Sadly nobody else was around anymore inside the house–maybe Elsword and Eve in one of the bedrooms, but Lithia didn't want to find them if they're not showing themselves.
So she went back upstairs to hear horrible music that hadn't gotten any better, but there was no more music. Nisha was busy trying to make another friendship bracelet, and so far it went bad. "I noticed some of you have that. Did you make them all?" Lithia asked.
"Yes, I did. I'm trying my best," Nisha smiled proudly, despite her work that never got any improvement. Once again, Lithia was amazed with how dedicated Nisha was in what she did.
"You're so bad at this!"
"It's fine, it's about the feeling!"
"They accept it anyway," Nisha pouted at her little selves.
"Why are you wandering around Henir?" Chung asked as he turned to the next page of his book. It seemed like a bad hobby.
Lithia turned silent for a while. Was it about time she just shared something about herself? She was just here for food and water, and she could go out after. There was no need for an unnecessary bond. "Personal stuff. Don't worry about it."
Chung just nodded his head. "Good luck with that."
In curiosity, Lithia wanted to ask a few questions. "Ara said you really like that author. Why is that?"
"Their stories are so cool. Each character feels like a real human being. It's so well written. The timeline could jump here and there, but it's very easy to understand," Chung said with a smile on his face, without even looking away from the book. "Do you want to try reading it?"
"No, I'll pass. I don't like reading," Lithia uttered an obvious lie. For Chung, at least. Her face didn't lie; it was a bit red from getting the compliments.
There would be a lot of concern when three trolleys were fully filled with groceries. Then again, they had 15 people living in one house. Well, 16 with Lithia if she decided to stay.
Except Noah's trolley was his own food.
"Thank you so much, Add, Rose!" Noah smiled, looking at the stack of food boxes. It should be enough for at least 5 days.
"What a useless child."
"You're welcome!"
"You're welcome indeed! We didn't even do anything much. We're just shopping," Rose smiled back and patted Noah's head. This was her first time going to a supermarket with Noah, and she expected this to happen again.
"Let's go back. We've been traveling around available supermarkets the whole day," Add sighed with a concerned look. Yes, there were more than three trolleys of groceries for the group's supplies. And surprisingly enough, Noah always filled his trolley with food and snacks.
They used the portal to go back to the house–to Add's lab. Rose opened up the room and shouted to everyone. "Guys, we bought groceries!"
Everyone stopped what they were doing and helped sort things out. Some of them were stored in the attic, since it was always empty. They figured out it could be used as a storage room. Noah's boxes were stacked on the empty space on the second floor. It still felt empty, though.
Everyone rested after dinner and taking care of their groceries. For Noah, his best spot would be the empty space on the second floor. It's going to be called Noah's space at this point.
Nisha, Chung, and Lu were there too. Maybe they could do another sleepover for tonight.
Lithia approached them, feeling like it would be the best time to tell the truth Noah had yet to realize. She didn't plan to stay for the night. The flood was over, so she could go back to her own way of living. "Noah, I haven't finished. I have yet to tell you the name of the person."
"I'm sorry I interrupted you earlier," Chung looked away from everyone. Somehow the fact bothered him too, even though he wasn't involved at all. Lu also felt uneasy, but she didn't want to show her worry.
"My brother was killed by the impostor. Who was it? Did they tell you their name?" Noah asked as he stared at Lithia's eyes.
Lithia started to feel hesitant when she looked into his eyes. Somehow it felt like he had seen enough tragedy, yet he didn't realize the truth that haunted him every night. "Like I said before, someone was trying to impersonate Harque Ebalon. I got to see his memories and hear echoes inside Henir realm," she said in a serious tone. "The person failed and got killed instead. His name was Dantelion."
"He–Huh…?" The light disappeared from Noah's eyes. His nightmare was the moment his brother got killed in front of his eyes. If what Lithia said was correct, then the real killer… wasn't the impostor, Dantelion. He was witnessing the moment Dantelion got murdered by Harque.
"That's a load of crap!"
"She won't lie to us. We can trust her!"
"Those memories are false," Noah denied it with a blank stare. His mind didn't manage to show any expression for it.
