Why wouldn't Giovanni be getting involved, there are a plethora of powerful Pokemon to poach and he won't leave this in someone else's hands.
"Ash if you are trying to get back to Driftveil City would this not be a bit out of the way?" N asked, as Ash led them through downtown Mistralton City.
"After Ghetsis orchestrated the attack on Opelucid City and used my mom as leverage to get the Black Stone, Drayden had Skyla take her to a safe location, and then once it was done, she took her back home to Kanto personally." Ash admitted.
"That doesn't explain why we're stopping by here though, can't believe I'm agreeing with N on this one." Rosa admitted.
"I just want to stop by and say thanks for all her work, I'm not planning on a long stop here." Ash responded.
"Why do I have a feeling that it won't be that easy?" Elliot asked rhetorically.
"I swear, as soon as I stop by and say thanks for her help we'll be on the short path through Chargestone Cave and back on our way towards Driftveil." Ash assured.
"Pi Pikachu!" Pikachu agreed enthusiastically.
"Hey Skyla, are you in here, Nurse Joy said you were here earlier." Ash called out in a small hanger by the gym.
"Hey Ash, and friends, I was wondering when you'd all stop by again." Skyla said, hopping off of a plane.
"Yeah, I just wanted to stop by and personally thank you for helping with my mom." Ash admitted.
"Of course, after what I saw happen in Opelucid I couldn't stand idly by." Skyla reaffirmed.
"Miss Skyla, the way you saw us, it was like you were expecting us, but unless Nurse Joy called ahead, how did you know we were coming by?" Rosa asked.
"No Nurse Joy didn't call, I had a friend who foresaw your arrival in a dream." Skyla admitted.
"Sure because that's believable." Elliot remarked.
"I fused with a dragon, and you're questioning the plausibility of someone seeing the future in a dream?" Ash questioned.
"Anyways, she's actually here and wanted to meet you Ash." Skyla said, grabbing a rag. "Meet me at the gym, I'll go get her."
"I told you this trip wouldn't be straightforward." Elliot commented.
"Relax, we're still making good time." Ash reminded as the quartet walked down the runway to Skyla's gym.
A few minutes later, Skyla returned with a woman with long blonde hair, dressed in pink.
"Ash, this is Caitlin, a member of Unova's Elite Four." Skyla introduced.
"Oh like Marshall!" Ash said, walking over to the two women. "It's nice to meet you Miss Caitlin."
"It's nice to meet you as well Ash, I foresaw your arrival in one of my premonitions, and after Marshall told me about your match, I knew I had to wait for your arrival." Caitlin said calmly.
"Marshall told you about my match with him! That's awesome! Wait if you waited here for a me then that must mean you want a match as well!" Ash realized excitedly.
"Are we just going to skip over the part about you facing Marshall or…" Rosa half questioned.
"Oh yeah, back in Opelucid City with Lucario, we even won." Ash said. "Now without Braviary I can't fully use the gyms arena, but Duosion will be the next best!" Ash exclaimed, sending out his psychic type.
"Pi!" Pikachu argued.
"I promise buddy, next one is all yours." Ash reassured.
"Ka." Pikachu scoffed but was still excited for a match like this.
"We will keep the rules the same as Marshall had them. Each of us using only one Pokemon, and I choose, Gothitelle." Caitlin responded, sending out a psychic type as well.
"Duosion use Future Sight!"
"Gothitelle use Flatter."
Duosion glowed momentarily as Gothitelle clapped to everyone's confusion.
"Elliot?" Ash asked.
"Uhh, Flatter, it raises the power of an opponents special attack but also confuses them." Elliot said, checking his laptop.
"Great." Ash said. "Duosion into the air quickly!"
"Gothitelle after them with Shadow Ball."
Gothitelle flew with ease after Duosion, easily catching up to the smaller psychic type while firing off a series of Shadow Balls at him.
"Right, I forgot they can fly." Ash admitted. "Duosion use Psychic!"
"Gothitelle counter with Psychic."
Duosion began psychically throwing everything it could at Gothitelle, with the taller Pokemon easily moving them out of her way or just dodging them altogether, gaining more and more on Duosion.
"Now Gothitelle use Thunderbolt." Caitlin called out.
As Gothitelle lined up the shot, Duosion's Future Sight went off, striking her in the back of the head, annoying Gothitelle enough to strike an old plane, sending it crashing down on Duosion.
"Caitlin! That was an antique!" Skyla scolded.
"Relax, this is exactly as I foresaw the match going, and the plane took minimal damage." Caitlin said, seeing Duosion pinned beneath the plane.
"Duosion get out of there with Telekinesis!" Ash called out.
Duosion tried his best to focus, to no avail as he was still dazed and confused from earlier.
"It's alright Ash, you were fated to loose." Caitlin said.
"I defy fate all the time, and I won't stop now!" Ash said in defiance. "Come on Duosion get out of there and fight back! I know you can!"
"Gothitelle use Thunderbolt." Caitlin called out as Gothitelle landed in front of Duosion.
"The ferocity of an elite trainer, even as calm as her is truly terrifying." N said as Gothitelle lined up her attack, firing it.
"It was a good attempt Ash, had you chosen Deino or Golett instead you might have even won." Caitlin said, as Gothitelle was suddenly thrown from the smoke she'd created. "No, impossible, I foresaw this matches end!"
As the smoke cleared, Duosion floated back up, holding the rubber wheel of the plane before tossing it aside.
"Is that Duosion?" Rosa asked noticing the long arms and larger body.
"Even better, that's Reuniclus!" Ash exclaimed. "Now let's show them what you've got!" Ash called out.
Reuniclus brought their newly obtained hands and arms together creating a ball of energy firing it at Gothitelle and pushing them back slightly.
"Was that Aura Sphere?" Rosa asked.
"Not quite, looks like it's Focus Blast." Elliot said.
"Alright Reuniclus keep it up with a Psychic attack!"
"Gothitelle use Shadow Ball!" Caitlin called out.
Gothitelle fired a series of shadowy balls out towards Gothitelle, with Reuniclus blocking a few of them before being struck by the rest of them.
"Gothitelle keep going with Shadow Ball!"
"Reuniclus counter them!"
Reuniclus stuck his arms out fully extended and began spinning, slowly, bit by bit picking up speed, knocking the shadow balls away before slamming into Gothitelle.
"Gyro Ball." Elliot responded before Rosa could even ask.
"Gothitelle use Thunderbolt!" Caitlin called out.
Gothitelle got back up, firing a bolt of electricity straight at and through Reuniclus, dropping the newly evolved psychic type to the ground.
"Reuniclus is unable to continue fighting, the winner is Caitlin and Gothitelle." Skyla declared.
"Well it looks like your prediction was correct, just delayed." Ash said, returning Reuniclus to their Pokeball.
"What changed, your demeanor before was that you didn't want to loose." Caitlin commented.
"I never do, but I did prove your initial guess wrong." Ash reminded. "You thought Duosion and I would be defeated under that plane, and we weren't, we got back up and kept fighting to the end."
"Fair enough, and best of luck with your future journeys." Caitlin said with a smile.
"And thank you for an amazing battle." Ash responded. "Now come on guys, we need to get going if we want to make it through Chargestone by nightfall."
