Chapter 17

"Targeting The CIA"

Since it's founding, Team Rocket has had one mortal enemy within the United States. They've had to contend with spies from United States Government agencies seeking information about any plans to attack and kill using Pokemon. During one of his gym matches, Giovanni noticed something odd about the Pokemon trainer he was fighting. He knew that this trainer had something to hide.

"You fight well, young man," he said from up in his box, looking down on the Viridian City gym floor. "Tell me, the moves you made today, did you do them on your own or did you spy on me beforehand?"

The trainer was perplexed by this question.

"You see, I've always had ways of finding out who my opponents are," Giovanni explained, standing up to bring himself out of the shadows. "After all, you can't be too careful now, can you?"

Snapping his fingers, two of his Roman centurion dressed guards stepped forward and grabbed the boy by his arms, raising him up.

"What's going on here? What are you doing?"

Coming down onto the floor, Giovanni produced an evil smile as he approached the boy.

"Tell me something, young man," he said. "Who are you really here for?"

"What?"

"Your father is an agent in America, right?" he said.

"What do you know about my father?" protested the boy. "He's a good man willing to lay his life down for his country!"

Rather than showing mercy, Giovanni reached towards the boy's vest and pulled it open, revealing the seven other badges needed to get into the Indigo Pokemon League. Instead of snatching one of them, he took all the badges from the boy, seeing that they were all glued together. Seeing the deception, Giovanni sneered at him.

"And what about you, boy?" laughed Giovanni. "Are you willing to lay down your life for a country that killed over a million Japanese many years ago?"

Clutching his fist, Giovanni punched the boy in the stomach so hard that he coughed up blood.

"One of my ultimate goals is to eliminate the United States and create a new country governed by me using Pokemon…speaking of…"

He then snatched the six Pokeballs off the boy's belt.

"Give them back!"

"They are now my property," Giovanni laughed. "And I can assure you that will serve Team Rocket as well as you. Take him away!"

Doing as they were told, the guards took the boy away as Giovanni watched with an evil grin as the boy was taken outside. A few moments later, a loud scream was heard coming from the boy and the guards returned with a bloodied knife in one of their hands.

"It has been done, sir," one of the guards declared, handing Giovanni the bloodied knife. "The spy is dead."

"Good work," Giovanni replied, taking the knife as his smile quickly disappeared. "If there is one thing I have zero tolerance for is spies. He came from the Central Intelligence Agency, yes?"

The guard nodded in reply.

"Return to your post," Giovanni ordered as the guard saluted him in Roman manner. "I shall send a message to the CIA of what happens when they send spies here as trainers!"

Returning to his office, Giovanni summoned Steven Jordan and Dr. Namba, his two most trusted advisors.

"What is it, Giovanni?" Steven asked as he walked into the office.

"We have spies in the fold, gentlemen," Giovanni answered, placing the forged gym badges on his desk. "The trainer I fought was actually spying on our operations. I think it's time we teach those CIA fools a lesson of what happens when our boundaries are crossed."

"What do you plan to do, sir?" asked Dr. Namba. "Is it something that your mother would have done?"

Giovanni didn't say out loud, but he was planning something against the CIA to teach them and all the other agencies a lesson of what happens when they intrude on his territory and stick their noses into his business…this was the third part of the Bojinka Plot that he was creating.