"Noah, accept it. Don't you read the book?" Nisha asked with a sad look. She didn't feel like she had to care, but seeing how Noah reacted to it hurt her heart.
Noah shook his head. "That one chapter was written by the impostor! That's not Harque!"
"'I spent every night taking care of my little brother. We used to read fiction books before sleep. Now, I fed him with lies, which in a way, is also fiction. The method that Henir Order gave me caused suffering to my little brother, but it worked perfectly for my requirement to be the next Moon Master'," Nisha rephrased every word straight out of the book. "I didn't find this weird until now. How would the impostor know you two always read books together before sleep?"
"She made that up! The book isn't like that."
"That's exactly what we read from the book."
"You're lying…" Noah said with a trembling voice. Was everything he lived for until now a lie, then? He forced himself to use the healing power solely because he wanted to live like how his brother would. He didn't want his brother's effort to go in vain just because of the impostor. If he could force his body to heal people, then surely Harque would be happy in the afterlife too.
But if Harque was the one being evil this whole time, what's the point of healing people? Who and what did he live for this whole time?
"Dantelion was the victim. We don't know yet the reason on why he impersonated your brother, but it's clear that the one being bad to you was your brother all along," Nisha said the fact, although it pained her to say it directly into Noah's face.
"She's lying! She only cares for Laby anyway!"
"Trust her, please! We've been friends!"
"You're lying!" Noah shouted and held his own head. He could hear his own heart beating so hard into his ears. His eyes felt watery, eventually flowing down to his cheeks. The memory where his 'brother' got killed kept replaying in front of his eyes, as if it was the only thing he could see.
Was he always alone this whole time? The one and only brother he had only saw him as an object? Was all the fun time they spent together just a deception? The one that hurt him during his whole childhood was his own brother, just so his brother could be the next Moon Master.
He never had anyone in his life.
He felt a warm feeling, although he couldn't see properly through his teary eyes. It was a hug, but was this hug just a mere trick like his brother did? "The truth is so harsh on you, huh?" Lu hugged him tightly, as if it would stop him from trembling.
"Everything is a lie," Noah said with an empty look. Unlike his usual bright and soothing spells, a shadowy aura was surrounding them. It didn't surprise them, especially when they already saw what the other Noahs did in other timelines.
This was the power he should be using.
"Do I look like a lie to you, though?" Lu broke the hug and wiped Noah's tears. She grabbed both his hands and placed them on her cheeks. "See? I'm your friend. I'm real!"
Lu certainly didn't have the ability to cheer people up, but the others were speechless. Either they left Noah alone and let him succumb into despair, or talk to him about it. Unfortunately, Lu was the only one with words at the time. She was wishing to any demon gods above her to help Noah accept the truth.
"What do I live for…?" Noah muttered while looking into something far away in the distance, even though Lu was in front of him.
"You live for yourself, of course," Lu said with a smile.
The shadows got stronger, even engulfing them around. "Harque won't heal anyone. It's just a facade."
"Exactly! You're doing the correct thing, unlike him," Lu nodded her head in agreement. "The past is gone. Let it die."
"I'm seeing Dantelion being killed by Harque in my dreams this whole time…?" Noah asked the question as he looked into Lu's eyes.
He should be the one with the answer, but Lu would say it in his stead. "You are. No wonder Harque never showed up at night, huh? We've been looking for a different person this whole time."
Noah pinched Lu's cheeks with his finger, and as a result, she obviously felt hurt. "Ow, ow! I'm real! Stop!"
Seeing Lu feeling hurt, the shadows disappeared in a second, changed with a bright light. "I-I'm sorry!" Noah apologized, still looking at Lu to make sure she felt better.
"You don't live for Harque. You live for yourself!" Lu smiled as she held Noah's shoulders. "Besides, if you're ever lost, you have everyone here."
"Are you guys okay?"
Ain walked toward them because he heard Noah shouting. He saw Noah in tears while Lu was holding his shoulder, Chung was facing the wall, Nisha and Lithia were on the side being speechless. "Demon, we talked about this. Did you hurt him?" Ain asked as he projected his sword.
