smiles as well.
However, she'd dropped a bit of that smile when she glanced at Izuku struggling in his sit-ups...
The seventh test of the Quirk Apprehension seated toe-touch.
Once again, Neo refrained from using her Quirk and showed incredible flexibility as she stretched forward and easily touched her toes. She maintained this position until Aizawa told her to stop for the next person.
And the eighth and last test of the Quirk Apprehension is the distance run.
This wasn't an issue for Neo and there was no need to use her Quirk here. What she did, however, was create a clone of herself and lend Izuku a hand since he looked worn out through the course.
Even though everyone has to make an effort out of the test, no one said anything about helping others and Aizawa didn't interfere with Neo's actions as he watched the test.
Once everyone was finished, most felt out of breath while the few remained in top condition...
Aftermath...
"Okay, I'll quickly tell you the results," Aizawa declared, "The total is simply the marks you got from each test. It's a waste of time to explain verbally so I'll show you the results all at once,"
He then showed the results through a hologram and the person who got last place was Izuku Midoriya while the one on top was Neo Valentina. The latter didn't have any pride in this, just concern as she turned to Izuku for holding last place in the test.
Before concluding today's activity, Aizawa made a surprising reveal after he closed the hologram, "By the way, I was lying about the expulsion,"
Everyone looked dumbfounded, even Neo wasn't an exception at all as Aizawa continued with a grin, "It was a rational deception to draw out the upper limits of your Quirks,"
"WHAT?!" Izuku, Uraraka, and Iida exclaimed in utter disbelief while Izuku was pale as a ghost,
"Of course, that was a lie. It should've been obvious if you just thought it through," Momo remarked,
This earned her a small tug from Neo, and she showed a message through a written whiteboard, "I didn't know that..."
"Oh, I'm sorry. Guess I wasn't so sure when you'd figure it out too," Momo said, and patted Neo's head a few times,
After that, Aizawa concluded today's activity, told the handouts about the school's curriculum and such in the classroom, and handed Izuku a slip for Recovery Girl.
Thus, their first day of school was done and Neo couldn't help but smile at Aizawa's deception. What comes next is tomorrow and there was much to forward to...