"Hey, what happened–"
Ain glared at Ciel, who just came to check on them. "Control your master."
"Huh–It doesn't work like that!" Ciel said, feeling confused by the random words. Logically, a servant didn't have any control over their own master.
"Guys?! Did something happen?"
The girls came from downstairs to check on them. Noah looked around him, surrounded by a group of people he had been living with. Back then when he was little, nobody came to him when he got hurt. Sure, Harque came to check on him every night, but that was all an act. Was this an act too?
If it was all an act, would they bother to tell him the truth? They could just ended the topic when Chung interrupted this morning.
"Noah, what happened? Why are you crying?" Rena asked with a concerned look. She knelt down on one knee, holding Noah's hands tightly.
"It's the demon–"
Elsword slapped Ain's arm. "Stop it, Ain! Why do you always blame the demons for everything?"
"I… I–" Noah sobbed, eventually crying like a kid. He couldn't even tell what he was feeling at the moment. His chest hurt, but his heart felt warm. His body lost its energy, but he could move knowing everyone came for him. Everything was contradicting each other.
Rena hugged him, and it became a group hug in no time. "Don't be shy!" Ara pulled Lithia into the group hug. As a guest, it was so awkward.
"I-I'm–I'm fine. I'm sorry," Noah apologized to everyone. He didn't mean to bother any of them.
"Are you sure? You don't look fine to me," Eve said, since she could easily analyze the human body with her system. Noah had no energy at all, for someone that claimed to be fine.
"I'm sure. Thank you everyone," Noah gave a smile, and most importantly, the lights were back in his eyes. While he still had a lot of questions about the accuracy of Lithia's information, he felt like he could trust her on this one.
"It's our sleep time soon. Come here!" Rena grabbed Lithia's hand and forced her to follow them to the girls' bedroom. The boys also went back to their room, leaving just the four of them alone in Noah's space.
"Sorry, I have nothing to say to that," Nisha apologized. Cheering people up was definitely not her expertise when she barely cared for others' feelings in a normal talk. Her mirror had no words either, so the least it could do was rub itself on Noah.
"I-It's fine, I–" Noah hung his head, trying to gather his thoughts of what just happened. "I'm sorry for saying you're lying…"
"Beat him up!"
"Hug him!"
"We already hugged," Nisha said to her little selves before she faced Noah. "Don't worry about it. You were shocked."
"You need more hug," Lu smiled and wrapped her arms around him. She patted his head gently, giving him the warmth he needed. "Hey, come here! Why are you backing away?" Lu grabbed the mirror into the hug.
"Noah is sad. Laby is sad too."
Noah turned silent. He got the answer he wanted, but it raised even more questions. Why did Harque do that? What did Harque do to him back then? What was Dantelion trying to do? What was Titania trying to do?
The midnight came, and so the little selves disappeared. "I like my moment of peace and quiet," Chung smiled as he laid down on the carpet. He was ignoring his little selves for the whole day, but they wouldn't go away unless he did something. He did nothing in the end, though.
"What was that anyway? I thought you guys could hear them, but Laby said she heard nothing," Nisha said with a confused look.
Lu raised her one eyebrow. "What are you guys talking about?"
Noah broke the hug, looking at the demon. "There were these two small versions of me. One is a demon, and the other one is an angel. I think… I let them disturbed my thoughts a bit…"
"I saw nothing. I was wondering why you guys keep talking to yourself," Lu answered, which surprised the group. But then, she grinned proudly. "Maybe because I'm a demon? What bad version of myself would I see? I'm sure Ain saw nothing either."
"I'm not hungry…" Noah said the last thing the group expected him to say. He laid down next to Chung, grabbing the blanket to cover both of them.
"I'm going back to the girls. Lithia must be feeling so awkward there," Lu said as she stood up and faced Nisha, who hadn't moved from her spot. "Are you coming?"
"I'll come with you. Laby is interested in our new member if she's actually joining," Nisha nodded her head, waving her hands at Noah and Chung.
"Good night!" Lu smiled as she turned off the light.
